Thai Noodle from what I expected is a noodle place that serves noodles. Thai Noodle doesn't really pop out as anything special location. It is decorated with simple white wall and wooden tables with red chairs. There's nothing really revolutionary about their noodles unless you look at their Mama Pad Kee! A special thanks for Alesia for treating me to this. As some people might know Mama, is a Thai instant noodle brand that college students can't get enough of. What Thai Noodle did was use that noodle in their stirred fried, I had mines stirred fried with beef steak and it was fitting for the meal. I gobbled up every single bite of it and an at the moment I'm craving for more! ----- + Pro: Mama Pad Kee! (Instant Noodle) - Con: It's a really small location, very easily missed. My husband and I only had a few days in the Bay Area on vacation and one of the places that we decided that we NEEDED to go to was Thai Noodle. There isn't much ambiance and the waitstaff is hard to understand but are very helpful and efficient. The reason to go there is the food. I always order the duck noodle soup with fat noodles and have never been disappointed with it. The soup is always piping hot (maybe too hot at times since I sometimes have to wait 10 minutes before it is at an edible temperature) and full of flavor. There is always TONS of duck pieces though a few of them have no meat and are all fat (which some people would find as a good thing). Noodles taste fresh. The broth is amazing. My husband tends to order the Pad Thai which is what he got during this past visit. There's tons of meat and it, too, was full of flavor. Plenty of sauce and the bean sprouts were crunchy. Other things we ordered and were happy with either during this visit or past ones: cucumber salad, chicken satay, fresh rolls, thai iced tea, and various specials (sorry... don't remember which ones... but we've never been disappointed with one!) Oh, and as everyone has said the prices are VERY reasonable considering how much food you get! read more

perfect for a late night snack since they're open late. I always get the same thing-- fried chicken over fried rice, which i noticed is really popular among customers (I once saw a group of 4 guys walk in, and they all ordered the same thing). You can't go wrong!! However, I would recommend you steer clear away from the thai iced tea, which I suspect came from a package due to its overly sweet and grainy consistency. read more

The fact that this place opens til the wee hours of the morning makes deserves 3 stars alone. When no restaurant in Berkeley is open, Thai Noodle's bright neon lights are here to save the night. The fried calamari, pad se ew, and crab fried rice are my favorites here. The fried calamari is actually exceptional. I drove here late one night because I was craving that calamari. They provide friendly and prompt service and the food is cooked fresh quickly. **You might want to check your glasses before you drink your water. I went here for lunch today because one of my group mate's suggested this place and because I needed to go somewhere that accepted card since I didn't have cash. My two favorite dishes from any thai restaurant is the pad see ewe and the pad kee mao. Maybe it was my mistake for ordering the pad kee mao here when the popular reviews referenced to the pad see ewe. But I was looking for something spicy with just enough kick to get me through the rest of my group project. I was disappointed. The pad kee mao wasn't spicy at all! Drunken noodles are supposed to be spicy and full of flavor. My dish had no spice and it seemed like it had some kind of chicken gravy going on in it. It was almost slimy. I didn't finish it which is a first when it comes to Thai food. I also got thai iced tea in a to go cup. I kept drinking it thinking why is this so sweet and why isn't it creamy? I found out later on that all the milk was on the top and that it wasn't stirred or anything. If they are going to do that they should at least use clear plastic cups so you can see the separation and realize that you have to shake it up. Honestly, waste of money. Avoid this place. Make the extra effort to walk to Thai Basil in the asian ghetto. read more

I ate here last night, and ordered the Basil Tofu. It was very good, but I wasn't that impressed, especially considering the price of the dish. On the other hand, the place was pretty busy and a lot of other people ordered dishes that look really, really great. The Thai Ice Coffee that I ordered was superb. I am tentatively giving this restaurant three stars, but I am coming back because I think this restaurant can do better. read more

This place is very great for any college student: 1) open late, until 1:30AM 2) Good portions 3) economical 4) delicious thai food I always love going to this place for lunch or late dinner. The service is quick, and the food comes out quick. I always order a thai ice tea, which is also realllly good. I don't usually order their pad thai, but i've had some and it's just alright. It's your typical pad thai, nothing really special about it. I do love their pad see ew and pad ke mao. They have really good curries, especially the red curry because it has a little kick in it and it's kinda spicy. Order the noodle if you are new, then try the curries once you've familiarize yourself with the menu. read more

Probably the blandest Thai food I've ever eaten. The first time I came here, I ordered the "pineapple fried rice with beef", but they screwed up my order and gave me "praram over rice with beef" (tofu and vegetables with peanut sauce). The peanut sauce barely had any sweetness to it, and had a very watery consistency. Was somewhat pricey at $6.25. The second time, they got my order right and I had the pineapple fried rice ($6.50). It wasn't too bad, but I was somewhat surprised that they use curry flavoring in their fried rice. Again, a mediocre dish. I also ordered the spicy calamari ($5.95) which was also forgettable Two good things about this restaurant: It's open late and the dish portions are rather large -- definitely larger than Thai Basil in the Asian Ghetto. Who knew a tiny door beneath purple neon lights could lead to such bliss? When I was still in school I used to come here at least two or three times a week. It opens late, it's cheap and the food's ridiculously good. Yes, ridiculously. Atmosphere is lacking but the food is yummy! I recommend the grilled tofu skewers for an appetizer, the favor and texture was spot on. Their noodle dishes are delicious, specifically the flat noodle bowls with veggies and tofu. I also enjoy the thai hot curry with vermicelli noodles and tofu. After watching a late movie, my BF and I were super hungry and wanted to avoid the greasy fried foods served at Denny's. Somehow, greasy food only tastes really good at 1 am when you're completely tossed. So, we searched for a different late night joint and came across Thai Noodle. With only one $ and late night hours, this place is an awesome choice for late night dining. We ordered the calamari and I think #37, which was a noodle dish with chicken. The calamari came out really hot, but extremely chewy & in huge chunks. It wasn't that great, so after a few bites, it pretty much sat all alone on the table for the rest of the meal. The noodle dish was pretty good though, lots of basil, veggies, noodles and some chicken.. definitely not bad for the price. I don't know if I would go out of my way to come here and eat during the day time, but if I'm starving late night, I'd mostly likely come back for more. read more

This place is my late night Thai restaurant. I usually order the Thai Kea Mao with beef (extra extra spicy) or the Thai Boat Noodle (rare beef or the combo) with the flat rice noodle. These dishes are YUMMY!! Oh and their Angel wings, Calamari and Duck Salad are Superb. Angel wings are nicely fried filled massively with silver noodles and vegetables. The Calamari isn't overly battered which is a plus...it's not the best, but better than most places. Duck Salad is very flavorful, only thing is that the duck is a little on the fatty side. The main waitress with the short hair knows me quite well since I go there quite often. Whenever they deliver my entrees to the table, they automatically deliver a small dish of the Thai chilies in fish sauce. Oh my... it's sooooooo good. When she takes my order, she always asks "Thai Kea Mao or Thai Boat today"... hahaha.... I guess that definitely shows that I go there quite often and order the same two dishes!! read more

Places that open till the wee hours of the night are usually not known to be tasty eats, but Thai noodle is definitely not in that category. I use to be a regular here as a student and their pad thai and Boat noodles are amazing. They give you nice quantities and their pad thai tastes more authentic rather that the americanized version that puts in way too much sugar (which I am actually guilty of liking). The boat noodles are also well made. The broth is salty, tangy and savory (don't drink if you have high blood pressure!) with a lot of meat. I don't like places that cut corners by giving you more noodles and less meat so this definitely gets a plus in my book. Service is always greeted with a smile and I never have to wait longer than 5-10 minutes for my food as well either. So not only is this a great place to eat late at night when everything else is closed, its great to eat at anytime. give it a try! read more

***PAD SEE EW*** This is such a wonderful hole in the wall great for late night dinning when that late night hunger strikes!! I came a here on a late friday night after a quick yelp search and I am so glad I did. It is not the fanciest place, but it doesn't matter becuase the food is good enough to over look that factor. I had a curry chicken dish of the special menu off the wall, the pad see eww. They were both really good and full of flavor. This will def be on my list of late night spots!! read more

Open till 1:30am daily, must I say more? Thai Noodle is well lit, has a clean eating area, and the staff is friendly. I've tried several of their dishes but I like alternating between the chicken fried rice and the duck fried rice. Dinner at a thai restaurant isn't complete with a thai ice tea so make sure to grab one. Street parking is sometimes difficult and there is a cheap parking lot off of Berkeley Way. read more

Ah, Thai Noodle. The place to go when you are craving cheap Asian food at 1 AM after a night of drinking. The food isn't spectacular (and, while very affordable, isn't actually dirt cheap), but so tasty after a long night of revelry with friends. The ambiance is definitely that of a hole-in-the-wall. Bright fluorescent lights, strange decor, tables crammed too close together. Bonus points for taking credit card, open late, and take-out. read more

BIG portions. That's the first thing in my mind whenever I go here. You order any of their noodle soups, you get a big bowl of it. You get one of their fried rices, you get a big plate of it. And the price is right - a typical noodle soup goes about 8 to 9 dollars, more if you get either duck or seafood. Perfect for the super-hungry. Don't really have a recommendation, since the stuff I had over the years have been great. Pretty large menu too. You can't go wrong with the usual pad thai or other typical Thai dish, but do check out their specials menu on the wall. read more

The combined energy of the cooks is amazing. It shines through their food. If only they used less salt! Both my fried chicken w/ fried rice and my BF's duck soup were way too salty. We're wondering if they use MSG? We found the server to be friendly. Our server was from Thailand. She didn't have an overly fake "I'll serve you with a smile" attitude but that was okay. The papaya salad was really good! I ordered it medium spicy but as soon as i got it i realized i should have gone with th spicy! However, I also ordered the red chicken curry and that wasnt the best curry i had. The curry was overpowered by the coconut milk so i felt like i was eating spoonful of coconut milk. I ended up not finishing it but my girlfriend took it home and the next day the curry was really good ! The customer service here is amazing! They even pack your food for you as well. read more

BEER GOGGLES! I've never been in here sober or before 12AM so I really don't know if its good or bad. I haven't gotten sick after eating there, but Thai food is certainly not a good hangover cure. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't step foot in this place unless I was walking back from Monkey Head night at Triple Rock. Quick and fairly inexpensive Thai standards (albeit heavily Westernized) at this utilitarian hole-in-the-wall. No great claims to authenticity, but it's decent for what it is and the fact that they're open until 1:30am nightly makes them particularly noteworthy. I always order chicken, pork or vegetable dishes, and they've been consistent with those, however the couple of seafood entrees I've tried have been less succcessful, (to put it mildly...) and pricer to boot. Pad himmapahn gai, pad gra pow, eggplant with basil, and red curry pumpkin are usually safe choices. On the other hand... the tom kha gai used to be quite good and just plain SUCKS now. They don't even seem to use galangal in it at all any more, and minimal lemongrass. Instead you get a bunch of sliced onion floating in it. What's that about? Stick to the rice plates. read more

You know you go here to sober up on a night of drinking or when you want something spicy in the early AM. Great for friends who are cheap/poor. i.e. me, food is decent, not the greatest but I always finish my Curry Duck with all the crushed peanuts in the condiments jar. The service is decent and its always fun to see who still works there after taking 4 years worth of my money. I miss the sweet Mexican taffy after my meal, what gives? I went on a saturday around lunchtime and most of the table were occupied. I ordered some chicken soup with egg noodles. It contained fish cake, balls, and some chicken. The broth was very bland. My friend ordered the Boat noodle soup and he said it also lacked flavor. We also shared the seafood salad which tasted like lime juice, fish sauce and crushed red pepper, not very exciting at all. The atmosphere is not as dumpy as i expected based on other reviews. Service was good and the prices were fair. I don't think I'll be coming back here again. Nothing special. read more

Man.....I would have given this place a higher rating if it wasn't for their lack of customer service the past week. I was staying in albany visiting the other half and we both decided we were hungry for some cheap thai food, and instead of going to Thai Basil and waiting for a good 30 minutes we decided to go to Thai Noodle. Right when we walked in it was PACKED, but there were a few empty seats, now instead of the waitress seating us in a decent fair lit area she sits us at the VERY LAST table in the back where our only view is the stained yellow walls of the back broom closet. (GORDON RAMSEY WOULD NOT APPROVE). That made me a lil bit upset, but not enough for me to walk out. We ordered our usual, Fried Chicken over Fried Rice and Pad See Ew. They were good enough to satisfy. When we got our water...uhmmm hello FLOATERS, yuck there was something white in my drink that didn't belong so I ordered green tea. Who serves tea in a water glass that's steaming hot with no handle. When do I drink my tea? After I burn myself.....really now. Shame. The service was excellent the first time. It seems like when they're packed they don't know what to do. read more

The food is pretty good. It is spiced pretty well - not overwhelmingly, but with enough condiments that you can spice it up if you need. Portions are pretty good size, service is pretty good too. The Rad Na has gotten me through enough post-gym sessions very well. The tom yum kai isn't shabby, although you'd do better at Thai Delight further up Shattuck. Good satay, pretty good curry. The fact that they are one of the few places not to roll up the sidewalk in Berkeley super early is a definite plus. At the same time, the food is also a bit greasy and there aren't too many vegetarian items not counting selecting tofu for your noodles here - although that's not quite an issue if you've spent the last couple of hours at triple rock. The worst part about the place is that the walls are a bit dirty and the place could use a paint job for sure. The atmosphere really brings it down from a 4 to a 3. Still, I'd say that it beats than going all the way to Fruitvale taco trucks or Oakland Chinatown for late night dining. The food is as good or better than those options and is priced quite reasonably. read more

One of my favorite Thai places for five reasons: 1. Food: the food is consistently good. I dont think i have ever eaten here and left not satisfied with my meal. I've had a fair amount of different dishes, and they have all been good. 2. Portions: the portions (considering what you pay) are huge! In addition, the plates/dishes are nice :) 3. Cost: definitely one of the best bang for you buck thai places in the bay area. The first time i ate here, i remember thinking "7 bucks? aw man, this place is gonna suck." omg.. SOO WRONG! best 7 bucks i ever spent! 4. Service: the servers are always nice! Your food comes quick, and if you need anything extra they bring it to you in a jiffy. They are also very friendly. 5. Great prices and fun atmosphere but I am a Thai food snob since I spent almost a year in Thailand. I LOVE salty food and this food, at least the one time I came, was SO salty I could barely finish. I loved the menu and choices and the flavor was good but the salt totally killed it for me for BOTH the dishes that I tried. Oh and the bathroom was the MOST disgusting bathroom I have ever stepped foot in. There was a gigantic industrial sized overflowing garbage can right in the middle of the bathroom. Been here a bunch of times and gonna rate it finally because got something new that i just love - the pad sen won (#41). I liked it so much i got it 2x in one week! it's glass noodle w/ big chunks of white meat chicken, juicy shrimp, loads of random veggies - cabbage, tomatoes, sprouts, carrots, onions, and eggs. Really tasty and feels healthy because each bite has so much veggie crunch. I've also gotten a bunch of other things there - thai bbq chicken, pad sew ew, pad kee mao, thai fried rice, pumpkin curry, duck red curry, and everyhing's been good to bomb. Another reason I've decided to give it 4 stars is the consistency - good food, good portions, and quick service, all at a very reasonable price that's open late (1:30 AM). 1 star for opening LATE 2nd star for the PRICE & mediocre food I recommend the pad kee mao with beef & the flat rice noodle, the salmon wrapped in banana leaf was okay, but i don't think i would get it again, & the thai tea is pretty good. It's pretty similar to the king of thai in alameda except thai noodle takes credit cards. Good place to go if you got the munchies hella late. read more
