    The ODEON 14th March 2026 Yes, I was here back in the 1980s, a kid with my friends, we would hang out here after hours with our French restaurant comrades. Oh, we were so chic in our designer garb. Spending summers in the south of France. Speaking French to the waiters. I loved it all. Simpler times yes, I love the Odeon. The Odeon is iconic New York. Propriétér, Keith McNally, whose memoir I am currently reading, brought the French Bistro trend back in the day to lower Manhattan, also at the time, Anthony Bourdain of Les Halles. Which was another hangout of ours, but unfortunately gone now. It's great to see the Odeon still here 40 years later. Going strong. Très Chic. Très French. Très Fun. Only more tourists are arriving by busloads due to the popularity of LOVE STORY (about JFK Jr and Carolyn Bessette on FX currently). Thanks, Ryan Murphy. 5 Stars still.

    This place is from what I remember back in the 1980's. Located in Tribeca, this restaurant was in the middle of nowhere. Soho was a loft district, becoming an artist enclave and Tribeca was a former industrial area in transition. Not a lot has changed inside, from what I can see. The food, however is better than ever. I had the boeuf bourguignon. The beef was like buddah. Rich gravy, beef broth with carrots, mushrooms, onions. I loved it. Even my wife's salad, I mean, how good can a salad be, was delicious. She had it with a nice salmon. Service was prompt and efficient. The vibes from the decor are where Pastis designers may have drawn inspiration. A New York icon, to be sure.

Let's talk food.. love the Veggie and Yellowfin Tuna Burger, building my own omelette, French Onion soup with a Caesar salad. The desserts are classic.. Creme Brulee, Sticky Toffee Pudding, Sugar Doughnuts and their homemade ice cream. The next love.. the dining room. Que puis-je dire ? ( what else can I say). The interior is cozy and sometimes tight, featuring red booths and a high-energy, candlelit ambiance. The booths are spacious and good seating for people watching. The room has a definite European vibe. Rochelle and I met up for lunch today and decided to build our own omelette. One can choose three ingredients from ham, Cheddar, spinach, mushrooms, Gruyere, tomatoes and onions and choose soft, medium or well. The side is salad or fries. I chose the Gruyere, spinach and onion with fries, Rochelle chose tomato, cheddar and cucumber with salad. We enjoyed our omelette very much and shared fries and salad. I ordered bottomless cup of coffee. For dessert, summertime weather in Spring, we ordered ice cream. Vanilla and mint chocolate chip hit the spot. The service is excellent, courteous and very accommodating. Shout out to Angelina for great service. If you are looking to have a long meal with a great dining vibe, The Odeon is THE place.     The Odeon is one of those classic NYC spots that feels timeless the moment you step inside. Cozy seating? Definitely. A little tight? Absolutely. But honestly, it's part of the charm--exactly what you'd expect from a true New York institution. We kicked things off with the French onion soup, and it was phenomenal: rich, deeply savory broth and a glorious layer of melty cheese that made every spoonful comfort in a bowl. The salmon that followed was a bit on the fishier side for my taste, but the tender, perfectly cooked steak frites completely saved the day. And whatever you do, don't skip dessert. The crème brûlée was absolute perfection: silky custard with that satisfying crack of caramelized sugar on top. Service was friendly and attentive, and despite the lively Tribeca buzz, the space manages to feel family friendly, warm, and welcoming. The Odeon remains a quintessential NYC dining experience!

    I took my childhood friend to the Odean as a celebration of her visit and new beginnings for the next steps in my life. We're boomers--LOL and booked a 5.15 pm table. You know quiet, not crowded. Not the case. The restaurant was hopping. People of all ages were there. The food as I remembered was amazing, coffee fabulous, drinks yummy and the service attentive but not overbearing. Lovely atmosphere from hosts who greet you and at the end bid you goodbye. Wonderful, upbeat vibe. Highly high recommend. Love the Art Deco. Thank you to everyone for a lovely evening especially our lovely server.

    Appetizers - Crispy Calamari - can't go wrong with calamari. Crispy, chewy and paired with the perfect dip. Salmon Tartar - perfectly diced salmon with avocado. Entrees- Moules Frites - a little disappointed with the mussels. It wasn't flavorful enough and almost each of them had shells inside Steak Frites - perfectly juiced steak paired with the BEST fries. Dessert - Crème brûlée - ended dinner with the best dessert! It was perfectly burnt and caramelized. We finished this in five minutes.

    Had not been to The Odeon for a long time and returned for dinner on a Friday evening. The restaurant was very, very busy but they were able to seat us within a few minutes of our reservation time. The food was okay - we had the French Onion Soup, Salmon Tartare, Croque Monsieur and Flank Frites and for dessert, the Profiteroles. None really stood out but not bad. Our server Sabrina was friendly and helpful, the atmosphere was very lively but a bit hectic.

    An NYC and American Classic. As iconic a restaurant as any other in the city, with a storied history, that nevertheless has seamlessly remained relevant for over 4 decades, an astonishing acheivement for a New York City restaurant. Somehow I nearly made it a full 20 years as an NYC resident before dining here, but I've surely made up for lost time over the past couple of years and now will go here at any chance I am lucky enough to get. While the burger is justifiably beloved, and you in fact really can't go wrong with anything on the classic American Brasserie menu of refined Americana my go-to order here is most often the Steak Frites which features a reliably perfect, impeccably marbled and lusciously charred New York Strip along with the legendary house fries, on most everyone worth taking seriously's shortlist of the best in the city. It's also quite likely my overall personal favorite steak in the city currently. For an uncharge, it's offered sauced with a few of the different classics, namely au poivre, garlic butter, Béarnaise, or Roquefort. Again, you can't go wrong with any preparation or lack thereof , I generally opt for the sauce on a ramekin on the side, the better to appreciate the perfectly prepared steak on it's own, and adding the sauce sparingly as well as leaving some to dip the fries in. On the occasions I'm convinced to stray from my beloved steak it's often times on account of a particularly beguiling special, like a deliciously vibrant pasta special w/asparagus, spring peas. artichoke on a rainy early spring day, beautifully highlighting the farmers markets bounty of the moment. There's also wonderful classic daily specials for each day of the week like a delectable Sunday Chicken Pot Pie. I would highly recommend if possible, if dining alone or with one other friend or partner sitting at the gorgeous, classic bar. Not only will you get to appreciate being in the hands of likely the most professional and charming bar staff in Manhattan, making some of the best cocktails, but you will also be exceedingly likely to have the opportunity to get into a interesting and/or wild conversation with a classic New York character, quite possibly a famous or infamous one at that. While the prices certainly come off as cheap in the eyes of many, other than perhaps the fabulously wealthy and glamorous residents of it's surrounding Tribeca neighborhood, perhaps the most clout-coveted precinct of them all, considering it's location in said hood, it actually does kind of rate as a square deal.

    Had a reservation for 4:45pm dinner on a Thursday night and the place was already packed but we were welcomed warmly and promptly seated. Server Maddie C. was friendly and helpful with our menu questions. We read prior reviews and decided on the mussels, steak frites and dessert. The mussels arrived inedible, undercooked. I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt since the place was already packed this early and we're only human. They were very apologetic and quickly asked what else they could bring us. We chose the buffalo chicken dumplings, tasty but tough dough 7/10. The steak frites and fries were 10/10, the garlic butter was stellar. Dipped everything in it!!!! We settled on the molten chocolate cake, which had an ice cream scoop(homemade), and a cookie crumble. AMAZING 10/10. Even with a full house you could have a conversation and not have to shout across a 2 ft. table. Overall 4.5. Close transit proximity is a plus, near several different subway and bus options. If you haven't been, definitely check it out.

    Iconic retro brasserie celebrating its 40+ year legacy in Tribeca. The Odeon continues to be a favorite among restaurant goers sitting on the corner of West Broadway proudly displaying its exterior presence in bold, neon lights. My friend and I visited The Odeon for a Saturday brunch on a Springlike day. The entire dining room was cozy and quaint as well as very busy and loud. We kicked things off with an Aperol Spritz. Theirs was okay. Certainly not the best and I've had my share. They topped it off with 3 olives--totally not signature of this cocktail. We discarded the olives. As far as main, we selected the 3 Egg Omelet with home potatoes. For fillings, I selected fine herbs, mushrooms, spinach and tomatoes. This dish isn't served with toast or any kind of bread. While my friend chose different fillings, we both enjoyed the omelet accompanied by delicious potatoes (fries or salad were other side choices). It was excellent. Looking forward to returning. The Odeon has the New York vibe right where it belongs. Solid dining experience.

    French onion soup was good. The one at pastis is better though. There could have been a thicker and richer broth and more crusty cheese on the side. The creme brulee was yummy but it didn't have the crust in the center of the dessert. Overall liked the food and service. Beautiful ambiance.

This visit was a frustrating exception. The app activated the swipe button shortly after 5PM -- which Maman and several other stores have recently started allowing as an early pickup signal. I went to the store accordingly. The young male Hispanic employee at the register refused to hand over my bag, insisting the pickup window didn't start until 5:15. All the bags were already packed and ready. There were no other customers in line. I tried to explain how the app works and that early pickup had been allowed here before, but he repeatedly cut me off. At one point I said "if you want to play by the book, so be it" -- meaning it as a neutral acknowledgment. He took offense, raised his voice, and kept repeating "I don't play, you play" in an increasingly hostile tone. I asked if he understood the expression. He just kept repeating "I don't play." When I asked to speak with a manager, he said there wasn't one. When I asked what a customer is supposed to do when there's a problem with an employee, he told me to come back tomorrow and talk to him. This was completely avoidable. The bags were ready. It was a 5-10 minute window, allowed by the app. The confrontation served no purpose. I noticed the review posted the day before mine mentions "poor customer service at the register" -- I suspect we encountered the same person. Maman has a good reputation worth protecting. I'd encourage management to review this interaction and make sure this particular staff is trained properly.

My one small gripe: I got charged for two lemonades, which stung a little given that (a) it's lemonade, and (b) the glass was on the petite side to begin with. Minor quibble, though. We were told the kitchen was backed up. this is apparently the norm. For appetizers, the French onion soup was a gold star dish. My friend had the goat cheese salad which she said was also very good. The Chicken Cordon Bleu was good, and a hard-to-find dish in NYC. While eating our entrees, the server never checked on how things were or if we needed anything. Once finished, we sat there for a long time waiting for our plates to be cleared, and finally had to "announce" that we were done and request our dessert (as we had ordered the prix fixe menu). For dessert we ordered the Dame Blanche and Profiteroles. I would recommend neither. The ice cream (in both) was poor quality, crystallized and not creamy. A real shame. In all, the meal too 2.5 hours due to the slow service. The soup remains fantastic. I'm downgrading my review to recommend this spot only for soup and salad and not a full, hours-long meal. For that, it's 5 stars, for a full meal a middling 3.
