Do they make fresh veggie lumpia like the ones you get from Goldilocks? I live in Redwood City - far away from Filipino restaurants.

Not on their menu, few Filipino choices available. Shanghai lumpia, tocino, longanisa and chicken adobo were all I can recall.

Is this closed? Just tried to come on Sunday and it looks abandoned?

The sandwich was also loaded with mayonnaise, which made it feel very heavy and greasy. Combined with the salty pork, it ended up tasting like mostly fat and salt. The bread didn't seem particularly fresh or house-made either, which made the overall experience even more disappointing given the price. I hate leaving negative reviews, but for the cost and quality, this was not a sandwich I could finish, let alone enjoy.

We came on a Thursday and we were one of the first in line even though we arrived just five minutes before opening. The dining room had energy but wasn't loud. We just see amazing looking plates being brought to everyone around us. I've tried a couple dishes here that weren't for me in the past but once you know what you like here and see the things GAO does especially well, you'll never have a bad experience

Sadly I will not be going here anymore. I've been supporting this family owned restaurant since they were on El Camino Real 20 years ago! Family that owns it is wonderful and we became regulars there even though we live all the way in Hayward Union City area. After an incident that happened with their staff (a mexican or middle eastern younger male waiter) and how poorly and terrible we were treated, we will not be supporting this place anymore. One Saturday morning, a party of 7 of us checked in and put our names down on the clipboard as usual. About 40 minutes later we were seated by the above described waiter. We gave our orders to a separate waitress a few moments after. She was very nice. After receiving our waters and coffee, the above described waiter came to our table about 3-4 minutes later and told us he made a mistake and sent us to the wrong table and we should get our drinks and get up and wait in the lobby. I asked him if he was serious and he said yeah can you guys please get your drinks and just wait in the lobby. I told him that we all ordered already and I just leave received our drinks. He began to become annoyed and very difficult. His facial expressions and body posture clearly show that. I kindly asked to talk to his manager. The younger son of the owners and managers the place now came out and talk to me. He recognized me and we chatted for a little bit. I kindly explained to him that's what had just happened. He apologized and said let me make it right and you guys can go ahead and just stay here. Later he brought out two lumpia appetizer plates on the house! Everything went well from that point on, we had a different waitress and our food came out delicious as usual. We stayed a good hour or so because we conducted our meeting with the different staff people I was with. Our very family which is for checking on us every once in a while to refill our drinks and take our dirty dishes away. As we are leaving, the male waiter that was written was earlier sort of clapping his hands behind the counter and yelling, " yes! They're Finally they're leaving!" Is that over and over again and other customers and staff were looking at him confused and puzzled. I made eye contact with him and I said are you directing that to us? I sure hope you're not! He became even more rude and started saying things under his breath or talking to the cook over the counter about us. Then the manager came back and walked us outside and apologized again. I asked him if he heard and saw the behavior of his staff? I said he definitely needs to be disciplined or we need an apology! I explained to him how long we've been supporting this restaurant and I've never been treated this way. I was embarrassed and annoyed. He continued to apologize and some of my staff were just telling me let's just go. If you do visit this place, be sure to watch out for that Mexican dude. Maybe request a different waiter or waitress to help you! If he is still employed by them, that will be disappointing to hear or see. You will enjoy the food and the very lovely family that owns it. I just don't want to go back there and be treated that way again. Sadly the other 6 people I was with will not be supporting them either, and I'm sure they have family and friends that they will pass this information along as well. read more

It is obvious the other reviews on here are solicited from the owners to their friends or family because I heard at least 3 other tables complaining about their food while I was there. *****f I could give a -5 star review, I would. We took our parents from out of town here. We were so embarrassed. They served one of our dishes almost ten minutes later than the rest and then he couldn't even eat it. He ordered an omelet. The potatoes were raw and the plate had water covering the entire bottom like as if the vegetables were frozen and half cooked where the water was left when it thawed out. Since the first omelet took so long we didn't send the dish back for a new one but I showed our waitress the dish and told her to show the manager and have it removed from the bill since it was barely touched. After what seemed like eternity she came back and said she showed the food to the owner and he only charged us 4.99 for the eggs. Please understand. .. It's not about the money. It is about the fact my 73 yr old father was leaving to drive home with no breakfast and we are left so embarrassed about choosing this restaurant to take them to. I told the waitress to tell the owner to look at the food they served us again and tell me he would eat it. And that he must not be trying to sell food here because the food they served us was literally disgusting. And to charge us was insulting. What a nightmare!!! Rating: (4/5) Title: Big Portions, Great Food, But Needs Some TLC I recently visited this restaurant for breakfast and was pleasantly surprised by the generous portions and excellent service. I ordered pancakes, which were enormous, and my eggs were cooked perfectly. The four slices of bacon were crispy and flavorful. Here's my breakdown: * Food: 10/10 * Service: 10/10 * Customer Service: 10/10 The customer service was outstanding, with the staff being friendly and attentive throughout my visit. I also noticed that the guest beside me ordered a Filipino dish, and the aroma was simply irresistible. They even needed a to-go box because the portions were so large--they could easily feed two people! Food was provided hot and ready in less than 5 after placing order. All the food was fresh. I love the fact they know the customer personally. However, I have one major concern that almost made me walk out. The restaurant has an unpleasant odor that seems to come from the old carpet. I highly recommend removing the soiled carpet and replacing it with new flooring (not carpet). With a little renovation and some savvy social media marketing, this place could easily become a local hotspot, especially since it's conveniently located right off the freeway. In summary, if you're looking for a spot with great food and large portions, this is the place to be. Today I went to the pantry after a very long time, and there was a long waiting list, but we still decided to wait. After the sat us on Our table and got the food, we asked for to go boxes, the server brought em to us and while I was packing my food I noticed a long and tangle hair, it looked like many many hairs all tangle together, it was DIS-GUS-TING, I brought it up to the servers attention and she ignored the fact that I found such thing on my food. She asked me if I still wanted to take the food wit me, I said no and went to the register to pay, the owner brought our food container back to us and said that we were forgetting our food, I told him what happened and he IGNORED us too!!!!! He charged us the full amount without even apologizing for the bad experience!!! I would definitely not go back again!!!! read more

BEST BREAKFAST DINER IN THE PENINSULA! By far! The food is ALWAYS delicious every time I come here, and they really do give you a GIANT BREAKFAST. And on top of that, they don't charge you crazy prices for the quality and the amount of food! It's very affordable and worth every penny. Run by some of the nicest people I have ever met, and not once have I ever had any issues here about anything. I am also very happy for them on their new bigger location. Only downside is if you come on a weekend, Youre lookin to wait at least 45 mins, depending on the crowd of course. But hey, during the week, I'm always seated right away. The Pantry has a lot to be desired on the outside and honestly, if you aren't from the area or didn't yelp, you would never think to go there. An old ugly building in a ghetto area proves that reputation and food is what drives a restaurant to succeed. Funny that a Filipino family serves American diner food, but they do it right and even though it's food you can get at any diner or home, portions are large and asian food alternatives are always a nice choice. I give The Pantry 5 stars because I love the inside diner feel and not eating carbs.. they gave me bigger protein portions instead of just deleting the others. Service was timely and only con was they don't serve fresh fruit as a side, but that's definitely something I can overlook. read more

I'm a Fried Chicken kind of girl so guess what... Came here with a couple of my Filipino friends and they recommended Chicken and Pancake and loved it. The service was great, they even made sure that your coffee was full even though they were absolutely busy and had extra time to make sure to check on us while we were eating. This is a great place for breakfast and all around. I have been coming here for years ! Food is great and at a great price. Jessy is very helpful and always attentive. One of the best family owned and run restaurants left. All their portion are huge and you always get enough food. The kitchen does an outstanding job getting the food out quickly and hot. My favorites are breakfast with corned beed hash eggs, potatoes and toast. Thy have a wonderful variety of different sausages, including sweet fillipino style langostino. Service is fast and friendly. They remember your name and family. Even with long lines the wait always seems short. read more

Did The Pantry change ownership? This was a family favorite for years. We haven't been there since 2017. We were disappointed. The food was awful. Our food tasted like they don't clean their grills. Bad tasting coffee, cold toast, overly charred bacon. The waitstaff seemed nice, but not like the warm welcome we were used to. I hope this helps management make some necessary changes. read more

I dont quite understand why the rate is 4 star for this place. I visited my friend, and went this place from looking up in yelp. Service is horrible. Rude. The waitress is so young, like college kid who doesn't care, and she got upset when i ask her question about the menu. I told owner about it, owner doesnt care either. I would have to say that i go here whenever I stay at the Marriott for work. It's a nice walk, probably like 5-10 minutes from the hotel. LOVEEE the filipino fusion breakfast/lunch. I would never order it at a restaurant for a sandwich; it's for grilled cheese or burgers (and even then I avoid). The sandwich had mayo and chopped lettuce. Overall, the sandwich was good - a neatly done, standard cold pastrami sandwich with good bread. The salad had nice presentation: fresh, chopped romaine, carrot sticks, sliced purple onion, cherry tomatoes, and dressing). But again, it was a standard salad I could make at home. We arrived from 101N to El Camino which required an unprotected left on 21st so I recommend a different route. There was ample parking. The location looks kind of industrial, which can have its own charm - sort of like NY vibes. The entrance looked like a backdoor entrance and there didn't appear to be restaurant seating - no tables and chairs. There was a chair, but not for eating at. Or maybe I missed it if there was an area to eat. From my first experience, this seems like a takeout hole-in-the-wall. It reminded me of a bakery in Modesto that was known only by word-of-mouth which only had take-out baked goods. I docked a star because it currently does not have an ADA-compliant entrance. They could install a ramp or maybe a button for service and a sign with braille if it's just a take-out place. Why does it matter? It's federal law. Any business open to the public must be accessible to people disabilities. Otherwise, that's discrimination against people with disabilities and you can be sued if you are non-compliant. I had family who became wheelchair-bound so it's something that I take notice of. I plan on returning to try out the Peruvian offerings.
