We came here for a quick lunch before leaving Healdsburg and were so pleased! First, who can say no to beignets? Second, how about beignets + a great sandwich? The beignets were delicious and it was a joy to sink your teeth into its pillow-y goodness. Their sandwich was able to hold its own against the beignets (which I am biased towards and was completely surprised that I enjoyed the sandwich so much). This was a really fun restaurant to visit on a cold February morning they are dog friendly and our golden retriever honey loved sitting outside on their patio. Our waiter was so kind and attentive and was so apologetic when things even took just a little bit of time which we really didn't mind. We got the French toast and the hash both specialties and we finished our plates. The beignets were also really good light airy and fluffy although the powdered sugar got everywhere which was just funny to us! I called in an order of beignets to be picked up to accompany our breakfast. An order comes with three beignets, and upon arrival, I ended up having to wait a few more minutes for them to be ready. I've never had beignets before, but I thought these were good! They were warm and dusted with plenty of powdered sugar. I've heard lots of good things about The Parish Cafe with all the raves being for their beignets so I was anxious to try these powdery delectibles. But before the beignets we decided to order a meal. To start the meal off for the table we ordered the hush puppies & fried pickles. The fried pickles had a nice tang with a slight bit of heat which made it scrumptious. I am a nut for hush puppies & these had great flavor, were moist, & not dry at all. They were so good. If I remember correctly my friend had the blackened catfish po-boy sandwich & liked it. My daughter & I split the fried green tomato po-boy sandwich, which was good however I think they should've omitted the regular red tomatos since it already had fried green tomatoes. The 2 layers of tomatoes made for a soggy sandwich not to mention the tomatoes slipping & sliding all over the place with the shredded lettuce. We both had a cup of their andouille sausage & chicken gumbo & let me tell you this was the dish that stole the show for me! The consistancy of the soup was perfect, the seasoning was great, it had a nice bit of heat but it wasn't overpowering, the andouille sausage & chicken were delicious. This gumbo was spot on & something I would order again & again! And lastly the beignets. They were good but nothing spectacular to me, plus it had way too much powder sugar on it for my tastes as I felt like that was all I was eating. The staff was friendly & the service was fast. I was really impresed at how fast everything came out considering they were packed. It can get a tad bit loud inside so you might not catch everything your dining companion(s) are saying. They have patio seating with umbrellas to shade you from the sun as well has heaters so if it's a bit chilly you won't freeze outside. They list on their menu that they cannot split checks more than 4 ways. And there is ample parking in their private lot. I definitely wished that maybe they had been a little less heavy handed with the powdered sugar though. I have to admit, I was actually a bit disappointed with it. I thought the whole plate lacked some serious seasoning. Additionally, one of my eggs was watery. My friend had the spinach and artichoke omelette. She loved the amount of artichoke that was included, but multiple pieces of her house potatoes were rock hard, fried to submission. All in all, I loved the Southern flair even though it didn't work out perfectly for me. I definitely think I would still give The Parish another try if I come back to Healdsburg though. Being a southern girl, I really wanted this place to be amazing. Instead, it was ok. The okra flavor was good, but it was a little tough. The gumbo was mostly rice and sausage. (I did request no rice..) My husband enjoyed the fried green tomatoes, I wasn't crazy about the chunks instead of slices. We shared a shrimp with blackened catfish plate. One of the best Eggs Benedict's I've ever had in my life. UghhhhHhhhggGghhhhhhh....Where do I even start? Let's start with the tedious stuff first...The Parish is located towards the south end of the round about. Or maybe it's the west...? Bah what is directions. What you DO need to know is that there is a parking lot. It is shared with other businesses in the area so parking could be iffy depending on the time of day. However you should be able to find a park; even if it means parking pretty far. We came here Saturday morning and we were sat right away. It looked like we got there at just the right time because we got the last available seats at the bar. I'm happy we did because we had a front row seat of the kitchen. There were small glass windows that separated us from the bar which made it cool to watch the food going in and out while we sipped on our Southern Belle's. Like lemonade? You should definitely try it then. It's basically a mimosa with a Lemonade twist! OH! And don't get me started on the Beignets. Sooooo fluffy and flavorful! But the main question(As always..) was what did I really want to eat? I sat there and thought about my life once again as I sipped on my boozy lemonade. Did I want to try the Breakfast Sandwich? Don't kid yourself Anthony...You know you want to try that Crab Benedict. The breading on this Fried Oyster balanced out the bitter flavor of the Oyster...But WAIT. There's more!! After the Fried Oyster taste you get the crunch of the toast. Crunchy on the outside but warm and fluffy on the inside. Oh no. I'm not done yet. By this time the taste of Louisiana sets in and you are a bit mind blown. Because at one point you are eating a delicious heavenly golden egg, but then you get the taste of the crawfish and pepps and it's almost like you are eating Gumbo/Jambalaya while eating Eggs Benedict. Like two amazing dishes, packed into one. Oh and if you are fan of the spiciness, you most definitely should put some of that Donkey Hot Sauce on it. It's not even that spicy. It really just completes the whole package in my honest opinion. ~Sigh~ And then my plate was clear. All that remained was the remnants of the Hollandaise sauce, the egg and hot sauce on my plate. I'm blown away with their ability to serve so many people and still have the food be so delicious with only a few people working. We ordered a cup of gumbo, cup of jambalaya and the seafood platter. To end it all, we had yo try their beignets thst they are known for and their french coffees. Overall, food was very flavorful. Incredible place and one of the only decent breakfast spots in Healdsburg. I visit about twice a week but only ever get the same two things because they stand alone. The first one (at breakfast) is the breakfast po boy. Savory ham, eggs, spinach and provolone on toasted buttered French bread. Every part compliments every other part. Get there early. We stopped here for lunch on our way up to a couple wineries. We got there right at 11 (when they open) and there were already a few people there. They were out of several things, but thankfully none of them are what we were planning to order. We ended up getting beignets, a cup for gumbo, side of jambalaya, the muffuletta and a side of fries. The beignets were good and super fresh, they were wicked hot when they came out. The gumbo was alright, but the jambalaya was really good. The one downside about both though was there was no shrimp in either? Maybe that's why they were pretty cheap, but the two of them together was a good amount of food. The muffuletta was fine, but very overwhelmingly olive-y, it was also kind of dry and could have used a sauce or condiment like Mayo or mustard. The side of fries were seasoned really nice. The bloody was rich and flavorful with a kick. For our main, I decided to go with their shrimp and grits while my husband went with their houma hash.
