Spectacular decor & amazing delicious food! However we had a poor experience in the beginning with the bartender (Jill B). It took a long time to be seated, mind you the dining area was completely empty. She made us feel uncomfortable when she finally approached us to seat us. We sat for literally 10 minutes waiting to be asked what we wanted to drink until I got up from my seat & asked her if she was actually going to serve us in which she heavily sighed and rolled her eyes & said she had no servers & continue to complain about being busy & having no servers yet was standing around talking about her personal life to everyone at the bar & blatantly, ignoring us in neglecting her duty to act professional and provide somewhat decent customer service skills which she obviously lacks & could use more training. She was very inattentive and clearly flustered and easily annoyed. It's not our fault they didn't have enough staff and I believe we were very patient and understanding of situation had she just nicely informed us and apologized for the inconvenience. She could benefit from more in depth training in customer service, restaurant representation and professionalism at the very least. Thank god she found us another waitress who happened to be sweet ass a peach because otherwise I would've not returned. I hope my next experience is better. read more

I can't say enough great things about The Pearl. It is amazing to have a Portuguese restaurant that you don't have to travel forever to get it. I always order the shrimp mocambique and am never disappointed. My fiancé gets the chicken mocambique. We went there last on my birthday and had a really nice, attentive waitress. I love the atmosphere of this restaurant, the day we went it was a very slow day so we basically had a whole restaurant to ourselves plus another two or three families. Even with that being said our waitress kept us waiting A few times over the reasonable limit! she was very nice but it seemed like she kept forgetting about us. Our meals came on time and they were absolutely delicious and Portuguese so I love the homemade tasting meal. I was going to order a meal to go as well, and the order needed to be put before we were done so that we wouldn't have to wait much the waitress forgot it so we ended up waiting about 30 minutes extra. Excellent food. Really wonderful decor. The bathroom even carries the pearl theme and is spic and span clean. Peter has the Portuguese steak. Just wonderful. Done perfectly. Steak with a strip of ham and two eggs, rice and sliced / baked potatoes. I had the chicken Serrano special. French fries were real, home made. Portuguese rice and brown gravy. Chicken was moist and flavorful, topped with sautéed shrimp. Lemon rice pudding was to die for. Also would recommend Grandma's custard layered with biscotti - yum! We will be back for sure! I forgot to mention that they bring bread to the table - either fresh mini Portuguese rolls or a crusty bread with a corn meal base. Don't know why one of the dark haired girl bartenders was exempt from wearing a mask and following the Covid regulations but it turned an enjoyable night out into an uncomfortable night where we wished we had y gone out. Not only was she not wearing her mask she was talking extremely loud. People feel like they want to support local businesses and feel as safe as they can by following the protocols. We've dined out several times and this is the only location where we experienced service without a mask. If you're going out, do yourself a favor and choose elsewhere! read more

Outdoor seating available, very spacious. Waitress was nice and patient with the recommendations. Went with four other people and ordered one app and 5 entrees to share family style. Huge portions, so if you're ordering just one dish for yourself, it's definitely going to fill you up. Favorite dish was the grilled octopus. The tentacles were thick so was worried that it was going to be extra chewy but it wasn't. Octopus was tender while retaining just the right amount of chewiness to it (one of the better octopus dishes I've had ever) and flavor was good, not too salty or too bland. The little neck app goes great with the bread they serve too (bread soaks up all that yummy sauce). Everything else was good. The rice that came with the Portuguese steak and shrimp Mozambique was very reminiscent of the rice I had at preschool. Only gripe was that the pork was a little dry. This place was the worst Portuguese restaurant I've ever been to. I called them up on a Saturday night at 9pm to order take out and was told it would be an hour. I'm fine with that, it was late Saturday night and besides, a delicious Portuguese steak is worth the wait. I ordered a junior Portuguese Steak, which according to the menu listed on Yelp, was $12.95, and a Steak sandwich for $8.95. I get there 55 mins later, it looks like the food has already been sitting there bagged up. The bill comes to $29 and change after tax. I'm kinda confused so I ask why the bill doesn't reflect the total, they explained that the price of beef went up because of COVID, so I totally get it and don't mind paying the total. I get back to my hotel room about 8 mins later and the food is completely cold. Like the fat in the sauce surrounding the steak has already coagulated in the container. If you tell someone to wait an hour but their food is ready 35 mins later, it's kinda fucked up to just let them pick up food that's been sitting there for 25 mins. I'm starving at this point, so I really don't care that yhe food is cold. I cut into my steak which is medium rare the way I ordered, but find I have to literally saw through it and chew it 36 times because THEY SERVED ME A FUCKING CUBE STEAK. What's a cube steak? It's that cheap ass cut of steak that's like $3.99 at the grocery store and it looks like ground hamburger. Cube steak should never be grilled without either being marinated in some sort of vinegar & oil based marinade to help break it down or braised. But nah they grilled up and served a big ole slab of cube meat. When I order a steak, I don't expect to be served cheap cuts. The French fries and rice were solid, but who pays $18 to eat fries and rice? Overall extremely disappointing experience and would probably not return here again. But last two times, I went one time at 12:30pm for my bday and asked for Polvo Guisado (Octopus Stew) they said they didn't have any. 12:30pm and it's on the specials menu and didn't have anymore. Pathetic! Ordered something else and gross!!!! Came here today 3/11/23 ask for Polvo Guisado again as once again on menu. She took order and comes back with Polvo à Lagareiro?! Gross don't like it. Wow. Some interesting, yet comfortable flavors. Started with the Portuguese soup. Similar to a pasta e fagioli, but extra kale and a few other things. Added a dash of salt and it was great. I prefer it to be under salted coming from the kitchen, so this was just right. Dinner was Chicken Mozambique. It's a thin, flavorful, mildly spicy sauce with a lot of turmeric-like color, some tang from vinegar and some finely shredded vegetables. Not a thick goopy sauce that coats the proteins, but one that adds flavor and begs you to use a spoon to get more in your mouth!! Fantastic for dipping your bread into! The owner is a very pleasant, cheerful woman who stopped to check on my meal. She said she prefers the Shrimp Mozambique to the chicken but her son likes the chicken and they sell more of it. She let me sample the shrimp and I think they're both right!! The shrimp brings out the sauce more. The chicken develops almost an Italian flavor. Either is great. And you can substitute the sides so I went with mixed veggies and mashed potatoes. Comfort food with a fun twist. Service was prompt and always with a smile. Even the runner who brought things out was cheerful. That means a lot! I'll be back the next time I'm in New England!! You should try it. read more

Placed our drink order quickly and told the server who was also the bar tender e were ready to order . Took our order and did not receive our food for over an hour. When asked they apologized for the wait .Bartender said he would check the kitchen. We were sitting in the bar area and he never left the bar to check our order. I get that you are busy but please have someone check if you cannot. I got up to ask about our food and he said we were the next ticket. We had already been waiting for 45 mins . Asked if maybe we could get some bread He said oh sure no one brought you anything? about 15mins later someone brings out our food The person delivering our food placed my dish on the table and proceeded to drop part of my food in my lap. Then he laughed my food fell on the floor.He gives everyone else food on the table and proceeded to ask if we needed anything . My husband said how about replacing my wife's food that dropped on the floor . A couple of minutes later a woman, I think hostess or owner came over. Asked what we needed and I said the rest of my food and I need to go clean the sauce off my clothes. I went to the rest room and washed the sauce off. I was really annoyed ate half my food and waited for the check The bartender who waited on us first came over with the check. He said he was sorry for the wait. I said me too also the food in my lap He acted like he had no idea what I was talking about. Told us for the wait and because it was my birthday, he gave us one drink free! The last time I had food from here was a takeout order, and both of our meals were unsatisfactory. The bacalhau (cod fish) had an off taste that we had never experienced when ordering from anywhere else. And the steak had an up charge because of Covid, which I wouldn't have minded if there was actually meat left. By the time I finished trimming all the fat around the edges, there was a huge pile of fat on the side and the amount of edible steak remaining was smaller than a deck of cards. I gave this place two stars because we have always enjoyed the desserts. That's the only thing that has been consistently good from our experience. read more

Went on a busy weekend night. Were quickly seated by a very pleasant waitress. Ordered chouriço a bombeiro, one of my favorite appetizers and one I typically use to judge a new place. Unfortunately this test was failed. For those not familiar, this dish is served in a vessel somewhat like a grill, with an open flame. Either it was left over the open flame too long or was grilled for too much time initially as the skin was pretty scorched. The skin should be crisp, and the interior hot and juicy. This dish was neither as the sausage was bone dry and undercooked inside. My entree was a traditional Portuguese steak. It was cooked to my liking, but the attempt to sear the outside ended up just tasting like char. Unfortunate. read more

We went here for Mother's Day with a 5:30 reservation. We ordered our appetizers as soon as we sat down and did not get the food for an hour and 15 minutes. Our waitress never came back to ask what we wanted for an entree. Once it hit 7:30 and we hadn't even seen our waitress we left. And to top it all off the drinks sucked and I'm pretty sure there was no alcohol in them. The room was also freezing. Ok I just dont see what the hype was about. They were semi-busy but still no excuse for poor service. Waited for drinks and an hour for apps. By the time our entree came out we filled up on bread and water. Got an aweful cut of prime rib with 3 tiny shrimp on top. Most of it was fat. Very disappointed.
