Tomato soup and a arugula salad

Love coming here. Great for coworking. Friendly staff. Food is delicious. My favorite is the gluten free Belgium waffle and chicken Milanese sandwich. And they have fun events like $1 martinis Mondays!

Strawberry Fields matcha (16 oz.)

Cute coffee shop in East Austin. Very modern and minimalistic interior. Spacious and dog-friendly. Pricier drink menu but unique seasonal drinks. Tried this place based on a recommendation from a friend. Overall it was nice but nothing to drive out of the way for! I ordered their seasonal Strawberry Fields matcha. Total before tip was over $8, which is a bit steep (this was without alternative milks). It was pretty decent quality matcha, but the strawberry flavor was very subtle. It was good but I've had better, for less. QUICK FACTS: - Parking? Yes, there's a lot behind the building with pretty decent number of spots. - Seating? Yes, pretty spacious inside. Though not very big tables or anything. More like a casual drop in but don't stay all day type of place.

I've been here a few times before when it was another coffee shop, so I'm not sure if they are under new management or if it's a totally different coffee shop. Their drinks are just okay, and for $10... that's highway robbery. It's a really cute and bright space with a lot of seating and outlets, but the coffee is nothing special. The fronks vanilla latte is way too nutty without any of the vanilla flavoring.

Beautiful coffee shop with fun vegan tacos. Spacious and dog friendly, indoor and outdoor seating. Staff is kind. Interesting selection of drip coffee, great for groups, both small and large.

Had to opportunity to visit Pershing East since taking over and it was an absolute dream. From what looks like an open hangar from the outside, within rests a beautifully decorated coffee shop. The nook in the back is so damn cute and perfect if you're needing a reading spot. You'll find plenty of seating area including a community table towards the back perfect to mimic as a standing desk. From baked goods to a few key savory items, Pershing East has you covered if you arrive in need of a nibble. The coffee used here was really smooth, but my fave moment was their variety of in-house syrups. The team here is so sweet and very open to helping you select your choice coffee or drink. I was moved to try their gingerbread spiced iced latte with oat milk, holy crap was it smooth and enjoyable. So much so I had to order a second one. No need to worry about parking as they have their own parking lot!

Holiday hours 2024

Not quite the same as when it was Greater Goods but they have more food options now. Annoying that they don't update holiday hours online though. The automated messages on the phone re: hours are incorrect too.

kouign amann and cold brew

Bright space with a very chill and relaxing vibe. Ordered kouign amann, which was absolutely delicious. Would for sure recommend it as a great place for a coffee break.

I stumbled upon this quiet little gem that feels like a greenhouse. It's bright all white and airy and everything is spotless. I'm impressed with their range of lattes, especially the vegan options that are clearly highlighted. I also loved this cute, house-shaped mini library nook. I tried the pumpkin vegan latte and the vegan coffee cake, which was deliciously crumbly--definitely grab a plate for it. The staff were great, offering up their recommendations!

Outlet in seating

This location is spectacular for a WFH coffee shop that has ample parking, food and coffee for you to camp out for a few hours. There's outlets in the seats which is a game changer. I would add this to your rotation of coffee shops to work from if I were you :)

Their matcha is unparalleled here

Ownership of the space has indeed changed; however I can easily say that the quality of coffee is still entirely the same (still exclusively locally roasted by Greater Goods with baristas who are equal parts friendly and coffee-nerdy) and their new lunch sandwiches that their in-house chef makes are SO good (the Pinocchio is a stand out for me with it's slightly sweet pistachio butter and salty/savory flavors). I've heard tale that there's even the intent to start having a couple beers and wine in the near future so this might also have to become a later afternoon hang for me as well!

First visit to Pershing East since they replaced Greater Goods in this location! It is a great spot for a morning latte if you're in the area. I still get sticker shocked when I purchase a latte. All in all, I paid $7.71 for my 12oz vanilla latte with almond milk. I bet that's the current going rate for a 12 oz specialty coffee but an investment I can't do daily. It's delicious though. Service was quick and the space was open and beautiful. The hanging artworks (on sale) are a good touch to the ambiance too!

The Focaccia sandwich alone is worth the stop at Pershing East. Great place to work, sit outside or read.

It's actually a good place to eat any time of day! The beautifully decorated patio provided the perfect welcome into their modestly decorated air conditioned restaurant and bar. When I say bar, it's more like a 1950s bar that you can sit at and have a meal at. Although drinks and meals were offered any time of day! The waitress was pleasant and helpful in suggesting add ons with my meal. But being a purist, I wanted to try it as intended. The food arrived in the normal amount of time. When I first saw my mozzarella omelette I was a little surprised! It didn't look anything like what it was described as! Oh well! I thought. Let's give it a try! My taste buds were happily amazed! Could this omelette smothered in mushroom gravy, green "pesto" and bread crumbs be the best omelette I've ever had?! The mushroom tomato gravy was so smooth! Along with the cilantro avocado topping. That tasted more like pesto, gave it the perfect zing! I had wished I the had ordered some toast to dip in the sauce. I could have done without the bread crumbs. But they were easily swept to the side. The amount of mozzarella cheese in this omelette led me to believe it was more of an omelette lasagna than a plain old omelette. This place is definitely a must if you are visiting Austin!

Upon entry was greeted by Melissa and sat in her section. The decor is very diner type with low, cozy booths and few tables and chairs. Ample amount of food and def had take away box. Everything was tasty and the buttermilk pancake was amazing with just syrup. Melissa was kind enough to provide little cups to take syrup home along with the tael away container. They had a daily special and a board above the kitchen with other items. I drove by it for 20 years on the way to Avenue Barber Shop. I wanted shredded beef tacos but couldn't get them without cilantro so I chose shredded beef enchiladas (with an $8!) side of chips and salsa. My wife ordered scrambled eggs, bacon and home fries. She requested soft eggs, as she always does because too many places overcook them. The chips and salsa arrived. I was immediately disappointed. The menu said "we make our own chips." They were thick and yellow and appeared to be run-of-the-mill, out-of-a-bag chips. I prefer the thin white ones. I took one bite of salsa, and that was one bite too many. Cumin. I pushed it all aside. Cumin doesn't belong in salsa. (Sorry. I grew up in the Rio Grande Valley.) My enchiladas came with black beans, and there was cumin in them. Cumin is overused and abused in most restaurants. I couldn't eat them. The rice was good but the chipotle sauce on the enchiladas was not. I scraped most of the sauce off and ate one enchilada, mainly because I just needed something in my stomach. We were still 45 miles from home. I pushed my plate away. I also ordered coffee. One sip of that was all I could stand. Too weak for me. It gets worse, much worse. My wife's eggs were barely cooked. She asked the waiter for some cooked eggs. He took her plate and returned about four minutes later. The eggs were still not cooked. She tried another bite but couldn't eat them. Her bacon was tough as a boot and not chewable. The home fries were average, but by the time her plate arrived at our table for the second time, they were cold. I pulled my card out waiting for our excellent server to return. He asked how everything was (he had to notice two plates still covered with food) and we politely told him. I ate one enchilada and some rice. My wife had two bites of egg and two bites of potato. He apologized and handed me the check. $65. Nothing comped and nothing adjusted. A manager should've been summoned. How does a place like this have any customers? It was our first and last visit.

It's a small space, with only around eight tables and a tiny kitchen behind the counter. It's a bit hard to locate from outside. There's no big sign on the window indicating the restaurant's name, just a plastic A-frame sign outside the building's doors. When I got there, four of the eight tables were empty but the dirty dishes had not yet been cleared. It took close to 10 minutes for the tables to be bused. Because the kitchen is so small, I'd recommend going up to the counter to order as soon as you get there. I believe you can also place your order online using the QR code on the table, but I didn't try that method. I ordered the lox n found, a toasted croissant roll with smoked salmon, avocado, dill ricotta, arugula, onion, and capers. The menu says it also comes with a side of roasted potatoes, but mine didn't come with that. The sandwich was delicious and filling, so I definitely didn't need them, but I do feel like I didn't get what I paid for.
