I ate at the Pho yesterday, and I'm still annoyed about it. My gal pals and I were starving and in the area, so we stopped in. There were maybe two other groups in the restaurant? The straw I received had dried mildew on the wrapper. Odd but ok, I brought my own water bottle. When we opened the chopsticks, splinters. Alright, we'll use forks. We got crab rangoons, dumplings, pork egg rolls, and sesame chicken. The crab rangoons and dumplings were fine, but I wouldn't order them again. The server had asked if I wanted white or fried rice with the sesame chicken; I asked if I could sub lo mein. The server asked the chef if that was possible, and later confirmed that it was. The sesame chicken came out before the egg rolls. The lo mein was swimming in oil. The sesame chicken was $15 and there wasn't a lot of it. We asked about the egg rolls, and they came out a few minutes later. The filling almost had the consistency of stringy hash browns? It was hard to decipher what exactly we were eating. When we got to the cash register, I discovered that the lo mein was a $3 upcharge. That's fine, but the server did not mention it. I purchased the crab rangoons and sesame chicken (with lo mein) and spent $33.21 (with tip) on the most mediocre meal of my life. Austin has an incredible food scene, go anywhere else. read more

Generally pho isn't too hard to mess up, but the noodles were pretty hard and when soaking it in the broth, they were rubbery. Also, beware of the vegetables that come in the extra baggie. The jalapeños were old, the seeds inside were brown and one piece that I found was even moldy! See photo. I thought that if I didn't put the jalapeños in my soup, I should be fine, but the food left me feeling sick the evening after I ate it. Would recommend checking what you order. Got the bahn mi sandwich, chicken bao, and basil fried rice The bahn mi sandwich was better the first time and drier the second. They didn't put enough of the spread on the bread the second time and it made it dry. The chicken inside was also very dry. The chicken in the chicken bao wasn't very flavorful but the bao bun was good. The basil fried rice was good the first time I ordered it but second time it didn't come as basil fried rice at all and instead was regular fried rice, which I believe is cheaper on the menu than what I ordered and didn't receive. Pretty good and convenient location to ACC. I got the vermicelli noodles with pork and egg rolls. Pork had a good marinade to it while the egg roll was pretty solid. Unsure if it was because my order was to go, but the portions were smaller than I thought. So for the quantity of food I'm glad I got the shrimp spring rolls too. I would have definitely still been hungry if I did not. The shrimp spring rolls was pretty standard. What made it really good was their peanut sauce. Extremely excellent Vietnamese food, and I've only tried a fraction of what's on the menu. The bahn mi are ginormous and so good. The classic Vietnamese egg rolls are crispy fried deliciousness. I think of the tofu spring roll as a "salad" roll and love love love the peanut sauce on the side. They have a huge menu here and I haven't even tried the pho or pork chops yet!! This is a new restaurant and kinda tucked away so it could be hard to find if you're not looking out! There was a lunch special where you could get pho, a roll, and a drink for $10! The spring roll was good and fresh but the peanut butter dipping sauce could have been more thick. The pho broth wasn't that great and didn't seem to really infuse with the noodles. Also the Thai tea was too sweet for me - which you do have an option to ask for sweet or unsweet but my drink wasn't even an orange color anymore but rather white. Popped in after seeing the Grand Opening sign today - of which I figured had to be happening soon given the Fall Semester is about to begin across the street. I can't get enough pho in my life and sometimes will even make long drive to Houston or Dallas just to try out someplace new. How does The Pho measure up in a town with an already decent assortment of options in nearly every zipcode? Pretty damned well! The staff was very friendly, and the place was clean, bright, and open. I've commonly felt rushed to order at other cafes - which is the norm, but that wasn't the case here. Much like Phonatic, you order from the counter and then wait for your food to arrive with a number. Service is huge for me, and my former favorite pho restaurant went so far downhill with service that I had to stop going... The Pho is excellent when it comes to service. That said - what about the food? I ordered the Beef Rib Pho, which can be a challenge to locate at other establishments in town. My preference is egg noodle, so I switched it up just a little bit and ordered it this way. While the soup was fantastic, I only have two points where I thought things could be a tiny bit better. The soup was overkill hot... to the point of where just sliding the bowl was too hot to touch for the first ten minutes. Aside from that, there was a certain spark that was missing to the broth. I'm not sure if it needed just a touch more herbal notes... or if it just wasn't allowed to steep long enough, but it was *almost* there. TL;DR and final conclusion - The Pho is really good, and the location is going to become a spot for students and people like me who just can't go a week or two without a bowl of awesome. The service is great, and the spot is fresh. I love that we have a new authentic pho restaurant in town! I love the easy ordering style right at the counter. There are many customizable meat options for your pho without overcomplicating or compromising the experience of pho. The large orders are HUGE and even when you order the small, you get a generous portion of meat and noodles. Bun bo hue (spicy beef noodle) is also legit. The food is very undermining and not worth eating, edamame was over cooked, crabragoons were very bland, had fried rice with tofu and it tasted like fried rubber and the chicken was very dry. Eggdrop soup was almost flavourless and needs more seasoning. The 2 chicken pho we ordered very bland but somehow tasted different, almost like a little chicken stock was added with 2 cups of water. If anything the vegetables they gave us had the most flavour out of every meal. Lastly the music they play here has way too much bass, it almost feels like a club rather than a restaurant. My husband and I are on the search for some good pho. As we're new to Austin, we've been reading reviews online and stumbled upon this place. We ordered some beef pho for pick up and it took less than 15 minutes to get our order done (sooo much better than waiting over 45 min for delivery). The soup was still hot when we brought it back home and the soup was able to cook the raw beef when we poured the soup over. I love how they gave basil AND cilantro! (Huge plus and I feel like that should be a given.. but have stumbled across places that don't provide cilantro). The noodles and meat were delicious. The soup was not bad, but not as flavorful as I wouldve hoped. Not sure if I'm just looking for the extra oily-ness or if something is missing in the broth, but it didn't hit the spot. Lightly dressed with a slightly sweet dressing, pickled carrots, daikon, and onions and their house fish sauce on the side. It was refreshing. The vegetable pho was in a beef broth, so if you're vegan, just don't. If you're not vegan it was warm in flavor , lightly seasoned, full of veggies and noodles. We ordered the large and it's huge. Two people could easily share this. The beef pho had a deeper flavor. The meat was tender and it had lots of satisfying noodles. Perfect for the cold Night. The Bahn Mi was delish. The bread was fresh , toasted to perfection. The pork inside was tender and seasoned perfectly. I tried this place for take out. Great packaging, broth and noodles were separated so they wouldn't be super soggy. However, the noodles I got were a bit on the al dente side, but I figured warming up the broth and then letting the noodles sit for a bit would help, which it did. We ordered Chicken Fried Rice and a Bahn Mi. Two things that you'd think are hard to mess up. First, the rice. The chicken was absolutely flavorless and cooked extremely poorly. I've eaten here twice since they opened. I grew up on Vietnamese cuisine, and I've tried virtually every Vietnamese restaurant in Austin. I was so excited that a new Vietnamese restaurant opened within a 5 minute drive time to me since I usually have to drive north to 183 or chinatown to get pho. My expectations (admittedly high) were not met. However, I will likely keep giving this place a shot because I really want the convenience of amazing Vietnamese food near me. Critiques: 1. The pho broth leans on the flavorless side. I don't like to add hoisin, sriracha, and chili paste to my pho broth because I think it takes away from the flavor, but I resorted to adding all three sauces because there was very little taste. My noodles were also undercooked both times I went. 2. The bahn mi bread was not toasted. Not sure what happened here. Compliments: 1. They give you a solid quantity of meat in your pho dish 2. The restaurant space itself is clean, stocked, and pretty. There's a boba shop connected which gives them points All in all, it's not bad, but it's definitely not my first pick. I think this place is really trying to cater to their non-Vietnamese patrons. Bun Bo Hue was extremely bland. What spice? What flavor? Shrimp paste was missing too. My friend had literally doused her bowl with their Phu Quoc fish sauce to get some flavor but it had ended up tasting like fish sauce mostly. Their com tam thit suon nuong... where's the com tam? Oh it was mixed in with regular jasmine rice. BOTH plates had that issue. Bun Bo Xao Xa Ot was lacking a lot of lemongrass. It's like they had pinched some in there and fried it. My mi xao gion (crispy egg noodles combination) was decent. I would go back for that only. Could be better. They should really do a small focus group so people could judge their dishes properly without any bias. Would hate to see this go under. read more

Got the same thing I got before... was very sad to receive. The spring rolls were hard and very cold, not fresh at all. Shrimp in the spring rolls was flavorless and dry. Vermicelli bowl was haphazardly thrown together with missing ingredients... very small amount of shrimp (very simple and small amount of ingredient dish initially so it was really lacking) and my dumplings were fried and not steamed and couldn't be eaten because I can't have the oil.
