I absolutely love Posh Nosh on Forsyth! The deli is bright, airy, and welcoming -- and the friendly staff make it even more inviting. This was my second visit, and I ordered the chicken salad sandwich on white bread with lettuce and tomato. The chicken salad was full of flavor, and the bread and toppings were fresh and delicious. The sandwich was generous enough to share. I also treated myself to a slice of pecan oatmeal pie -- do *not* skip dessert! On my first visit, I tried the matzo ball soup. It was my first time having this soup -- the texture and flavor of the matzo balls were a nice complement to the incredibly flavorful broth. The carrot cake was so moist and flavorful. I'm so glad The Posh Nosh has reopened! I ordered the corned beef on toasted rye with provolone cheese and mustard, and I must say it was delicious--it definitely satisfied my craving! The ambiance was warm and inviting; I originally planned to order takeout but ended up dining in because it felt so welcoming. The staff was beyond amazing--so kind and friendly. I couldn't decide between the chocolate or carrot cake, and they surprised me by giving me one on the house. Such a sweet gesture! The only thing better than my sandwich is the staff! I ordered the Ruben and it was possibly the best Ruben I've had! So good that I had to let everyone know :) the bread was perfectly toasted & the sandwich overall was filling but light! So sad to see a good place go downhill. I used to love coming here to eat, especially the Claytonian sandwich. The coleslaw was always one of the best that I have ever had. The sandwiches here used to be so tall and fully stuffed, but now they are a third of the size that they used to be, and even more expensive than they were before . Very disappointing. I will add that they still have one of the best lobster bisque around, but the portion of a bowl is now that of a cup. Sandwiches still taste very good, it's just a size that is sorely disappointing. Inside out: The location is within walking distance of at least our hotel (The seven Gables) The building design and layout is lovely. There was comfortable seating with table space to enjoy our breakfast. Service: everyone was extremely friendly! Food: probably one of the best bagels I've had in my entire life, I got the salmon, capers, I think a little cream cheese, and some coffee. Honestly the bagel was so delicious its a must if I go back to St. Louis. It was also incredibly filling, given that we had an extremely long day of travel ahead of us kept me going most the day. After reading the reviews here I am glad to see I'm not the only one that thinks things have gone downhill at the Posh Nosh. For over a decade the Posh Nosh has been my favorite restaurant for corn beef and Reuben sandwiches. On November 13, 2024 I ordered 2 Reubens to go, and shared the same observations as others. There was less meat, and what meat there was on the sandwich was fatty. For me, one of the hallmarks of a truly great Reuben at the Posh Nosh was the quality of the corn beef. This sandwich costs over $14, and I foolishly bought 2 of them. Also, the mini-barrels of pickles have been removed. They didn't even include the single slice of pickle that was always there in a carry-out order. Add to this that parking is very difficult to find around this block and to pay for. Now instead of regular meters, you have to download an app to pay for parking. I won't be returning, and this saddens me, because it was always a special treat to get a Reuben at the Posh Nosh. Those days are long gone. I can make a better Reuben at home than the ones we ate last night. read more

Order was a plain bagel with a fried egg and slice of cheese (requested no meat which normally comes on it), a plain bagel with just turkey and no other toppings, and a small bag of chips. Order was $25 and I left a $4 tip. The price seemed high but I assumed I must have ordered a really stellar sandwich, or at least a lot of food, which we absolutely did not. Sandwiches were mediocre at best. Looked at the menu later and realized I was overcharged - since there were zero other customers in line or in the restaurant at all there is no excuse for the staff not noticing the excess charge. The Posh Nosh, on my first go around I used a coupon and thought boy, if I had to pay full prices for the sandwiches with the amount of meat they give, I don't think I would eat here much. Well turns out they send you coupons on the regular and always have a deal, so you got to eat there now for the fresh wholesome sandwiches they serve. You just may have to get two! Honestly, I am a greedy guy, who always looks for taste, and value in my meals. They have the taste in the sandwiches and with a coupon they have value. I can say nothing wrong about the customer service here, they are good people, good staff all the way around. The appearance of the food is nice, I see it and it makes me want more...the longer I am in there, the more I want to eat, perhaps if I could get a bigger sandwich :) I guess, I am used to other sandwich shops pilling on a bit more meat than they do here, but like I said with a coupon, it seems to be a decent enough deal, besides I shouldn't eat so much. The taste of the food was very good, they know what they are doing, I plan to go back and try more sandwiches. It has been awhile since I was there, but I believe I had the club sandwich, and it was delicious. You are not going to get full unless you add something with it...well I take that back if you are a big eater like me you want get full without adding more items to your sandwich, like dessert and chips. What a great Reuben! It wasn't piled high Dagwood style, thank goodness, because I like to eat my sandwich without trying to figure out how to actually put it in my mouth. We have been going to Posh Nosh for 30+ years. Always enjoyed their food. Until today. Sandwiches have less meat and the pastrami was fatty. Menu is limited and of course prices have increased. Spent $31.00 for a very disappointing meal. read more

After eating at a new spot down the street, I eyeballed this place and had to come back. It's a little local spot and had never heard of it, definitely a hole in the wall - but it's worth the stop. They have a full menu with every type of sandwich you could want (including corned beef which is hard to find!). Their roast beef is to die for, I'll probably have to start buying my lunch meat from here (which is an option!). They have really great side options as well (try the Italian slaw, it's awesome). It's a small little space, but it doesn't seem to get too crowded, so sit down and enjoy your meal. Great spot for a quick, delicious lunch from a cute little local deli. read more

I visited The Posh Nosh on a slow Saturday at noon. Because it was a slow time for the day, I didn't have any issues with crowding, cleanliness of tables, etc. When I walked in, a nice man greeted me, gave me time to peruse the menu, and answered any questions I had. I ordered the tuna melt on white bread, the lobster bisque soup, and a prickly pear San Pellegrino. Keep in mind that sandwich orders do not come with a side, so you must order them separately. I didn't have to wait long until my order was ready to go. I had a carry-out order, so I didn't enjoy my meal until about 10 minutes later. I recommend that if you order a tuna melt or a similar sandwich, you should try to enjoy it at the place, as the bread won't be as crisp later on. When I received my order to go, I remember thinking how small my order seemed given the original price (~$15). Food wise, my first impression of the tuna melt was that the tuna salad was good, although it was good in an average sort of way. But still good nonetheless. It came with a nice fat pickle, which is a plus. The lobster bisque was extremely flavorful and creamy. I was definitely satisfied with my meal, although I will say that the original price without a Groupon ($15 original vs. $9 w/ Groupon) would have been quite a bit steep for the value. But I'd definitely be willing to pay around $10 for that same meal out of pocket. They'd maybe be better off creating combo options that save a couple bucks for people, I would think. The sides are pretty expensive on their own (over $4 for a small cup of soup), so maybe if people could have a combo, they could get a sandwich at regular price (say around $8) and a side for $2 less than the al a carte price... which would total around $10 for sandwich and side. I think that'd be pretty reasonable, and customers across the board would generally be more satisfied. But then again, if they are getting more than enough business from Clayton workers during weekday lunch hours, then why would they ever do that? If enough people are willing to pay the higher amount, no need to cater to the masses. But, perhaps they should try offering combo pricing deals during "happy hour" times when there isn't a rush and the business is very slow. More of the general population of folks may be more willing to visit the place regularly then, and they'd probably make more money overall as a result. read more

I could forgive the reduced amount of meat on the sandwiches coupled with the shocking price hikes (which I just confirmed have not been reflected on the online menu). My main issue however, is that the new owner would not accept a gift card because it was issued under previous ownership (ownership changed 2 months ago). There was no expiration date or notice on the card that it may not be accepted, but they still refused to accept it. The manager was polite enough but ultimately unhelpful. I guess according to the owner, either she or her predecessor got my money for nothing, and now I'm just stuck with a useless gift card! Staff there just charge customers whatever they want on, because they know people wouldn't look at receipt carefully. I got a sandwich there, but the tax is 30%. $3 tax for a $10 dollars sandwich..... When I raised my question to the staff, asking if there is a mistake. The staff became very mean, she asked me if I ordered anything else. When I told her I just ordered a sandwich, then she told me that tax is high everywhere.... It was a Groupon offer that managed to bring me back to TPN after a six year absence, for this visit we went with The Posher and the Bonhomme. The Posher was is an open face turkey sandwich with bacon and served on cracked wheat smothered in cheese sauce while the Bonhomme is hot smoked turkey, roast beef, provel cheese and garlic butter served on a Kaiser roll. While the sandwiches were good, they were not anything more than something I could easily prepare at home myself at half the price and just as quick. Service here is slow because everything is made to order, I can see how it can get really busy during the work week! The inside really does have some charm as the walls are decorated with writings from past guest and pictures from over the years. Seating inside can be tight as there is limited room, thankfully there is a small cozy patio located outside which is perfect for al fresco dining. Service is good, and the staff is friendly however I do feel that the prices are high for the portion size and quality of the food. Overall The Posh Nosh is a decent deli that has been serving up sandwiches to Clayton residents and workers for 50 years. Now that I've had more items on the menu, I am long overdue to increase the stars. For a NY style deli in St Louis and all my visits and co-diner's feedback, I'm moving from 3 to 5 stars. Step 1 Parking: If you haven't been here before, know that there is parking around back for this whole shopping plaza. Spaces are numbered, but don't let that discourage you. You can park here. Step 2 Ordering: They can get a little busy, know what you want before you step up. The menu is extensive. The guy that took our order was friendly and enthusiastic. Then grab a sample of the sweet bread (or whatever they have that day if anything) near the register. Step 3 Table: There are a number of tables in this narrow shotgun style location. Claim something quick if they're busy. Step 4 Pickles: Then get up and grab a little bowl of cut-up pickles for your table. I'm not sure if they make the pickles here or buy them, but they are tasty and crisp. So good! Step 5 Pick-Up & Pay: They call your order, you pick it up and pay. Grab a card to get stamped. Every 6th stamp earns a free sandwich. I probably had the best French Dip I've ever had (see picture). Soft roll filled with juicy sliced beef topped with Provel which I don't prefer on pizza, but it was pretty good melted across my sandwich and a big cup of au jus for dipping. That's it. Nothing fancy - just a damn good sandwich. This with a med drink filled me up for about $13.50. Yup, it's higher priced but still tasty. The crowd that shows up returns for a reason. My friends had the Claytonian and the Reuben with chili and liked everything they had as well. read more
