What an awesome experience! We are from North Carolina and had breakfast on July 6, 2013 where we enjoyed the Potatoes, Pancakes, French toast and an omelet. The waitress, Dani knew the menu very well and helped quite a bit with the descriptions of every dish served! Her eagerness to please everyone at the table with food, Mimosas, Bloody Mary's, sweet demeanor, even some tourist information! What a package this place has to offer! Came here on a Sunday with my boyfriend to have mimosas. I thought that they would have bottomless ones but they only offered a mega mimosa. :( whatever. Anyways, I was feeling an omelets so I ordered a veggie with bacon. The server who served us outside was really nice so he gets the stars. But when we got our omelets out it seemed I had ham with only chives, tomatoes, and lots of jack cheese. Where were all the veggies? Anyways the bill was rushed halfway through me eating my omelet. There were several people in our party. I had 4/5 service and (2/5) food, I got omelete with extra crispy hashbrowns. The thick cut hashbrowns were my favorite. I got the egg white chicken fajita omelet and it was okay, and nicely seasoned...however it was loaded with chicken and basically every chicken piece was tough fat (aka gross and uneatable). Also, I thought the coffee was pretty weak-flavor wise. Moving on The 2 others I was with had ALL their food brought out cold (total of 3 plates). My brother told the server and the server was nice and acknowledged that that's not okay and offered to heat it up. My brother declined and just ate it because he was so hungry. i wouldn't want my food just reheated and im guessing that's why he declined. Plus he was starving. My food came out hot so i didn't have problem with that.. BUT when 2 out of 3 people have cold food/disappointed it kind of is a downer. I'm guessing their food was probably left out at server pickup station for awhile. I recommend going elsewhere read more

How can you improve on the awesome, original Potholder of Long Beach?? Duplicate the amazing, generous "best hang over breakfast" menu in a larger, comfy, convienient location!! Tried The Potholder, Too on it's second day of business, and was not dissapointed! Great location! Great "old school" cafe' atmosphere, Great service, and convienient parking! The food was fantastic (love the veggie scramble!) and the bus boy and waitress kept the coffee flowing! Way to go, Potholder, Too! Genius idea....just in time for the Grand Prix! read more

This place has AMAZING breakfast items! My faves are their crispy bacon, "super spuds" (potatoes, avocado, cheese, onion, sour cream...how can you go wrong??) and their waffles (reminded me of a "healthy" churro!). I hear the omelettes are great too but I haven't tried them...yet :) Coffee is standard and the service was great - I'm looking forward to coming back! read more

I visited for breakfast with a group of friends on Sunday 4/14. As in the past, the burgers, omelets and special potatoes were great. I love this place for breakfast. I don't eat meat and they have a ton of vegetarian options and a couple vegan options too. The staff has always been awesome towards us. Miranda could be the most ballerest customer service agent waitress that ever called long beach home. The food is on par with the service. If you have a dog, they supply the water dish for your breakfast companion. You would have to be mental not to roll up to the potholder. read more

Ate here for the first time after having been to the Potholder in Lakewood. My experience here was better. The food was prepared to order and was very tasty. The service was as expected. Our server was attentive without being intrusive. The only issue was waiting for a table when the restaurant was half-empty. Will definitely go back. read more

My husband and I were in Long Beach for a meeting and wanted a quick breakfast before our return home. I remembered eating at the original Potholder many years ago and recalled the delicious omelettes they use to make. We picked this restaurant based on the other Yelp reviews and it was relatively close to our hotel. We loved it so much we came back again the next day. I can honestly say there was not a single negative thing I could say about this place. The menu is extensive so there is something for everyone no matter what you might be in the mood for. The coffee was hot and strong and the fresh squeezed orange juice was delicious. The service was fantastic, between the friendly waitress to the support staff who never stops doing rounds with coffee and ice water, we never waited more than about 15 seconds for anything we needed. The food was delivered quickly and steaming hot and even more tasty than expected. The portion sizes are large so you will want to share or be prepared to take the rest home if you aren't starving. The crunchy French toast and blueberry pancakes were fabulous. The huge avocado slices on the omelette was a nice addition. The only thing I might change would be to add cheese inside the omelette instead of on top so the abundance of filling inside stayed together and didn't flop out all over the plate and the front of my shirt when trying to take a bite from the fork. We will definitely come back the next time we stay in the area. FYI the parking lot is small and shared with the church next door so on Sunday morning it is a bit tough to find a spot to park close, but it's worth it read more

Wow, never knew this place existed. Found it on the Yelp app while walking around DTLB looking for a place to eat. Pleasantly surprised! I'll definitely be coming back. If you're looking for a good breakfast/lunch place, I highly recommend The Potholder Cafe Too. I chose the chilaquiles with potatoes and was blown away. I was so excited to find a place that has, what seems like, homemade gluten free waffles. The rest of their menu is fantastic as well...there are so many omelette and scramble choices, its hard to forgo those to order those delicious waffles. We experienced great service and great food. Came in for the third time today. Ordered an American grilled cheese on sourdough and fries. Got into my book. Food came. Ate fries first, good as usual. For curly fries, they are surprisingly light and non-greasy. Started eating my sandwich as I read my book and realized almost halfway through that there was some kind of shredded cheese on my sandwich instead of the American I had ordered. Waitress seemed confused at first when I brought it to her attention but eventually asked if I wanted it remade, which of course I did. Came out right and delicious. Apparently the put shredded jack and cheddar on the sandwiches normally but I gotta say it just doesn't taste as good. They don't even put enough shredded cheese for it to be that gooey delicious experience you get with slices. Hope they see and consider this change. Otherwise, I like this place, like that I can bring my dog after the park, and they even put out a water bowl. Had a pancake in the past and it was good, as well. All and all a good breakfast place. I feel so sad because I really wanted to love this place but I absolutely did not! I always pass by and there is always a line but never tried until my girlfriend was like " let's go to breakfast" it a little place on the corner by where I use to live"! I'm like ok! I'm down to try anything new /once.... The she pulled up to the place and I was like cool! I've always wanted to try! Surprisingly there was no wait... I guess we made it right before the rush... When seated, there were flies sworming and it look a little grimmy... I was so indecisive I just got what was on the undecided part if the menu... All in all, how could you fuck up a simple scramble eggs with cheese and onions... Undercooked eggs and onions when I told her I wanted it well... Waffle was cold and nasty ( tasteless) like cardboard! The to top it off... My turkey bacon which I subbed for the reg bacon had to be sent back twice because they either don't know how to cook turkey bacon or they sent me out some old ass bacon that been sitting out for days.... And to top that off... The two broke down pieces of bacon was a $1 up charge... Our waitress was wack... Orange juice was horrible! Just an over all bad experience! I will not be recommending nor will I be coming back! I really wanted to love this place! :( read more

This is a fairly standard diner although with an inordinate amount of omelettes / breakfast items versus lunch items but that's kind of their thing apparently. My friends always want to come here for lunch because they say they have cute servers there. Last/first time I had the "Tim's Dug Out" which was super spuds with a well cooked /flavorful steak medallions on top, with a good egg omelette, and stuffed french toast on the side which was decent. I was very happy with this interesting combination and overall a good deal. This most recent time I had a standard club sandwich and it was pretty much as expected and no complaints whatsoever. Sometimes you got to give it up if you just have your expectations met. I'm going to ding them a little bit because nothing superlative, and also if you're open for lunch you should buff up the lunch menu a bit, but overall it's worthy to be put in the rotation. read more

I came here with 2 of my friends before heading over to One Love Raggae Fest here in Long Beach. We looked up a few places to visit and thought we'd give this one a try. The service was amazing the waitress we had, Scarlett was super hospitable and so nice! The food tasted soooo good! OM this place is as good as the reviews said... I'm glad I took the drive from SFS to here... I had the chicken fried steak...it was good but the gravy was great... I asked for my potatoes to be crispy and they were crispy on the outside and cooked inside... Dennis was our server... Friendly and came back over and over... Coffee cup never emptied...
