I like this place. I've been here a couple of times over the years and have liked the meals I have gotten. Service is a little on the slow side, but knowing that, I plan for it. I had the Grimsters Diablo and my wife had Crab Soup in the bread bowl. Buyer beware!!! The Diablo is hot, but oh is it good. She never said anything about the soup, mainly because she would take the time to talk bewteen bites :) The Lavender Blueberry Cheesecake was simply too good to leave even a crumb behind. Service was simply amazing, we were in on Saturday, the 22nd of December so the place was packed, yet we never felt left alone or waiting for anything. They really do care about their customers. I had pointed out to our server, Cassandra, that the Diablo was floating in a lot of water but still tasted great. I declined to have it redone as my only point of mentioning it was to pass a note to the kitchen to drain the past a little better, not that it was bad. She still had the manager stop by, who also asked if I'd let her remake it. After declining again, because it really did taste fine, she found a way to 'fix' it anyway by discounting my entree on the final check. We walked into the crowded bar with a big group and didn't know if they had enough room for us. But we got a few seats at the bar and as the seats and tables around us cleared we just took over. The bartenders were attentive and took care of us. They were a tad rushy but kept the bar clean and kept our tabs straight. They have a decent selection on tap but I stuck to wine. We selected songs on the jute box and hung out until it sunk in we had to get up early the next morning :-) I love the little Fall display they had outside. Located on the square in Gettysburg this pub is really a popular spot for not only bikers, but the tourists as well. The Gettysburg Hotel is across the street from the pub. If the smells wafting from the Pub's kitchen isn't enough to lure you in then maybe enjoying coffee and dessert while sitting at the outside tables will pull you in. "People watching" and "biker scoping is at a premium here on the square! It's better than going to the movies ~ trust me! We love the burgers and home made potato chips ~ YUM! I changed it up today and ordered the Portabella Sub with beef a 'jour. Amazing! Even though the a 'jour is under the cheese, I requested more on the side. So glad I did ;) Delicious. read more

We had a very nice lunch here today. The restaurant overlooks the circle in downtown Gettysburg. The interior is pleasant, with several booths as well as a number of tables--all covered with tablecloths. Our waitress, Melanie, was efficient as well as delightfully personable. We started by sharing a bowl of French onion soup. It was very flavorful. For my main course, I had the Cobb salad. It was fine, though not spectacular. Bar staff makes crappy watery drinks and passes it off as alcohol. After complaining and reordering - staff bought check without asking as if to rush us away after the complaint. I have eaten at this location on three separate occasions within the last twelve years. The progression of this establishment is downward. This recent visit killed any future visit. We won't forget this. Interior: Dirty. It feels old and in need of an upgrade. The glassware felt cheap and either Gettysburg water is poor or the glass imparted a poor taste. The chicken was nothing more than the frozen package chicken you buy in the frozen section of the grocery store. The ligh Cobb vinaigrette dressing was more oil than anything else. The blue cheese on the salad was cheap as you could get and made the salad almost inedible. The chicken and dressing completed that. It was beyond horrible as I struggled to eat vegetables that were untouched by the cheese. The chicken was just horrible and begged to be avoided. Marsala Chicken - $14.00. Talk about an inedible meal. The chicken was overcooked, thus tough. The sauce was mostly blanded except for the horrible hint of taste that makes you want to vomit. The other member of the party couldn't eat it and I made the mistake of trying it. Good Lord!! Who made this atrocity? To describe the sauce, I would say it reminds me of having corn syrup in it. It was enough to ruin one's appetite for chicken marsala, forever. The mashed potatoes were okay. BBQ Burger - $11.50. How can you screw up a burger? Make it as cheap as possible, that is how. Had to hunt for Monterey Jack Cheese. The beef tasted like the cheapest you could find and the bun felt and tasted cheap. The bbq sauce wasn't bad. Overall, we couldn't wait to vacate this place. It was horrible and a waste of money. We should have gone to the local pizza shop where I could have gotten a grilled chicken salad for less and better tasting. McDonald's has better burgers. This place is a huge disappointment for those desiring a good meal. Apparently, this place caters to tourists with the knowledge that they may never return to Gettysburg or forget their miserable experience after a few years. This now makes two places I will avoid like the plague. If the Blue & Gray Bar & Grill hadn't been full, I would not have suffered. By the way, they have better burgers. My girlfriend's medium burger was completely grey all the way through, and it also arrived just barely perceptibly warm. I super liked The Pub & Restaurant....restaurant. They do have a big menu which sometimes can be worrisome... Everything on the menu really did look good. It was lunch so I happened to just get their soup and salad combo. I ended up getting the cream of crab soup and YESSSS! I probably could have done without the bread bowl though... next time might just ask for a regular bowl. I was eyeing another table that got fries with their sandwich and that's totally on my list of things to try for next time. My family drove over an hour to The Pub on Lincoln Square to celebrate a birthday. By the time my husband had to send his order back to the kitchen for a second time he told the server to forget the order. It showed back up to the table anyway but it still wasn't as ordered. A second request was made to take the plate off the bill, especially since the rest of the family was finished eating. The plate was removed by the server but brought back a few minutes later with an announcement that a manager would have to "take the plate off the table." The manager showed up about 10 minutes later and was not at all concerned about our dissatisfaction. She was over the top rude and said there was nobody over her and that she wasn't rude, all while insisting that we got what we ordered! What?Never, ever have I encountered such incredible unprofessional and contemptuous behavior from a manager. It was shocking and we had to demand she take the item off the bill. I would give this 0 stars if possible. I grew up in Gettysburg, come back to see family often. With the small selection of restaurants in town we sometimes decide on the pub for the sake of variety. Out of the few dozen times I've been to the Pub, only one or two have been meet with decent service. Especially in the Bar area the staff is consistently rude and unprofessional. Our most recent visit to the Pub, while having a drink at the bar waiting for a table (during off hours, not busy) the male bartender Greg waited on a few select patrons, even after asking for his attention which he acknowledged in the least polite way possible - Greg continued to walk past us without looking at anyone in my party. The bartender Greg continued to service others, while delivering a single food item to one of the high tops across the from bar, he knocked my wife's purse off her chair and muttered "sorry" while continuing on his way. No eye contact, didn't stop to pick up the bag, no sign of any human decency. Not a single word. It's a shame this establishment has been in town for decades at a prime location. The food is generally good but service is consistently obnoxious- regardless of how many new employees are churned through. Needless to say (or perhaps beneficial for owners to hear) we did not eat at the Pub for this meal due to Greg. read more

Have worked in the area for a long time and come to The Pub on occasion. Their hours are just really strange now. We have a new coworker who wanted to try it so we went in for lunch this week The once extensive menu is many pages but mostly ads now. No more cole slaw as a side. $3.50 for an unsweet tea. $14 chicken wrap with no cajun seasoning as stated and a $2.50 upcharge for fries, which I did ask about before ordering. I just did not want the included chips, which seems to be a thing at most local restaurants here now. So my bill was $21 and change. They used to have the best chef salad but it seems like every time we like something, it disappears from the menu. The Rachel sandwich is gone too. I am assuming they shortened their menu due to food cost and supply chain issues, but I am having a hard time justifying the $25 with tip I paid for that just ok meal. I visited for lunch they were very unclean and have very poor customer service. Before our food arrived they dropped it on the floor right in front of us. They then picked it up with their hands and put it back on the plate and tried to serve it to us. Stopping by for dinner, my wife and I found the service to be very good. Not only did our server serve us but other people were quite attentive. The food, I started out with a spinach feta soup with that was good. Then I had the build your own pasta. I had chicken parm with alfredo and my wife had the brisket sandwich. This was the first place my father and I ate at when we started our trip, and wow! The food suprised us both, it was so delicious! We are from Buffalo, so when I saw they had Buffalo chicken fingers, I had to give them a try. Normally, any place outside of Buffalo never gets it right, so I was skeptical of this place and expected it to not be good. Boy, was I wrong! The good: excellent onion rings, meaty and well breaded. Good flavored sesame wings. Homemade chips were perfectly cooked. Quick, friendly service at the bar. Prices about right for the portion size, even for a touristy place. The bad: I ordered the hot seafood wrap (shrimp, crab, scallops). The idea was right (think big lumps of meat, well worth the price), but the execution was off. The crab meat was NOT FRESH and made the whole dish stink like expired seafood. It tasted okay but the smell was quite a turn off. But I'm used to eating both good and not-so-good crabs, and it wasn't so bad as to be inedible. The meat also retained a lot of the steaming liquid, so it dripped too much juice and made my hands stink also. Overall, I might go back, but I'd steer clear of anything seafood. And crust was much like the cardboard pizza from elementary school cafes. For a near $20 pizza, I expect at least something close to (or really better than) Dominos Pizza. But it was just bad. Clumps of cold unmelted cheese. I also had a salad, which came with some of their pretzel knots, which were hard and flavorless. We came here by default after the other two pubs in the area (both with higher Yelp reviews) had long waits. One pub with a four 1/2 star rating had an hour and a half wait! There weren't too many other places to go So yes, there seems to be a dearth of dining destinations in Gettysburg! So The Pub it was, which is conveniently located in the town square (which is actually a circle!) The Pub is actually a quaint looking place. It is actually much more inviting than the Blue and Grey Pub across the square, which looks like a bare room with people and tv's shoved inside There was about a two minute wait and we were seated promptly. The Pub has a huge menu with apps, salads, pizzas, burgers, and mains. We could not resist starting with some Pretzel Twists: garlic and butter pretzels served piping hot with homemade marinara sauce. I did not love the sauce but the pretzels were on par with the best soft pretzels I have had from a cart in NYC! Our server was nice enough to bring us tastes of the Crab Chowder. It was not cream based and had plenty of crab but it was a little spicy for my taste that night. Instead, three of us went with French Onion Soup, which was flavorful without being too salty. For mains we stuck with sandwiches and salads. Husband ordered Grimster's Beef: Pulled beef brisket, onions, and Monterey Jack Cheese on a baguette. Tasty, but messy. 11 year old had the "Tri-me": Grilled turkey, ham, provolone, lettuce, & tomato on pretzel bread. Simple but satisfying. I ordered the Reuben Salad (basically a Rueben in a bowl): Corned beef, Swiss cheese, lettuce & tomato, homemade rye croutons, and Rueben slaw (which I had on the side). Interesting twist to a salad but I was so full from the soup that just picked at it. 12 year old also did not eat much of his burger, although it was probably not the restaurant's fault. Service was a little jumbled. We had to ask for place setting go and drink refills. Blah. This place is so dark. And not like, sexy dark. Like depression dark. The whole interior is covered in a thick layer of navy paint and old patterned tablecloths. More sad than the restaurant is the story behind it, which was composed by the owner and printed as a full page of the menu. It was a 6 paragraph tale of the owner's divorce and custody battles....OMG why in the world would I wish to know this? The saga also includes references to how incredibly successful this owner is, with over a hundred employees and millions of dollars in revenue. A little more humility would go a long way with me. We had just dessert this time with the special of the day Reese's Peanut Butter Cheesecake and the Peanut Butter three layer cake. The portion sizes are so large that two desserts are so large it stuffed four adults and two kids. In addition to the desserts, we ordered a scoop of ice cream for each of the kids because we did not know if they liked them. Just like last night, our servers brought out our drinks promptly while our premade food to forvever. This was confusing this time as the food did not need to be cooked, only scooped and sliced. We wandered into this inviting building on the square and immediately loved the atmosphere. There was a wait for a table in the dining room. We gave the host an ID in exchange for one of the buzzers while we had a drink (see note below). We rather quickly ended up with two spots right at the bar so we just ate there. Our bartender seemed pretty much in the weeds which means the service wasn't great but I'd guess that's not the norm. We had the onion soup and chili con carne. Ample portions and both were excellent. Highly highly recommend the onion soup though! If you like heavy beans in your chili then do that for sure. It's really meaty as well.
