Staff are so friendly, professional, and attentive. Classic American diner feel and food. Exactly what you'd want and expect. Good quality, no funny foodie things. Just straight up American Diner done well. But they also have Greek food!

My friend and I walked over from Grand Central for lunch. It was super close and easy to get to. Lots of menu options and service was quick, which I appreciated. We both ordered omelets and enjoyed them, but the potatoes fell flat and didn't have much flavor. Overall a convenient spot for a quick bite.

Have been visiting Red Flame for well over 30 years and they remain my go to diner in the area. The diner is clean, inviting and comfortable. The staff is super efficient, NY-speedy and very friendly. It's like they've seen it all so nothing bothers them. The food is always consistently good and coffee replenished without hesitation. Kudos!

To be honest, I ate at this restaurant because it was only half a block away from where I was staying on 44th St. and 6th Avenue. Because of that, I wound up eating dinner and breakfast there. To quote Lew H.'s review from May 2005, "The Red Flame is okay, nothing more, nothing less. The food is okay, the service is okay, the interior is okay." Everything was a solid three stars -- not bad, but nothing stands out. On the plus side, they have a tremendous variety of food -- something that is typical at many New York diners. However, nothing stands out as memorable. Also, I felt the price was very high for mid-level quality ($70.68 for dinner). For dinner, we ordered a hamburger and fries, a roast beef sandwich, a wrap. For breakfast we had eggs, toast, corn beef hash, and potatoes; a strawberry granola crunch; and a bagel with cream cheese and lox. Again, nothing memorable, but more expensive than I would have guessed ($65.92 for breakfast). Service was good, probably a four star rating, but value was a two star rating.

Who doesn't love an old-school coffee shop/diner breakfast?!? I met up with a friend at the Red Flame in Midtown Manhattan. It was one of go-to places when I worked in the Calendar Building, across from the main library and Bryant Park. She had the waffle; I had the Florentine omelette. The service is great and they keep the coffee flowing! They

Old school diner vibe, lots of choices on the menu for a good hardy breakfast. Service was quick and efficient, and we got in and out pretty quickly to get on our are way. We shared the pancakes as they're big and plenty for the two of us with coffee and tea. Good find when you need a decent breakfast.

If you want a quick delicious meal before going to see a Broadway show, this is a nice place to visit. Away from the hustle of Times Square but only two blocks away, this place offers your run of the mill diner fare, from burgers to salads and breakfast dishes. Came here after s show at Town Hall and was greeted by lovely lady who sat us down right away. Though the kitchen closes in 45 mins, the food came out hot and delicious. One caveat though, the prices can be very steep. Had their Red Flame wrap with onion rings and a Coke and it came to almost $26 Yes if you go to your neighborhood diner, that amount may include a dessert as well. It is located around the theater district and you pay for the location. Overall I enjoyed dining at this place with friendly waitstaff, the service is quick and yes the food is good. Can you find someplace better? Yes! But if you want to seat down to get away from the chaos of Times Square, sit yourself down in a comfy booth and enjoy a tasty meal.

What a great experience. We are traveling with a family from Spain who wanted an American "diner" experience. This fit the bill! Everything was absolutely delicious. The baked goods, pies, cakes, puddings, cookies, muffins, you name it, were all perfect! The fries, burgers and salads were perfect. They had beer and wine. The experience will leave our friends wanting to come back. I honestly think we found the perfect spot for comfort and healthy options. The staff was very welcoming and attentive. A five star diner atmosphere and adventure! Thank you!!

The Red Flame Diner serves great breakfasts, are super-fast and clean. It can also be an expensive breakfast. Don't be surprised at breakfast for 2 at $48 (French toast and 1 egg with bacon) and then the taxes and mandatory tip take you to $60. So look at the specials and be careful or ordering a la carte. Nice having a coat rack to use as some of the booths are small.

This place is a throwback to old diners, but without the funky 50's music-- which I'm grateful for. The decor the old style upholstery and even a colander clock! Super clean tables, floors everything. Now for the food. The turkey was from the real bird, not deli processed. Soups were tasty and fruit was fresh and tasty. Prices were reasonable for nyc. Could have used a bit more salt, but that's more personal preference. Service and speed were great too.

Traditional diner, for sure. Prices and portions are right. We needed quick food, and we weren't disappointed. Service was quick, and the restaurant was pretty quiet.

FOOD: I didn't try any "food", though I will say they had a pretty large menu. From breakfast delights to dinner, they seemed to offer a little bit of everything. I did order cheesecake and a hot chocolate, and my Judez ordered hot chocolate and key lime. My cheesecake was delicious btw... as long as the cocoa. SERVICE: Fast. Accurate. Polite. Nothing more, nothing less. AMBIANCE: If you're from NYC, then it's just a typical diner. This one is off 42nd and 6th I think. So, midtown, Times Square (just not IN Times Square, which is obviously a good thing). If you're not from NYC, just imagine what you'd think a diner in the city is like; it's like that. I really liked it. Cheesecake was good and hot cocoa was too. Close enough to Times Square and Broadway without being RIGHT on it. Neat little diner. Fast service. Decent prices (actually on the cheap side as far as other places in the city go, which is a good thing). Good food. Big menu. Open late.

Pancakes, waffles were your average diner food, it was good! Hashbrowns were weird, it was like a boiled potato sliced up and then browned, was not expecting that, it was a little strange.

Even at that hour, there was already an hour and 45-minute wait for a table of two--clearly, this place is doing something right! We put our name down, ran a few errands, and returned just in time to be seated on their lovely patio. The outdoor setting was pleasant and added to the overall experience. We ordered their famous honey butter pancakes, Korean wings, and the breakfast sandwich with hash brown, scrambled eggs, and sausage. The honey butter pancakes were rich and flavorful--definitely a decadent treat. The Korean wings had a great flavor profile, though the batter was on the thicker side. The absolute star of the meal was the breakfast sandwich. The eggs were perfectly cooked with a hint of cheese, and even as someone who usually skips cheese, I found it added a nice creaminess without being overwhelming. While the wait was long, it's a testament to how popular this spot has become. The concept of blending Asian flavors with classic diner fare is ambitious and unique. If you enjoy hearty, satisfying comfort food with a creative twist, *GOLDEN DINER* is absolutely worth checking out. I'm glad I finally experienced it!

It was our first time eating at a Friedman's location. It had a nice diner feel to it, with a mix of booths and tables. The brunch menu has a variety of breakfast items, salads, sandwiches and burgers, starters, and entrees (fish tacos, grain bowl, fried chicken). I like that several of the items are naturally gluten free, and some can be made gluten free by request. We decided to go with three breakfast items from the brunch menu: I got the shakshuka, my sister got the Nova Benny, and we got the lemon ricotta pancakes to share. All 3 dishes were great. The shashuka came with grilled ciabatta, perfect for dipping into the sunny side eggs and tomato sauce. My sister loved that the poached eggs and smoked salmon of the Nova Benny came on top of a crispy potato latke. The pancakes were fluffy and the lemon ricotta and lemon zest elevated their flavor. Our server was friendly and attentive, and he asked us if we had any allergies when he took our order. He came by several times to check on us and refill water. Fast forward to 2026 (where I'm finally not broke as hell), the day has finally come, and I am ecstatic about stepping foot into this diner that surprisingly is still standing in 2026. The inside certainly feels like a diner, but not quite the old-school dinginess that I'm used to--it's clean. Given that it was Sunday at noon, it was very crowded in there and mainly flooded with tourist groups, but a table opened up for us pretty quickly. For a NYC diner, the menu is certainly small - this is probably done to keep tables moving faster. I got the Pastrami Hash & Eggs and it was just overdone and super oily and dry--almost as if they just refried everything except the sunnyside egg. Not gonna lie, I was very disappointed, given that I had waited for so long to come here, only to get food that was an attempt to give the staleness another chance by refrying and reheating. I actually beat myself up a little the rest of the day for finishing the whole thing, knowing that the oversaltiness was flirting with opening up some high blood pressure. It was also not moderately priced by any means (was close to $30), but I know I'm helping pay for that Midtown and proximity to Central Park pricing. Not sure if I'll return, which saddens me, but also knowing that they're part of a conglomerate at Fireman Group (and still run independently in a sense) makes total sense
