I'm a huge fan of The Sandwich Spot and while this one isn't my normal go to location, it is the closest to my job and so I door dashed me some lunch. I was a little worried because my order can be a little extra because of adding all the sauces and veggies but I was pleasantly surprised everything I added on was accounted for. I typically get their Italian version of a sandwich and the one thing I hate is each location calls their sandwiches something different making ordering online more time consuming because you have to read each description versus just searching for the name. Service can be a little slow also, it took 30 minutes for them to make my online order. And just to note, I did not order at a typical lunch time, otherwise I could have understood the long wait time but I ordered on a Saturday at 3pm. Overall, I'll always hit up a Sandwich Spot over a Togos or Subway when I get hankering for a sandwich even though it's more expensive, the quality is just much better. read more

Sorry I wanted to love this veggie sandwich on Dutch crunch more. But the bread was so sweet. Too sweet for a sandwich bread. And I incorrectly thought it would come with avocado and it didn't. When you are ordering, you have to order whatever toppings you want - which is like duh! But I used to get this sandwich all the time in the before times and I thought it always came with avocado. Anyway, the good news is that they are very generous with cheese - 3 slices. And they have good leaf lettuce, not the shredded crap you get at some delis. And the sandwich is huge. Me, my sister, and her gf walked in and we were immediately greeted by the two friendly employees at the front. The first employee was the one who made our sandwiches, they had some cute little piercings and a great attitude. Our sandwiches were absolutely made with care, they put their whole badussy into making our food. The second employee was this nice little redhead gal who gave Disney princess vibes. Shared parking lot. Clean interior with little indoor and outdoor seating. Fairly busy around the lunch hour on a weekday. None of the staff wear masks. Service was okay, though a little inconsistent. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time; one staff was working cashier, and two others focused on preparing the food. The staff included plenty of napkins in my to-go bag, but my colleague who ordered before me didn't get any. I had the Babe with Dutch bread. Flavor-wise, it was fine. The cream cheese and cranberry sauce were spilling out of the sides, which isn't the most appetizing. The Dutch bread is really good - the top was nice and crunchy. The sandwiches, whether you get hot or cold, will be difficult to eat because (1) there's so much filling that you won't be able to taste everything in one bite, and (2) the wetness from the filling makes the bottom bun soggy. They cut the sandwich into two pieces, but not the wrapping paper, so you'll probably end up holding the sandwich directly with your hands. Best of luck to y'all without making a mess or filling slipping out of the sandwich. After tax, $12-13 for a signature sandwich alone. When they ask you if you would like chips and a drink, it's not part of a combo - everything is charged separately. My colleague bought chips and a drink, which were $2-3 each. read more

The Sandwich Spot isn't my all-time favorite sandwich location, but they do have enough selection and creativity in their sammies to keep me coming back a couple times a year. It's also a fairly local chain, which I prefer to some that are so huge they really lose any sense of personality or quality control. The real benefit here is all the options. Every location has a different selection of sandwiches and location-specific specials. I'm a sucker for hot and spicy. I usually go with the Pitcher's Mound (Marinated Chicken, Hot Sauce, Bomb Sauce, Sriracha & Pepper Jack Cheese), but this location has a special called the Basket Catch (Meatballs, pepper jack cheese, bacon, hot sauce, sriracha, onions, peppers) that is really tasty. I was on my way to Mister Pickle's when I noticed this new sandwich spot in the same plaza. I figured I'd give this place a try considering I have heard good reviews about it from my co-workers. I'm absolutely in love with Mister Pickles garlic sauce and was stoked to hear that their sandwiches includes a special "secret" garlic paste! I ordered a hot turkey sandwich that was pretty good at first bite. The garlic paste was actually a disappointment - it didn't have that strong and flavorful taste compared to Mister Pickles. The sandwich itself was just straight meat and bread with VERY little produce. The service here sucked. My hubby was asking about their specialty sandwiches along with what their "Sac-State special" is and the lady was very annoyed and not helpful at all. We had a hard time picking a table to sit at because their were crumbs on every table! It was definitely a poor first experience I'd say - but hey everyone deserves a second chance right? I heard so many good things about The Sandwich Spot that I decided to drop in last week for lunch. It was about 1:00 on a weekday so I expected it to be busy, but there was only one other person in front of me and three people working so no wait! I ordered a Veggie Sandwich (#10 I think) with cheese, avocado, lettuce, cucumber, olives, and garlic "Secret Sauce" spread on a wheat roll. All employees were friendly and helpful and in a few minutes I was on my way! I thought the sandwich was average, the wheat roll was nice and fresh and chewy, and the garlic spread added some extra flavor, but other than that, nothing really stood out about the sandwich. My main complaint? My Veggie Sandwich was $7.05. Now if I am going to pay $7+ for a veggie sandwich with no meat I better have a ton of toppings like at least half an avocado... but not here. The "avocado" I received was a small swipe of avocado spread which I couldn't taste at any point in the meal. In comparison to other sandwich places, I would rate The Sandwich Spot above Subway but below Mr.Pickles/Beach Hut in terms of taste and value. I can go to Corti Bros down the street (or any other sandwich place) and get a veggie sandwich for $5.00 or less that that blows this place out of the water. I'm glad I tried The Sandwich Spot, and maybe they have good meat sandwiches, but for veggies I can find better sandwiches for my money elsewhere. read more

For a second I thought maybe they just changed the names of all the old Mr. Pickles sammies to their own. I was expecting something along the lines of a certain creativity, but nope.No special vegan sandwich, no delicious pesto chicken. Just your typical sandwich. Whatever, order a sandwich and shut up right?!? That's what I did. I got the pitchers mound (#8) and asked for my bomb sauce to be spicy. My mom ordered whatever baseball name for the Reuben sandwich and asked for the bomb sauce as well as the Reuben sauce to be on the side. The one upside to this location is the employees were all very nice and upbeat. The guy making the sandwiches was more then happy to put the sauces on the side and made polite conversation with us while we waited. We got rung up by what I assume was the owner. This assumption is based on the fact she was the only crew not wearing the baseball shirt. We said we wanted to make one sandwich a combo and one just a sandwich. This seemed to confuse her. But we got rung up and sent out the door without a frequent customer card. Maybe she was trying to hint at something? Anyways, got home and ate the sandwich. The bomb sauce tasted like ranch mixed with crystal hot sauce. Whatever.. Came for the first time and it was delicious! I wanted in on the hype & I'm so glad I tried it. Forget subway & mr. Pickles, the sandwich spot is the place to go now. We arrived about 15 minutes before closing & there were no customers in there. Just three employees. The boyfriend knew one so he just talked to him the whole time.
