Major dive bar. I have a soft spot for dive bars, I like their chill atmosphere and the fun locals but this place can be downright skeevy. Diviest of dives. As in- "I'm sorry I even made eye contact with this creep next to me, definitely not going to the bathroom alone". sammy the manager always seem to be drunk or on her phone.I don't know if she knows what customer service really means since she put her feelings ahead of the owners expense. She denied me service because she told me I was rude for questioning why she was asking my girlfriends ID 'multiple times' i understand asking for an ID but asking her over and over again?. My assumption was she was extremely to drunk to read anyones ID. Why on earth would you even give someone A drink if you cant even read their Id the first time thats a fine waiting to happen. Cool pirate decor, this place is your typical dive bar, small, smokey and where the locals hang out. The drinks were very reasonably priced, they have pool tables and a dance floor (room in this situation). Actually had a DJ and the music was pretty decent. Good place to grab a drink, and move on to next place. read more

Boyfriend and I went tonight to check it out. A very interesting decor that's obviously pirate themed. Our bartender was awesome and had a great personality. For the only tender of the bar, he kept everyone happy with his quick actions and great personality. Highly recommend! read more

My wife Jessica and I love dive bars. Being from western ny we frequent a lot of them..when visiting Clearwater beach, IT IS A MUST TO STOP BY THIS PLACE. Great atmosphere, the bar tender Jeff is a refreshing escape from the fake barmaids we've encountered on Clearwater beach near our resort-he made us laugh several times...and can't beat $1.75 drafts of bud light...the local crowd there reminds me of the hard scrabble people I hang out with up north. Female bartenders r very macho and dont attend to guests as in others bars in area noisy smokey place but has its goods

Stopped in yesterday afternoon as our first stop on the beach as this place is at the very North end of commercial stuff then we were working our way South. Lisa behind the bar was awesome! Get the 4 for 3 on the pink drinks if you want to save a little as drinks were mainstream pricing which caught us a little by surprise however it is Clearwater Beach so not too surprising, you are after all on one of america's hottest beach locations - The Shipwreck IS a dive bar, it WILL be dark and it WILL smell of smoke - it's a DIVE bar folks, quit bashing it in reviews for being what it's meant to be, we are non smokers and had great time, there was also free banana bread as it was national banana bread day. Will definately be back to check it out at night, if the smoke bothers you and you still want to experience a great little dive bar, make it your last stop - enjoy !!! read more

Cool little dive bar with a piratey theme, with pirate mannequins and such. Drinks were pretty cheap, and it was filled with who I guessed to be locals. I don't think they serve food here. The drinks were well priced and beer was cold. read more

This bar was the best place to go if you just want to drink and hang out with friends. My husband and I got married in January on Clearwater Beach this year. We rented a house right around the corner from this bar and could walk there. Every night our family went there to drink and had a blast. The bartender Shannon was amazing. She makes a drink called the Shananzee that tastes so good. Definitely a must drink when you go there. Also, Tuesday nights are sink or swim night, all you can drink draft beer for $12. This is were the locals go to drink, not ever busy but always a lot of fun. We will be back everytime we visit. read more

The Shipwreck might be the locals dive bar but its by far, the CLEANEST bar I've ever been in! They have the friendliest staff and make a person feel like they belong! Great drinks and ice cold beer, 10 TVs, juke box, 2 pool tables (FREE most days), golf & bowling games and a big dance floor with a great DJ playing all of the hits plus anything else that you'd like to hear! Several restaurants deliver food, if you don't want to loose your stool.... Very cozy, comfortable and nautical atmosphere with extremely fun and friendly local people that frequent this place daily.... prices are very reasonable, too :) If your visiting, this is one place you don't want to pass up. Its set away from the tourist traps, its on north Clearwater beach, just ask anyone.... Everyone knows where the Shipwreck is!!!!! Its the very oldest bar on the beach :) read more

I think the Shipwreck is A-OK,and I am a big fan!. When my friend and I walked in, I sent him a text message that said "one and done', alluding to the fact that this place was so beat that we were going to head out after one yuengling and call it a night, but in the course of that one beer, we fell in love the place and ended up staying for several buckets. If you have ever seen the movie "Summer Rental", this place will seem familiar to you. The bartender was an English bloke who seemed like he had been in a couple soccer houligan fights, and he went out of his way to make sure you were taken care of. great place, great dive. my advice is to start out here, and then head out to the bars or clubs, and the finish at the shipwreck! read more

Yep - it's a "Dive" bar - but if it were all new or any different - it wouldn't be the Shipwreck! Some what of a locals bar - but some tourists do find their way. It is what it is.... Not somewhere you would take a date to "impress her" Yet, here you will find a good bar staff - Especially Angie - fair drink prices for really good / strong drinks. Beer served in a Mason Jar. Nautical motif a few pirates etc... I have to say it is no longer super dusty - as they did a real super clean of all the bric a brac - nick a nacks. They also replaced the carpet with a wood laminate - which is MUCH better for dancing and got rid of that old smokey musty smell. They now have a DJ and a back patio which is nice to escape the smoke. No food - which is why this remains as one of the last bars your allowed to smoke inside. Does get a bit much on busy nights... even with smoke eaters. Sometimes I think people are smoking more then just cigarettes, but over all fun little place. read more

3 of us came here 2 nights in a row on Tuesday and Wednesday March 5th & 6th. We met one of your newest bartenders, tall blonde- shame I can't think of her name because she remembered ours the second we walked in. She was bubbly and friendly and really made our visit enjoyable! I mentioned I was in the mood for some chips and she came right over with some snacks which I thought was awesome. She really went out of her way to make everyone comfortable and to have a good time. My friends and I are all in the service industry so we can recognize and appreciate great service. It's a shame we left because of the sour attitude of your DJ. He was playing some kind of techno music and our bartender mentioned he will take requests. I approached him and asked if maybe he could play some 80s or 90s.. he scoffed at me and with a smirk on his face and an eye roll said I would have to be "a little more specific." Does your job as a DJ not involve knowing songs in different genres? I was so taken aback by his attitude we left. Shame because we really loved the atmosphere and the bartender! read more

Wow! What a great little bar. If your a smoker, it's heaven..been a long time since I could have a cocktail and smoke at the same time in an establishment so that was a fun surprise. Definitely a locals hang out, we met some really great people..but Jeff the bartender is by far the best reason to go here..what a fun guy! He made the night so much fun. We love this bar. Two years in a row we see the Phillies game and then head to the Shipwreck Bar. The day time bar tender was great, she was very nice and friendly to us.
