Located in the Paso Robles Inn. Went for dinner and was seated inside next to the window. Dirty martini was just right! Hubby and I both ordered the ribeye steak, medium rare. There wasn't too long of a wait and the steaks came out perfect. Seasoned just right with the bordelaise sauce on the side. I chose green beans and asparagus as my sides and they were cooked with that right amount of crunchy. The ribeye was a hefty portion so I ended taking half of it back to our room. What a disappointment. I had an 8:30 reservation for 2. When I made the reservation it said that the restaurant was open until 10pm so I assumed we had ample time to dine. There's a lot here . First We asked for a sample of a wine which we did not care for, but the waitress kept the dirty glasses on the table and poured my friends new wine into the dirty glass of the wine she rejected ???? What ? Who does that? ,After ordering our appetizers the waitress came to the table at exactly 9 and said the kitchen closes at 9, do you want entrees ? Well we weren't ready so just said no:( whatever. We ordered grilled artichoke that had no meat and the sauces were flavored mayonnaise, I was REALLY looking forward to the peach salad- other than the peaches it was soggy and tasted like vinegar. I also couldn't find one decent glass of wine on the menu- the wine list is awful. Then to top it all off the waitress never cleared away a single plate even after dropping off the check and picking up payment. What a total bummer. You'd think a highly rated place called "The Steakhouse" would have good steaks that were well prepared. Instead, we had a poor quality rib eye and filet. On top of that, the filet was requested medium but what was received was charred on the outside and barely rare on the inside. The steak was returned twice and only came back more charred but no further cooked inside. On the fourth return the chef butterflied the filet to solve the cooking problem. By then, all our sides were cold and, because I was waiting for my wife's steak to be cooked before eating, my steak was cold as well. Add to that an overcooked, oily artichoke appetizer. The organic Grilled Salmon with capers dish was nothing short of perfection. It was grilled, juicy, with a hint of fishiness that you expect from a salmon. The topping of capers added the perfect amount of salty seasoning that made me anticipate my next bite(no joke). It was all piled on top of delicious rice pilaf. One of the worst meals of my life. I order sirloin and was served leather boot. My Father-in-law ordered filet and was served NY strip. 40 mins to get a diet coke and a glass of wine for two members of our party, and a solid hour for the food to arrive. The sourdough bread is beyond sour. I'm not a fan to begin with. but this was ridiculous. Everything overcooked, zero flavor, and although a pasta dish in a steak restaurant might not be the number one call, there's just no excuse for how bad it was for one of our party. One active waitress for the entire floor of about 30 guests, but plenty of people dressed as wait staff standing around doing pretty much nothing. This place needs a complete overhaul, new chef, new supplier, new staff and meals served that actually reflect what is shown on the menu. read more

Last night (10-2-20, stayed in room 306) made reservations at 7:45pm and got there a little early and they were kind enough to sit us down. Looking through the menu and watch the servers just walk right by us as if we weren't there. We watched a party of six sat behind us and had there order taken before us (8:05pm) , the waiter was kind and smiled and walk right by us. Waited and still nothing, watched a couple be seated indoors and watched a server poor them wine. If you are hungry and are driving by The Steakhouse at the Paso Robles inn. Please continue driving. There aren't enough to words to explain how bad everything was. Our appetizer was a halibut ceviche, to be honest i think it was canned, it had a bad fishy odor, it was dry, grainy, and chewy. They are called a steakhouse but only had 2-3 choices of steak, however they only were currently serving one option. A top sirloin that was mediocre at best. It was served bland and at a cooler temp. While we asked for the wine menu they said it was a verbal menu for now as they were sorting through wines which was strange. If your menu is printed due to covid to make it disposable, print a basic wine list on the back with a few option as the sorting continues. I asked for a Cabernet Sauvignon, and they had their house Cab. Don't get that. Seriously don't. We took a few sips and didn't finish it at all our glasses were full upon leaving the restaurant. It was sweet and sour as if I was drinking syrup. Lastly their dessert. A molten chocolate lava cake which came in literally 2 min after we ordered. Pretty sure it's microwaved. Very sugary as opposed to a rich chocolate taste. Unless things change I won't be back. Please go somewhere else. read more

We were looking for a nice place to have dinner so I checked yelp and this place had some good reviews so we gave it a shot. What a disappointment..... My husband ordered the rib dinner and he was told they were sold out of ribs and artichokes. He then ordered the Tri-tip sandwich and I got the filet mignon. He didn't have any complaints about the sandwich. But when they brought out my steak it was cold, over cooked and the vegetables looked like they had been sitting out for a while. Have really enjoyed the stay at the hotel but I'd stay away from the restaurant. We ate two meals at the restaurant, one breakfast, one dinner. The staff was courteous though. The hostess, disaffected hostess told her that she was letting your waiter catch up therefore wouldn't allow us to take a seat. We sat and waited for nearly 15 minutes. And we asked again can we get a table she said let me check and didn't come back for another five. We are left sitting in the lobby no offer of water no offer of anything. Just it's going to be another 5 minutes. Literally the restaurants half empty and it's late and there's no line. It was the most ridiculous worst customer service experience I've ever had that's supposedly a fine dining establishment. We ordered LEMON PESTO PENNE PASTA with broccolini, roasted tomatoes, basel and feta cheese..WOW. Our appetizer was CRISPY BRUSSELS SPROUTS, smoked goat cheese fondue and apple cider vinegar reduction. Where to start...? First, we had made a reservation at 8 pm which the hostess/host could not find. This being a minor issue seeing as how they were still able to seat us. After we were seated is where our experience really went to to complete shit. Our waitress introduced her self then proceeded to make it a point to ignore us it seemed. When she finally came back to simply take our drink order, we asked for 2 shots of Jameson. She told us the don't carry "shots" and only had bourbon. This clearly being strange as cocktails require more than just bourbon. We then asked for 2 beers which she then told us they also didn't have. As in this steakhouse did not carry any beer at all... it was at this point the waitress's smug attitude really got placed in the spotlight. I'm really unsure what her distaste for us was stemming from, but considering there was a protest going on outside, maybe that had her on edge. Whatever the case may have been really doesn't excuse the miserable service this woman, in her 50's gave us. Me and my husband were simply trying to make the best out of our honeymoon considering COVID drastically changed our plans and this woman put in an incredible effort to get us out of the restaurant. Paso Robles has been an absolute delight.... except for this place. This place is something I wish to forget considering we had to randomly walk and find another place to have our final night's dinner. But it worked out in the end when we came across Les Petites Canailles. The food and service was like night and day compared to this miserable establishment. We are here during the classic car show that was happening on the main drag. Items we ordered: Grilled cheese and fries Calamari Ribs Ribeye Steak Chicken Several items just fell flat and were not worth the $s. The Calamari was just horrible and inedible. Chewy/tough....pieces clumped together into one large ball. Hey fry guy.....if it's clumped together like that going in...it comes out the same way. Re-do it! Ribs were pretty spicey but flavorful. Not enough BBQ sauce and it seemed like it was an afterthought. Also the Cole slaw side was not made right....even though the waiter tried to claim it was. Tasted like someone dropped a bottle of vinegar in the bowl as he was mixing...along with scoopful of ghost peppers. The restaurant didn't even attempt to make things right on the two items that were mentioned to them. Sorry excuse! Lastly. The ribeye while flavorful came out on the cold side. This restaurant could really use some customer satisfaction recovery assistance and appetizer / entree cook timing. Can't recommend and won't be back! read more

Made reservations for dinner Friday night because we were celebrating our 27th anniversary and we were so disappointed. We had reservations at 8 pm and waited about 17 minutes to be seated but we didn't mind. Once we got seated, we were greeted and order drinks with appetizer. We then ordered our dinner and then we were forgotten. We watch as everyone around us was checked up on and given water and bread. We asked one of the waiters about getting some of the bread and were told that they were waiting for the bread to come out of the oven. Then we watched as 2 tables that had just arrived were served bread. WOW. At that point we just wanted to leave so we told the waitress to cancel our dinner and we were leaving. Potatoes were still a little hard. Service could have been better. Our server was minimally attentive and hard to find to pay our bill. Ambiance was nice but surprised to see our meal come out on dinner plates more suited for a cafe diner and food presentation left much to be desired. Should not be the case at these prices. Went for the Sunday brunch. I feel like for it being 37$ a person it was good for the price only because it included unlimited mimosas, crab legs, and prime rib. However, the prime rib and crab legs both lacked flavor. The crab legs were kept in a basket of ice though I do wish they were kept hot as the butter is kept hot but just hmrastes like hot oil. I had to add lemon and salt. The buffet also included eggs benadict, sausage, bacon, French toast , omelet station, pastries, yogurt parfait, fruit, chocolate covered strawberries, shrimp cocktail, smoked salmon, mini bagels with cream cheese. I just wish there were a couple other things like traditional buiscuits and gravy or cinnamon rolls. But I still feel like the value was there and I will be back. I'll start with the service: friendly and very attentive. Our host was very sweet and our waitress, Brittney, was excellent. We also appreciate the "no cork fee" on our wine (second bottle is $15). We had the Caesar Salad and Grilled Peach Salad and both were wonderful. The steak was closer to three stars, but the service and salads earned the fourth star! They closed the kitchen at 9p on a Thursday night, which makes sense given how quiet the town was already. Came in tonight in a large group with my family for a birthday party. Nothing went horribly wrong, but the entire experience--both culinary and otherwise--was underwhelming. Bottom line, if you are not coming in for a steak (and let's be real, even if that's the case) you should definitely select one of the many wonderful dinner options available in downtown Paso instead of the Paso Robles Inn Steakhouse. We had the GRILLED ARTICHOKES and CRABCAKES to start. The appetizers were tasty and satisfactory. For my main, I got the KALE CEASAR SALAD with the shrimp add-on option; this was a terrible salad. First, it was mostly cheese. Second, it contained only a relatively small amount of cheap iceberg lettuce, no kale. Third, they kitchen bestowed a meager four shrimps on this salad for a $7 upcharge. This was an $18 salad I could have gotten at Denny's. A member of our party was also unsatisfied with the quality of her fish entree. I found the service to be brusque and inattentive. The only saving grace were the desserts--namely the lemon cake and bananas foster. Save your money, go elsewhere. read more

I'm from Paso Robles and I've never been here so I thought we should finally give it a try. It's a beautiful place so I walked in with high hopes. We ordered drinks mine was the worst drink I've ever had. I couldn't even drink it. Our waitress was so off putting. My future mother in law got a medium well steak, that steak was one of the most rare steaks I've ever seen. They burnt the top and bottom and barely cooked the inside. My fiancé makes better steaks at home. I ordered a side salad which the waitress brought after we were done eating asking if I still wanted it. So for the cost of what they charge it was not even close to worth it. I would spend your money elsewhere. Which I hate to even say because I love to support local places. read more

We had 6 people and we all ordered different entrees, no apps or desserts. The steaks were all good exactly to temp both a filet and NY. I had the crispy chicken and it was super moist and the corn relish was sooooo good. One in our party had the lemon pasta and said it was ok. Overall, though, a great dinner. read more
