Was searching on Yelp for places for dinner and this place popped up first on our list. We arrived as a party of 2 and were seated immediately. We ask for waters and the robot on wheels (?) arrived with our waters and place settings. The menu is pretty expansive with lots of options. We ordered the seafood pancake, jap chae, and this dumpling soup. Everything was delicious! Service was excellent. Waters were kept filled and the food was quite good. I often find it difficult to find good Asian food in Arizona (I was visiting from California) but this place was definitely a gem. I will say that prices were pretty high. After tax and tip our meal came out to about $70 for the two of us. But it was a nice treat! We didn't order any Korean bbq but they had the setup available! One of my go to places when I'm craving Korean food. I love getting their cold noodles during the hot summer days! But I won't leave without getting some of their BBQ items. Their Kalbi is to die for and not to mention their Spicy Pork Bulgogi is my favorite!! I've been here several times and I have noticed that their ban chan (side dishes) have gotten a lot better! A legit Korean restaurant in the east East Valley?! Now I don't have to go all the way to Dobson Rd for Korean food :D The dishes are a bit pricey, but they are tasty and the portions are "American" size. The kimchi pancake (3A kimchi pajun) was large enough to be a meal itself. Don't put too much red sauce on the bibimbap like I did, a little goes a long way. The beef bulgogi (2Q) was probably one of the best I've ever had! Don't be alarmed when R2-D2 brings your food. Even droids have bills to pay! I wanted to give this place 5 stars, but their tables are so uncomfortable to sit at, I was not able to fully enjoy the experience. We will eat the food again because it was super tasty and huge portions, but we'll order it to go. I like the idea of cooking at your own table, but the tabletops do not extend out far enough away from the base so your legs are forced to turn to one side or the other to get close enough to the table to eat. We took our grandsons tonight for a special treat with the experiencing of cooking over a hibachi. But none of the the overhead vents are working and it was a coughing and choking experience. I went here for our first experience with Korean q because of the photos of lovely white cushioned chairs but those tables remained empty for some reason and we sat in uncomfortable hard chairs squished at an uncomfortable table . The young man who served us was extremely polite but was up against a lot of kitchen issues. The Korean beer was literally room temperature and and I had to ask for a plastic glass of ice to use to try to cool the bottle like you would champagne. Because of the lack of vents he changed out our grill several times which was nice. But the smoke was just ridiculous. The meat was okay but much of it chewy and gristly. It wasn't the fun relaxed evening I had anticipated - so please do call ahead to ask if the vents are working - if they aren't, it is truly one of the most uncomfortable situations you'll ever have when eating out - especially if the meat is spicy. Our eyes were watering and we were all coughing - instead of being able to enjoy our meal - we really did try to make the best of it for our grandkids but what a major major disappointment. read more

The service is sketchy here and at times made us uncomfortable in terms of how the ba staff and wait staff interacted with one another. The wait staff was sampling food from the kitchen in front of us, which I found in poor form. The bar staff seemed surely towards each other and us at Tim's. They were yummy.. Pancake was nice and crispy outside with shrimp, squid, and some other fish I forgot the name. Ordered seafood soondooboo soup which was pretty tasty. Delicious food today. Had their mul naengmyun and galbi combo (summer special). They had to ask if it was still going on even though they had it advertised in the front. Son had the kimchi jjigae. Everything looked good and it took everything I had to NOT get the AYCE but didn't think it would be a good thing for my son before his soccer game. The mul naengmyun was delicious. I think most US places probably use a pre made soup as opposed to making it themselves but it was delicious. Hit the spot after sitting on the turf at legacy park for a soccer game. The galbi was super tender and well seasoned. I was really impressed by the tofu in kimchi jjigae. They make the tofu themselves so anything with tofu will probably be really good. I think I would prefer this over the soondubu because it had firm tofu instead of soft tofu but that's just my preference. I was a little put off because the server accidentally gave our order of galbi to another table and the boss lady came out and took it away. It had already been sitting on their table for probably 10 minutes. It's an honest mistake and surprised they took it back to the kitchen. Also I want to address the topic of their dishes being pricey. Yes the prices are on the higher side but we don't mind as the quality and flavor makes up for the extra dollars. The dishes are family sized portioned so if you are dining with friends, I suggest that each of you pick out a dish so you can share multiple dishes then split the bill. That way you can try different stuff and ease the sticker shock. It's all tasty and if you've never had Korean food I suggest asking the Ahjooma (older lady) server that's there all the time. My partner and I come here a lot for the "regular menu". We love the Galbi Tang Soup and the Pork Belly. The regular menu is a bit pricey but the food is very flavorful. Some days are better than others. I have been a couple of times where the portion was less than usual and the pork belly was too burnt. Most of the time it is worth it! Today was our first time trying the AYCE. We didn't think that it would be as good as it was. The older Korean lady working there is awesome! She really love her job and the food there. I will say that this is now my favorite AYCE KBBQ place. Why? The quality of the meat is no joke and is very worth it for the price. Other places in Arizona will charge the same or more but the quality of the meat is worst. Here they give you a huge piece of steak and even Galbi with the bones. Nice that Gilbert has an option of Korean dining but the prices were a bit steep for the quality and service. Personally would return for the harder to find speciality dishes but otherwise, I'll head to Tempe for more tasty affordable eats. Plenty of parking and space indoors. Our orders were taken quickly and the food came out 15 minutes later via robot. Afterwards, no one came to check on us until they were nearly closed. Glasses were empty and we sat around for 30 minutes after the meal was completed. =ORDERED= Banchan consisted of spicy cucumber, white radish, spicy radish salad, braised potatoes, kimchi and fish cakes. The spiced side dishes packed some serious heat. Braised potatoes were my favorite as they were sweet, salty and starchy. *Bibim Naeng Myun: cold thin noodles coated in a tangy red sauce, topped with slices of pear, beef and hard boiled egg. The sauce could have been spicier and deeper in gochujang flavor. Beef was incredibly dry. Enjoyed the crisp pear which would have tasted even better if the dish was more savory. Noodles had a pleasant, chewy mouthfeel. *Galbi Dolsot Bibimbap: shockingly $20 for this hot stone specialty. For the price, I wished there was more bulgogi. While there was a beautiful medley of vegetables, I found the banchan to be more impressive in flavor. The bowl was relatively bland and the only notable quality was the variable texture. *Galbi Tang: the best dish of the night in terms of quantity and flavor. Milky, richly beefy broth that was perfect for winter. Had plenty of tender short rib and could be shared amongst two people. If I were to return, this would be the dish to get. Although this location is convenient for me, I wished there was better execution and pricing to make Korean cuisine more accessible to the Gilbert community. I had seen the reviews of this restaurant and was excited to finally be able to try it! My husband and I went around 7pm on a Friday evening. We were seated relatively quickly after waiting a couple minutes at the hostess stand. I believe there were only 2 servers. They have those little robot helpers to deliver the drinks and food. They're fun for the novelty! We started with the Tteok-bokki which are these little chewy cylindrical rice cakes. If you've never had them before, give them a try! The texture is so fun and the sauce they were in was spicy and flavorful! The prices are on the higher side, but the portion sizes are certainly worth it!! For our entrees, we got the Galbi Dosot Bibimbap and the Pork Bulgogi. The pork wasn't super spicy, it had a nice flavor and was really tasty! But I will say that the sauce was quite oily. The Bibimbap was good! We were disappointed in the amount of Galbi though. The red sauce our server brought out to mix into the Bibimbap was delicious! My husband and I had plenty of leftovers! It looks like they will be adding a sushi bar in the back "coming soon" The only negative I would say besides the price is that since there were only 2 servers, it took a little while longer to place our orders and get the food. I'm not sure if this is the same company as the Stone House on Dobson, but our experience in this location was alright. The robot waiter was a cool experience, but the food was just lacking in flavor compared to the other location on Dobson. The soup I ordered was supposed to be spicy, but it was mild and lacked any seafood. We also ordered bulgogi but the flavor wasn't very authentic. Overall it was pretty okay. My brother and I go for lunch, or dinner every month. We try new to us, interesting places. That's how we chose this place. Arrived at noon, not very busy. Chose the AYCE meal and seated at a table with an induction heating grill. Ordered unsweetened tea, which was delivered by robot. After tasting, found tea to be highly sweetened. Settled for water. Ordered first 3 meats, off the terrific selections on the extensive menu. Robot brought us ban chon, and sauces. Some of our sides were fried rice, steamed rice, cheese corn (delicious) , Mandoo, which are Gyoza, were perfectly crunchy and delicious. My brother likes spicy and garlicky, me not so much, so he ordered a couple of other items which he enjoyed. So, grilled up the sliced beef, marinated short ribs and ribeye, to our desired doneness. Enjoyed every bite! Nice Korean lady took our order for second round of 3 meats, grill, repeat, devour. Took our time, enjoyed the cooking interaction and enjoyed the very flavorful variety of dishes. We were not rushed, were offered more selections several times, very generous! Be advised, the middle of the table is a sizzling hot grill, cooking meat with a little oil. You will be exposed to the heat and oil. It's well worth it, this was a unique and excellent meal. We drove an hr, one-way, from North Phoenix and it was worth the drive. I grew up eating Korean food and this place definitely tastes like your omma's food...chock full of love. Officially their name is The Stone House, but they haven't changed their signage from the previous owner, so it still says The Stone Tofu Korean House. It was a titch confusing so hopefully they'll update that very soon. I highly recommend the seafood pancake. It was Huuuuuuge! fluffy, but perfectly cooked. It had a slight taste to it that I couldn't name but it wasn't bad. Usually, kimchi at Korean restaurants is inedible. This place had some of the best kimchi I've ever eaten. We told them that we had driven an hr away so the owner even gave us some special banchan-Korean spinach mixed with doengjang. It was fantastic. I never order kalbi tang; I find it a waste of good meat. The owner told me to order it so I did. I died and went to heaven. It smelled so good, but the first bite was like falling in love. The broth was nicely seasoned and the meat wasn't over cooked and flavorless. It was beefy, came off easily when cut from the bones, and fantastic. The portions were generous...come hungry or expect to leave with leftovers. I can't wait for tomorrow morning so I can eat more kalbi tang. During our visit we were seated promptly and the servers/hostess were extremely pleasant. We ordered 1 beef tofu soup and 1 combo tofu soup. The broth tasted very clean and not oily. My spice level (3) was great and the soup is packed with veggies. Second was the seafood pancake. The dish came out piping hot and was delicious. The pancake was still crispy and pairs perfectly with the sauce they provide. The kalbi dish (marinated short rib) can be shared by 2 people may be 3 but comes on a skillet with grilled onions. Gluten free and dairy light eater. Appears as a causal dining experience with nice seating. My husband loves Korean food so I wanted to give it a shot. The menu wasn't terribly helpful for a gluten free eater. I asked our server for gluten free items, and he started off by saying it wasn't much. I asked he check with the chef to verify. He went back to the kitchen and came back with some options. He wasn't terribly certain what contained gluten (asked if sesame oil was gluten free). Options (don't take this as a for certain, ask the server), but he told me: Japchae. There is a little meat in it. The server asked if I wanted to substitute it for tofu. Tofu Soups except the beef/bulgogi/dumpling Traditional soups except dumpling ones. Sanchae bibimbap without the bulgogi. Although it's a veggie dish it has meat on the side. I ordered the Japchae. My husband ordered the Sanchae binimbap. He had meat in his but I tried it around the meat. The sides that came with it were chosen for me due to my allergy. I had to hesitate eating mine. I wonder when something tastes so good that it isnt gluten free. But my server insisted it was based on the kitchen staff. The flavors were second to none. My husband really enjoyed his meal. How exciting is it that this location is finally open!! Been seeing the coming soon sigh for months and I was beyond happy to finally see the "soft opening" sign! Glad we no longer have to drive all the way to Dobson for some freshly made tofu and authentic Korean food. Located right across the street from Target in the same plaza as Winco. This location is a little different than the original - they plan to bring in sushi soon, does not offer soondooboo combos (tofu soup + meat item), and they don't advertise that they make their tofu fresh in house. Oh! And they have a robot server at this location which may or may not explain the price of their kalbi *hides*. As curious as I was to see how big of a dish it would be to cost $45, my wallet was thankfully not curious enough. The food is just as good as the first location but man, prices are STEEP. Can no longer be one of those casual restaurants you pop into a few times a month, more of a semi special treat now with the hefty bill. Can't deny the great taste of the food, good service and yummy banchan (side dishes) though. Plenty of seatings and they have a dividing wall for each table, a perk of opening a new restaurant post COVID. Only thing missing is a service button you often see in Korean restaurants. I feel like it might come in handy once they're more busy and the place is a lot bigger so might be hard to flag down a server later on. We asked for tongs but the waiter forgot and we had to ask again. The food was good but everything could have used more seasoning.
