The staff is nice and great with kids but the way they run the office is terrible!!!! Waited an hour past our appointment time and I was not the only one upset about this. Another family had walked out and a dad was clearly frustrated and said that he's never coming back. I love all the tvs they have to distract kids but we won't be back!!! i took my son in for a cleaning / checkup. they were supposed to obtain medical clearance from Kaiser to pull a tooth a week later. if they didnt receive clearance, they were supposed to let me know before hand. i showed up to my appointment, and they told me they hadnt received clearance from Kaiser yet. no one called to inform me of this prior. i took off work early, didnt let my son eat for 2 hours before hand... I arrived and they asked me for the form, they told me that kaiser never responded to them and that they would be unable to see me. huge waste of time. my son is in pain, and I will never go back here. Absolutely horrible. Waiting over an hour past my appointment time to get my son seen. On top of that when I was checking my son in and going through insurance the receptionist very loudly repeated my sons social security number to another lady on the computer. Super unprofessional. We had our appointment at 3 & we didnt get called in until 40 min later I just told them to cancel our appointment. Its very frustrating when you have smaller kids & they are having to wait such a long time they get very impatient quickly. My son had been on an empty stomach for 4hrs per their req so he was very hungry & couldnt make him wait any longer. This had been the second time that we have had to wait this long. They need to not schedule so many appointments at the same time so patients do not have to wait so long. read more

So it turns out my child has another cavity .... ok ... so it's not the end of the world , right? I told the "dentist" I wasn't ready to go through with the x-rays etc etc today because we have been through a lot this week with my daughters health. 2 doctors visits, two visits to the lab to get blood tests, and 2 trips to the pharmacy... it is very hard enough being a single working aa it is. Then He told me in a very condescending manner that he didn't care what we have been going through and I needed to find another dentist. Maybe a place like this should hire Dentists who are also parents with some feeling instead of some pompous twit who only wants to cut out people's jugular veins . It is no problem to look for a decent Dentist who actually has some empathy and feelings, instead of some jerk who spends his free time at the gym. This morning my niece had an emergency, she cracked her baby tooth. Her mom had already left for work so I had to take her to the dentist. When you first enter Super Dentist, yes its amazing. I was very impressed with the decor and the front office receptionist was very friendly. I was then called back by a sweet assistant that did the initial look see. We showed her the tooth and said, "we just want to have it pulled since it is a baby tooth". She then asked me routine questions like when was her last cleaning and x-rays. I told her that I am her Aunt and was not sure, I was just authorized to come take care of the broken tooth. She took an x-ray and the doctor confirmed the tooth should be extracted. The assistant during that time left the room a few times and returned asking me if I was sure we did not want to have the cleaning, X-rays, sealants, other extractions and a consult for Orthodontics. I told her 3 times I was not comfortable doing work her mom did not authorize me to do, she agreed but was very persistent. Now I know because I worked in the dental field that it was not her fault she was clearly being coached by a higher up to get us to consent to more work. After I said no she then had us to go back out in the waiting room to wait. We waited 20 minutes in the waiting room and I finally said lets go. It was very clear that extracting a simple baby tooth was not a priority. I cant see why you would have a patient go back out in the waiting room after she has already been in that chair. Every time you switch patients out of the rooms there is a sterilization process that takes time and money for new seat covers ext ext. this baby tooth could have been out in less than 1 minute. I have watched several baby teeth come out before. We all know in dentistry that if you want to gain a long term patient that you take care of the main issue first to gain the patients trust. Once they are comfortable moving forward they will schedule follow-up appointments. No one likes to feel like they are being pitched or sold to. I hope you guys fix these problems you have a beautiful practice. read more

I came on here to write a 5 star review on our first experience here, and I was surprised to see all these negative reviews. I am not going to say it doesn't make me nervous. We brought our daughter here for her first dental appointment. The wait time was maybe 15 minutes, which worked out because I had to fill out the new patient forms. My daughter was immediately amazed of the place. She was so excited and happy to be there. The dental assistant was patient and sweet during my daughters X-rays. The dentist herself was such a wonderful woman. She made the experience magical for my daughter. She recommended some diet changes for my daughters cavity prone teeth. And she made a treatment plan for my daughters rather shabby teeth. When leaving we went to Lisa at the back desk and she was such a sweet woman! We loved talking with her. She really made me feel welcome and almost like a friend! Sure enough, we were able to get the insurance issue worked out, and now we are scheduled to go in for treatment. After reading these reviews, I am a little worried now. I can assure, no straps will be on my child as some of these reviews suggest is happening. If my child is not calm and painless, she will not be getting her work done. I am also seeing things that speak of misdiagnoses. That is worrisome. However we had a wonderful first time experience, and until reading these reviews, I was confident in this Super Dentist location. I will update with a further review after treatment! read more

I have taken my kids here for two appointments and my kids love this place. They actually look forward to going to the Super Dentist and get excited seeing advertisements for them. The only problem I have is with the front desk staff. From calling to confirm appointments all the way to the in office experience, they really kill the whole vibe for me. Yea its a good place for kids, but is it too hard to fake a smile and acknowledge patients that walk through the door? My visit here last Friday was akward. Out of the three women sitting at the front desk (one was browsing through her cell phone), I had to alert them that I was there to check in. On my way out, I had to alert them that i was standing there waiting to book a follow up. I thought CUTE! so I took my 5 year old. Our appointment was for a Monday morning at 8 am. I had requested the forms get mailed to me which they didn't, so I had to call the office a week in advance and ask the to email them. I filled them out and brought them in. I arrived at 7:45, before the office even opened. When they opened I handed the woman at the desk the paperwork. She told me she would input everything then they would call my daughter back. At 8:15 after seeing 6 kids get called back I went up to the desk to inquire as to what was going on. She told me they hadn't been able to get Insurance authorization. I was like, HUH?! I have Aetna and have NEVER had it take more than 5 minutes for approval. She assured me it would only be another few minutes but at 8:30 when we STILL hadn't been called back I went up and asked to reschedule. The woman NEVER apologized, just tried to blame my insurance (which, by the way My Kid's Dentist had NO problem getting hold of). It is a very COOL office but crowded with stuff, which makes it cool for kids but not so much for adults. I called the office manager who DID apologize and told me that they should have requested my insurance a few days before so I wouldn't have had to wait. To me, if you have to GO UP TO the desk and find out what the delay is, rather than someone taking the time to TELL YOU then that's a problem. Not worth it. As usual our appointment was at 3, we were about 5 minutes late and were taken back into a room at 3:56. Seriously? This is so unacceptable. When I asked what happened the guy said " its because we might have uncooperative patients". So I asked " would early morning me better?" He replied " it's usually the same". I asked if they double book patients and he just repeated himself " it's because of uncooperative patients". Basically he didn't answer my question. I get it , I have state dental insurance so beggars can't be choosers , However customer service doesn't need to suck. I also got a reminder last week, then two this week and a text. 1 reminder will suffice , 4 reminders is bordering harassment. It's odd that they would need us to be on time when it took 50 minutes to be taken back. This happens every time and like a drug fiend we keep coming back. They also keep asking if we would like a orthodontist consultation, um for his one crooked tooth? Yeah right. I even asked him to go ahead and put a note to not ask about cosmetic dentistry again. Other than the tardiness the staff is polite, that's the silver lining. read more

I have been using this dentist since my 8 year old was 3. I went there because he liked the atmosphere and it kept him calm. But this review is about why I changed dentists and will never recommend this place to anyone. My grievances: 1) the wait times are horrible, if you go here expect to be here 2-5 hours depending on the work 2) they strap kids down. Now I'm not a dentist but if a kid had that much anxiety, wouldn't it be better to start over another day? I sat through my son screaming and crying while in a full body restraint over a cavity when he as 4... But I went back 3) every time I go there they find a cavity... My kid doesn't eat sweets, brushes twice a day, flosses, etc, and they manage to find a cavity every time! This last time I refused the work and got a second opinion and guess what? NO CAVITY! 4) they want to put sealants on my two year olds teeth. Really? On a two year old? She won't even open her mouth on command and you want to work on her teeth? We will never be back. This dentist is only out to profit on children and parents who trust them. read more

I took my son to an appointment this morning and things started off shaky. I didn't confirm the appointment, so I was a little worried they weren't going to see him, but they confirmed it. Then we were sitting down and people that came in after us were being called back before us. Do NOT bring your child here!!!! The Super Dentist in Oceanside CA on Vista Way drilled my 5 year olds two front teeth down to nubs to put caps. That is a horrible traumatizing experience for a five year old but that didn't stop them and I didn't know any better. We had noticed staining and the super dentist said it was cavities so we thought it was necessary. Later they said she had four more cavities but this time I decided to get a second opinion. Took my daughter to Davis Pediatrics and they said my daughter did not have ANY cavities! I was appalled at the thought that anyone could make a business out of torturing children unnecessarily. This place is like the gingerbread house in the Hansel and Gretel story book. They dressed up their office so cute to bring in the kids and then trap and torture them. DO NOT GO HERE. Office opens at 8am. I waited for an available appt at 8am. Came in and was ready to go at 8AM. But I waited, when I complained I was told that "some children take longer" and if I would wait then then would see him ASAP. I spoke to office manager who just didn't get what I was saying. If you didn't actually have an opening at 8am, why did you book us at 8am? I kept getting, "well you can reschedule if you like". No thanks, I took time off work and waited for my appt now. We did not have a good experience here. The visit took 2 hours which is ridiculous. Then the cleaning tech was brushing the kids teeth and the end of the "toothbrush" fell off in the kids mouth, both of them. Thankfully they didn't choke. He didn't know what he was doing. Don't go! Oceanside office is abysmal! Over an hour and a half wait time with a child in pain in an over crowded waiting room. They made an appointment for a sedated "procedure" and had my child fast (no food no drink) and then ran an hour and a half behind. They failed to get the "medical clearance" from my child's physician even though I reminded them to the day before. I begged them to at least fix the painful tooth and knew my son was perfectly capable of making it through un sedated. They REFUSED. My child left in pain! Actually crying in pain! They could have helped him but chose not to. Even though it was their mistake in the first place. They refused to work on my child stating he needed heavier sedation because of his special needs. They said they could only do it through Children's Hospital. The wait list for the hospital was three months long. By the way update: We immediately left and found another dentist who indeed fixed the tooth un restrained and un-sedated. Just Novocain and a little nitrous oxide. There is no reason to sedate every single child unless profit is the only motivation. Shame on Super Dentist for leaving a kid in pain! read more

I will write this review now, but my revise it later if needed. So we came here for Ortho consults. And decided to use their services. So far my only complain is the constant reminders. First you get an email, and if you don't respond fast enough you get a text and then they call you. Really people I am busy. And I haven't missed an appointment yet. I even talked with them about this. I get that people don't take your time seriously. It happens in my business too. But you charge a missed appt fee. So collect your money and stop hounding me. read more

It was now 10:30 with no communication with anyone on what was going on or even to give me an update of what was going on. I have had multiple issues at this office but my kids love it so we kept going all these years. First off, it started when they recommended sealants for my daughter, which I am totally for. They informed me this service was not covered by my insurance which I questioned and was reassured they checked. So they offered me a discount cash rate. The following day I looked at my insurance plan and see sealants for kids are 100% covered. I even called insurance to verify. The office resolved the issue and billed my insurance (like they should have done the first place) but this is an extra hassle and waste of my busy time. At the last visit for my 4 yr old, I had my baby also with me. I signed in like I always do. We waited and the Super Dentist mascot was playing with us most of the time. We were waiting a while and after longer and being the only ones in the waiting room, I asked the front desk what time it was. My phone battery had died so I had left it at home to charge. Turns out it had been over an hour since checking in. I asked when we would be called back and the girl told me they had me down as a no show and had even called me. I explained why I didn't have my phone and the girl told me, "Well if you had your phone, this all could have been avoided." Wow, blaming the customer for your mistake. I pointed that I had signed in when first arriving. What is the point if they don't check it? When the dentist asked if I had any concerns I mentioned about being forgotten and waiting an hour to which she said to talk to the manager. I was already fed up and don't have all day to waste so I went home to find a message about my appt being canceled and there being a $25 no show fee. I left a message in response saying how upset I was with what had transpired and addressed that I better not receive a no show fee since we were there. I even said I was considering changing dentists. I never received a call back. The other week, I receive a call from billing saying insurance only covered 80% and there is a balance of 40 something dollars. This was for that appt for my son that was just a routine cleaning that took all of 10 minutes even though we waited over an hour. The girl asked if I would like to pay the bill or receive a statement. I said please send me a statement as I want to see what wasn't covered so I can rectify it with insurance. Today, I received a bill for $262.60 with no explanation, no cpt codes, or procedures listed. Just saying I need to pay this in 15 days. Excuse me. I am not going to pay for anything I haven't received a statement for which explains the breakdown of what I owe and what insurance covered. They have billed improperly before. I am fed up and will be changing dentists, but first I have to waste my time dealing with all these billing issues. read more

Get a second opinion before you let them do any work on your child's teeth. I wish I would have. We will never be back here again. I took my daughter in for a check up and they said they found a couple of cavities that they wanted to put crowns on. Made the appointment and when I brought her in they said they were going to place the crowns plus pull three other teeth. This was not mentioned in the previous appointment. In my opinion they do unnecessary treatments to charge insurance for. Yes it's a fancy place with tv's and video games all around but keep in mind someone has to pay for all that and it seems unfortunately our kids are paying for it by getting unnecessary procedures performed. read more

Beware! They will try to get you to pay for services that you do not use! We took our daughter here summer 2015 and paid for a teeth cleaning and exam only, no X-ray. The staff was accommodating and it was painless. Fast forward to today, 2-15-16, the staff told me that I had to pay the lump sum bill wether my child received X-rays or not. When I asked why, they told me that was policy. I then spoke with an office manager who told me twice how vital X-rays are for proper cleaning and pushed pretty hard for me to comply. I didn't, and miraculously I was charged just for the teeth cleaning and exam. Regardless if you have insurance or not, requesting that someone pay for services that were not done is ridiculous. Be careful and ask what the lump sum entails. read more

We have been customers of the Super Dentist for about three years each time the level of detail that the dental assistant (This time it wasPhil) to my children is priceless. Today in particular we had a visit from the superhero himself to assess my son for braces, he was extremely professional and very passionate about the children and very attentive to all of the questions that I had. I will say that without a doubt the Super Dentists will have a positive endorsement from my family and I. in the world and a job that takes me away from my children to be able to provide for them - every little bit of smiles and sunshine counts and the super dentist always make our day keep up the outstanding work!! I have always been a super fan of the Super Dentist. I started taking my eldest daughter to the Chula Vista location years ago (she just turned 21 10/1/16). By the time my eldest was eight we were going to the orthodontist in the Eastlake office. As we have added to our family the Super Dentist in Eastlake has been were our three youngest children got their dental care as well. Once we moved to Menifee...well, I just could not bare the thought of taking my kiddos to a local dentist. So, I drive them to the Oceanside office. Yeah, each office has TVs, dress-ups, video games, and Oceanside has coffee and tea for the parents. But, what keeps me going to the Super Dentists over any other pediatric dentist... It does not matter which office you attend...Chula Vista, Eastlake, Oceanside. The people are all great! The staff at each office is so caring and cute with the kids. Not just the staff that is working on your kids teeth, the front desk staff are also awesome! The kids feel like everyone there cares about them personally. And as a parent I am floored at how professional and courteous the whole office is! read more

Dr Yoo was awesome, my son had 4 extractions today and he was patient, friendly and funny. He also stopped when my son complained of pain and applied more medicine, waited to take effect and continued. Thank you Dr. Yoo!!
