The last time I was in Bronxville I noticed that Taco Project had opened. Being a fan of tacos, I made a mental note to try it whenever I found the right opportunity. That time came the other night when my friend and I were looking to catch up and grab some dinner. Located in the heart of Bronxville, this is actually one of three Taco Project locations in Westchester (the other two are in Yonkers and Tarrytown). The outside is kind of unassuming but the inside is quite nice. It has that raw, modern aesthetic with exposed brick, simple tables/chairs/stools, and splashes of color. The setup is that you order at the counter first, then find a seat and have your food served to you. The menu had typical Mexican spot offerings: tacos, burritos, bowls, and a selection of margaritas. I wanted tacos, so I honed in on that section. They had a number of types but I decided to go classic and get beef. The sidewinder fries sounded fun so I also got those, and a pineapple margarita to complete my experience. While the tacos were a nice and filled pretty generously, I found the beef to be too salty (and kind of greasy). The sidewinder fries were named so because it looked like the potato was cut with a peeler-like thing so they kind of looked like shavings (see my pic, it's hard to explain). Anyway, they were just fine - the shape was probably the most interesting thing. They were served with ketchup, sour cream, and this sauce which kind of had a Thousand Island-like taste to it. The pineapple margarita was just fine, not the most exciting I've had but not the worst. Service was fast and friendly. I think Taco Project will do good in Bronxville, albeit they need to adjust flavors and spices slightly in order to be in that four-star caliber. Neverheless, I would be open to returning - if anything they've brought a more unique concept to the Bronxville food scene. read more

Initially, the menu didn't have too many great taco options. Now they have a specials menu which adds a little more variety to the tacos offered. I'm surprised those weren't on the regular menu initially, but glad they are here. The burrito bowls are big portions which seems like a better deal than the tacos. The flavors are a little bit tamed and not what I would consider true authentic mexican. You can add some of the sauces to make up for that, but you shouldn't need to. It's a great addition to bronxville and I hope they keep expanding and tweaking the menu! read more

The palomas are served in cute clay mugs. $36 for a round, pretty fair considering the location. Wish there was more seating options because we sat on bar stools next to a small wooden bar near the front door. The bathrooms needed some attention too. read more

I ordered my fave the shrimp burrito bowl, twisted fries & watermelon drink. The burrito bowl ($12) doesn't come with any fixings except rice & beans, battered shrimp, sour cream, & cheese. You have to pay additional for salsa, corn, jalapeño & lettuce which are .50 cents each. You can easily end up paying over $16 for a small bowl. The fries I must say were very good! Seasoned well and hot out of the fryer. The watermelon drink wasn't as fresh as I'd like, and it was mostly ice. I gotta say, other than the fries I don't see myself having a reason to come back here. read more

1 star no taste, and all food arrived cold. We decided to try this place out since it had over 3 star. We ordered two orders of steak tacos, 1 rice and beans, and 1 guacamole order. When we received our food everything was cold. Only thing good was the guacamole since it needs to be cold at least they didn't mess that up. Steak tacos Cold upon arrival. We gave it a try to see how's the flavor. No flavor we each only had one and left the other. Tortilla had no taste, I've had some out of packages that taste better. The steak such a let down. Rice and Beans: super cold upon arrival, we must have had maybe 4 spoon fulls and that's it left everything. Not sure how they make the beans but nope I tried someone's beans who are learning how to make and it taste better. Rice no flavor. Skip this Guacamole: was the only thing that was good. Chips were above decent. The guacamole we actually enjoyed good flavor but if you don't like too much lime in your guacamole you will probably won't like this one. Has a lot of lime but that's how we like it so worked for us. Overall staff at the register was good, server wasn't really. We asked for napkins and a cup which ice never came we ate what we did and left. From the picture you will see what we got and how we left the table. "Taco Project" is my new favorite spot for Latin food and margaritas. Located in Bronxville, there is plenty of parking and quaint shops to walk around. I was passing by and saw patio seating and a sign for happy hour specials ...to be honest the name "Taco Project" got me curious. I walked in to see a clean establishment that had their menu displayed clearly on their wall and social distanced based seating and a hand sanitizer station. It was clear by the menu this was an authentic latin spot and that they were going to make a great cocktail. The inside had decor that was very nice. The staff was polite. The pineapple margarita I had while waiting for my food was on point. (It had a lime garnish but no pineapple garnish and was not yellow as they use a pineapple liquor not juice). They put salt on the rim of the plastic glass. Real glass would take a better picture but I noticed many establishments moving to plastic due to covid concerns. It tasted great and that is what matters. Let's talk food... the shrimp quesadilla was my families favorite. The steak burrito was large and filling. The coconut shrimp taco was great (2 to an order) but it was not coconut heavy. The Guac is a must !!! They also provide nice sauces on the side but I also got the pineapple salsa for .81 as I was curious ...and it was worth it. I am 100% going back to try the Sangria and the churros. I can't wait to take friends or a date here!!! The price is fair. I did not go to the bathroom so I can't speak to that. I did not dine in so I can't speak to waiter services. The bar tender was great though. They deliver via doordash and uber eats and had several pick up orders while I waited. It was a quick turn around on the Margarita and the food. I 100% recommend trying this place out instead of ordering pizza. If possible skip the delivery fees and instead eat there and use that $ to order a cocktail. I was going to take more pics but everything looked so good that my family divided it up before I could take photos. My family loved it ! UPDATE VISIT 2: I came back with a date and she was impressed. She loved the music, the steak burrito and the guac. She wants to come back to try the Sangria. First sampling their wares during the height of the pandemic, I finally decided to dine in-house and was pleasantly surprised. During the quarantine this has been one of our to go to places for parking lot picnics. We tend to go to the Bronxville location since we can walk around and get ice cream after, lol.. The staff is always very attentive and helpful. I have been at the location multiple times when ppl ask for recommendations and they provide some good suggestions and explanations. We have ordered pretty much everything on the menu and everything is always fresh and full of flavor. The sidewinder fries are great just make sure to get the dipping sauces!! read more

I'm giving it 4 stars purely for the battered fish taco. That was pretty decent. (Could use more of a slaw on top.) But for the business owners, please consider adding sides to the taco dishes you are charging $9 for. $9 for 2 tacos is pretty steep when you are serving them without any rice, beans, corn cake or other type of side - even a scoop of guacamole, sour cream and salsa. This is not Mexican food. Where is the flavor!!!!! I wouldnt mind paying more for great food but this food was subpar. I feel like I am paying the tax for eating in Bronxville. I ordered pork belly taco's, taco bowl, and the sidewinder fries. The decor and ambiance is OK. The system of ordering is weird and there is no direction. The seating that me and my guest were able to get were overlooking another restaurant. The pork belly tacos were all one note. There was not a balance of flavors and everyhting tatsed of pineapples as there was a pineapple glaze as well as chunked pineapples in the dish itself. The tacos needed some sort of acid and some spice. The bowl was also one note and missing balance. The sidewinder fries arent anything anything special. The best think I had that day was the Mango Jarrito. I had high hopes and wished that the restaurant was better. The restaurant truly let me down. What made me come here were the rave reviews from people who visited there other restaurants. I am defintely not interested in returning to this restaurant. read more

The food is consistently good, but the owners really, I mean really, need to hire more help. Two nights ago, the place was packed, and we sat for 30 minutes after ordering before our drinks (which I think were never ordered by our waitress) arrived. Our food took about 35 minutes. I typically pick up for delivery, and even when I'm told the order will take 20 minutes, I sometimes have to wait 5-10 minutes. This place is a cash cow. Put some effort into hiring more help, and the place is looking pretty tired also. I really like the Taco Project but it can be improved a lot. read more

Tried this place for a second time in one week with my family. Set in the beautiful, quaint, village of Bronxville, this is a great little date night spot. There is metered street parking available as well as a municipal lot behind the restaurant. The restaurant is small and has only a few tables. The venue is clean and well maintained. We tried a bunch of different items from the regular menu and went again a second time for their happy hour specials. The regular menu is pretty straight forward. You have the options of salads, tacos (hard or soft), quesadillas, burritos and burrito bowls (the bowl is made of a tortilla). In addition to these items you have appetizers which consist of salsa, guacamole, soup etc. Each item has a different protein to choose from which is pretty standard (chicken, beef, shrimp, pork etc). There are also a few dessert choices and a full service bar. Fresh juice and imported sodas are also available for about 3 dollars. The prices are a bit high, but reasonable for the area. We tried beef tacos and steak tacos from the regular menu. You get 2 tacos per serving. They averaged about $8.50 a dish. The beef tacos were crispy and well stuffed and nicely seasoned. The steak tacos were soft tacos and were also very good. The tacos were very filling. There is also a vegetarian option with "impossible" fillings. We also tried a guacamole with house made chips. The portion was big enough for two to share and the guacamole was fresh and delicious. The guacamole appetizer was about 7 dollars. In addition we ordered a rice with black beans. The portion was fairly small but tasty. Beers were 6 dollars and margaritas were a whopping 11-12 dollars. We also tried the churros which were crispy on the outside and soft in the middle served with chocolate and caramel for dipping. Happy hour is from 4:00pm-6:00pm. The waitresses are very nice and helpful. All Beers are 4 dollars and margaritas are 6 dollars. We tried the hibiscus margarita which was small but very good. Cocktail sized tacos are 2 dollars each (hard shelled beef tacos/soft chicken tacos). The tacos are the same as the regular menu tacos just a smaller bitesize portion. Salsa and chips are also 2 dollars and big enough to share. The caramel, coffee flan was amazing! This is a great date night spot, try it out. :) read more

When I read that The Taco Project was coming to Bronxville decided to try the one in Yonkers. It was pretty good for fast food, and the server was helpful. I had an appetizer of rice and beans which was kind of ordinary. The beans were small. Next I had a soft pork taco. guava soda (delicious) and a tre leche cake. It wasn't the best Mexican food I'd ever had but tasty enough that I wanted to come to the Bronxville place and try it out. I had a good beef taco and tamarind soda. The last time I came I had very tasty guacamole with great tortilla chips and a salad bowl with tortilla strips. I like the name. I like the interior space. I don't know if these guys are just off their game because of the COVID situation, but the shrimp quesadillas I ordered were worse than pub quality. Let me reiterate, these quesadillas were basically inedible. Overly fried, dry and flavorless. The chicken burrito was just okay. I hope the tacos are better, though based on my first experience, I'm not in any rush to try them out. read more
