First I'd like to mention I'm not from Laguna. I seen other restaurants offering tacos...fancy tacos...not authentic Mexican tacos. As a taco lover , this place impressed me with their tacos and churros! The carne asada meat was cut up into big pieces ( Most of times carne asada is cut into small pieces) ..but I'm not complaining ;) . A delicious guacamole was added and they have an area where you can get salsa/lemon/etc. The tacos were so good ! We even ordered the Baja fish tacos. I preferred the carne asada tacos. Service did take a while. Try to come earlier in the day not at night. There was a long line behind us. It took about 30min to get our food to go. Ambiance is great. I love hearing my people's music ! It's just a bit crowded because the small seating areas and the people all waiting inside for their orders. This place actually surprised me with how good their food was! I totally understand why there's always a line outside the door. The line moves somewhat slow, but when I went, there was only 1 person working the register. But with good company, the line is fine to wait in. My friends and I got the sonora taco, spicy shrimp taco, California burrito, and carne asada fries. Granted, we didn't finish it all, but there were a lot of great options on the menu. I really liked the tacos because the tortillas were soft and the tacos were stuffed. It was almost like a mini burrito! The California burrito was also yummy! Nothing too out of the ordinary with it, but it was pretty big. The carne asada fries were also pretty good. Out of all of them, I'd say the tacos stood out the most. Since it is close to the beach, parking can be pretty challenging. There is a small parking lot on the side, but it can get full fast. There's also indoor and outdoor seating, which is great. The workers here are nice and they work really hard to get your order out as soon as possible. read more

Food - good enough as a tummy stuffer and a decent taco stand with decent prices in a highly inflated and pricey Laguna Beach. They lack in the salsa department though. And since the doors remain open, sometimes the salsa bar has some flyovers. What ever happened to the air curtain requirements? I digress. I love the Churros. They also have corn or elote. Service - oriented order at the counter and get called on. Fairly straightforward serve yourself environment Ambiance - this used to be a Taco Bell but has been revamped to be this place. Finally back on California grounds & had a craving for carne asada tacos so before heading to my parents house for R&R for the next couple days we decided to try The Taco Stand and oh my goodness the best food ever in the OC ! Service was great they really listened to my order which sometimes I can be complexed on what I'm putting into my body but they got my order right ! I rate this place a 3.7/5. I came to Laguna with friends and it was definitely difficult to find something affordable within walking distance of downtown. We tried: Al Pastor Burrito, California Burrito and the Pollo Asado Burrito. The California Burrito is an 8/10. The Al Pastor Burrito is a 6.9/10, too much pineapple!! The Pollo Asado is a 8/10. The salsa bar has many options! The burritos came out to be about $10 and they are pretty big! I recommend! The workers are kind and get food out quickly. A little torn on how to rate. Got the Al Pastor taco and the Al Pastor fries. The meat on the taco was cold and super chewy, but the other ingredients were really good and over all the taco was good. The loaded fries were great, it was like they used different meat on them. The only issue there was I asked for no guacamole and they put guacamole on it. Great tacos, love the grilled shrimp, also carne asada, they have a great habanero salsa along with other salsa in their salsa bar. Amazingfliur tortillas too. The service at the counter is hit and miss. There's a girl that could use some customer service training, one of our visits we ordered chips and she's like oh it's the last one so we just got one but then when the manager or owner was there he got us another one. Also they are out of ice w their soda machine so nothing major for quality of food but just service gestations. Tacos r great! read more

I now understand the long lines and the hype about this busy little taco shop! The food is made to order, and could not be any fresher. Their corn tortillas taste homemade, and their salsa bar has some really interesting choices. The meat is extremely flavorful and high quality. The only inconvenient thing is the orientation of the menu above your head when you get to the register, and the drinks tucked away in a cooler that has no prices displayed-not easy to grab and add on after you order as they only have 1 register. My husband and I stumbled upon this gem after a proposal dinner, and I'm so glad we decided to stop in! We came on a Saturday night--it was pretty busy, but the staff was quick to take our order, and we had our food within 10-15 minutes. Since it was crowded, we found seats right in front of where they make the tortillas, which turned out to be a fun experience. The vibe here is really cool, and I loved watching them hand-make and cook the tortillas right in front of us. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in the area! A great spot to come to after a beach day. Always a line out the door here, but orders are prepared quickly. Has a good amount of both indoor and outdoor seating. Their prices here are good for Mexican in general, and stellar when compared to other places in laguna beach. I got the shrimp and steak burrito, both the shrimp and steak were cooked perfectly. Sooooo yum. I do wish there was rice and beans included in the burrito to add some more complexity, but I was happy avocado was included. Wish chips were included in the order, but ah well. I love it when a burrito comes together perfectly! - Baja Taco | Incredible lightly crispy battered fish (buttery and flakey), cabbage, cilantro, tomatoes, onions, and chipotle sauce. if you want cheap, in Laguna Beach, the Taco Stand is great. The Baja Taco (which has fish) and the Volcan tostada (usually a special, not a regular menu item) are home runs. The location, so close to the beach, makes it a great stop for food if that's your program for the day. They have some parking on premises and some parking on the streets. Service is good - a little slow but not harmful enough to dock a star. The Taco Stand in Laguna Beach is small and quaint - not in any special way except a little old fashioned.
