Ordered yukaejang takeout. The container is not even full. Smallest bowl of soup or stew I've ever seen from a "korean" restaurant. $20 for almost NO meat in it. This was the biggest ripoff. The fried chicken here is delicious! Reviewers were right, because for some reason - the chicken stayed crispy even after a 40minute drive home + reheating. The chicken is also marinated well! There are some chicken wing places with delicious sauce (BWW) but when you actually bite into it, it comes off a little underwhelming since they never bothered to marinate or season the meat at all. This place is different! Probably up there with Chi Mac in udistrict, but with larger pieces of chicken wings :) We also ordered the spicy rice cakes, but it was slightly too much on the red peppers flakes/paste for me, unfortunately. Ended up being too spicy and it was a little one dimensional - since I could only taste the spicy sweet sauce and nothing else. It was also $10.99, but the portion you get for the price is a little less than what you pay for. Taking 1 star off for that- but do come here for the chicken! read more

Came in looking for a table for 4 and was told to wait in the hallway for our table. 10 minutes went by and we started to notice that people who came in after us were getting seated. When we went to the counter to ask what was going on we were then told that we needed to put our name down on the waitlist. We were unaware there was a waitlist (sitting behind the counter) to begin with. Would have been nice to know rather than just telling us to stand in the wait area for nothing... We ended up waiting another 15 minutes to get seated and during this time we noticed a strong smell of feces/sewer flowing through the wait area. We much preferred to stand outside in the cold & wet 30 degree weather than have to endure the smell in the wait area. This smell is typically a sign that the grease trap is in dire need of cleaning. Also during our wait we got a peek into the kitchen where one of the workers was seen without a face mask. When our pitcher of beer came it had at least 2 inches of foam on top. We thought about sending it back to be poured again, but let it slide hoping things were going to get better. Then came the sundubu which we noticed was lukewarm at best. We waited about 5 minutes to see if the raw egg would cook and none of the eggwhites would cook. We asked to have the sundubu reheated and the waiter said that this was the way it comes. Only after pointing out that the egg in the soup was still completely uncooked, did he bring it back to have it reheated. I've had plenty of sundubu in the past and understand that a raw egg is often cracked into the soup prior to serving, but our soup tonight was so undercooked that the egg was still completely raw even after letting it sit for quite a while. Since our sundubu had to be reheated we also asked for a refill on the bonchon. This was never brought out to us. They never checked on us to see if the meal was going ok. Service is hardly there. The only saving grace of the night were the Creamy Onion Boneless Chicken and Stir Fried Brisket with Bean Sprouts. For the meantime, I'd rather drive down South to their sister restaurant The Underground. Much better service and quality of food. Good luck on trying to get take out as well. Had a conversation with some people who were waiting over 40 minutes for their order. They were never given an estimate, rather "it will be out soon". They do not check vaccinations for dine in, so if you're unvaccinated I guess that's a plus. read more

Normally I order the Korean chicken wings to go, which are pretty tasty. We decided to dine in today, and ordered wings, beer, and spicy tofu soup. Sadly, the wings were oversized and mostly drumsticks instead of a nice mix of wing flats and drumsticks, and they were lacking flavor :( I was also bummed by the service today. We were barely there for 35-40 minutes, and there were many tables that were already seated when we came in. We ate pretty quickly, paid, and was just enjoying the last of our beer. Abruptly, the server came by and asked us to leave, since there were other people who came in and wanted to dine in (there was no line when we came in, and there were only a few new people waiting). There was no 5 minute heads up, just a flat: "yeah, can you leave now?" Super awkward! There were multiple other tables who had been there longer than us, and they were not asked to leave. Not sure what made them choose us other than we ate the food quickly and were just finishing drinks. Won't be back to eat in person, because of the poor service and getting rushed out the door. Ordered half and half chicken, corn cheese and dukbokki. I am a little picky when it comes to kfc, batter is a little different from what I expected (still good though). The marinated chicken was more of a sweet and sour sauce, does have a little kick. Chicken was juicy, corn cheese was delicious. After all the glowing reviews of the fried chicken that I had been seeing over the last few weeks I couldn't resist stopping by to get some to go (which I then ended up chowing down in the car right outside right away anyway). I got the half-n-half and asked for it to be 4 star spicy. The chicken was just really very sweet. The regular friend chicken was nice and crispy on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside albeit a tad too greasy. The Yangnyum looked really nice but was severely lacking any kind of spice whatsoever. When I think of Korean Fried Chicken I think of spicy and tang with an undertone of sweetness; this was overly sweet with some tangy notes and absolutely no spice. My wife who has a low spice tolerance ended up chowing these down for dessert. I'm not sure if they maybe just made a mistake in the spice level and accidentally gave me a 1 instead of a 4. Overall the chicken was pretty good though. 14 decent sized wings for $23 is still a little expensive though so for that price I'd expect the very best which this has the potential to be with a few tweaks but isn't there yet. I'll maybe give it a try again in a few months (and carry some of my own hot oil and gochujang with me just in case) but for now it's a solid 3.5 from me. p.s. First time trying this place. Food: Came in with a family of 4. We ordered 6 dishes and it was plenty. Very happy with each of our selections. Their fried chicken wings were very good, fresh & hot. We ordered two soups, tofu and the beef short rib, which were flavorful. Everything we ordered came out hot & fresh. Authentic Korean food as far as what we were hoping for. Area: Street parking was a little bit of a challenge for a Friday night. However the area is walkable, clean and felt safe. Service: Happy with our server overall. Didn't order anything else since I was planning on getting some small bites at other places nearby and not sure if this is why but felt like service was lacking. Waitress seemed uninterested when cashiering. Only radish side dish included. Set of banchan would be additional $5. No utensils or even napkins included nor was I asked if I needed any. Actual chicken was just okay for the price point (you could get an entire meal at Ezell's!). Korean style wings were tasty but don't think I'd get the regular fried chicken wings again. Such a perfect spot! We found this place after 9 hours of flying and waiting on our check in for our hotel. They have the best wings on the Eastside hands down. Super crispy, most likely double fried, moist chicken with the most flavorful sauce. I highly recommend getting the Yangnyum wings. The flavor is similar to sweet and sour sauce with a kick. You can adjust the heat level 1-5. If you like it spicy like me, ask for level 4. It packs some heat but still enjoyable. My second favorite from this establishment is their spicy squid stir fry. It's so good with rice and all the side dishes that comes with it. Trust me, after a 30min drive home from picking the order, both the wings and spicy squid were still piping hot. The wings were amazingly crispy! I would also recommend ordering their seafood pancake but it is best eaten at the restaurant. The same applies to the BiBimBap, it is best served in a stone dish onsite. We ordered the yangnyum chicken & seafood pancake. Note: We had no idea how large the portion sizes were, and this food would've easily fed 4 people (or 3 very hungry people). Seafood pancake had large and tender chunks of octopus and was perfectly seasoned! Honestly, that alone could've been a full meal and was very generously portioned. The yangnyum chicken was juicy and delicious; however the "3" level of spicy was a touch more than we would've liked (totally our fault and we eat hot sauce on everything so didn't anticipate the level of heat accurately ) and would probably get a "2" next time. We have now gone their twice and have loved it both times. The tofu bibimbap does not have an egg, so if you want one, ask for one. There was a tofu stir fry that sounded so simple but was so extremely flavorful - the vegetarian SO appreciated it a lot. The banchan was been delicious both times with variance depending on the day. Tofu soup does not come with crispy rice like the nearby Korean restaurant, but regular rice is provided and that's fine by me. Seafood tofu soup wasn't overly salty. But the real winner here is the fried chicken. I got the half and half, which I ate all of by myself. Do I regret this decision? A little bit, but the crunchy crisp was so addicting, I couldn't stop eating it. They ask for spice on a scale of 1-5 with one being just a sweet and sour sauce with little to no spice and five being "true Korean spice". I got a 3 but very quickly asked if I could have more spice. I'd say it was similar to a 1 or 2 at most Thai restaurants or similar to the heat of flaming hot Cheetos. The true Korean spice, the 5, that I dunked each delicious wing into had a slow burn that wasn't in your face spicy but rather it was extremely enjoyable. Do you bite into Serrano peppers and think "this is delicious"? This spice is for you. The plain friend chicken was tasty, but I preferred it to be dipped in yangnyum. Even after it sat for half an hour with sauce, the chicken was still delightfully crispy. Eat them all by yourself (like I did) or share them (as most people around us did), it's up to you. One word to note: they have "k-dishes" and with the current pandemic, they do stop these at 7:50pm every night so it's much better to drop in earlier rather than later. read more
