    Honey Garlic Chicken
    Michelle T.

Are there places where you always order the same items every time you go? At The Third Place, I always order Honey Garlic Chicken (Korean Fried Chicken) and Creamy Rice Cake (Tteokbokki). This is my favorite place to get Korean Fried Chicken, specifically the Honey Garlic Chicken. The chicken is always fried to perfection and maintains its crispness even while it's covered with sauce and surviving the drive home (takeout). Honey Garlic is my favorite flavor, but Yangnum is good as well. The Creamy Rice Cake is not your typical spicy, red Teokkbokki (although they do also have that). It's like they put rice cake in alfredo sauce with slices of fish cake and onions. The texture of the rice cake is superb! So tender and chewy. I order takeout via their website and food has always been ready by the specified time. There are street parking and lots available, but at times can be a pain to find an available spot.

Partner and I have been craving some Korean fried chicken and spicy rice cakes and decided to try The Third Place. We were pleasantly surprised! The service was good and despite a little hiccup, they addressed the issue right away. Interior was clean and noise level wasn't too loud neither. The Korean fried chicken was great! I'm not sure if they use a rice flour or something a little different but it was lightly buttered and crunchy! We got Original and a Honey flavor and both were delicious. The spicy rice cakes were good too. I believe every place has their own "style" and we liked it here. Not too spicy and a good amount of rice cakes and other ingredients.

I've ordered out before. But finally went in to dine. Service was a little slow. The place was nice. It was kind of funny to see k drama playing on the tv. I love the BanChan with crispy chicken, chefs kiss. Like how do they make the chicken so crispy. It's so delicious.

I had a really fantastic time at the Third Place a couple years ago and decided to pull up once again for some Korean fried chicken on a Friday night at around 7:30 PM. It's located in downtown Redmond, so parking can be a tad difficult, but there's a small lot on the other side of the Half Price Book that is free. Contrary to my last visit where the restaurant had a line out the door, it was almost completely empty this time around and that was the first red flag. My overall impression was nothing tasted quite as it should have and everything was just subpar, not sure that I'll ever be back. Cheese Spicy Rice Cakes (2/5): The rice cakes themselves felt like they were undercooked - they had zero chew and just broke apart when you bit into it. The sauce was really odd: thin, not sweet enough, oddly fishy, and didn't taste like gochujang at all. Would not get this again. Sweet Potato Fries (3/5): The most mid sweet potato fries ever. Needed some more crunch crunch and could do with a little more salt. Yangnyum Fried Chicken (2.75/5): The chicken itself came out super fresh and wasn't too dry. However, once again, the sauce was all wrong. No gochujang flavor again and was super watery, so it just completely sogged up the crunch on the chicken. It felt like eating soggy fried chicken that was spicy, but also had no flavor.

After looking for a Korean restaurant that had good reviews with both cheesy corn and rice cakes, we came across The Third Place. The restaurant can be easily missed, as it's nestled in a plaza and the signage isn't the best. We walked in around 1pm, and there was only one other table of customers so we were seated immediately. We ordered cheesy corn, spicy rice cakes, the spicy pork lunch box and beef bulgogi lunch box. The two lunch boxes had a variety of different items from broccoli, kimchi, macaroni salad, glass noodle salad, potatoes, a piece of dumpling, a couple orange chicken and a chicken wing in addition to the main dish with rice (all for $18.99), which isn't bad price wise as it was enough for two people or two meals. The corn was extremely disappointing, as the corn was warm and the cheese wasn't melted just a glob of cheese, especially dine it was $12, not worth it in my opinion. The spicy cheesy rice cakes were also disappointing, the texture of the rice cakes were good but it was far from spicy and again the cheese wasn't melted, just a glob. The pictures for both are deceiving. Overall, glad we gave it a try but with the plethora of other Korean restaurants I wouldn't come back here.

The trouble with business travels is sitting in your hotel room researching dinner ideas, nearby restaurants... I decided that tonight I just needed something a little spicy, something tasty, and not too distant from my hotel. Tonight I chose "The Third Place", a small family owned and operated Korean restaurant. I'm glad I did...!!! I ordered the Kimchi Stew, it arrived quickly, boiling hot...and goodness, it was fabulous. Just the right amount of spice, and full of flavor. Also, in traditional Korean fashion, banchan is also served. Banchan comes in many styles and varieties, this serving was pickled vegetables. Yummy...!!! I've not been to this restaurant before, but the service was spot on, the food remarkable, and the costs agreed with my pocket book. I most certainly will return...I hope to see you there.

Great place in Renton to meet up with friends for Korean dishes, especially fried chicken! We usually get the original fried chicken wings and a couple of appetizers to share. The restaurant isn't too big so there might be a wait depending on when you get there. There is usually street parking nearby since it's located in a shopping center.

Spicy Seafood Stir-Fried Udon, it was ok.

We decided to try a new Korean place besides Mama's Kitchen in Factoria. This place has good reviews, and I think the good reviews are mainly for the fried chicken. We ordered Tofu soup, spicy seafood udon, and honey garlic fried chicken. The tofu soup didn't taste like typical Korean tofu soup, I would still go back to Mama's Kitchen for it. The spicy seafood udon was ok, not too good not too bad. We loved the honey garlic fried chicken the best! The chicken was flavorful, crispy, and not too salty nor too oily. Next time, we plan to try the original friend chicken.

Tteokboki mad does not taste right. The cheese also is crusted over it and not mixed into it. The fries are soggy and not in a good way.

My go to spot for great korean fried chicken and creamy seafood udon. Third time here and it continues to be consistently good. The chicken is large, juicy, crispy, and full of flavor. I've tried most of the flavors - our favorite is probably the honey garlic. But my favorite dish of all time is the creamy udon with seafood. Sooo good and the perfect pairing with the fried chicken! It's great to also bring home as leftovers and heat up and add more to it. We've also tried their sister restaurant Underground Kitchen in Federal Way which also had awesome korean fried chicken.

Half and half chicken wings, corn cheese, tofu soup, spicy rice cake

Saucy and spicy wings, 15 wings for $23, call button for service is such a nice feature.

The fried chicken here is delicious. I got the half and half regular and mild/spicy fried chicken. It was fried perfectly, was surprisingly pretty crispy even after eating it 20 to 30 minutes later- I am sure it would be glorious if eaten right away , generous portions, and the flavor was great. I got a three out of five spice level and it wasn't spicy at all for me but still very tasty. Would definitely return to try more things

The chicken is incredibly tender and there are some nice fatty pieces in there that add a lot of richness and flavor. Exactly what you want from a proper Hainan chicken. It comes with two sauces and both are delicious. I personally felt like it was missing a soy sauce component, but then again the ginger sauce does a great job of tying everything together so I get why they went that route. Small thing overall. I did takeout and the whole process was quick and painless. The soup that came with it was really flavorful and had just the right amount of salted elements to help cut through the richness of the chicken. A nice touch that rounded out the meal. One thing worth mentioning is that I noticed it was available on DoorDash for a bit cheaper, so if you are ordering in, that might be the move. But if you are picking up in person the experience is smooth either way. Will definitely be ordering from here again. Very solid, especially coming from an LA Native

DAVES HOT CHICKEN @ REDMOND…read more Parking is honestly pretty horrible here. You'll really only find street parking unless anyone knows of a parking lot nearby. Since it's located in downtown Redmond, parking can be a bit of a challenge. The area itself is very walkable though, with plenty of shops around Redmond Town Center. You could honestly park at Redmond Town Center and walk over to Dave's Hot Chicken, it'll probably take about 10 to 15 minutes. Otherwise, you can try your luck with street parking, especially if you're just doing a quick pickup. I really wanted to try their mozzarella sticks, so I got the $10 combo that came with three mozzarella sticks, fries, and a drink. I ordered them at Medium heat and kind of wish I could've chosen different spice levels for each stick, but they were still really good. The place was honestly super crowded when I went. I feel like Dave's Hot Chicken is just an overall great chicken spot, and if you haven't tried their chicken yet, it's definitely a must. This time, though, I specifically wanted to try the mozzarella sticks. I placed a pickup order and got my food pretty quickly. They even had samples of their slushies and drinks available to try. The staff were super friendly, and the overall vibes were great. The atmosphere is really cool, and I love the design and branding of Dave's Hot Chicken. I ordered online to try and save some of the wait time, but we were waiting to pick up way after our scheduled time. If the food was good, I'd be OK with it -- but this was the saltiest meal I've ever had in my entire life. I don't know how else to put it. The chicken in the sliders was coated in powder that hurt my mouth, the sauce hurt too, the pickles were even worse, and even the fries and mac&cheese were too salty! All of this compounded like crazy and there was just nothing you could do to escape it. I choked this down, really. The chicken wasn't very close to being juicy. It was expensive too, can't just let it go to waste. One star for the very secure togo packaging and another for the nice presentation (bright reds, greens, yellows) it had. But man, the spice isn't good (or there) and the salt is just awful!

Although we didn't order any dishes that made use of the advanced tabletop, I still think it's so cool! Despite the tables also having a digital kiosk, I appreciated how they still handed us actual menus and manually took our order, both of which are becoming less common these days. Our group started with some hot tea and ordered three dishes which was the perfect amount to share. We loved each item and I enjoyed tasting the various banchan side dishes (included with most main menu items): broccoli, traditional kimchi, omelet, potato, salad and kimchi cucumbers. I can be picky about kimchi, but this one had an ideal balance between tartness, spice, slight sweetness and umami. Their kimchi cucumbers were also a hit as they were refreshing with a tantalizing heat. + SEAFOOD PANCAKE ($25): My first time having a seafood pancake and it won't be my last! It was hot right off the pan with a crispy golden exterior. The seafood included baby shrimp, baby octopus and calamari. It seemed like the portion of seafood was reasonable since I had some in almost every bite, however I don't recall seeing much shrimp... mostly calamari and octopus. They added a lot of green onion, which I personally liked as it gave the pancake an element of freshness. This came with a side of soy dipping sauce, but I enjoyed it as is. The portion size was generous for the three of us. + KIMCHI BEEF TOFU SOUP ($22): This soup was basically a comforting hug in a stone pot. It arrived at our table, still bubbling, with a small bowl of rice. While there wasn't a ton of beef in the soup, the pieces were lean and tender and there was enough to split between the three of us. I loved the smooth silky tofu, and the kimchi gave the soup a little tang. Adding a scoop of rice into my personal bowl and pouring the soup on top made for perfect bites as the grains absorbed the broth. We requested a medium spice level which was just right for me. + HOT POT BI-BIM-BAP w/ CHICKEN ($25): You can't go wrong with this dish! Carrots, radish, zucchini, bean sprouts, spinach and a raw egg topped the bed of rice along with our protein choice of chicken. We stirred in the egg immediately and I enjoyed all the fresh vegetables in the bowl. The chicken was delicious as well and seemed to have a slightly sweet marinade. The best part is the little bites of rice that crisped up against the side of the bowl, adding some toasty notes and texture. We forgot to drizzle on some of the red chili sauce provided with the dish, so I'll need to do that next time! The three of us had a terrific dinner here and the service is so kind. We were checked on three times, which surpassed my expectations. We came for an early dinner on Sunday, so it was relatively quiet, even shortly after 6:00P. Even if the restaurant was full, the tables are spaced comfortably apart and I noticed they even had a separate section that is walled off for a larger group. Parking is also easy, running right alongside the neighboring walking trail. Needless to say, I'll be back!

At 11:45am on a Saturday, my group of three had no problem getting a table. Their menu is extensive and has all the Korean food classics including seafood pancake, soondubu (stone pot tofu soup), galbi jjim (beef stew), Toppokki, bibimbap, and cold noodles (spicy and non-spicy versions). Their entrees are around $20 each, but some larger hot pot dishes (meant for 2-3 people) can be up to $70. I ordered the BULGOGI BIBIMBAP (~$24). Unfortunately they don't serve stone pot Bibimbap here, but the portions are large and beautifully presented. My dish came with plenty of fresh vegetables- pickled carrots and cucumbers, sesame bean sprouts, daikon kimchi, lettuce, and marinated black mushrooms (which I've never had in Bibimbap before but was soooo good) on top a bed of fluffy white rice! The egg was cooked perfectly over easy and the meat was marinated well too- I do wish the dish came with more meat though. They give you your typical sweet and spicy gochujang red sauce on the side as well as white vinegar and mustard sauce for added flavor. Service was fantastic and you get complimentary hot tea and ban chan (which are refillable). The ban chan included cucumber kimchi, daikon kimchi, sesame bean sprouts, kimchi, fish cake, and sesame choy. All employees were very friendly and made you feel at home.
