We really enjoyed our dinner at The Turk this evening. The lentil soup was very good, the pita bread fresh baked right out of the oven was fantastic, which went very nicely with the hummus we ordered, also delicious. Also had falafel appetizer, excellent. The Turkish beer (Efes) we tried went very nicely with all. For the main dish I had the lamb shish kebab, very tender and tasty, outstanding! To say I've never had turkish food is probably an understatement, but I've had a lot of food similar. Went here with 2 friends, got a small cold and hot appetizer plate and then split it. The Hummus was amazing, the babaganoush was delicious (though I prefer a smoked eggplant flavor in mine, my dining companions do not). the eggplant salad was fought over, the zuchinni pancakes were devoured instantly. The spanakopita had egg, which one among us did not like. The cigar rolls filled with feta didn't make it 2 minutes. Also the pita here is so good. So really good, it comes out hot and fresh and if you order a second basket accept a wait time because they're making more when you order more. Yes I burned my tongue. Last time we went it was very good when the owners son was working. Unfortunately , yesterday we had probably the worst culinary experience of my life and I just turned 64. I had throat cancer and was very clear with the manager/waiter that I needed a dish that was very tender. Last time I had the veggie stew, which I told him. He recommended the lamb stew. The lamb was like " Jerky ". I choked on it. There were very few vegetables in the stew as well. My mom is 92 and doesn't eat much. She wanted the falafel appetizer. The manger was pushing like a used car salesman to get the entree . I agreed just to get rid of him,and the uncomfortable situation. I told my mom we would take leftovers to go. I ordered a large bottled flat water. He brought sparkling. Already opened, so I let it go. It does give me gas. I Just wanted to enjoy a calm pleasant lunch with my mom. The bread was overcooked or old. The falafels were overcooked and hard to swallow. We took both dishes home, since we barely ate. In hindsight we should have just left them. Did I mention these are $24 lunch entrees . When we got home, and open the bags we found that we were given someone else's food. Enough details. " Don't go". Very inconsistent, expensive, and poorly run. Oh it took 45 minutes to get our food w only 3 tables with customers. " Let the buyer beware. It was a take-out: eggplant salad and hummus. The salad was okay, but the hummus had a liquid consistency and has soured. I threw it in the garbage. If I wasn't too tired to go back there, I would return it to the restaurant and ask for a refund. The bread was okay, and the people friendly. Excellent service and food. The waitress and the waiter were very knowledgeable about Turkish food (which is very healthy by the way). Even though the prices for entrees are about $23.00 or thereabouts, the portions are BIG and the ambiance/service is excellent. So if it is two persons dining, order one appetizer and one entree. We ordered the hot appetizer (small) and the Dona Kebab. Large amount of meat, big salad and Turkish bread (similar to pita bread toasted). Wine was Turkish too. Dry with the flavors of grapes grown in more drier Mediterranean climes. We had the one dessert...Baklava and coffee (not Turkish). Will go back again. Now eaten here 5+ times so can say it's an extremely nice place to dine. Very good food, and very generous portions for the price/quality. The servers are the sweetest guys but can get a little behind if they get a good crowd. So my advice is think of it as visiting a lovely European restaurant where taking time and relaxing is part of the experience. Came on an off hour on Sunday (like 3:45pm) and so my wife and I had whole place to ourselves. The chef / owner was out as our sever (with one other kid) explaining each dish. Service was impeccable. Had the mix hot appetizer which was a bargain for what you get. For entree had mix chicken entree and my wife had shrimp kabob. Had the baklava for dessert. Every single thing we ate was amazing. We ordered from the place last Friday trying to support the Hudson Valley restaurants during these times... pretty happy with the falafels I ordered. Nicely seasoned and green on the inside! I was a bit sad at the size of tinny-tiny eggplant salad so lesson learned for next time. Pita bread and tahini were yummy! My family and I had dinner at The Turk on Friday. It was our first time as my son recently moved to Mt. Kisco. This was a great find. From the moment we walked in we were treated with such warmth as if we were walking into a family member's home. Then we sat and were treated to some of the most amazing dishes. The lamb melted in my mouth. My family and I will definitely be frequent visitors to this amazing spot. I should also not fail to mention the incredible atmosphere. I grabbed some takeout from this lovely restaurant on my lunch break and was really impressed! The prices were very reasonable for lunch - $14.99 for a starter and entree. I ordered the eggplant with spicy sauce for my starter and the Adana kebab for my entree. The waiter was very friendly and personable and even treated me to some complimentary water and Turkish delight while I waited for my takeout which was so thoughtful! My starter was delicious - medium chunks of fried eggplant in a rich, savory sauce. It was accompanied by two types of bread- one with sesame on top and flatbread. Both were served warm. The entree was so flavorful and plentiful! I got a hearty serving of lamb kebab with some tzatziki sauce on the side. It came with a really fresh and crisp green leaf and beat salad and two types of grain- white rice and barley! I wish I lived closer so I could come more often but next time I'm in town I'll be sure to visit! read more

This is my second time at The Turk and I continue to enjoy my experiences here. We came here with a big group and they were very accommodating to a member in our party with a dairy allergy. The reason for dining out was a birthday celebration and at the end of the dinner totally unprompted, the server came over with a platter of treats with "Happy Birthday" written on the plate. It was such a kind gesture! The food here is really good. I would recommend anything lamb, it's just melts off the fork and is always delicious. My only complaint is that I think the service is a little slow but I think it's because the food it made to order. However, once the food comes, you'll forget you waited because you'll be so busy enjoying your meal! read more

Parking was easy to find both on the street outside the restaurant and in the lot across the street. The decor and ambience are tastefully suggestive of the cuisine but not overwhelmingly so. we seated ourselves and were greeted by Simon the proprietor. He was pleasant and courteous, warm and hospitable. We did not order any appetizers but he brought us a couple on the house. One was leeks in pastry, and the other was a spicy feta cheese spread. Both were excellent. A couple of us had the house specials for main course - lamb over slow roasted eggplant with rice, and others had a tomato and yogurt gyro. Both were excellent quality meat and ingredients cooked very well. Though Simon offered us either rice or salad, he ended up bringing us both. This is without any extra charge. We did not order dessert but he brought us each a small taste of the house made baklava which was quite syrupy but not overly sweet which made it an excellent balance and combination; also there were plenty of nuts in it. We would return to this restaurant frequently if we lived in the area. I have no suggestions for improvement. Simon knows hospitality! read more

For our entree we had the mixed grill plate which was large enough for 2. We had a delicious bottle of Turkish wine to wash it down. The ambiance is that of eating at someone's house. This place is mediocre. Went here for dinner during a weeknight. They ran out of a few things when we started ordering, which we understood but still disappointed. I had the the Chicken Kebab and that was quite pleasant. My friend ordered the falafel and shared some with me. We both agreed it was the worst falafel I have ever had. It was dry and hard. On top of this, around 9.30p, we received our check and paid. The restaurant emptied of customers and there was a really LOUD phone ringing. We ignored it at first but it kept going for at least 5 min if not more. We finally stopped our conversation and noticed no one was around. No employees in the front or kitchen. We called for someone. No one. We got the hint they basically wanted us out. Mind you their hours state 10.30p. I still have no idea where the owner/employee went, but with this experience and bad falafel I would not recommend for a dinner with friends. read more

I love this place. We came here on a whim. The owner/cook/waiter was so enthusiastic about his food, and so accommodating, it was incredible. We had two appetizers, one a special Turkish "pizza," one an eggplant salad. The eggplant was smokey and delicious, but the special was amazing...totally the owners invention. The owner brought over a third appetizer (a feta cheese spread) gratis. It was also very good. Three of our group ordered the same special...and eggplant lamb dish with a yogurt mixture in the middle. Everyone was extremely happy. One of us got the Doner Kabob which was as good as any I've ever had. The yogurt dip for it was AMAZING. The owner threw in some extra rice and salads, I think just because we were enjoying everything so much. Dessert was baklava (we were really full), but the owner threw in some incredible chocolate pudding, and some Turkish coffee. It is so rare to find a place where the food is this good and the staff is so happy to see you. I cannot rave about it enough. read more

Really disappointing experience. The feta cheese spread was good but not amazing, the sigara börek was not bad but mostly because they were like those flautas you get from the freezer isle at costco. And the turkish ravioli? ...After apps, I didn't expect the ravioli to be great but it came cold and most of the bits had little to absolutely no lamb in them. I think if you advertise entrees for $20 they should at least meet up to some standard beyond presentation. The servers were nice but pretty negligent too. We were one of two tables there and it took forever for them to bring our drinks and entree, let alone reasonably timed refills on water. There's really no excuse there. I was really excited to come here because a) the good yelp reviews, and b) turkish food is amazing, but it was not worth it and I would never come back or recommend it to others. Maybe it was the lack of a restaurant owner being present.. either way, it's unacceptable. On the brightside, free parking after 6 and the restaurant is decorated nicely. read more

Stopped in to The Turk with no expectations. I love Turkish and Mediterranean food, so I was looking forward to a good meal. The food exceeded my expectations, and the hospitality from the staff was absolutely top notch. We ordered a sampler of the cold appetizers (eggplant spreads 3 ways including baba gannoush, some homemade hummus, and a great yogurt based dip with dill). On pita each one was amazing! The staff came out to explain each item, which was really great despite our familiarity with the cuisine...always love learning how things are made. My date and I both had lamb, and we were both very impressed by the flavor. The sides including the rice were also extremely flavorful, and each item combined with one another to make great bites. Overall we really had a great time - and look forward to coming back. This will now be a solid addition to our rotation of restaurants, especially with the delivery option. read more

Almost every time an order is placed there is an issue and the manager literally blames everyone but the resturant. This has happened on ten different occasions. They take zero responsibility for their horrible customer service and even take it so far as to blame the customer. On multiple occasions they indicated their delivery staff doesn't speak English which causes the delay when they cannot find the house. They also once stated that the delivery was nearly delivered but they had an incident with another customer so the driver had to rush to their house thirty minutes away before coming back to my house. Worst customer service I have ever experienced and as mentioned, I experienced it multiple times. Will not order from them ever again. read more

Ordered take-out on a Sunday afternoon. The restaurant was empty other than one patron. The owner was extremely hospitable. He played music and sang for the kids and then threw in a halva for good measure that wasn't on the menu. Delicious. Better than the Turkish place I used to frequent in the UES of Manhattan. Very authentic, homemade and healthy tasting. Owner & chef was delightful & so nice to my grumpy tween son. The octopus salad was very fresh. The Adana kebabs with bulgar rice was flavorful, not dry and substantial. I shared one order with my daughter. The baklava was fresh and not soggy, which can be typical of some Turkish or Mediterranean restaurants, but this was perfectly flaky & well balanced. I went here a few days ago and really wanted to like the place, but it was so lousy I stopped eating after a few bites, took the meal to go and tossed it. They had a lunch special which included an appetizer and the pricing was reasonable, so I decided to give it a try. I've had Turkish food many times and usually enjoy it. They served a standard bread with olive oil that had mustard drizzled in it (a bit different for me) but it was palatable. Then, I had the Baba ghanoush which wasn't bad either, but the entree that followed was a HOT MESS! I ordered the gyro kebab platter which was literally TASTELESS. It came with rice and and what looked like some tabbouleh that was BEYOND bland. This really threw me because gyro lamb is always flavorful but this tasted like it had been boiled until devoid of seasoning before being sauteed in oil. And the texture was literally like cardboard. The service wasn't the greatest either. Despite having only one other customer inside, they were slow and inattentive and I would normally let the server know how I felt, but I didn't feel comfortable for some reason so I just took the whole thing to go and literally dropped it in the trash as soon as I hit the street. I am not into wasting food and can often repurpose a dish once I get home, but this food was so bad it wasn't fixable. And that's a RARE circumstance for me. I would not give it another try and I would not recommend eating here. read more
