Great place for brunch. The Tejas Benedict is my particular favorite but all of the Benedict dishes are top notch.

First time guest. So we came in several parties; one 6 and one of 15. The manager made accommodations for all of us to sit together on the patio. We had a great time. They made sure we had our food and our that it was the right temperature. The servers were great for our large party which included even more people that were already there. Ice Tea is horrible tasting. The side salad was watery and boring and had no dressing, had to flag down to ask for some dressing and then only got a tiny amount to share between us. The lamb chops were cut so thin I couldn't believe it (maybe 2 oz of meat), nestled in a big blob of white starchy cold couscous with 5 raw green beans. The salmon was a child size portion, also on a cold blob of couscous with 5 raw green beans. My BF's sister chose this place for her celebratory birthday dinner. The ambiance is nice and modern with an open dining area. We arrived before dinner time so the place was a bit empty but did start to fill in towards the end of our dinner service. The waitstaff gave excellent service so the rating is not a reflection of customer service but rather the food all in itself. I had the ribeye steak and my BF ordered the seafood pizza. The steak was terribly bland and a utter disappointment. No relief with the pizza either. In fact the pizza made my BF sick for a week after consumption. His stomach was uneasy followed by bouts of.... Let's just say he wasn't toilet shy. The only savior in was the wine. La Crema, Pinot Gris. I have to say that was hands down the best Pinot Gris I have ever had, which is kind of funny considering it was a twist off bottle. I am a fan of Pinot Gris and have tried a lot of different brands. This one really stuck out. I loved it so much my BF actually bought me a bottle yesterday and I thoroughly enjoyed a glass last night but I digress. We have eaten here several times and like the food, service, and menu choices, but thought the portions were a bit small. We went last night and the new menu options are EVEN BETTER! Everything was delicious and the portions seemed really big. We were very satisfied. I only wish there were more appetizer/small plate options that don't include seafood. First off which I feel is important to mention, the staff was extremely friendly and polite which is very rare these days. I feel like in most restaurants the staff has a tendency to be indifferent to you as a customer. The restaurant itself is very modern and clean looking with very nice table presentations. I frequented this location back when it was a Chinese place, so the change is really well done. The food was a different story. The menu seems to lack a specific identity, and maybe that's why the execution struggles. Me and my family ate there around 5 on a Saturday afternoon, and they were not busy so no excuse there. Here is what we ordered: Chopped Salad - way overpriced at $9, very little substance to it as it was mostly lettuce, very dry with no flavor unless you ate one of the small blue cheese crumbles Farmers Market Salad - again overpriced for what is being served on the plate, the greens were very dry and just like the chopped salad no flavor at all unless you had some goat cheese in the bite, the dressing that had been drizzled was too thick for a salad dressing and had a bitter quality to it Sweet Heat Chicken - again the theme continues with very small portions for what the price is, very little chicken which was flavorless minus the small amount of sauce that was put on the plate, really nothing to say about it other than it was a really poor dish Crab Stuffed Avocado - good idea but just not executed very well at all, the avocado was bland and dry, the presentation was sloppy and crowded on a small plate Kids Meals - the macaroni was good because it was not kraft, but the other two plates were not very good at all Overall the food lacked any sort of appeal on this night. Other reviews have seemed pretty positive, but I did not experience anything that would make me want to go back. My dad and I came in for Saturday brunch. Meh. We both got omelets that were just okay, with some good potatoes on the side (ketchup came out too late, though). To close, we got a stack of pancakes that really messed up the course of the meal - they were definitely cooked using oil that was already used to cook other (savory, no less) dishes. Also, they weren't presented nicely at all, and the toppings were scarce. The waitstaff was seriously trying, offering us water and checking on us way too often...sorry y'all, won't make up for sad pancakes. At first I wasn't to sure about this place seeing as it's a true whole in the wall and it's located next door to a liquor store but I was seated and greeted by a truly amazing server Alexander B when I tell you I have never had better service that is an understatement he was genuine very attentive and made me feel right at home I have a really strict diet and he accommodated all of my needs without one question he was full of suggestions which I love and genuinely cared about how my time was spent there so needless to say I will definitely return again and ask for my favorite new server read more

We had a noon reservation on Mother's Day, we were not seated until 12:30 and only then because I complained. Others were waiting 45 minutes to an hour after their reservation time to be seated. Once we ordered it took an hour for our food to come, and when it did it was cold and not good at all. They clearly overbooked the restaurant, we used to love coming here but will never come back based on this experience. It is a shame that greediness to sell a couple more meals ruined the day for so many people. read more

I had been eyeing this place for a while for brunch. We went on Sunday for my birthday brunch/Father's Day. We were surprisingly seated fast, and the service was pretty fast as well. The portions were a little smaller than I would prefer, but prices weren't as high as expected either. I loved that they do crafts of mimosas, and I got a craft of sangria. The biscuits with biscuits and gravy didn't taste very fresh, and I kind of felt that way about my waffle as well. The bread was a little dry and was probably made before I ordered it. I would definitely go again, but I was still hungry a few hours later. I guess I'll order more food next time. read more

I just have to brag about how awesome the managers, staff and food is-- We have been there a couple times recently (a new found love) and each time the staff is so warm and welcoming. We came with a large party and were given coupons for our next visit from the manager since it was our first time there. Another time they kindly asked us to move to another table and gave us a round of drinks on them-- totally not a big deal but these small gestures set them apart from other restaurants. Went here for the first time for lunch with a friend and I'm impressed. We were seated immediately by the hostess on a Sunday for a late brunch. We had enough time to look at the menu and the server came by and greeted us and got our orders. The atmosphere is very inviting and they also have an outdoors setting area, which looks really nice, but perhaps when Houston weather permits, I would dine outdoors. My friend and I ordered our food and it came out in a timely manner. I got a salmon dish with fruits on the side in the brunch menu and I have to say, it was great! I really enjoyed it and my friend who ordered a crab cake benedict dish or something on the lines of that, she also loved her dish and it looked very good. For the price they charge and the portion they give, I am very satisfied. I look forward to coming again and trying out other stuff. The only complaint I have is while our server was really nice, she only came by once after we got our meals, and she did not check up on us and it took her awhile to come back to pick up the credit card to charge. I understand servers have a lot to do and sometimes they have to juggle multiple tables, but it did take awhile for her to get back to us. I have been here twice now. Both times were for the Brunch on Sunday and both times we got there around 10:30 and were seated immediately. We noticed that it did get pretty crowded after 11:00. After Church crowd maybe? Anyway, we all enjoyed it. Started with the doughnut holes and a mimosa. This time I had the fried chicken and biscuits and the first time I had the "one hot mess". Both were HUGE and delicious. The restaurant itself is nice and the service both times was excellent. The food came quickly and the wait staff kept the mimosa's and water glasses full. In addition, we were not rushed. We took some time with the starters and at the end of the meal to continue our conversation and finish our drinks......no pressure to vacate immediately. Overall a great meal. The four of us ate and drank for $98 plus tip. Not cheap but for us worth it. We will be back again. read more

It is a complete mystery to me how this place averages nearly 4 stars. First, the good. The service was very solid -- quick with drinks and check, nicely suggested we order for the kiddo first, had good suggestions for entrees. It is kid friendly. BUT. The food and the vibe were really bland. The veggie tempura was cold and heavy, like the oil wasn't hot enough, the mushroom pizza was really cheesy (like the crust couldn't support it cheesy) but not very flavorful, and the porcobucco was good, but the veggies were salted within an inch of their lives. It has the atmo of a midlevel hotel restaurant. Basically, it is in the vein of Carrabas without being as tasty. A fancy Macaroni Grill or Cheddar's. Pass. read more

My boyfriend and I came here for restaurant week for dinner. We made reservation online. The restaurant ambience was nice. The bad thing was the tables were cramped up and tight. We got a table in the corner of the restaurant which was next to a window. Service was not so great. The restaurant week dinner menu was $35 per person. $5 was going to the food bank for donation. It was a 3 course meal: appetizer, entree, and dessert. While waiting for appetizer, no bread was served. We saw bread being served at other tables. Maybe it needed to be requested? For appetizer I got the chilled cucumber & honeydew melon soup. It was fresh but it was too sweet and strange. It seemed it didn't pair together well. On the menu it states that garnished with tropical fruit and fresh mint. I got this appetizer because it didn't have bell pepper, I am allergic to bell pepper and it had mango and red bell pepper as the garnish. My tongue started to tingle. My boyfriend got the Thai ceviche. Ahi tuna small diced with coconut milk slightly coated with red onion, cilantro, Thai chili, and very largely sliced cucumber on the side. There was more cucumber than the ahi tuna. For the entree I had the garlic cumin crispy chicken thigh. The chicken was dried it was like chicken jerky. Under the chicken was fava bean hummus and topped with carrot jam. Everything was mushy and the chicken was chewy. My boyfriend got the braised short ribs he really liked it. It was fall of the bone tender. Finally, the dessert my boyfriend couldn't wait for the "flamed" fried ice cream. And I got the vanilla panda cotta. The "Flamed" fried ice cream was disappointing. It was vanilla ice cream in panko crumb. The server brings 1oz of Bacardi in a 2oz cup and pours it over the ice cream and flame it on the spot. It burns until the alcohol burns off the rest of the rum sits on the bottom of the cup. My vanilla panna cotta was okay. Typical chilled Italian custard topped with blueberries and a blueberry sauce. OK, so the Mahi fish tacos...and Sam our waiter, were THE BEST!! I wish there was a location in the Katy area!

Not good! We bought the $45 restaurant week prix fixe and this is what we got: 1) Wedge salad. A little too salty and the bacon bits were overcooked...in my opinion, the bacon should be between crispy and chewy, not hard and crumbly. 2) Prawns and Pork Belly. The pork belly was good, but not great...although there was not much of it, maybe 1 oz? The prawns were bland, which was not recovered by the same overcooked "hard and crunchy" bacon...stop using bacon to coverup a lack of creativity! 3) Steak. Poor quality meat!!! 8oz steak was probably a bit too big for a 3 course meal anyway, so they should just serve a 4-6 oz high quality steak like a tenderloin or new york/ribeye. Instead, it was tendonous, stinky and not even aged! The menu said it was "loin", but I'm sure it was a top round. Finally, the currant port reduction sounded interesting, but failed..it was not a good sauce. Give me a break, you're charging 45 dollars for iceberg lettuce, a bite of decent pork belly, and a 2 dollar steak? Price aside, I wouldn't eat here again even if they paid me. Both my girlfriend and I had stomach cramps after eating, NOT because we were full...trust me, I didn't eat half of it, because it just wasn't good. I tipped the waitor decently because it wasn't his fault, but the kitchen needs an audit. In retrospect, I should have told the manager to eat it himself, because it was definitely not worth a $115 tag for two people! read more

Ordered Paul's Chicken BBQ. Wow, the combo was something I wouldn't have put together: chicken breast on a bed of garlic sautéed spinish. Melted chees, BBQ sauce and bacon topped the chicken. I are every bite. They have a good selection of wines. The place is friendly - I think all the locals go there. Much better service than the Bellaire location. This my and my friends' new Sunday brunch spot. Service is on point. Friendly, conversational waiters. We go there for bottomless mimosas and brunch, and our mimosa glasses are never empty for too long before a a waiter comes by to top them off. The ranchero omelette is amazing! Yummy, juicy and flavorful meat with fresh and zesty salsa...what else could I want in an omelette? I top it off with cholla sauce for an extra kick. The side if potatoes are AMAZING. I just have to say I was there tonight with my kids and unfortunately my kids were not acting right and had spilled their drink. But thankfully we had an awesome server I do believe his name was Derek kind of a big guy tall. And we seen that he was running all over the place and we asked him how many tables he had and he said all of them. I just have to say with as many tables that he's had he did a fabulous job. Our server Mark was very attentive. Excellent service leading me to give him a good tip. Had the spinach and goat cheese pizza and substituted the chicken for prosciutto. Loved it! Also had the Union burger. For a burger, I was rather disappointed. Great presentation, but very average. The $2 extra "truffle fries" were an embarrassment. They initially arrived too fried, which Mark (our server acknowledged), but he replaced them with similarly burnt ones. The huge onion rings were largely tasteless. The dessert plate was totally run of the mill. Would I go back? Maybe. But definitely not for their "flagship" Union Burger though. read more

The last time I was there I had their famous shrimp salad that was very overrated....I was not impressed....shrimp was cooked well but salad very bland. A pleasant surprise! My date took me to Union Kitchen last night. He had dined there on multiple occasions but it was my first time. The ambiance was nice and the hostesses were welcoming. We had the crab cake appetizer and I had the Ribeye. The lemon cake definitely produced smiles. The food was awesome but what impressed me more than anything was the service. Alex was our server and he is one of the best in the business. I dine out about 3 times a week and I can't recall having service that good in a long time. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and his recommendations were great. He ensured that our table was free of clutter and our glasses never got empty. The manager was friendly and came by to make sure that we enjoyed our dining experience. I would give this place 10 stars on the service alone. read more

I've been wanting to check this place out since it's in our area. However I was quite disappointed with them today. We showed up at 10:30am for Sunday brunch. The restaurant had maybe 3 other parties already seated and the rest of the restaurant was empty. We asked for a table for 7 and the hostess asked if we made any reservation (we did not). Then she stated there were no available tables till 1pm. Offered no explanation since it was very obvious that the restaurant was empty. However, after leaving I checked open table and was able to make reservations for 10:45, 11, 11:15, 11:30am for our party size. Given there could be an valid explanation, but the tone we received was very snobby. Thanks but no thanks. We will take our business elsewhere. read more
