The Uprooted Kitchen counter, display case and kitchen
    Aimee K.

The Uprooted Kitchen offers so many delicious vegan and vegetarian dishes it's difficult to choose every time I'm there! Someone asked me today what I've tried there and the list was too long I had to pull up the menu to remember all of my favorites. For my latest visit, I tried a few new things and I wasn't disappointed! Buffalo Cauliflower Chickpea Burger, Smashed Roasted Potato and a Cold Turmeric Matcha. All of the dishes were vegan and so was my drink. Everything was so tasty as always! Chad is always remembers me even when I haven't been in for a while and is always smiling! Chef Erin is always busy in the kitchen pouring her heart into the food she prepares for all of her appreciative dining fans. They have open seating available on their family style tables for inside dining by the display case and patio seating outside for those wanting a little bit of sun outside of the Barnone building at Agritopia in Gilbert. Convenient parking is plentiful and all around the complex so it's so easy to get to them but admittedly gets quite crowded on the weekends. For those that have a sweet tooth they offer some wonderful treats that are healthier for you while also being indulgently delicious. For those that have to go gluten free, they do have some delicious items to choose from here. Stop in for a bite and discover all the wonderful things they have to offer!

If I could bottle up the feeling of comfort and nourishment, it would taste exactly like the food (especially soups) at Uprooted Kitchen. Their weekly specials are always creative, fresh, and somehow exactly what my body needs that week. The desserts are indulgent without being a sugar crash trap! They feel like a treat and a good decision. The owners make the space feel like home. You're greeted like a friend, not just a customer. It's casual seating inside of Barnone at Agritopia, which is always a fun location to walk around. Wholesome, plant-based goodness all around!

After seeing the reviews I was hoping for better but I was very disappointed. When I first moved to the area a new friend invited me out to try some vegan food. Everyone raved about the Uprooted Kitchen & I was very excited to try. I'm sad to say that I was very happy. The service was fine but my salad tasted weird. It had way too much going on & no flavor at the same time. The seeds didn't help. This is just not for me.

Pros: good food, friendly staff, fun location (close to other restaurants, coffee shops, and the Beer Barn) Cons: me going into this meal with very high expectations of the breakfast sandwich. People raved about the breakfast sandwich on Yelp, and while it was good, it wasn't outstanding IMO.

Delicious healthy food!! If you are looking for Vegan or Vegetarian spot this is the place! Located inside of Barnone. They have indoor and outdoor seating areas. I have been wanting to try this place for awhile based off of the reviews. They have a wide selections to choose from. Service was definitely five stars!! Unfortunately for me, I'm allergic to tree nuts and many items had nuts. The owners Erin and Chad were super accommodating about my allergies and added in different ingredients to my order for substitutions when items contained nuts. They are super creative with their dishes and they definitely know how to make healthy food taste good!! I would definitely recommend this place and will come back to try other items on the menu. Thank you Erin and Chad!!

Amazing food and ambience. This is in agritopia of Gilbert, quaint little restaurant. Food is very delicious. Amazing people here very community oriented. If you are vegan, you should definitely try here.

First time customer, I ordered the Buffalo Cauliflower Buckwheat Tacos and Roasted Sweet Potato Fries. The meal was very tasty, satisfying and healthy. Enjoyed my conversation with Chad to learn how he and his wife Erin came to be plant-based restauranteurs. Will be back for more!

Yes, I drove 2.25 hours to eat here, and yes I did have other business in the Phoenix area that day. But my first stop was The Uprooted Kitchen and my meal here left me hungering for the next opportunity to make the journey. I was fortunate enough to be there when the Thanksgiving Naan-wich was on special. I cannot get over how fabulous the housemade quinoa and oat naan was, and the holiday fillings were a real treat. Speaking of treats, the Chocolate Tart was incredible and it, alone, would have been worth every mile of that trip.

Food is ALWAYS delicious, consistent with flavor and plentiful. Service, always a good greeting and meal suggestions. Choice of indoor/outdoor dining with quiet surroundings and space.

Full of flavor and way better than I expected. The bacon mac and cheese was also fantastic. It was rich and creamy. Not too busy of a shopping area so parking was easy. I walked inside and a staff member asked if I was picking up, and had my food ready to go. I didn't ask for utensils and thankfully they didn't give me any. They do have them available on the side if needed. I liked that they had free stickers so I took two. It wasn't busy when I stopped by, just one couple dining in, but they had a few bags for takeout so that seems to keep them busy. Ambiance was nice with good amount of seating. I decided to have lunch in the nearby preserve and I enjoyed my food. I ordered the chickn sandwich, buffalo style, with a side of fries. The sandwich was delicious! Loved the flavors and it was filling. I'm glad I got it Buffalo style because the spiciness was great. The fries tasted good but were soft rather than crispy, which is what I prefer. I also got a side of cheez sauce ($2) which was pricey considering the size, and it didn't taste like cheese or anything similar. I would pass on this in the future. I ordered their Brussels sprouts which came with a side of tahini sauce, but they were salty and yummy so the sauce wasn't necessary imo. Overall I love vegan food and I wish there were more restaurants that serve it. This spot is solid and I'd come back to try other menu items and support them.

The Sign with the hours of operation were posted and stated they should have been open. I went back to my car and called the phone number on the app, which was a recording. I left a message with my phone number for them to call me. The next day I received a text that said my money was refunded which it was, everything but the tip I had left. I never received a call from them, no acknowledgment at all as to why they were closed and why they kept the tip. I am in the F&B business and no, they could have refunded the total amount that was charged to my card, but they decided to keep the tip. Pretty disappointing and unethical. Edit: I appreciate the response from Nana's kitchen, but it was not just a "bank processing delay" I left my phone number on the recording and asked for a call back, which I never got, had that happened I would not have had to leave review. The setup works especially well for groups since there's plenty of seating and the ordering process keeps things moving even when it's busy. One thing they do very well is efficiency without losing hospitality. They have both a dine-in ordering counter and a dedicated to-go counter, which seems necessary because this place stays packed. Even during busy times, the staff stays friendly, attentive, and organized. You can tell there's real attention paid to each order and that management understands how to run a smooth restaurant operation. The menu has a lot of solid choices whether you want something lighter, comforting, vegetarian, or protein-packed. My only real note is that pricing feels a little high for an order-at-the-counter style restaurant. The restaurant offers a variety of seating options: outside patio, high-top outdoor seating, inside bar seating, and traditional indoor dining. We arrived in that sweet spot between lunch and happy hour, so the restaurant was quiet and relaxed, exactly how we like it. Drinks My Blue Hawaiian ($15) was absolutely amazing, it really hit the spot, and I was still feeling great when we left! My husband ordered the Pizza Port Chronic ($5) and said it was a nice, refreshing change of pace. Our Server Andrew Andrew greeted us immediately, walked us through both the food and drink menus, and was genuinely knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He was the highlight of our visit. Exceptional service. Appetizer Butter Board & Bread We started with the Butter Board ($14), served with toasted bread. The butter itself, whipped with ricotta, herbs, and what I believe was a honey drizzle, was absolutely delicious. My only note is that the bread edges were toasted a bit too dark for my taste, leaving a slightly burnt crust flavor and aroma. Entrées I ordered the Seared Scallops ($48), which were plated with white potatoes, purple potatoes (possibly ube), and sausage over a rich sauce. Unfortunately, the purple potatoes had a burnt taste that was off-putting, and I wasn't able to finish much of my meal. My husband, on the other hand, thoroughly enjoyed his Grilled Striped Bass ($48), beautifully plated and well-executed. Final Thoughts While my entree missed the mark this visit, Andrew's outstanding service and the overall ambience more than carried the experience. The space is gorgeous, the concept is lovely, and I can absolutely see returning when the seasonal menu refreshes. In my opinion, it's worth a second chance, we will be back.
