This place is not closed. Arrived there on Saturday, June 21st for a quick bite prior to heading out on our next venture. We ate in the lounge as it revolves and we can enjoy the scenery. What a rip-off! If you don't read another word, that's all you need to know. If you read my other reviews, you're be hard pressed to find a one-star rating. But my experience in this tourist trap is more of a warning to potential visitors - DON'T GO! We got there by 10pm and ordered a meat charcuterie board and a cheese plate. No exaggeration - one plate had four pieces of cheese and three crackers, one plate had THREE slices of a deli cut (exactly as you would find in a package from Shoprite) and a couple of crackers. It was embarrassing to look at, much less to eat. Oh yeah, $28 for the pleasure. To add insult to injury the moron server was hovering over us at LEAST a dozen times asking us if it's ok to remove the plates. I was P.O.'d to say the very least. It was rude, pushy, disgusting! I mean, we had a destination credit, so why not use it here. I believe we showed up around when they open, so there wasn't really a wait. We were seated facing the window a row back so were able to enjoy the view without being right up against the windows. With the rotating aspect, it could be a little discombobulating. We all did one round only. We were heading to another cocktail bar later, so this was just a quick stop. Since we drink all night while on vacay, I always want something light for the first meal of the day. That ended up being the popstar. It sounded light and refreshing. Unfortunately for me, it was just too sweet. No balance at all. It just tasted like syrup with a splash of vodka and bubbles. It just was not something I liked at all. Food wise, the seafood tower was fun. I'm a huge seafood lover, so I often look for seafood happy hours. Of course, there is no HH pricing here, but it was a good way to try a variety of things. A revolving restaurant is kind of old school. This one sits atop the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square and surely first opened in the 20th century. It was recently taken over by renowned restauranteur Danny Meyer's Union Square Hospitality Group, so I gave it a try. While the food was decent, the view was meh on a cloudy day. To get to the View, you are guided to a special elevator from the 3rd floor of the hotel. You are dropped off on the 48th floor, which is the Lounge, which serves small bites along with drinks. The restaurant is on the 47th floor, down another elevator or a staircase. The restaurant revolves quite slowly; it takes about 90 minutes for a full rotation. While you see the tops of many mid-town buildings, you don't see down to Times Square itself, nor did I see the Empire State Building. I suppose sunset and/or evening lights would be more impressive. There is a live pianist. The menu is fairly traditional steakhouse fare. I started with the fried artichokes with garlic aioli, which were pretty good, albeit a bit greasy. Note the only "bread" you are given are a few cheesy breadsticks. My entree choice was the roast chicken with a warm green bean and bread salad and mustard jus. Tasty, but very messily plated. There were maybe 2 pieces of bread. For sides, I always get creamed spinach, which was fine, as were the potatoes au gratin. Dessert was a very good cherries jubilee sundae. Caesar salad was ok, pizza was ok, (can u mess up pizza tho?) ribeye steaks were chewy, both MR and MW, and tasteless other than sauce poured on top, the server never came back to ask it everything was good, except the time to give us a check, the greeting person was nice though. We planned our visit here after a Broadway show. As locals, we chose this after a news spotlight with the executive chef. Sadly the service and food were disappointing. A casual dining experience with a view. At $250/ person we expected to have dishes with some executive chef flair. We had the lamb and filet mignon for entree. The food and presentation lacked the fine dining aspect we were hoping for. Service was absent as well. We were greeted at the lounge for a cocktail ahead of our dinner reservation. We waiting 30 minutes to order drinks and after another 15 minutes, we left and cancelled in order to head down for dinner. The staff at the restaurant was also unenthusiastic and inattentive. My friend mentioned this place recently reopened so we went to check it out. Nice experience when going as it is on a different floor from the hotel. You take an elevator up and it shows a lot of the inside of the hotel which looks cool. Once at the restaurant we were seated right away since we made reservations prior. My group and me stopped into the Marriott just looking for a drink and stumbling into the view. It's a chic and modern looking dining experience, that is in a rotating room. It gives a great view of the city and the apps are amazing. It is a little slow but the wait is great if you're just hanging for dinner and drinks. We went to celebrate a milestone birthday and was looking forward to be able to do that at The View, a Danny Meyer Restaurant in the Marriott Marquis. Instead, my wife bit down on a shard of glass in her salad, which caused her mouth to bleed as a result. We told our server about this, and she called the manager over to our table. He apologized profusely, offered to take off the charges for the meal, and said management would be following up. We waited a week for the follow up from management. Finally, my wife called The View, and had a discussion with Bryan Camacho, the General Manager of the View. He said how sorry he was that my wife had her mouth cut by glass, and invited us to have another meal as their guest in order to give The View another chance. He said he would email his offer later that day. No email arrived that day. Or the next. Or the one after that. My wife called again and left a voicemail including her email address in case he misplaced it. After another day passed without hearing from the restaurant, I reached out again to Mr. Camacho. This was a last minute booking before a Broadway show. Although a little dated to me, I liked the decor. Loved the rotating views. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Although the menu was limited, the selection was decent. The small bites were tasty and I enjoyed them. Oysters, seafood cocktail, and a salad. The mixed drinks were good as well. Going in , thought the rotation was a bit gimmicky, but it's actually a great way to get multiple views of the city and the different parts of the restaurant. And while the views are great, to food is exceptional! Lots of classic American dishes done to perfection. The Cesar Salad and Shrimp cocktail are among the best I've ever had, and the lamb chop and the steak were also outstanding! Cocktails are all great, especially the magnolia bread pudding inspired one, which is definitely a dessert cocktail. The wait staff are also super attentive and offered great recommendations. The prime was too fatty, nearly 1/3 of the cut had white fat that you can't consume since it is so heavy. It cost $70 it didn't come with complimenary sides like other eating establishments provide so I was very disappointed. I did enjoy the view and I like how it rotates! Angie was the lovely hostess at the mezzanine level I engaged with before taking the elevator up to the 48th floor. Her wonderful hospitality and positive attitude is the reason I will give this place another chance in the future. My friend, her husband and I made a reservation to celebrate my best friend's birthday recently. The funny thing is that at the time of reservation for menu preference there was a question asked the kind of menu We would like to have? A note was added Not gluten, vegan and vegetarian. We arrived to the restaurant and the menu was limited to options. Not vegan at all. We waited for 40 min. for our food and it was fine but sadly the food was salty and while I was trying to eat a hair was in the pasta that I tried to remove it from my mouth discreetly. I did not say anything because I did not want to ruin my friend's gathering. The food also was not worth it at all and for those that are vegan or vegetarians this place is not the best option. My wife and I stayed at the Marriott Marquis for our 10 year anniversary, and booked our dinner here for 5:00, because we had tickets to Stranger Things (also at the hotel), at 7:00. We were waiting for an hour and a half for our food, and realized we might miss our show if it didn't come right away, after flagging down our waiter, who we barely saw in that hour and a half because he was too busy flirting with the guys at the table behind us, he said he'd go check the kitchen. He came back, said nothing to us, and continued flirting with the men at the other table! We told the maitre de, that even if the food came right now we'd have no time to eat. She said she would have the kitchen pack it to go and not charge us. So, we ate our 10 year anniversary dinner in about 3 minutes while standing up in our hotel room, trying to get ready for our show. This is beyond unacceptable, and ruined what should have been a great night. Also, you have to check in with three different people to be seated. Dumb setup. I ordered the Lobster Spaghetti "Alla Chitarra," and it was outstanding: perfectly cooked pasta with a rich, savory depth and generous lobster throughout that made every bite feel luxurious. I paired it with the Chinon, which was an excellent choice -- smooth, earthy, and beautifully balanced. For dessert, the Banana Oat Sundae was the perfect finish: comforting, creative, and not overly sweet. Great service, great energy, and an unforgettable NYC dining moment. While the view of the city was likely more enjoyable by tourists, it was very cool to rotate the view as we had dinner. However, service was severely unenthusiastic and staff were not attentive to the tables. It was 30 minutes before we were greeted and finally ordered cocktails. Well the view is good....Regrettably the rest was fair. Service was slow. We probably would have ordered another round or two of drinks had the check-backs been more prompt. The tartare was decent but the sunchoke chips are not sufficient to place bites of beef. Entrees took forever and the end cut prime rib was so rare I can only imagine what the rest of the rib looked like. The seasoning was weak. Given this is the highlighted menu item and the most expensive entree, I expected it to be a little more than ordinary. Cheesecake and butterscotch pudding were good. This iconic revolving restaurant on top of the Marriott Marquis Hotel recently reopened after having been closed for five years, and they have returned with a bang-up menu. We snagged a sunset table on the Notify waitlist for dinner before a Broadway show, and while we expected the view to be great (don't miss the people walking on The Edge) as it made its hour-long turn around the city, we were so delighted with the quality of the food. We shared the beef tartare, the fried artichokes (hard to find!), the hearts of palm salad, and the picanha (a South American cut with a fat cap that ensures juiciness). The vibe here is celebratory (no birthday songs tho, happily) and it's so pleasant to be surrounded by happy people. Extra thanks to the chef who makes the scrumptious homemade breadsticks that come with the drinks. We loved it all! read more

Lovely place, great food, service and wine. Not crazy expensive. If you plan on having a cocktail at the lounge downstairs make sure you check if there are seats at the bar, it's really nice but only seats 10 otherwise you'll be seated at one of the small private tables with a server. Nice but I'd prefer the bar. read more
