Whenever we've gone to the plaza where The Whiskey is located, it is always busy and sometimes people are waiting for a table or place at the bar. It's a lively place, especially during happy hour, peak dining times, and weekends. During week days, they have live music playing. We went a little before 5 PM on a week day. The restaurant is one of those "sit anywhere you want" places, with a mix of high tables, booths, and bar seating. We grabbed a booth that was toward the front of the restaurant. The interior has a very moody, dive-bar feel and my mom commented it reminded her of the hole-in-the-wall bars she used to visit when she was younger. As the name implies, they are known for the whiskey offerings and they have an extensive menu of options to try in a variety of price points. They do serve beer and wine as well in terms of other drink options, as well as a few cocktails. In addition to whiskey, the restaurant has won awards for their burgers. We all ordered burgers with their fries and I asked to try their house made hot sauce on the side. Burgers took 10-12 minutes and they corrected my mom's when it came out with cheese by mistake. (The redo took a minute max.) The meat blend they use makes for a juicy, tender burger with a lot of flavor - practically melts in your mouth. The house-made hot sauce has a tang to it and the heat builds gradually. Fries were hot and perfectly crispy. We were all pleased with the burgers and agreed there's a reason why they won those awards for best burger. Pricing is pretty fair for the burgers - these are top notch and can't be compared to burgers from your standard quick service place. Depending on when you go, parking can be a challenge. If you're parking close, you might get lucky or will need to find a spot closer to Moge Tea and the Pinch a Penny place, then walk over. But we've been fortunate to find a spot when we went. read more

Spent the weekend in Orlando for my birthday. I wanted to stay away from the mouse fans for dinner and found The Whiskey on Yelp!! Walked in and was seated at a booth against the wall. I wasn't sure what to drink, and found a Pirate Old Fashioned with Kraken spiced rum and Traverse City cherry whiskey. If you're like me and don't know whiskey, this is a good start! I ordered the fried mushrooms, which were so good. They were served with ranch - not my fave - but a good remoulade would have been good with them. I also had the pulled pork tacos, minus cheese of course. They were fabulous and just a touch of heat with julienned jalapeños. My husband had the All American burger - didn't get a pic of it, but it was gone fast so I'd say it was a hit. Service was great l! I don't remember the servers name but he was good. We left about 9:30 after eating and they had a bit of a waitlist at that time. Visited here a while in town. On the strength of y'all previews. It's a small bar nothing special. I sat at the bar. Ordered a drink and an appetizer. I knew my drink wasn't going to be anything special when I watch the guy measure out the smallest shot for a cocktail that I've ever seen. And sure enough my margarita was not impressive at all. First of all it was made in a drink glass, so it was already too much mix, but with the small shot of tequila that was added, it really wasn't worth the price tag. Fortunately, the ahi tuna was delicious. Would I come back? If I were with some whiskey drinkers who wanted to stop in yes, but I wouldn't seek this place out the next time I'm in town. We arrived around 7:10 PM and were seated promptly, which was the best part of the evening. Unfortunately, the service went downhill from there. It took a very long time for our waitress to even come take our drink order. When she finally did, I told her we were ready to order. She took my husband's drink order and our appetizer order, then walked away without taking our entrée order. She never once checked back on us. Someone else eventually brought out our appetizer, and it wasn't until we had completely finished it that she came to take our entrée order. Later, tables that were seated around us were already getting their food who ordered around the same time as us. At 8:05, the waitress told us our burgers were "coming out now." They didn't arrive until 8:28, and when they did, they were wrong. At that point, we were done. I told her we just wanted boxes and the check. While she kept apologizing, her tone felt condescending, and it was clear she didn't genuinely care about the experience. That was especially disappointing because this restaurant came highly recommended to me by an employees spouse, and we were genuinely excited to try it. Sadly, the poor service completely ruined the experience and left a bad taste in our mouths. We won't be returning, and we'll be sure to let others know about the lack of service here. read more

The good: Great Whiskey selection if you're looking to try a few new things! They have a very Interesting menu with a lot to choose from. The mid: The prices however, are much higher than you would expect from a burger place. But I understand that things (especially now and days) are more expensive. It's just not my cup of tea. Example: We spent $50+ each. Two entres, one cocktail and one beer. A $100+ total for two. Not including the tip. The bad: The service was just okay, it was very transactional. Almost like going to a quick dine, a drive through or even a dive bar (nothing wrong with being a dive bar... if you had dive bar prices). I would understand if they were busy, however, the establishment wasn't busy when we went (there were maybe 8 guests inside). I was back in Orlando, and this time brought the family to eat since the food and service were so good last time. I came with my mom, husband, and two kids. It was a Friday night so we came early before 6pm. We figured we could avoid the rush and also not have our young kids out at a bar type restaurant late. Our experience this time around was unfortunately so much different. Our waitress was very unaccommodating from the moment she greeted us, telling us we had to squeeze 5 people at a table for four or sit a high top. So we squeezed. I knew there was no kids menu, but people have mentioned in other reviews that they do offer kids items but they just aren't listed. That is not the case. They have no kids options and won't accommodate in any way. That is fine, but the way she delivered the news was just rude. We could tell she was not happy yo have us there. In fact, I considered telling my family that we should just leave, but we stuck it out because the food was so good. However, the food was not as delicious this time around. We got the banging shrimp again, which was still awesome. But my husband ordered the Whiskey Dip again; this time it fell short. I ordered a burger, having read some great reviews about them, but I was disappointed. I found it dry and just okay. I will say my onion rings were good. My mother's chicken fingers were fine. My wife and I are locals and have enjoyed the Whiskey experience for years. We have frequented for the wonderful burgers and tasty cocktails amongst the casual vibe which makes it unique. Have always tipped the hat for the service staff as we almost always sit at the bar. What happened this evening absolutely astounds me in my 43 years of being in the food and beverage industry. I ordered a "Boulevadier" as one of the signature cocktails as I was thrilled to see that Whistle Pig was listed as the Bourbon in it's published menu recipe on line. When the waitress checked back to ask if I wanted another I declined and said it was less than what I was expecting. I asked her if she used Whistle Pig and she said she used the Maker's Mark Black Walnut. ??? Bottom line, she used Makers Mark and I was charged for Whistle Pig Black Walnut which was a $4.25 + add on. When I inquired about the check being misrepresented and ask for it to be corrected to the original $14.00 not $18.25 I encountered something which I have never experienced. I was told by this bartender (Scott)... " Well you drank it didn't you ?" I'm a pretty good taster of many things but not endowed enough to discern a cocktail marred with excess vermouth. He then went on with logic that If I ordered a burger then I would pay for a burger. Agreed. But if I ordered a burger from the menu I wouldn't expect to pay for Waygu upgrade. Ridiculous ! We were lured into trying it due to their game meat burger selection and ample cocktail options. Our server was quick, friendly, and patient, taking the time to walk us through the menu and setting the expectations for the meal. She even asked us to cut into our burger to check that the meat was cooked to the desired temperature as she brought them out. We shared some cheese curds for the table while we waiter for our burgers. Light batter, well seasoned, and a light marinara to dip in. No complains there! We all went for the Camel burger. When was the last time you tried camel meat in Orlando? Couldn't pass on that chance! The burger was cooked medium-rare, super lean, juicy, well seasoned, and was a generous portion. It came with a light spread of hummus, cheese, tomatoes, caramelized onions, and a side of fries. The fries had a light coating that made them super crispy yet meaty and all-in-all, this was a great meal. I paired my meal with a whiskey-based cocktail -- The Devereaux. Quite refreshing. This place can get busy, and they don't do reservations, so plan ahead and accordingly! The staff are awesome and I am obsessed with the service during a busy time! Cheese Curds $13.00 White Cheddar cheese curds, breaded and fried, served with side of house marinara or ranch. These are a MUST to order and enjoy! These are some of the best damn cheese curds I've had! These are so good. I'm from the Midwest and we know good cheese curds. The Burger, why we came! The Lassahn $16.00 House Patty, Arugula, Tomato, Cheddar Cheese, Smoked Applewood Bacon. My son is a burger connoisseur and he said this is top tier!! The burger was perfectly seasoned and juicy. The temperature was perfect! They cook to your liking. I understand why this place is voted for best burger. You just have to try for yourself. To be honest all of the food I saw come from the kitchen looked amazing. During the late evenings there is live music. When there isn't live music, they have good music playing. I have to say I'm really disappointed in tonight's meal- seating was great, the staff here is so nice however I can't EAT anything here that's a burger and it honestly sucks. I came last year and I had the best burger of my life and now both the house brioche bun has egg and their gluten-free bun has egg; this is ridiculous. So I can't do ANY of their burgers; which is what I wanted. I had her check on the wings and their tacos oh but guess again- they're tacos have egg in the tortilla- like what?! Plus I can only do the buffalo sauce for their wings because BOTH BBQS have dairy. I'm so disappointed and truly upset because the burger I had was delicious last year.. For drink this evening I got the Motley Cue-Cumber drink which is really delicious. However I'm so upset over not being able to EAT ANYTHING; I've lost my appetite. They literally will charge you a salad because they don't have any gluten-free options which is a little ridiculous. it's 2024 and you don't even have a designated deep fryer for french fries. so instead, they up charged you like five dollars for a tiny little Caesar salad, which is pretty silly. The gluten-free buns pretty much disintegrate as soon as it comes to the table. It's literally overpriced burgers. Been here a couple times, and the last time I came was on a Mother's Day, which didn't have much crowd. Thus, I was able to walk in and get seated immediately. Since I was trying to avoid beef, I ordered the Salmon burger. The salmon burger was a fillet, and tasted fresh. It came with a cilantro aioli sauce which complemented the burger well. The arugula and tomato was also fresh. The fries were nothing special, but good enough as a side. I also ordered the old fashioned for my drink. It was a good drink, but could have been stronger as I felt the alcohol was light. When I arrived previous times, I did try the beef burgers. The beef could have been a bit juicer, but it was still delicious and flavorful. I usually sit in the bar area, so service is pretty attentive and friendly. The atmosphere is pretty casual, and they are occasionally live music. The last time I went, there was a musician mostly playing rock and roll oldies. The piped music is normally hard rock, which is a little too wild for me. But when it gets crowded, I find the noise of the crowd to be better than the hard rock music. Seating is a it limited, so there can be a wait when it gets crowded. Sometimes 45 minutes to an hour. The Whisky is located in The Fountains complex at Dr. Phillips. I do enjoy seeing the large fountain when I enter it. Parking can be tough during the weekend evenings. But if you park closer to the drug store, then more parking space should be available and you can walk to the restaurant. The Whisky is a good joint if you enjoy burgers. It is not limited to just beef as you can also have bison, chicken, and salmon. There is the impossible burger as an option for vegetarians as well as exotic meats burgers like camel and elk. The service is fast and friendly, and the live music adds some entertainment. It is one of my go to spots for good burgers near the Dr. Phillips area. read more

Went here for a surprise bday dinner since my friend wanted to try their salty pear burger. They don't accept reservations so we had to get there about an hour early to reserve our tables that we wanted for about 9 of us. The environment was dark and loud, I wasn't expecting that but it's a bar so i should've known. After 9:30 they had a band that came and they turned off the little lighting they did have. Let's start with the service. We had to constantly wave down our server to place an order, napkins, drinks and check. So I would rate the service 3 out of 10. The drinks were good I know a guests in party tried to have certain whiskey and they were out. He also tried to order the camel burger which they were out of unfortunately. Their appetizers were the best part of it all. From the fried pickles (first time having them and they were good and salty) the whiskey chips were delicious as well. So we're the s&s waffle fries. The burgers were okay in my opinion as I have had many burgers. I ordered the southern burger since I love fried green tomatoes i substitute the pimento cheese for smoke Gouda. Love this little, tucked away space. In the middle of Restaurant Row, far too easy to overlook, but I LOVE the selection of spirits here. I'm a Whiskey, Neat sort of girl, and the bartenders never bay an eye- in fact, I've had a glass of just a large ice globe to to side to appreciate the qualities of the whiskey that open up when chilled. Found this place our first night in Orlando and instantly connected with the bartenders - Travis and Jessie. Food was amazing. Service was fantastic. Music was great. They do have live bands come in (which is too loud for us), but is a cool experience if you sit outside. I had a burger and fries the first night and their Whiskey Nachos the second night we went. Both were amazing. Try their bartender created drinks or ask Travis or Ricky for their recommendations - both gave us a great experience!! 10/10 will return if we ever come back to Orlando. read more
