We came across this shop while driving around late at night after a movie. And boy and I glad I did!! What a hidden gem! It's a combination of a bookstore, bar and you can get some small bites. I went on a Saturday and it was busy with only one person working. She was a rockstar- she got all orders done quickly. We ordered the Spanish Gin & Tonic, Whiskey Sour, and Hot Toddy. If you're looking for a great late-night spot to write / study / think, their patio is magical! Been coming here every night after my child went to bed to crank out that painful last chapter of my dissertation surrounded by dim lights and conversations and laughter from the tables around me. The patio isn't super busy in the late evenings, but not empty either, just right. This is a renovated house turned into a wine/beer/drink bar filled with books for purchase or to "check out" and read in store. They have a nice little patio and back yard area for outdoor seating, and limited seating inside but enough space that it doesn't feel crowded. My partner and I ordered to ciders that were surprisingly pretty good. I was overall very impressed and will definitely be back. Wow. Blown away! Words to describe: Rustic. Original. Comfortable. A place to hide and get away. From the creaking floor, to the old wooden bar you'd think you were in a movie set. If you're a seasoned coffee drinker I ordered the Cortado, 2 shots of espresso with steamed milk...very strong and warm! My friend got a vanilla sage latte (the seasonal latte at the time). The presentation of the drinks was great and the overall atmosphere makes you want to take your laptop or book and stay in there all day long. Came here today for the first time to browse books and get a coffee to go. The book selection is really small, was definitely expecting more titles and genres. So many hard cover books, which was disappointing (paperbacks are just easier to travel with and are way less expensive). Bartender was rude to us. Seems to be a trend here. I have fallen in love with Bishop Arts and the aesthetics of this neighborhood. It's truly a beauty! The coffee shop is a great place to meet a friend, study or just look around if you have time! The cafe serves not only your coffee, pastries and teas but also has your draft beers or you can be classy and grab a glass of wine! They also have sandwiches and other small snacks to have. I'm not a huge fan of the sandwiches but then again it's not their signature. The staff is quite great but normally was only one person working there so sometimes it can take awhile to get your things especially if they are busy. We arrived around 10:30pm, n they were supposed to close at 11. There were about 8-9 other people besides us, so we decided to stay for as long as we r not the last ones to leave, or until they kick us out. Surprisingly, the only barista/bartender/server/manager was in no rush to close the place even when it was past 11pm. He was nice n pretty friendly. N just the fact that we did not feel even a bit rushed to get out of there, n were able to stay wayyyyy past the closing time, that's a huge plus! I had an almond milk latte. There was no sugar or syrup added to it. The drink has just a hint of sweetness n the coffee was very flavorful. My guy ordered a Cortado, an avocado tosta and a prosciutto tosta. Both the tostas were good. He had to add a little bit of sugar to the Cortado, but it's never meant to have any sugar or be sweet at all to start with. The place is not that big, but if u can find some good seats to enjoy the company, have some good talk, or pick out a book from their selection, it's a perfect place that offers a little bit of everything to everyone. read more

We asked for the wifi password, and were shocked to hear that this coffee shop deliberately disables their internet connection on weekends. I have been here a handful of times over our many visits to the Bishop Arts District. Our last visit was a little amusing. We had just gone out to eat at the Dallas Grilled Cheese Co. just down the street. I had a doggie bag with me, because I couldn't finish eating my meal. We walked into the store and I was immediately spotted and someone shouted, "No outside food or drinks!" I looked like a deer caught in the headlights and I explained that it was my leftovers from dinner. I was allowed to stay. I ordered the cortado and enjoyed every last sip. In fact, those sips made me go searching for the bathroom. When I found it, I was so grossed out, that I couldnt even force myself to go inside. Seems like they transformed a house into a coffee shop which was really neat. All the baristas there are super kind. The lighting in there is very warm and there is a lot of books around to look at or to purchase. Not sure if it would be a good place to study at because it could get a little loud with the bar making drinks and people talking but it is a great place to go catch up with an old friend or just have a nice coffee date :) I forgot what drinks I got.. I was so excited to check this place out! I believe in supporting independent book shops. When I went though it was closed even though on its website and on Yelp it was supposed to be open. The backyard looked super cool as well. I went back another day and purchased a book and was actually surprised by the attitude of the bartender. Everyone in Texas has been so nice! This place gets five stars for the environment! This is what the world needs in a coffee shop. Cozy, adorable, home-like environment, multiple tables and nooks, dimmer lighting, bookstore. We ordered regular hot coffees in mugs, so I can't speak for other things. However, what we did get tasted nice. You can come here for studying or just to chill and chat with friends .
