The Woolworth restaurant was a nice experience. Though they do have a nice cocktail bar I unfortunately didn't try it on this occasion. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice and the service was friendly and professional. The food, to be honest, I found lacking. While the prices were actually quite good, compared to what I'm used to in California or Hawaii, the quality was not what I'd expect it to be in a restaurant as nice as this one. The calamari was tender but soggy and the flavors seemed a bit confused (southern/cajun type seasoning in the breading, olive oil and balsamic glaze on the plate, served with a side of sweet and sour sauce). The port flatiron was way overcooked and dry. The "basque" cheesecake was tasty but was not a true basque cheesecake. It seemed more like an undercooked regular cheesecake that they then torched the top of to give it that burnt look. Overall nice for ambiance and cocktails but the food needs a lot of work. We came on a Friday night and was able to grab two seats at the bar. First and foremost the bar seats were comfortable The bartenders were kind and very welcoming. We had to start with appetizers so, I chose the crab nachos and let me tell you they were absolutely delicious the tarro root chips were an unexpected great surprise that enhanced the dish. All the fresh ingredients worked well together. We also had some type of spring roll, while also tasty they weren't as memorable as the crab nachos. For an entreé I went with zoodles and added shrimp, it was a very solid and best of all no pasta guilt My colleague opted for the lamb chops and really enjoyed them. This was a really good experience. I stopped here for a bite with some folks from work. We sat on the balcony outdoors and it was a really nice environment. The noise was reduced and it was nice to look out on the downtown street area. I ordered a Lobster Grilled Cheese - I typically am not one to order grilled cheese, but this seemed interesting - and it was tasty, it paired nicely with a local beer. We made reservations for dinner on a Wednesday evening and did not regret it . We parked valet , which I highly recommend . Love the ambiance as well. Located on a 2nd story with views of The Eye. Our waitress, Yanliet, was very sweet and gave good recommendations. We started out with the crab nachos which are very good . For entrees , we got the hangar steak and filet and lobster Mac with wild mushrooms for sides. **GLUTEN FREE FRIENDLY** I just needed to put that out front to give others like us who are afraid to try new restaurants due to gluten allergies/Celiac, know that The Woolworth is a great option. We celebrated our 16th anniversary with dinner here last night. First, we have to give a huge compliment to our server, Annie. She provided excellence service and conversation throughout the night and was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and what was gluten free or could be modified to be gluten free. Everything we ate was delicious and we would order again. The crab nachos were amazing. I actually considered ordering a second round they were so good. The calamari was excellent as well. For mains, my wife got a filet with jumbo prawns and I got the ribeye. Both had to be sent back to get closer to medium rare but I would much rather that, than have them come out overcooked. Flavors were delicious on both the steaks and the prawns and the Lyonnaise potatoes and brussels sprouts were excellent sides. Our 7 y/o daughter said the chicken fingers were the best chicken she ever had (I tasted one and they were very good). The drinks were also great as I had a Kentucky Blue and my wife modified a mule with bourbon replacing vodka. I like The Woolworth because you can easily go casual and spend less than $100, or you can get extravagant and spend a lot more, but unlike some of the more pretentious places in DFW, we did not leave feeling like we didn't get our money's worth. And if I could make one recommendation to management, PLEASE create a gluten free menu or mark items on the menu that can be made gluten free or modified to be, so that people know they will have options when they find you and thus you're more likely to draw in more new guests. read more

Great drink selection, as well as good food and appetizers. The service/server was exceptional as well (I don't remember his name). Got pretty crowded for a weekday evening when we went. We had a reservation for like 8pm, but wasn't seated until maybe 30 mins or so afterwards. Tip: The restaurant is next to "The Eye" (a gigantic eye sculpture) so don't miss that. Our server was friendly and prompt; food and drinks were fine. We asked for the check, and the server rang it up on the hand held machine and left it for us to sign. I didn't notice he had left something else. I squeezed what looked like a chewed lime into the rest of what I thought was my husband's melted ice and drank it. My husband picked it up, licked the salt off the rim, and asked when I ordered a second drink. That's when we realized it wasn't our beverage, that the server left a dirty glass he picked up from a nearby table on ours, and we mistakenly drank from it.
