Sitting in downtown Dallas, The Woolworth brings together nostalgia and great food. After taking two flights of hardwood floors, you are greeted warmly. I made reservations, and when I arrived I requested to be seated outside because of the lovely weather. Without hesitation we were whisked away to the terrace overlooking trees and a small park area. Mario, our server was kind, and attentive. The calamari and caprese lillpops were quite good, along with a warm baguette and butter. We both ordered the filet mignon and cooked to our liking. Sides included the lobster Mac and cheese and was just the right amount of creaminess; followed by the delicious truffle fries. The only problem with the fries, is we wish we had more! This place was so cool for a downtown stop for drinks. There is an outdoor patio that can groups of most sizes. I stopped here with my fiancé late in the evening and they were very accommodating. The inside looked swanky and the atmosphere was nice. Drinks are the star of the show here. Silence is Golden was my favorite drink! We also tried Identity Crisis and the Smoke and Spice. You really can't go wrong on the cocktails. We only got a shared plate and that was my least favorite thing that I had, but so much on the menu looked delicious so I'd give the menu another try. The steak and frites were decent however the fries seemed to be over cooked or almost not fresh, they were extremely crispy to the point of being hard. I didn't enjoy the taste as if they were not freshly cooked. The steak was cooked to a perfection, the drinks were not as flavorful as expected. The lemon drop tasted less like lemon and overly strong. I did enjoy the seating and area by the window to see a nice peak of the surrounding downtown area. The outdoor is really fun for brunch and people watching and a stellar view of the giant eyeball. Brunch they have deals on mimosa glass ($5) or also carafes with severs flavors to choose from. Both times I really enjoyed the food. Everything is seasoned great with the calamari and burger/fries. You get the best balance of flavor. However, the standout for me were the crab nachos. The Woolworth has a fantastic menu of unique items. Colin described all the menu items and specials for us. Colin recommended the Crab Nachos, which were absolutely delicious. Several staff members checked in on us during our visit, to make sure our drinks were topped off and everything was great. My wife had the Prawns & Polenta, while I had the Duck Duck Tot and the Lobster Grilled Cheese. These were awesome! We had coffee and shared a Hula Pie for dessert. As it was our wedding anniversary, Colin served us a complimentary Grilled Pound Cake - with fancy sparkler fireworks! Everything was wonderful. The restaurant was sparkling. We were able to park directly across the street in a paid garage. The staff took several pictures of us, and we requested Colin join us in a photo as well.
