I struggled between giving this place 2 or 3 stars. It's probably a solid 2.5... It's really more of a pub that happens to serve food than anything else. I ordered shrimp scampi. The shrimp were HUGE and they were perfectly cooked. But they were seasoned with jarred garlic, and the white whine in the sauce hadn't been cooked long enough. Great place, Great food and Great hosts! Let's start with the food: The Fish and chips were awesome! My husband had the Clam Strips and they were terrific! Jayne and John ,the owners, were so hospitable and friendly. Before we left I wanted to grab a bowl of clam chowder for later. Pat, our waitress, was spot on. She brought out tastings of both the clam and seafood chowder. I would never have ordered a seafood chowder, always opting for clam instead. It was so amazing and rich that I got a bowl to go. Love this place. It is a local hangout with solid food at fair prices. Great fried clams, fried scallops, and fish and chips. Really good burgers, and the stuffed clam is the best on the Cape. Very informal pub. Not haute cuisine, but if you feel like a casual night out, you won' do better than the Yardarm. read more

Stopped in for dinner on a Friday night with my husband and another couple while visiting the Cape. We arrived around 8:30 pm and was advised the kitchen closes at 9 pm (this was early May) so we rushed to put in our orders. Between the fours of us we had two orders of fish and chips, stuffed shrimp and steak. Everybody was happy with their meals and the service was good. We recently visited the Yardarm during a busy lunch time rush and the hostess Patty F. took special care to seat us quickly and was especially attentive during our meal. My father ordered the spinach salad and a Guinness, my mother ordered the crispy chicken roll up and I had the fish sandwich-all were delicious. We finished our meal with the triple layer chocolate cheesecake and it was enjoyed by all. This restaurant has a local feel, welcoming staff and it has definitely be added to our list of favorite restaurants on the Cape! read more

Don't bother. The stale popcorn and poor service is not worth the wait. Unless you know someone that works there- then they may actually pay attention to your table. I had dinner here a couple of months ago and it was one of the worst experiences with service I have ever had. Apparently, it was open from lunch straight through to dinner without having a period of time between according to the the hostess. The restaurant was kind of busy, not so busy to excuse the wait staff however. The hostess took what seemed to be 15 minutes before acknowledging us, we actually couldn't even tell who was the hostess was because she wouldn't even make eye contact to let us know she knew we were waiting to be seated. By this time I was about ready to go to another establishment who has a professional waitstaff with common sense, but we stayed. So continuing, she let us sit wherever we wanted, which attests to how "busy" they were... So, I tried to let this go and enjoy the rest of the experience here, which became even more horrible. Our waitress didn't come to our table, we waited about 10 minutes and we went to the bar to order a beer and some wine. Still, no waitress around, until I drank about half of my glass of chardonnay. When she came to greet us she had the personality of wet sock. She never smiled, never frowned, never had any range in her voice besides monotone. She didn't even address the fact that we had to go to the bar for our drinks. I had noticed this younger woman before I knew she was our waitress and she was nonchalantly taking orders of people who had arrived after us, standing around looking like a bump on a log... Anyways, besides having no personality, she really didn't know anything about the menu and didn't ask basic questions like, "how would you like that cooked?" or "what kind of salad dressing would you like?". I felt like she didn't want to be waiting on us or anyone else in the restaurant. My boyfriend and I eat out on a regular basis, anywhere from the Impudent Oyster to this place. Never have we had such awful service, I would never go back for food, maybe a drink at the bar, but that's about it. I would never and will never recommend the Yardarm to anyone. The food is mediocre, I mean it's pub or bar food and for the price it's a pretty good deal, but the service is atrocious and will ruin your night out. read more

I've been coming here since I was a kid. The bar is always full of regulars. The drinks are strong, and the food is Good. It has good character and is all around my kind of place. Fried Seafood is great. Must try Seafood Chowder. Good Burgers. I could see this place scaring away the uptight ritzy crowd, but I like it for what it is. Chowder was watery. Wife ordered baked scallops (which were OK) and I ordered the fish sandwich which must have sat on my bun the entire time the baked scallops cooked because the fish was super soggy and barely edible. Waitress did not ask us how our food was once or if we wanted another beer. We had finished our one and only beer before the food came out. She and the other older waitress were rude to their seasonal employees. Pretty disappointed with our visit this time. This was our standard go to. W will be trying new places next time we visit our family in Eastham. read more

This was a perfect place to visit on a hot day. Being tourist and not sure where to visit we looked up a place with seafood and we're not disappointed. We had exceptional service and outstanding food. We had the fish and chips, clam platter and lobster roll. I went on vacation to the cape for a few days and my friend took me here to eat. This place is a great local spot as it has a bar as well as seating for guests. I ordered the NY sirloin with the mashed potatoes. The steak was done perfectly and the mashed potatoes were fantastic. The only complaints I have with this place are that it is a little pricey and the space is limited. read more

We've been twice - once in season and once in mid-September. In season, it was decent but in mid-September it was no good. I don't know if the issue pertains to keeping good cooks in off-season or not. My wife had stuffed clams for appetizer which were no better than ones you'd buy in grocery store plus, I think the cook accidentally or on purpose dumped way too much pepper on them. Then for dinner, my wife does not like spicy food so she went for the orange chicken but it ended up having hot spices on it. I like spicy food and it was spicy. HERE's the kicker. The waitress then proceeds to tell us that this cook likes to spice things up even if shouldn't be. She told of how he once put Sriracha sauce into normal meet loaf to the unpleasant surprise to the customers who ordered it. I also complained that the air conditioner was on and it was less than 50 degrees outside and it was blowing across the table. The waitress's response was that well the kitchen's hot so we need it on. I was so underwhelmed by this place. read more

It's mid-winter on the Cape, and lots of places to eat are closed. We wanted to try one we hadn't been to before. We read the reviews on The Yardarm, and decided to try it. Big mistake! While the staff were friendly, and the place buzzed with conversation, the food was AWFUL. I ordered baked scallops. They were tiny farmed bay scallops with no flavor. Worse, they came in a soupy sauce that was downright bitter. I had expected a casserole of tightly packed sweet-tasting sea scallops with some butter and a crunchy crust of bread crumbs. I got nothing like it. The side was carrots and broccoli. The carrots were raw cubes and the broccoli was one small uncooked floret. Only the French fries were decent. Twenty bucks for THAT??? I have a suspicion that people go here for the meat, for we saw many plates of burgers and beef tips, and not for the sea food. There are far better places within a mile to have seafood. And it wasn't inexpensive, either. Never again! read more

Nice folks there but the food was very disappointing. We were a party of 5 (2 kids and 3 adults) and started with nachos and mozzarella sticks. The nachos arrived with a very thick blanket of raw diced onions on top. This struck us as both unusual and unappetizing... seems there should be a warning (on the menu or from the waitstaff) if they must serve nachos this way. Really, how many people enjoy this? One child at the table inhaled the mozzarella sticks -- they seemed fine. One of us then had a side spinach salad which was enormous, fresh, and very nice. 2 of the adults ordered steak specials (one filet mignon and one NY sirloin). Though we both ordered the steaks cooked medium, they arrived very rare. We sent them back and they arrived a few moments later, charred on the outside and slightly more cooked on the inside. They tasted awful. Even A1 sauce did not render this meat palatable. Fortunately, when we told the waitstaff that the steaks were unsatisfactory and asked them to adjust the check, they did comp the steaks and charge us for soup instead. However, the staff were clearly very irritated -- though our waitress admitted on our way out that the chef had been ruining steaks lately. We did enjoy the draft beer selection (Bass, Stella, Cape Cod IPA) and the kids loved the restaurant's own bottled lemonade. We were also glad to be able to watch the Sox game. If they fixed the steak it would be an all right experience. read more
