Very good lobster roll and lobster club. We were looking for a local pub place and this fit the bill! Had jalapeño popper apps that was very good . The dipping sauce was awesome! The help was good as we sat at the bar, although the bar tend did not remember what I ordered for a drink. Us I originally ordered a long island Ice tea and the bar tender said " we don't do that here" overall great food, great dive bar with lots of locals . Loved it! read more

My first Negative review... so I've frequented this establishment for a couple decades... ... at 8:30 PM on A Sunday I walked in and while the bar was full maybe 40% of the dining room was empty.... ... the hostess met me and told me her servers (of which I saw maybe 3-4 doing very little) 'asked her not to seat anyone else'... This was a frustrating experience. Mediocre wait service on a night when the Yardarm wasn't too busy. It's a tough place to eat as a vegetarian; there was only one vegetarian dish- even the salads had fish sauces. Asked the server if there could be substitutions (for example, no meat on nachos), and the answer was no. The only vegetarian option per the server was what turned out to be very overpriced eggplant parmesian, which was enormous and a heavy meal. Would not even attempt to eat here again. read more

Choose your own adventure - seafood shack, fine dining, Papa Gino's, perfectly dirty Chinese food, you name it. But if you're looking for true, no frills Cape fare, The Yardarm is the place to go. Aside from The Beachcomber. Great burgers or a BLT any time of the day or night. My personal favorite is the teriyaki chicken salad - simple, plentiful, fresh, delicious. Perfect after a long day at the beach. Don't forget the complimentary dinner rolls or an order of garlic bread for the table! I really appreciate the fact that they seem to be the only restaurant in town that allows for take out. But the food was really terrible. I really wanted to like it. I got chicken and it was really bad. We had chicken wings and fried chicken that were really the wrong color, an undercooked burger, and really very bland spaghetti. I really want to like you guys because you had nice service compared to the other places. I was so upset I had to waste so much money and couldn't eat it and had to go buy fast food. read more

This was our first time here at Yardarm and we were looking forward to it due to pretty good reviews over all. We did come in the off season, but unfortunately we don't have a good review to leave. Our waitress was very nice which is why I'm leaving a star. We brought our 3 young kids and were just getting settled with drinks and such to have her bring us out the complimentary bread basket. We noticed right away, even in the dim lighting, that something was off. The bread was moldy on multiple rolls. :( This set the mood for the rest of the meal for us. Our waitress apologized, but nothing else was mentioned the rest of the evening. No manager to apologize or even a discount off our bill. I've never experienced a restaurant serving inedible food before, so it was a very awkward situation especially with little kids we can't easily get up and out the door with. We cannot recommend this place due to the quality of food. Our first impression was awful. Maybe during high season the quality is better but this experience made it so we will not return or can recommend. read more

While many of the reviews spoke highly of the food here, and I would strongly agree, we were a very forgotten party of 2. Totally understand staffing issues and am usually quite patient, my patience was tested tonight. After sitting for close to 29 minutes without so much as a hello or glass of water, we were at last greeted. It was acknowledged that our waitress believed someone else was taking care of us and apologized for this little bleep. We order drinks and dinners at the same time in hopes to make it easier. Thank god we did. The visitations were minimal and we skipped out on a dessert because so much time had passed. When you're overly busy and understaffed, I'd rather you just apologize up front for delays, that goes a lot further than feeling like you're simply forgotten. read more

We stopped by there one Tuesday afternoon after running errands. It was Hamburger Hoopla Day and WOW! was it great! We were given a choice of three toppings on our burger (cheese is one of the choices) and they have sauteed mushrooms, bacon, sauteed onions and a lots of other toppings. The burger came on a ciabatta-type bun, and with fries and a pickle, all for $7.00! So two nights later ,we come for dinner and had fish and chips. Nice, thick piece of fish and the coleslaw was dressed enough without being soupy and runny with sauce. It was a Thursday, so I can assume that people came for the Prime Rib special, but all of the food was coming out looking delicious! Large portions as well. The crowd apparently had a lot of return regulars, and it was nice to see the camaraderie at the bar. Only sad thing, this place is small, but the wait staff was prompt and quick to turn the tables as diners had left. All in all, a wonderful delight! read more

We had an awful experience at the Yardarm. My husband and I went on a Friday night. We didn't wait long for a table. We ordered a stuffed quahog and fried pickle spears for an appetizer. The stuffed quahog was unremarkable but not bad. The pickled were fried in a spicy batter which was ok. It came with a side of some sort of horseradish sauce. Separately, the pickles and sauce were ok but together they tasted awful. We both ordered burger. My husband wanted his burger cooked medium rare while I asked for medium well. They both came out medium rare. I let them know and they took my plate to the kitchen. A few minutes later she came back with the original burger which was now well done and burnt. They threw the same burger on the grill (with the condiments). They put the burger back on the original bun which was soggy and pink (blood from the under cooked burger). The original fries came with it, which were now cold. Needless to say, I was not eating a burger that night. How hard is it to put the burger on a new bun with hot fries? The server was good about it and removed it from my bill. But we won't be going back. read more

I used to love this place growing up on the cape in the summer, but I think it has gone downhill sadly. It is always still packed though. I thought the food was alright, nothing special, but there are a million places that serve seafood on the cape. What struck me was our waitress. She was not mean, but she was not particularly friendly. She gave me a bit of a hard time about the portion I wanted to order that I intended to share, which I thought was not really her place...I am on vacation and wanted to get chowder and fish and chips, two things we don't really have around us. I didn't appreciate being made to feel stupid for ordering the larger portion. After looking at the video and reviews on Yelp I was excited to try this place, especially since it was a stones throw from the houses we were renting. Our party of four of the 17 plus at our paradise in Cape Cod was a scouting party for the rest. After being seated we were greeted, no let me rephrase that, we were given menus without hardly even an acknowledge by our stone faced waitress. After perusing the menu we decided on stuffed potato skins for an appetizer which was excellent and clam chowder which was also very good. Choices for lunch consisted of fish tacos, fish and chips, and on the lunch special; a jumbo chili dog, and a whole belly clam roll. The service was incredible slow, it took about 25 minutes for the potato skins to come out. Another 25 minutes ensued after the potato skins came out before our lunches came out. My whole belly clam roll came out almost cold and the skimpy portion was not what you would expect to get for over $21.00 dollars!. I requested our waitress to return them to the kitchen for an order that was more to a temperature that made them more palatable. Without a word she removed them and an order was returned to the table and were nice and hot. They were returned in just the same manner, without a comment or acknowledgement. The fish tacos, and fish and chips were enjoyed by my other dining companions, Never was the question asked if there was anything else that we would like. The waitress never stopped during our meal to check on us, even the water glasses were not refilled until we asked for the check. Smiles were exchanged between our waitress and customers at other tables but ours was not included. I personally felt most unwelcome in this establishment. Before I left I went to the owner and related my experience to him and he said "I will take it under advisement"! Definitely won't be back. read more

By far one of the worst dining experiences I have had. The only reason this place is getting 2 stars instead of 1 is because my grilled lamb wasn't so bad. I came here with a group of three other people. It was very busy and we waited about 35 minutes to get seated. That wasn't so bad. When we were seated, our waitress greeted us and we one member of my party ordered a clam chowder and asked for some Tobasco sauce on the side. I ordered an Angry Orchard cider. The chowder and my drink were brought out fairly quickly but there was no Tobasco sauce and the glass that was brought out with my cider had a lipstick smudge on it. I told the waitress and she looked at the glass and took it away. No apology or anything. A new glass was brought out, but the sauce never materialized. Next it came time to order dinner. I got the grilled lamb special with bacon and cheese mashed potatoes and no vegetables because the only options were asparagus and cole slaw. I do not like cole slaw and I have a slight asparagus allergy, which I made sure to mention to our server. Two other people in my group ordered the prime rib special: one medium and one medium rare with bacon and cheese mashed potatoes and the asparagus. It took about an hour for us to get our food and we weren't checked on once, nor did anyone come over to apologize. The restaurant was busy, but it is the Cape during summer. Of course it is busy. The two prime ribs were brought out and then I assumed the waitress went back to get the other two meals, but she served another table, that was seated much after us, before she brought out the rest of our meals. When my food came out, the asparagus was on the plate and I had a baked potato instead of the mashed potatoes because they had run out and no one told us during our extremely long wait. I mentioned to the waitress about the allergy and she looked at me and said "oh" while someone else removed it from my plate. Then she looked at me and said "OK?" and walked away. No apology or anything. If it had been a serious allergy, I would have been in trouble. The medium prime rib was pretty much still mooing and after waiting a while to flag down our waitress again, it was sent back. What was brought back out was a gray, horrendous looking piece of meat that was not eaten and taken off the bill. I never need to come back here again. The only things I liked were the lamb and the bread at the beginning. Everything else left a lot to be desired. read more

I was jealous of Matt J's pastrami sandwich...I'll admit it.There was so much oozy cheese and sauerkraut in that grilled sandwich I found myself wishing I had ordered that instead of my crab cakes.... But server said anything fried and anything seafood was this pub's specialty! So I went with that and ordered the crab cakes which looked pretty and the sauce served on top was pretty good, but I prefer my crab cakes a little more seared on the outside--it was not quite what I was envisioning after our 20 mile bike ride that day ha. Plus having crab cakes served with baked beans was a little strange too ha The beans were okay...but the coleslaw was a little bland for my taste. But Matt J's sandwich now that was a winner. Plus he substituted the fries for their onion strings which was another winning choice. Those things didn't taste too fried at all, and they definitely kicked the butt of their regular fries and their spiced curly fries. So really this place deserves 3.5 stars, but since I can't give half stars, I had to round down for the sides with my dish, especially for being $13...and we could tell some of the staff were not happy to see a party of 8 that late into the lunch session...But this random locals spot really is better than it looks! Don't be intimidated by the 'hole in the wall' appearance of this place. Sure, locals go - but that's the best thing. If they are going, something must be right, right? Right. Fantastic fish 'n chips, chowder, and holy crap the stuffed quahog is amazing. The fish isn't coated with a massive oily batter - it is light, yet very crisp and the fish is very fresh. Its a very relaxed place, nice little bar and a few beers on tap (get the local Cape Cod brews - don't seem to be on the menu but they are on tap). How disappointing! I have enjoyed Yardarm in the past, so when a visiting family member said she was hoping for a good clam meal for lunch, I suggested this place. The luncheon menu board offered a fried clam platter for $26.00. At that price, we assumed we could split the "platter" and be satisfied. Ha! The meal was delivered (by a lovely woman named Rose) and we initially thought there had to be a mistake: 7 good- sized bellies and 3 small ones with attendant fries and coleslaw. While they were less than numerous, they were delicious. My complaint is with the outrageous price/amount. In hindsight, we should have called the manager over. I know clams can be pricey, but Arnold's had similar pricing and more than double the amount. Needless to say, I will not be returning or recommending Yardarm. read more

From the outside this place looks like a little hole in the wall. I've driven by it many times and never batted an eye. However, it had a kids menu and we were in a hurry for lunch so Yardarm it was! It definitely has its regulars that are on a personal level with the staff and all the workers seemed very friendly and efficient. We started with some fried cauliflower bites with a ranch dipping sauce that was amaze. For our entrees my daughter had the kids fried shrimp platter which I tried and was tasty, my hubby had the lobster roll which was loaded with huge chunks of lobster and light on the mayo and I opted for their turkey avocado wrap which was not the best but not horrible either. My hubby really loved his lobster roll so I think this is where they shine. I'd come back and stick to seafood. I did like the atmosphere and they have a nice selection to choose from. No complaints with the bar or the food. We stopped in at the end of March, so it was off-season. There were no tables of four available but we decided to wait the 20 minutes that the hostess guessed. Grabbed a couple of beers at the bar and sat down at a hightop to wait. About ten minutes later the hostess informed us that one table had their bill so it shouldn't be long. We watched as that table and two others left and the staff cleaned them. Still we sat at the hightop. About twenty minutes later we got up and stood at the hostess station, whereupon the hostess saw us and it was apparent she had forgotten all about us waiting. Finally got seated. The waitress came and got our drink order and promptly brought them to the table, then promised to be right back to take our order. We then waited about 20 minutes as she bounced around from table to table, never stopping at ours. She finally stopped only to apologize and tell us she had to take another parties drink order and then she would be back. Gave the excuse that we had come in right after the rush. After about another 10 minutes she finally arrived to take our order. I can understand being swamped during the tourist season, but this was March and by the time we got seated the place was half empty. For a place that has been around for a while they should be better able to handle the off season dinner rush. The problem appeared to be more that the waitress could only handle on thing at a time, when she would take a drink order she would then go right to the bar and stand there until the bartender filled the order. I was compelled to leave a negative review for the Yardarm on principle alone. If you value customers, you don't treat them like dirt. Rude behavior - especially from the owner - should not be rewarded. If you care about putting money in the pockets of a business that is routinely rude to their customers, take my advice and take your business to one of the many fine restaurants in Orleans that deserve it. If you read the reviews below Paula, Renee, Mike, DAS, and others, you will see a pattern. This place wants your money and doesn't care about you, or your dining experience. My wife and I went there yesterday (for the 3rd time), thinking we have found a nice lunch spot for weekend walks on Nauset Beach. We had sandwiches - and they were good - but the attitude was lousy. My wife wanted a corned beef sandwich without all the stuff that comes on a Reubin. She was met with a snippy attitude from the server. "Well, here's where we are... basically you tell me what you want, and I will see if they will make it for you!" Now say that back to yourself in a snippy voice... How do you feel? Ok, we moved on and had a nice lunch. Then after about 50 minutes of dining (less than an hour, mind you). The owner comes to our table and asks us to LEAVE!!! What? "We are going to need your table" Excuse me??? There was one small party waiting at the door and a table for 5 was open in the pool room. We were sitting at a little round table in a tight corner of the dining room. I guess he wanted to cram as many people into the place as possible. I followed him back to his perch at the bar, confirmed he was the owner and told him we had never been asked to leave any establishment for any reason. And we found his intrusion on our lunch and request that we pack up and leave (we were just about to leave anyway) to be offensive. He responded with a perfunctory "I'm sorry" in a tone that really said "I couldn't care less" Then I find out from reading these reviews, that our experience was nothing compared to some of the other reviews on this page. We recently took over a rundown house in Orleans. The kitchen doesn't work. We've been back and forth many times to work on the house and the Yardarm is our favorite place to crash after a day of labor. It's relaxed and the daily specials are always good. It really is the best chowder around and the fried foods are not overly battered or greasy. You can sit and have a beer or a glass of wine and relax for a bit. - nobody rushes you. Try the board specials and you won't be disappointed. Looks a bit tiny from the road, but there is plenty of room inside. The staff is friendly and helpful. It was the end of a long day of flying/driving and we were looking for a place to just relax and eat. Thank you Yelp for directing me here. Yes it does seem like a lot locals eat here, which is a good thing. Locals always have the best tips for what to do in the area, so we enjoy their company. The restaurant is loud and lively, which is great for us since we have two boys and it reminds us of family dinners at home. The stuffed quahog is out of sight. They have daily specials, including steaks on Friday nights. The clam chowder was one of the better ones we've had. The lobster roll was delish. Finally, the prices were very reasonable for this part of the world...great for vacationers on a budget. read more
