How disappointing! I have enjoyed Yardarm in the past, so when a visiting family member said she was hoping for a good clam meal for lunch, I suggested this place. The luncheon menu board offered a fried clam platter for $26.00. At that price, we assumed we could split the "platter" and be satisfied. Ha! The meal was delivered (by a lovely woman named Rose) and we initially thought there had to be a mistake: 7 good- sized bellies and 3 small ones with attendant fries and coleslaw. While they were less than numerous, they were delicious. My complaint is with the outrageous price/amount. In hindsight, we should have called the manager over. I know clams can be pricey, but Arnold's had similar pricing and more than double the amount. Needless to say, I will not be returning or recommending Yardarm. read more

We recently took over a rundown house in Orleans. The kitchen doesn't work. We've been back and forth many times to work on the house and the Yardarm is our favorite place to crash after a day of labor. It's relaxed and the daily specials are always good. It really is the best chowder around and the fried foods are not overly battered or greasy. You can sit and have a beer or a glass of wine and relax for a bit. - nobody rushes you. Try the board specials and you won't be disappointed. Looks a bit tiny from the road, but there is plenty of room inside. The staff is friendly and helpful. From the outside this place looks like a little hole in the wall. I've driven by it many times and never batted an eye. However, it had a kids menu and we were in a hurry for lunch so Yardarm it was! It definitely has its regulars that are on a personal level with the staff and all the workers seemed very friendly and efficient. We started with some fried cauliflower bites with a ranch dipping sauce that was amaze. For our entrees my daughter had the kids fried shrimp platter which I tried and was tasty, my hubby had the lobster roll which was loaded with huge chunks of lobster and light on the mayo and I opted for their turkey avocado wrap which was not the best but not horrible either. My hubby really loved his lobster roll so I think this is where they shine. I'd come back and stick to seafood. I did like the atmosphere and they have a nice selection to choose from. It was the end of a long day of flying/driving and we were looking for a place to just relax and eat. Thank you Yelp for directing me here. Yes it does seem like a lot locals eat here, which is a good thing. Locals always have the best tips for what to do in the area, so we enjoy their company. The restaurant is loud and lively, which is great for us since we have two boys and it reminds us of family dinners at home. The stuffed quahog is out of sight. They have daily specials, including steaks on Friday nights. The clam chowder was one of the better ones we've had. The lobster roll was delish. Finally, the prices were very reasonable for this part of the world...great for vacationers on a budget. read more

What a great little spot. We came here with friends while staying in Eastham. This felt like the local spot among the touristy traps. The menu had enough to please everyone and if it didn't the specials definitely did. Think $8 for a cheese burger. "M" had the jalapeno burger for $8.75 and really enjoyed it. This is a good place, with a good value for your dollar. I had the Chicken Angelino which was grilled chicken in a creamy tomato sauce over pasta. Very nice. Everyone else in my party enjoyed their entrees : Cape Cod scrod, a fish sandwich, and the haddock special. It's a cozy,noisy atmosphere where a lot of locals go. Call ahead because it's really busy in the summer..they won't take a reservation, but they will put your name on the "call ahead list" and you will save time. Came here after a short trip to the Cape with some friends. I had the Cape Cod Scrod.... to be honest, it was very bland - not a lot of flavor at all. Unimpressed. However, the clam chowder was faaaaaaaantastic. Far better than Legal Seafood. I was compelled to leave a negative review for the Yardarm on principle alone. If you value customers, you don't treat them like dirt. Rude behavior - especially from the owner - should not be rewarded. If you care about putting money in the pockets of a business that is routinely rude to their customers, take my advice and take your business to one of the many fine restaurants in Orleans that deserve it. If you read the reviews below Paula, Renee, Mike, DAS, and others, you will see a pattern. This place wants your money and doesn't care about you, or your dining experience. My wife and I went there yesterday (for the 3rd time), thinking we have found a nice lunch spot for weekend walks on Nauset Beach. We had sandwiches - and they were good - but the attitude was lousy. My wife wanted a corned beef sandwich without all the stuff that comes on a Reubin. She was met with a snippy attitude from the server. "Well, here's where we are... basically you tell me what you want, and I will see if they will make it for you!" Now say that back to yourself in a snippy voice... How do you feel? Ok, we moved on and had a nice lunch. Then after about 50 minutes of dining (less than an hour, mind you). The owner comes to our table and asks us to LEAVE!!! What? "We are going to need your table" Excuse me??? There was one small party waiting at the door and a table for 5 was open in the pool room. We were sitting at a little round table in a tight corner of the dining room. I guess he wanted to cram as many people into the place as possible. I followed him back to his perch at the bar, confirmed he was the owner and told him we had never been asked to leave any establishment for any reason. And we found his intrusion on our lunch and request that we pack up and leave (we were just about to leave anyway) to be offensive. He responded with a perfunctory "I'm sorry" in a tone that really said "I couldn't care less" Then I find out from reading these reviews, that our experience was nothing compared to some of the other reviews on this page. Came here on a busy Friday night. Luckily there was only 2 of us, so we only waited about 20 minutes for a table, during which time we grabbed a drink at the bar. The atmosphere is loud, very loud, but never deafening - I never had trouble hearing my boyfriend across from me at dinner, and the volume only adds to the ambiance, it being a local pub. They only have one local beer on tap - the Cape Cod IPA - which was a little disappointing as Cape Cod Beer has many other great brews, but the IPA is excellent. For appetizers we shared the popcorn shrimp and stuffed quahog, both were very tasty. For dinner I got the fisherman's platter, which includes shrimp, scallops, sole, and whole belly clams with fries and coleslaw. All of it was cooked very well and the fish was flaky and soft, which I liked. My boyfriend had the BBQ ribs, which were also tasty, but not out of this world delicious. All in all we had a great time here and will be back again. It's worth a try for dinner if you're in the area - their menu is large, and their specials board includes lots of different options. read more

Always enjoy the Yardarm and it's local feel. The food is good and consistent. This season it seems they have a new hostess working out front. She seemed rather kind to the locals but if she didn't know you she was quite mean spirited and short with you. Stopped here for dinner on our last night of vacation. The place doesn't look good from the outside but is very cute on the inside. Overall the food was good. I got the clam chowder which was delicious and the Caesar salad which was also good. The only reason I am giving this place 3 stars is because our waitress was horrible. Not the best. I went there for dinner on a Monday...one of their prime rib nights. I ordered medium rare, and when it arrived it was medium and cold...as were the mashed that came with it. I sent it back, and was most specific...."don't microwave this". Four minutes later, the plate comes back....and the meat is hot but Gray. Yup..nuked. Sent back again. Bad food is not the wait staffs fault...but attitude is. Our waitress expressed anget and frustration. "Well I don't know what you want!" Possibly what I ordered? And since the prime rib was at the upper end for price...maybe cooked correctly? Third time was the charm. They finally brought me a fresh piece of meat, prepared correctly. The ginger calamati was very good. A nice change from the basic with marinara. As always, one screw up I can let go. Two...with attitude? Nope. Sorry. There are better places. read more

As a local I can tell you that this is a friendly, decent, undistinguished eatery attached to a bar. Very nice staff. And truly a local place. Great local hangout and restaurant. Good option with kids. The seafood was fresh. I made the mistake of having the fish tacos on "Mexican night." Not great, but not bad. Others in my party had good fresh seafood. Fish and chips looked great. Waitstaff was quite accomidating of the children and made the experience pleasant. The crowd was more heavily on locals with a large bar scene. We arrived at about 5:30 on a Wednesday evening and were seated right away. The restaurant was filled with people waiting when we left around 6:30. Bar was one deep. Beer and wine selection were a level up from a dive bar. Pricing was reasonable for a place on the Cape. Solid casual eatery near the heart of Orleans. The weird thing is that this place used to be something of a biker bar; a place where rugged bearded gentlemen could shoot some pool and load up on whatever was on tap. I'm not suggesting it was Hell's Angels mischief or anything - the Cape is the Cape - but it's still funny to me that the Yardarm is now a funky little family restaurant. As you might expect from its location, the menu is heavy with seafood, especially if it can be fried. They make good burgers and a decent sandwich, and I enjoyed the teriyaki chicken salad more than I expected. I was less impressed with the calamari, but it was edible. It's a pretty robust menu, all told, and there's plenty for the kids, too. Despite the shift to casual dining, there's still a full bar with a lot of good stuff on tap. The flowing brew and casual vibe bring in all kinds of people to the place, which provides a nice atmosphere. There seems to be a pretty steady crowd of regulars on-hand, and they really liven the place up with good cheer. Service has always been jovial and helpful. As you might expect, it can be difficult to get a table (or stool) during tourist and/or beach season as the Yardarm and Land Ho do their best to service the huge tide of families looking for a menu with chicken fingers on it. Luckily, the place is open quite late if you want to sample the wares without a long wait. I wouldn't call it a must-eat restaurant, but it's a nice little joint. Prices are a bit high, given the modest fare - but that's Orleans for you, I guess. A thumbs-up if you're a hungry family looking for a full menu, or if you're out late and are craving something warm and tasty. read more

I've been here twice now and have had great experiences so far! Last night I tried the French Dip and it's one of the best I've ever had. The roast beef is freshly shaved and served cold. The au jus warms it right up. The two apps I've tried (mozzarella sticks and potato skins) were not bad. The restaurant itself is really cute and it was one of my father in law's favorite places. OK, I have good news and bad news about the Yardarm. First the good news - this is a quaint little place with good food, great service and a friendly atmosphere!! I would definitely go back again, but maybe for dinner at night - probably the same food, but the price points would be in a more dinner mindset. Now the bad news - $60 for a lunch of fish and chips, a clamroll and a couple of beers. Ack! Just a little pricier than expected. I definitely think that this place is way better than any of the places on the strip (read Arnold's). Walking in, the place is a bit stuffy, real noisy, and almost smells fishy, but, this vibe totally works; after all, this is a locals pub way out on the cape. The food was not mind blowing delicious, but tasty and priced well. The Cod fish 'n chips were not over battered so we could taste how fresh the fish was. Very good. The clam strips, on the other hand, were way too fried and I couldn't really taste the clams. Good clam chowder - not the best I've ever had. Lots of fresh daily specials up on the white board. Good local IPA to wash it all down. I'd rate the food 3 stars, but am giving the overall experience a 4 because the local fishing captain pounding beers at a table next to us was quite the character and made the visit memorable. read more

On vacation over Memorial Day we had a perfectly fine mid afternoon lunch. Attentive staff, friendly atmosphere, good bar food and lots of locals. I did login to Yelp to point out the troll who stationed himself on the stool in front of the free popcorn machine and insulted everyone who didn't read the small print on the doors of the machine telling you to open the left door, not the right one. A. I could be barely read it the eye chart size letters and, hey. it's just popcorn. B. The left door opens into you and makes it harder to get the popcorn out and C. What kind of a grown man appoints himself guardian of popcorn machine literacy and insults the paying customers of a business because they don't follow the obscure local rules? Local color is one thing, but obviously over compensating aggressive drunks are something else, if this guy is a bar regular management should move his seat, if he IS management he is a moron. So, go to the Yardarm for perfectly fine food, but avoid the popcorn machine! :) read more

This hidden gem is a newly renovated no frills eatery that typically services locals and tourists. The food is fresh and tasty, the staff is attentive and caring and the portions are quite large. We had lobster rolls and salads. The lobster roll was huge, the meat was sweet and tender and not too laden in mayo. Absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, we were seated and then completely forgotten about. We had to go to the hostess after about 15 minutes and ask if we had a waitress. When the waitress came over, she said we had gotten lost in the shuffle. When I asked if I could have an item added to an omelette special (bacon) she said "no, they were too busy." Another 10 before we got our drinks and then she served them to the wrong people....there are only two of us. Can't remember the last time we had such poor service. Was just there on Wednesday night and ordered the Fried Flounder Platter with Onions Strings. When my order came out I was disappointed at what was put in front of me, 4 small very paper thin pieces of Flounder, the onion strings where chew and oily and cut thinner than I've had them, and I could see the bottom of the plate in between the food, sparse. I have had this platter more than once since this establishment has changed ownership, but this was totally disappointing and cost $1 more than it did a couple of months ago.
