I came back in Boston and visited Thinking Cup once again because I loved their cappuccino so much! It gets pretty crowded in the day (2pm) but they served my coffee in an instant. This time around I got the soy cappuccino and my sister had the brewed coffee. Both so very delicious. I love the atmosphere here; cozy, warm, perfect lighting, and great location. After doing some shopping around Newbury, we got a little cold and wanted to stop at a cafe for a quick coffee. I had never heard of Thinking Cup and it just happened to be on our walk back to the hotel. We definitely got lucky; this place is a gem. They have a great selection of pastries, salads, and sandwiches on top of their coffee menu. It's got the cafe feel plus a little more. It was a bit hard finding a table to sit at on Friday evening; that was the only negative. We waited around ten minutes and was able to find a seat. This place is a self serve type; you pick up your order and clean up your table when you leave. Kind of like Panera bread. The affogato had a generous helping of vanilla ice cream topped with espresso. The chia pudding had berries that made it sweeter but not too sweet. The almond milk and consistency was fantastic and I was really impressed. It comes in a plastic container with a lid for easy transport if you take it to go! Nice cozy atmosphere that has a constant stream of customers. There is a decent amount of seating inside as well as an outside seating area. This Thinking Cup is my go-to coffee shop in the Copley area!! They have the best matcha lattes in the area, always foamy and creamy. I also love their affogatos (great size, the gelato is ), super rich hot chocolate, and flavorful macarons! Juice is fresh--best thing about my experience. The atmosphere is pleasant, amiable. Brewed coffee was just okay. Bagel was somewhat dry. Egg and sausage sandwich was fair. Whoever manages the place needs to put someone in charge of bussing tables and picking up trash. Especially out front. It's the first thing people see. I wouldn't make an effort to go back. Update: The manager contacted me and assured me that the poor experience we had was an anomaly. There was an unexpected staffing issue and a back up plan is now in place. I appreciated the follow up. I came here to meet a friend on a Saturday morning, and the place was popping! There was a steady stream of customers coming through, but there's quite a bit of seating (more in the back if you need it), and there were several open tables despite the popularity. Went there yesterday, a lady with a short ponytail helped me. I do not remember her name but she had dark hair that faded into blonde on the bottom. She had fair complexion and was around 5'4-5'6. I can say that was one of the worst experiences I have had with anyone at a register. She was sassy and rude.I said thank you multiple times and she genuinely either looked away or not respond. She looked very annoyed for just needing to be there. Maybe she was having a bad day but it shouldn't be that difficult for anyone to say you're welcome. Or at least be nice. Food was okay for $11. I'm so glad that Thinking Cup and I are in different states because my butt would be strolling in every weekend for cakes, sandwiches, and coffee. Will C. and I ended up having breakfast twice here during our short weekend getaway. On our first visit, we both had the salmon and lox on everything bagels with an iced honey cinnamon latte. It was such a wonderful way to get our morning started. The latte, especially, was absolutely delicious. The honey and cinnamon flavors were so nice. I instantly regretted not getting a larger one. Two women in the table next to us were enjoying a chocolate cake, and that thing legitimately looked like it came straight out of Matilda. I kept looking at their cake as I ate my salmon and lox bagel. I hope they didn't notice. On our second visit, Will C. got us sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwiches. This wasn't quite as good as the bagels we had on the previous day, but they were still hearty and held us over until lunch time. Thinking Cup is a lovely cafe that has ample outdoor and indoor seating. However, this place gets really busy and it can be difficult securing a good seat. The lines can also get quite long, but the staff does a great job of churning out those food and drink orders real quick. I can totally imagine myself coming here in the winter months and cozying up in one of their cushioned seats by the window with a good book. Wow! Every time I'm in Boston - this has been my go to place. Not only are their cold brews top notch (Stumptown), they have the BEST almond croissants ever. I'm originally from LA and currently live in NYC and I've had my fair share of almond croissants (coming for you soon, Paris!). But whoa, the almond croissants here were totally unexpected. It has a nice buttery crunch on the outside and soft and gooey filling inside. It's not too sweet and it's the perfect size. If you ever get the change, please do yourself a favor and try it. Goodness, this place is packed on a Friday afternoon. Line is overflowing through the front door. A friend recommended this cafe to me after I asked what is a good non-corporate coffee chain to go to in Boston. Thinking Cup was his reply. I just tried the vanilla iced coffee and 2 macaroons - pistachio and the "purple" one, which turned out to be lavender, which I hated. Not their fault - I just don't like lavender. It's like I'm eating flowers. Just make sure to ask what flavor macaroons they have, rather than pointing out the color you like, just because they look cool. I felt like a kid. The pistachio macaroon, on the other hand, was delicious! Don't be discouraged by the long line. They are super fast and efficient. This was a solid coffee shop with delicious looking pastries (unfortunately I didn't try any), great coffee, and a wonderful selection of sandwiches and breakfast items as well. I had the honey cinnamon latte and oh my..... it was so much better than I expected! I have been in a funk recently where every special coffee shop I tried never turned out that spectacular so the expectations haven't been very high. But I'm so happy I got this latte! It was deliciously sweet but it was such a delicate sweetness that I loved (I find honey tends to lend itself to a more subtle sweetness). The cinnamon also added the perfect amount of warming spice to my latte that I definitely needed after coming in from the 20-something degree temperatures that day. Coming from a SoCal native, I was in desperate need of a hot drink. For my breakfast, I got the breakfast burrito with chorizo. I was also very happy with this choice and it was so satisfying before a long day of walking and adventuring through the city. I must say my expectations weren't too high when I saw it, but it was delicious nonetheless and I would totally order it again! My friend got the lox bagel and said it totally hit the spot! As for the interior of the coffee shop, it was definitely a bit crowded with the amount of people coming in hoping for a seat. I can only assume that typically people would enjoy a nice seat outside but given the temperatures opted out of that option. It has eclectic decor, studious patrons, delicious roasts and wonderful pastries. However, because it's often busy seating can be difficult to come by. I also had a roast chicken sandwich, which was delicious and reasonably priced. A great pick me up after a hard hot day of walking and shopping. We wanted to return during our Boston trip, but it was too far to walk from where we were staying. But we kept talking about going back! One issue though is, like almost all the storefronts on Newbury Street, the shop is not easily accessible. You have to walk down about 10 steps to order food downstairs. After trying out Dig Inn the previous day for breakfast I found this place located on Newbury St. Thinking Cup is way better in my opinion. I ended up eating breakfast two times here during my trip in Boston. My first time here I had the smoked salmon on bagel (cream cheese, tomato, red onions and arugula) with the honey cinnamon latte. Although the line was very long on both days I visited, they are quick to take orders and the food/drinks come out in a timely manner. The smoked salmon bagel was delicious, probably one of the better ones I have had. The tomato, onion and arugula balanced out the fish and cream cheese. Although I only had one bagel for breakfast, I was content for a long time during that day. The honey cinnamon latte was also very good. The coffee was not very bitter and the honey and cinnamon complimented the coffee well. The second time I had their breakfast sandwich with sausage, egg and cheese. The sausage used was high quality and tasted good however I can't say the same for the egg. The egg was one of those fake eggs. Overall, the breakfast sandwich was not as memorable as the salmon bagel. Thinking Cup has seating available on the outside and inside. Seating on the inside can be cramped and limited. I visited on a day where it was nicer weather so a lot of people were seating outside. If you come during the breakfast/lunch time, you may have to keep an eye out for a table that opens up. read more

Beautifully crafted delicious coffee is placed in your hands (they even won he Best Coffee award in NYC to boast). Using the famed Stumptown roasted coffee, Thinking Cup serves up some of the most well-balanced full bodied coffees in all of the east coast. The coffee shop also has a nice vintage vibe, with old newspaper clippings all over the restaurant. The pastry selections are quite excellent (even better than some pastry shops in Boston) and the sandwiches are superb. It's a little on the pricey side, but totally worth it. One problem though: no wifi. But this is probably to avoid loitering (and it gets crowded). If you xfinity though, you'll be able to do your weekly binge watching through xfinitywifi. read more
