    Matcha Latte

Tried their classic matcha latte, employee was nice enough to take my order without paying on the phone and had it ready when I arrived. Matcha was decent. Their matcha mochi donut was also yummy and chewy!

I had bookmarked Third Culture Bakery and finally got to try it. Around the corner from the shop there is plenty of free parking. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a smaller shop, but very cute![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was very friendly. They do sell some company merch here. We ordered the jouraku matcha latte with oat milk. We also ordered several of their bakery items including a guava donut, buko pandan donut, mochi banana pudding, and black sesame mochi muffin. I think the donuts are the star here! They are soft and chewy, not too sweet. The flavors are pretty accurate as well for the donuts. The mochi banana pudding was unique, and enjoyable! They did recommend heating up for 1 minute, but you can probably get away with much less time than that. The black sesame mochi muffin was pretty average. The jouraku matcha latte was average; couldn't really taste much of the matcha notes, but it had more matcha flavor than some other cafes. Overall, this was a unique bakery and I would totally come back!

You can never go wrong with Third Culture! Their Strawberry Lychee Matcha Latte is my go-to and it's so good every time! This was my first time at the Walnut Creek location and it was no different. They didn't have as many seasonal flavors as some of the other locations though, I've noticed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The service was great and there's some indoor and outdoor seating (unfortunately not enough if you're looking to do work or study).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you're in the area and craving matcha, this is a great place to try!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Third Culture Bakery in Walnut Creek offers a selection of pastries and drinks with a vibrant exterior.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I tried the mango passionfruit mochi donut and the Jouraku matcha latte. The donut had a nice chew and was probably the most mochi-like donut I've had. The mango passionfruit glaze added a bright, fruity sweetness that balanced nicely with the texture. The Jouraku matcha latte, though freshly whisked, didn't stand out as much. The matcha flavor was milder than I expected, and the drink leaned a bit too heavy on the milk for my taste. The service, however, was exceptional! The staff member who took my order was incredibly kind and engaged everyone in friendly, genuine conversation, making the experience feel warm and welcoming.

Their mochi donuts here are very good and delicious. They come in a variety of wonderful flavors: mango passion fruit, strawberry, dark chocolate, ube coconut, guava, raspberry lychee, lemon, black sesame. My favorites so far are Ube coconut and guava! I've had other mochi donuts but none compare to this, can really taste the flavors from their donut here. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very cute, clean store with their own parking lot which is great especially downtown Walnut Creek.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They'll put them in a cute box that's awesome for gift giving ideas. Can't wait to come back and try the other flavors.

Visiting my daughter's workplace this morning. I asked her what would they like for a treat? We had brought over Nisshodo chi chi dango from Honolulu to share, and she exclaimed that Third Culture Bakery is known for its delectable mochi muffins and donuts. So off we went to Third Culture Bakery in Walnut Creek. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Walking into the quaint bakery, you immediately find yourself smelling the fresh baked goods.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The bakery is small, clean, and full of bright decor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service is excellent and friendly here. The two ladies assisting us are adorable and helpful. Smiles all around. The price point is @$3.50 for the mochi donuts and @$3.50 -$5.00 for the mochi muffins. There was a bread pudding mochi banana pudding special at $6.88. I picked up the banana bread mochi pudding and lemon meringue mochi muffin for ourselves to try later. My daughter's co-workers are happy!

Mango matcha with oatmilk was fantastic![[HIGHLIGHT]]This is my favorite place to meet up with friends.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's tucked away on the side of downtown.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I usually park by the Ross and walk on over. Definitely check out if you're in the area.

Consistently delicious matcha drinks. Service is very friendly! I prefer this location over the Berkeley one because of the great service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside is small with a few seats and it's pretty easy to find a spot for parking.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Anchal A.

Ordered the strawberry lychee iced matcha and it was pretty good! They hand whisked the matcha right in front of me which was fun to see and the matcha had a rich umami flavor. Strawberry lychee added sweetness and was a unique flavor combo. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is small with only a couple tables and chairs.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They sell a bit of merch and the vibe inside is really cool.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Quick and friendly service! Would def come back to grab the guava matcha next!

--- FOOD & DRINKS --- Mmmk! So I've been visiting Third Culture since 2023. Mochi donuts definitely became a thing since around that time. While it's not my go-to dessert, this is definitely my go-to for Mochi donuts and muffins when ya girl is in the mood! Really love that there us Asian flavors like: Buko Pandan, Matcha, Black Sesame, and more! Now their drinks? I'm definitely a matcha girly. I've tried numerous spots in WC and it's such a struggle to find ceremonial matcha out here. Third Culture is my most frequently visited for matcha lattes- it's my closest walk and I lov the different matcha flavors like Strawberry Lychee, Caramel, and seasonal ones like Guava! I always change my milk to oat. They also have soy and almond. They did have a couple "ceremonial" matcha drinks, but those were taken off the menu during the matcha shortage. I kept coming back anyway because of the short distance and the fun flavor options. Fast forward to today - a few days ago they finally updated their matcha to a "Premium Matcha - New First Harvest Ceremonial Blend"! The color is definitely more vibrant and it tastes WAAAAY better! So glad to finally have at least a ceremonial blend out in this city! This is definitely a top reason why I'll be coming back. --- SERVICE --- The staff is super friendly and social. Their thoughtful comments also come a long way. "Let me know if you need me to make any adjustments to your drink." "Feel free to share your thoughts about the new matcha powder". "You have a wonderful day, now!" --- AMBIANCE --- I love the colorful voiiibeees! The outdoor tables and chairs outside are pink. The store windows are a rainbow hologram. Their merch section is aesthetic and colorful- which totally matches the vibe of their drinks and food. Can't wait to try more on their menu!

Came here at 3 on a Friday and not much mochi donuts were left. They close at 4pm. Also, no hot drinks available since steamer is broken. Got the iced caramel matcha latte and a mochi muffin banana bread pudding . The bread pudding had no banana taste. It looked sweet but it wasn't sweet enough. I prefer mochi donut more. The drink was ok but I really wanted a hot drink. I like the Berkeley location more since they still had plenty of mochi donuts 5 min before closing on a Saturday.

Ube mochi muffin, Roasted Matcha Latte

Third Culture Bakery makes the best mochi muffins and my favorite matcha lattes! I have been a loyal customer for some time now, and first tried Third Culture at their Berkeley location when I lived in Oakland a few years ago. I'm SO glad there is a Walnut Creek location! The mochi muffins are incredible. I love the mix of textures with the slightly crunchy outside and perfectly chewy inside. The Ube Mochi Muffin is a must try and my favorite flavor. I also like pairing the Original Mochi Muffin with a flavored roasted matcha latte. The butter mochi donuts are also quite good, but if you only want one treat and are deciding between the muffins and the donuts, get the muffin. I like the mango passionfruit donut and the ube coconut donut. I've also enjoyed the yuzu lemon donut. As for the drinks, I highly recommend the roasted matcha lattes! My favorite is the strawberry lychee roasted matcha latte with oat milk. I recently tried the seasonal guava matcha latte with oat milk and it was delicious! Service is always a delight here. There are a few indoor seats and outdoor seats, but best for 1-2 people and not for groups. There is usually parking in the lot directly next to the bakery.

1ST time visiting @ThirdCulture We ordered both of their iced drinks, Strawberry Lychee Matcha & Roasted Matcha. If you couldn't tell, we're matcha missys. Place was super clean, well-styled with pink holographic accents to their logo and walls indoors and on the front door. Restrooms not avail. Dog friendly seating outside if you came to stay and chat with WiFi avail. Merch wall was super cute. They sell ceremonial grade matcha and I've been hunting for some in person at local cafes as to not pay taxes on a delivery. However, they matcha was being sold in a pouch bag, which isn't my style. I prefer in a tin as it keeps it fresher from my POV so I did not indulge myself. Products: Iced Roasted Matcha Latte - I tasted my friends and you definitely can taste that hojicha as advertised. They sell this powder as well so I'm assuming it must be popular. We both liked it. If you enjoy that earthier not too sweet taste, this is your drink. 4/5 IMO Iced Strawberry Lychee Matcha - too sweet for me Ya'll! From now on I'll be asking about adjusting sweetness not just at boba shops but at cafes too; hoping the staff are familiar enough with their drinks to gauge it well to us 1st timers @TC. Anywho, I loved what they were trying to do with the flavors. Their strawberry mix in definitely has to be a syrup or the lychee syrup has too much sugar in it. But overall, it was a pleasant drink. I wouldn't say I'd be back for it repeatedly even if the location was closer and more accessible to me. They get bonus points for hand whisking all their matcha drinks per drink AS THEY SHOULD and all other cafes 4/5. I did see a dad and young toddler come in to buy a bunch of mochi donuts which apparently is their speciality though. I wasn't super interested due to my carb intake but ya. Definitely try it out if it's your thing.

Receiving a texted coupon for 15% off my order, I was excited to use it since I needed a birthday cake. Though there was an online code, I could not use the discount online. I called the shop several times, but there was no answer, and I even left a voice message but never heard a call back. Finally I noticed there was number on the website to text so I did, and got a response. The response was that it was too late to order the cake, and the coupon couldn't be used online ordering system because the online ordering system was different from what was used in the store. BUT I was told I can still call my order in and pay in advance over the phone to get the 15% discount if I still wanted cupcakes, and if the store didn't answer, the person sending the text said he/she would contact the store. I appreciated that kind gesture. The next morning, I settled for cupcakes and decided to call the order in and pick up the cupcakes in the afternoon since I had no time that morning to go to the store. But lo and behold, I called and again no one answered. I texted the same number from the day before and a response came back that they would contact the store to give me a call. I checked in by calling the store two more times and still no answer. And no one called back that afternoon either. Sadly, I had to give up, but was glad to give business to a way more responsive bakery with delicious cakes.

The hygiene alone should be enough to make anyone turn around and walk out. The employee working the front repeatedly coughed into his hands, rubbed his nose, sneezed, then immediately went back to handling customers' utensils, napkins, and food-related items without washing or sanitizing his hands. It happened over and over again. It was honestly disgusting to watch. Basic food safety should never be optional. Then came the bill. Three items. One tiny crepe, one madeleine, and one quiche. Nearly $50. I actually thought there had been a mistake. The crepe was embarrassingly small, and the chicken inside was some of the worst I've had. It was dry, stringy, chewy, and tasted incredibly cheap. There was absolutely nothing fresh or high quality about it. The portions were tiny, the quality was poor, and the prices were completely disconnected from reality. My husband was born and raised in France, and we've spent plenty of time eating at cafés and bakeries there. This isn't even remotely comparable. It's an overpriced imitation that relies on the idea of being French instead of delivering food that's actually worth eating. If you're going to charge premium prices, then deliver premium quality, proper food safety, and an experience that justifies it. This place failed on every one of those fronts. We won't be back, and I genuinely can't understand why this place has the reputation it does.

My first visit was a to-go order of the Original Croissant, Pain Suisse, and Flan, and I loved everything so much that I came back again a month later when I was in the area. Their pastries are seriously exceptional, and I can totally see why they won the award. Personally though, I actually love the Pain Suisse even more! The dough was flaky, buttery, a right balance between crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside with each bite. And the Flan Vanille is on another level. I've tried so many different flans and even know how to make a pretty good one myself, but this is the kind of flan I would bring to a party if I wanted to impress everyone. The bakery itself is beautiful, and I love that you can watch the bakers working through the glass window. Their pastry display is also dangerous because everything looks so good, with tons of sweet and savory options. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating as well. Staffs were friendly and welcoming. I also tried their holiday berry croissant on my second visit. They definitely did NOT skimp on the filling lol. The location is easy to get to, with lots of parking behind in a lot, and it's very clean, with lots of chairs and tables; yet all were filled this Saturday evening, which is a good sign. There are too many pastries, treats, and drinks to even cover, and we spent a few minutes trying to find our choices, which you mainly pick from cabinets using a self-serve tray and tongs. For drinks and cake (whole or sliced), you order those at the counter. We decided on some pastries, some cake slices, and a drink. And S'mores was the predominant theme today. We ordered a raspberry fruit bite, 2 chocolate supreme croissants, 2 S'mores Belgian waffles, a sugar mochi donut, a coffee donut croissant, 2 slices of S'mores chocolate marshmallow cake, and a slice of rainbow cake. We also got the cream cheese puff and the crème brûlée bombolone ... quite the name! And, of course, a S'mores frappe! The server helping us at the register was polite and efficient, but there was only one register open and a long line. As such, other folks were helping gather the goodies from the cake case, and as we were taking these to go, we did not realize until we were home that the rainbow cake was not a rainbow cake, but a THIRD slice of S'mores cake. Ugh. That one was chosen by the 8-year-old, who was understandably not happy, and the additional insult of paying extra (above the cost of the S'mores) for a cake we didn't get made ME unhappy too! Paid $8.29, got a $6.99 cake slice. The pastries are generally good, with some very good and some more of a "meh." Among the best were the raspberry fruit bite and the coffee donut croissant. That coffee one was a surprise, as it had a soft liquid filling we didn't realize when buying, and the taste was very coffee, which I loved. Will get that again for sure. The S'mores chocolate supreme croissant was also popular. The crème brûlée bombolone was different, with a light pastry and a filling different from what I usually find in crème puffs, and it was tasty. The waffles were not a light and airy as we would have liked, but the flavor was good. The mochi donut was a bit dry as well, not up to true Japanese bakery standards, and the cream cheese puff was all puff and short on the cream cheese (see photos). And the S'more cake was good for flavor, very rich and S'morey, but the presentation really is lacking. Not that I normally compare one chain to another, but for example, when we get Crumbl, the product is very close to the advertising. Not so with the S'more cake, and I am not even sure all the layers were there and in the proper order or proportion; check out the photos and see what I mean. However, the flavor was spot on, and that is the ultimate goal, although the "eyes eat first," as we Yelpers know! And the highlight was not a pastry or cake, but the S'more frappe. It was layered beautifully, fresh-tasting, and very S'morey (yes, a new word I now love!). We even got a second, as we had to eat this there so it could be shared by the group, and it was calling us! Definitely hope it is available next visit, and Starbucks could take a lesson in quality versus price point. Some of the pastries here are really not worth the cost for the product (would skip the cream cheese puff, for example, and the mochi donut), but everything else was very good.
