Plenty of available seating inside and outside. What we ordered: - Traditional croissant ($3.75) - Custard filled morning bun ($4.50) - Raspberry violet almond croissant ($3) (seasonal) The butter croissant was small and the seasonal raspberry almond croissant was tiny (hence the low price). Good lamination. Very crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The raspberry violet almond croissant was definitely my favorite out of the three. It's not too sweet and the raspberry is more like a layer of filling in the middle. The morning bun was just okay - it is a beautiful pastry but I don't love cinnamon and the cinnamon powder and texture of the custard were just throwing me off. Nice space with challenging parking, but I managed to find a legal spot one block south. As for the Bakery / Cafe they serve a variety of Pastries, Cakes, Breads, Drinks, plus Soup & Salad. My choices today being a flaky turnover, a decadent muffin, and some satisfying quiche that I partnered with soup and salad from the fridge, oh and some hearty bread obtained today. Had a chance to visit Thorough Bread with the boy and we were thoroughly pleased by our experience! This place is a little gem near the mission and has some good pastries and cakes to try. Thorough bread is my favorite bakery in San Francisco. At the time of writing, you can get their freshly baked sourdough batard for less than some grocery store loaves. This is my workhorse loaf, an evenly airy and soft crumb with a delightful crispy crust. Though I usually just stop in to grab my bread for the week, their cafe seating is nice too. In the warmer months I order their ham and cheese baguette sandwich and watch the birds hop around, looking for leftover crumbs. I have yet to find a bakery in this part of SF that matches Thorough bread's value and quality. And on top of that, the staff make bread sculptures and dioramas for every season and holiday! If you want a local SF experience that doesn't feel extra touristy or overpaid (read: Tartine), then go to Thorough Bread. It's family owned, run by the DAUGHTER (woman owned/led). Baked goods are fantastic and the cafe and garden are perfect for a quiet afternoon, coffee date, networking session, friend catchup, you name it. There is no wifi. Come with a friend, a neighbor, good company. My favorite baked goods from here: sourdough multi grain loaf, baguette, cookies (double chocolate!!!!), chocolate croissant, seasonal tart, carrot cake, scones, muffins, oh and the sandwiches. The almond is by far one of the top ones I've had- the ratio of almond-flavored filling is perfect with the flaky croissant. Strawberry Chocolate Almond Croissant: definitely my favorite! The almond croissants have a really great crust on them, while having a nice fluffy and airy croissant texture inside them. This flavor is spot on. Mango Pineapple Almond Croissant: more pineapple than mango in my opinion, but still so good. The almond croissants are just amazing and I would come back for these alone. Chocolate Croissant: the croissant is buttery, soft, and airy. I honestly didn't get much chocolate in my bites and preferred the almond croissants. Spinach artichoke savory turnover: YUM! Flaky, flavorful, and eaten up way too quickly. Cheddar and potato savory danish: the flavor on this was okay and tasted a bit off. This one was the least memorable for me.
