This bar has saved our lives a few times on our trip to New Orleans. Open till late and awesome chicken tenders and fries. No frills, no bs prices, and great customer service. On one occasion of picking up some food they were playing Lord of the Rings and it was honestly amazing. Walked in here for lunch very uncertain of this place because it was totally empty. And the bartender wasn't really nice, just seemed annoyed by my presence. So, I feel super strange giving 4 stars to a dive bar. Even stranger giving 4 stars to one where I saw a giant rat run across the floor. But its New Orleans, the doors are always open, and there is a crawfish boil. Things happen lol. The crawfish were great and they're kept inside a giant cooler. You're given a container and you scoop it out and they charge you. The boyfriend got some cheesy tater tots. He asked for a Sprite, but was given a come. Bartender was nice. I've never had real crawfish boil before, so while in the FQ area, we went to this dive bar bc Yelpers said to go here at 6pm for crawfish boil. Sure enough, 6pm rolls around and they hauled out a large cooler filled with freshly boiled crawfish. The bar tender yelled out that crawfish is ready. $24 for a all you can fill-up styrofoam container. I filled it up as much as I could. The guy in charge at the container was urging everyone to keep filling their container as much as they can. I did so much pinching tails and sucking heads... LOL. Kind of the quintessential NOLA bar you might think of, old beat up/carved wood with a smell that is...interesting, bathrooms are "hold your breath" style, even beyond "breath through your mouth" because of the pervasive gnats that are setting up shop and probably imbedded in the structure itself. All that said, it's not a bad thing...the crawfish was on point and the tots alongside were fantastic! 2:1 beers too, so, that's amazing with the eats of course! Bartender was a cool dude, like laid back and plays Zelda and cracks crazy brews, chilling cool. After walking around in the rain all day I got in the mood for some crawfish When we got to the bar they said crawfish was being prepared and would be ready around 5:30/6pm. It was 4:50 so we decided to have a couple of drinks while we waited. This bar is really small, but it had a really cool feel. The bartender was very nice. Their bottled drinks were two for 1 (which was nice). We ordered some tater tots with cheese, gravy and jalapeños and they were soooooo good. At last the crawfish were ready and they were definitely worth the wait. They were delicious. Found this little hidden gem thanks to yelp, was able to walk here which took less than 10 minutes. Upon arrival, you have to walk through these classic cowboy doors to enter into the location where we were greeted by the lively bartender who let us know about all the current deals. During the hours that they boil crawfish, they have two-for-one deals on almost all of their drinks. They brew the crawfish and pour it all in a large bucket where you can pay $20 to get a large foam container and fill it up as much as you can, I was able to share one container with a friend and we both were extremely satisfied and full. Halfway through our meal the bartender saw us struggling with the crawfish and came over and gave us a full tutorial on how to eat crawfish correctly, she also let us go back and fill up on another round because she said we didn't get enough. Overall we paid $26 for two rounds of crawfish and two beers, you can't beat that! Their crawfish mix was delicious! It included items I would've never thought such as pineapple, two different kinds of sausage, mushroom, and many other ingredients I can't name off the top of my head. My friends and I went to the Three Legged Dog specifically for their crawfish boil. The crawfish were excellent I really enjoyed them and they totally met my expectations. Drinks were cold, crawfish were tasty but why would I only give them three stars you may ask? We were there on a Tuesday night and had to endure a drunk and obnoxious bartender. His topics of conversation we're just extremely inappropriate. I am in no way a prude, I am in no way stuck up, I in no way have my undies too tight, but this guy was just truly an a hole. He even compared drinking a shot of a certain liquor (Malort) tasting as a young boy getting raped by his father. I've been here before and had a great time and as I mentioned came back especially for their crawfish boil. I know one thing for sure the next time I go there I will not stop in if the same obnoxious drunk bartender is working. We totally noticed other patrons reacting to his comments as we did. We would have spent hours more there happily spending more money but had to get out of there because of him. We have never, however, been here during crawfish season which killed me because I absolutely love crawfish and had always heard about the boils at the Dog. Well today a dream was fulfilled.
