Recently spent 2 1/2 weeks on the Island. My daughter and I started most days with a run on the carriage trails and then hit Thrive after. The service was super-good and friendly. The food (especially the smoothies) are great. I tried a few and the combination of a hard run followed by a super-healthy was just awesome. This place nourishes in a healthy way. And, they are all over my daughter's vegetarian diet as well as her ethical avoidance of various ingredients. I couldn't recommend this place more highly. read more

Just walking in this place is refreshing! On my first visit I had the MANGO DREAM smoothie and I really enjoyed it! I also saw several vegan-friendly options in their snack case, including energy bites and vegan chocolate cake. Their salad bar also looked well stocked! I appreciated that they have both almond milk and coconut milk since most dairy-free options are usually almond milk only. On my second trip there I ordered the PURPLE MONSTER smoothie for my son and we subbed out almond milk for coconut milk. He enjoyed it! However I decided to try the GREEN SMOOTHIE BOWL and was sadly disappointed :-( IMO the fruit they used wasn't quite ripe so everything tasted overly tart yet bland. That's hard to describe but it was just steeply disappointing, especially compared to my mango dream the day before. Thw only redeeming component was their gluten-free granola, but even that couldn't save the bowls lackluster flavor for me. I actually ended up throwing half of it away. If we weren't heading out of town, I would have ended up going back for the mango dream again! I'd definitely try it out again, and I'm really wanting to try their salad bar! read more

I wish I could have tried their entire menu. From the moment you walk in, a rush of fresh herbs and homemade banana bread fill your nostrils and you are welcomed with a warm smile and a wave. They know the menu well and are willing to make substitutions or recommendations based on personal presence. Everything they use is fresh or freshly frozen for the smoothies. They have a raw juice bar, salad bar and tasty smoothies as well as immunity boosting shots. The pbnj smoothie was smooth and tasty but not overly sweet, with fresh blueberries strawberries and natural peanut butter. I can't wait to try them all ! read more

Me and sisters wanted to have a salad in Maine and stumble upon this amazing and lovely salad and juice place. The salads and juices here are fresh and very affordable. It's more affordable than the city. There's stools to sit inside and outside. There's a picnic table for bigger groups. There's a salad bar so customers can customize their own salad bowl. Coming here makes me want and be healthier. The sun blazing through the window as I eat my salad makes me so happy. Lovely place. Highly recommend this place. It can get crowded at rush hour. I want to buy and try everything here! The menu and grab-and-go selection all sound delicious. Love their grain bowls - they have a variety of options including the base, toppings, dairy, etc. I like that their topping options come as a "set" so instead of choosing toppings individually, it helps that you choose a set of toppings. I also got a couple energy/power balls for the hike and kombucha from the fridge. There's also prepacked sandwiches and salads too. Highly recommend starting the day here for nice hearty clean breakfast before a day of hiking. read more

Open from 7 to 1:00 during the winter season, I'll be back for the freshest lunch in town wi organic ingredients. It is much more than a juice bar. It is a Great place for breakfast, lunch and on the go food. They use fresh organic vegetables and fruits in their smoothies, juices and on their salad bar. They also have some great muffins and desserts, made on the premises! Since they opened last summer, I have been there a lot and have never been disappointed. I went in for breakfast late yesterday AM and ended up getting a salad from the serve yourself salad bar. Everything looked so fresh and delicious, I had to have one. I made it with freshly chopped kale, spinach, mini lentil patty, bbq garbanzos, corn, tomatoes, red peppers, cucumbers and a bunch more veggies. Their dressing are all home made as well. It was the great. They also have really nice, friendly, knowledgable staff, who seem to really love where they work and the area. That is always a huge plus especially in a tourist area. I would highly recommend Thrive to anyone coming to Bar Harbor looking for a locally owned place to get some delicious food in a hurry. You will not be disappointed. read more
