A friend recommended Thyme so I went by today, and couldn't have been happier with the experience! The restaurant itself is so cozy, and you can really see the attention to each detail. I interacted with a few people and each person was not only attentive, but very kind. The food!! I got the Super Bagel and it was better than I even expected (I had high expectations because of how nice the restaurant is). The salmon was perfect, all of the ingredients were fresh... it just came together really nicely. I can't wait to try more of the menu. This is definitely high on my recommendation list! read more

Indoor seating was crowded and limited during a busy midday, and while the outdoor seating was nice in good weather, it too was very sparse. This is a gem in the village of Rancho Santa Fe. Fresh baked quiches, muffins, etc. There is a good selection of muffins. One of my favorites is the cranberry orange coconut. It isn't too sweet and made from scratch. The place has a nice homely feel. You can eat inside, on the outside patio or side. Staff is friendly and accommodating. This is a well-known brunch / bakery spot about 5 minutes away from my house. It's usually super busy and a lot of the people who live in my neighborhood love it. Unfortunately, I have been here about a handful of times and have not had a great experience. My most recent experience made me want a leave a review because it was a slow day so my family and I actually got to sit down and eat. It's a nice, home-like atmosphere with limited seating indoors, as well as on the porch area. Aside from the ambience, we didn't enjoy the food. Our two sandwiches both came out with a different bread than what we asked for, and the lasagna came out still cold. Our best part of the meal would have been the cappuccinos and the staff once we sat down who were very helpful and nice. Their desserts are also very good and usually made fresh. Met a friend here for lunch. We talked at a table on the front porch for about 20 minutes before I discovered you have to go inside to order food. By that time all the outside tables were full, so my friend left her purse to claim our table. Once inside we saw quite a few open tables. We both had quiche and I ordered a side of bacon. The quiche had good flavor but obviously had been sitting in the deli case for a good bit. The bacon was perfectly cooked, in my opinion. I love it crispy. My friend tried to order eggs, but they don't make eggs to order after 10:30am. I also tried the fresh baked zucchini bread, and it was wonderful, as was the unsweetened tea. My friend ordered a cappuccino and said it was good,, but that she wished shed been given a spoon since the milk foam was her favorite part. When the food was paid for, they gave me a number, both drinks and the bread. I tried to hold it all, but alas I only have two hands. I asked for help and was given a serving tray. This was after giving a 20% or more tip. I wasn't mad about it, but it seemed odd. The rest of our food came out quickly and a server later came and refilled our waters and took an order for a second cappuccino. They had a sign on the table asking patrons not to stay longer than a specific number of minutes (can't remember if it was 60 or 90) because they are a small business. I totally understand this, especially since so many establishments were adversely affected by covid. Sitting outside you get a view of butterflies, birds and people in the park. But you're also fair game to friendly dogs, who may or may not be able to control themselves from jamming a wet nose into your nether regions. First time here, pretty ambiance, good service, delicious baked goods thou limited in their hot breakfast items. Type of place where you order at the counter and they bring it to you. They had a variety of quiches and I ordered the Mediterranean quiche. It was lacking in flavor and they heated it in the microwave making the phyllo dough crust rubbery and hard. The value is expensive considering how small the portion are. My quiche was a small slice served with 5 pieces of greens with no dressing topped with a flavorless watermelon. I left hungry and disappointed. Fortunately, the green tea with ginseng was delicious and the huge triple berry muffin I ordered to go was delicious. Not too sugary or oily. At least my sister enjoyed her gf bread avocado toast. You pay for the ambiance and the baked goods are a hit in this cute local spot. I took my mom out for a cup of coffee, and we decide to check out Thyme in the Ranch. It was our first time there, it is a very quaint place. They have a small outdoor covered patio, and some sitting inside as well. I ordered the roast beef, avocado, and cheddar sandwich, it was yummy. My mom ordered the Mediterranean quiche and she said it was good. Then we shared a slice of yellow cake with chocolate frosting which was delicious. Purchased a full meal, they offered me no water in a glass like other customers for table service. I went to the dispenser and got myself a tiny cup of water. I came back later in the day to purchase dessert. I asked for a larger cup of water to go because they were closing. She started pouring and then said they charge one dollar. I said no thanks. I have never been charged for water in San Diego county restaurant. They level of rudeness and condescending service was surprising. Well, hello there my favorite place in Rancho Santa Fe! Just wow! My husband and I are staying at the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe and just a few steps outside of the hotel is this gorgeous and delicious restaurant! The owner Keely is so welcoming and her place makes you feel so warm and cozy. Not only is there an amazing amount of baked goods and lunch fare, there are gift items - I love a place where I can eat AND shop! :) My steel cut oat meal was yummy and I took Keely's advice to get the cup and not the bowl - glad I did. I couldn't even finish the cup portion! My double cappuccino was perfect and the twice cooked bacon melted in our mouths! My husband had the Mediterranean quiche and loved the flavors. Of course I HAD to make a gift purchase as well! We are staying the week so we will be spending plenty of time at Thyme! read more

I loved the previous reviews which basically roasted how overly bougie this place was. I've been approximately 3 times. I live near-ish enough to feel 100% poor but also grateful to be in a beautiful area. The food I got this time was the turkey meatloaf and I opted for sourdough (toasted) no mustard l, and add cheese for me. Honestly the flavor was really great and the quality was top notch. The flavors feel fresh and healthy and truly there isn't anything about this place feels processed which is important when you eat! I also got the Monte Carlo cookie which I saw someone else try and I wasn't disappointed but I was very full. The side of macaroni salad needed a little more salt in my opinion but all in all I like this place. It doesn't get dinged for their bouginess because honestly I'm bougie and there ain't nothing wrong with that! read more

We were excited to stumble upon this charming little local cafe and bakery. As we walked in, the proprietor happily greeted us and distributed menus to each of us. We assembled in line while as we selected our choices. Both thumbs up so far! Our turn finally, as we approached the counter, unfortunately the original friendly greeter was busy, so a younger woman approached us to take our order which was perfectly fine as we expected the same level of friendly-happy-for-visiting treatment. The sour expression on her was so confusing to us that it seemed like we somehow suddenly took a wrong turn into a different neighborhood. As she unsmiling and impatiently took our order, it made us feel we had to quickly earn our place to be there. The tables had turned. After a stressful ordering process, we sat down, while consumed in our thoughts with "the treatment from the younger woman with the light hair in a bun", and waited for our food. She soon unsmilingly came to our table to plop down our order number on our table. She informed us of our wrongdoing of forgetting it, and seemed newly justified of her continued sourness. The food was brought to us by other servers that were very friendly as originally expected.
