What a fun find! I ordered a plain fried and original Korean sweet chili skewers, and really enjoyed both of them. The chicken was perfectly crunchy on the outside, and juicy on the inside. Even the plain one was seasoned well. The gal that was working said each skewer is four pieces, and I thought it wouldn't be enough, but I was wrong. I would describe each piece as comparable to 1.5 chicken nuggets? Haha. Anyway, these two skewers kept me full for the entire afternoon. I got the original Korean sweet chili that has a nice sauce but the inside chicken is really bland so you have to scoop up the sauce to enjoy. There is a good amount of breading and not much chicken inside, which further deflates the value. Standing room only - no seats but a decent amount of inside standing room and tables to enjoy if the weather is not favorable I see it used to be almost half the price a year ago - not sure why they jacked up the prices this significantly - other restaurants don't follow this pricing trend. Partner wanted tteokbokki, so this place popped up next to us. Small little shop with only a counter and much sitting area. The service was somewhat slow despite we were the only one there, waited more than 15 minutes for the food and after seeing it, surprised it cost so much for so little rice cakes. To the food review 2.8/5 - tteokbokki - I usually think it wouldn't be too bad as most rice cakes taste pretty good, but this one felt stale/cold and very stiff. Definitely lost its bounciness and chew. Felt like its old or been sitting there for a while and just tossed in the sauce. Was quite disappointed by not only the amount of rice cakes for the price but the flavor/texture of it as well. I'm surprised I haven't heard more buzz about this spot. UmmaDak was a solid option for Korean fried chicken in the international district, just across the street from the light rail station. The chicken is crispy, covered in sauce (we throughly enjoyed both the Honey Dak and UmmaDak flavors), the pieces are much bigger than bite-sized, and the mix-plate was a great deal for $14.99. The side of instant rice is just that, but was a nice addition to our meal for an extra couple dollars. The k-cabbage salad is just plain shredded cabbage, and added a needed freshness to our meal. The space is small, and there's no seating inside, just a few tables to stand at, but we enjoyed taking our meal across the street to eat outside. This place does the job for a quick chicken fix but that's about it. It's a fast casual type of place, with standing tables to enjoy your food away from the cold. Shout out to our cashier who was eager to answer questions to clarify the menu, and give suggestions for things like reducing saltiness in the fries because of how naturally salty they were! The honey butter sauce is soooo good. Probably one of the most popular items from what I've seen. The Umma sauce was solid and I'm sure the rest of the flavors are fine. However, the chicken itself is pretty flavorless. Almost like it was just directly breaded and put in the fryer. So while the flavor shines in the sauces, would be nice to have that classic KFC marinade that makes this style of chicken so good. Right outside the train station this was our first stop to our little food tour. My friend and I wanted to grab something quick as we were both super hungry. Parking can be annoying because it's Chinatown. There are two tables but no seating (stand to eat or take out). SoyDak - soy garlic was a nice blend of sweet yet salty. While mostly tender, there were some pieces a bit rougher. Not sure if it was because of the soy garlic but it did impact my overall impression. HoneyDak - honey garlic butter was my favorite. Ok so, I really liked this place! I am pretty picky when it comes to Korean Fried Chicken and I have been eating it since 1989 when it was first introduced in Korea. First off, I have to say that they have to increase the prices a bit. I just don't think that they can sustain this business charging only 10 dollars for a large bowl that includes two different flavors. Portions are very large and I feel like they can easily charge 2 or 3 dollars more for large and maybe 1 or 1.50 dollars more for the medium size. I got to try all 5 different flavors and I have to say they were decent to awesome. Plain was good and the original was just okay for me (a bit too sweet and sticky for the style and not crispy enough!). Soy and Honey Garlic Butter were awesome and the Buldac (spicy) was solid and well-balanced (although I wish it was spicier!). In addition to the chicken, we ordered the so dduk which is basically a skewer of rice cake and Korean sausages dunked in Ddukbokki (spicy and sweet chilli paste) Sauce. This was surprisingly quite authentic to how this tastes like back in Korea. Not a super complicated dish or sauce to make of course but it was very nostalgic for me. Cabbage salad is just plain chopped up cabbage with thousand island sauce on the side. I ordered it for my blood sugar level management purposes but you guys can just skip this. Service was good and the venue was clean. I think that they could maybe put some K-Pop posters (Le Sserafim would look great here) on the wall. We ate standing up since there were no seats but I thought it was just fine. Probably helped with digestion. Note quite a 5 star from me but it was very good. Employees were very welcoming and friendly as I came in right at opening. The inside had an area to order food as well as a standing area to eat your food if you decide to dine in. There was also a neat sauce bar with different flavors if you wanted to add a little bit of extra flavor to your food. Nice little spot for a quick lunch or dinner with friends or coworkers. Most of the sauce is at the bottom which will make the last few bites a bit more saucy but no complaints about that. It had a nice bite to the chunks of meat that I also really enjoyed. I believe that every item is the same base nugget tossed in different sauces. The chicken itself is pretty good, which is obviously important for a place like this. The pieces are fairly large and the chicken remains juicy in preparation. This leaves the sauces. I'm not going to lie: if you've had Kwings anywhere before, you've had most of these sauces. Their soy garlic and sweet chili are good enough, but I couldn't pick them out of a lineup. The reason I keep coming back here, though, is for the Honey Garlic Butter. This is not a taste for everyone, but it's certainly one for me. The mix of sweet, savory, and malty all in one is a taste experience and the most unique thing on offer here. They're known for their Korean fried chicken but they also have sides. They were passing out samples and I luckily was able to try their Original Korean Sweet Chili chicken. The chicken was very crispy and it was full of flavor. The service of the restaurant was good. Employees and owner were very nice and helpful with answering my questions. The food is well priced. You can get a regular bowl of chicken for $7.99 and a large for $9.99. They also have a variety of sides which look good. I enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant. It's well organized and has decorations of Seattle's sports teams and events. There's no seating inside so you'll only be able to get food to go. I'm assuming these 5 star reviews are due to the deal they offer at the register for free stuff if you show them a review so don't put too much weight into the reviews. The flavor is intense- the crust is very crispy, and the sauce amount is generous. The meat is juicy and boneless which makes it a convenient food experience.
