I had a very disappointing experience at Tierra Mia. We waited almost 20 minutes for our order, only to receive the wrong drink. I specifically ordered a regular Banana Latte with half sweetness and oat milk because I am lactose intolerant. Instead, I was given a large, full-sweet drink made with whole milk. This wasn't just a minor mistake, it meant I couldn't safely drink what I was given. What made the experience worse was the staff's attitude. They were dismissive, didn't seem apologetic, and made no effort to correct the mistake or offer a solution, even after we explained the issue. We were on a time constraint, but a sincere apology or an offer to remake the drink would have gone a long way. Customer service matters just as much as the quality of the drinks. Tierra Mia is a great coffee spot next to cal state LA. They have a little bit of seating indoor and out door. The whole place is covered in the most amazing tiles and decor. The service is fast when you order in store but they also have an online ordering option that is pretty quick too. I had a business trip all week in this area and got my daily caffeine fix here. Their espresso is wonderful and doesn't cause a crash afterwards like other places. The staff is super kind and so helpful. I know where to get my lattes when I'm in the area. read more

There was a parking lot right next to the building with 15 minute short term parking for stopping in the coffee shop. Some of the parking spots were actually covered and shaded from the sun. There was a short line when I arrived but I was in and out with my two drinks within 15 minutes. I ordered the Mocha Mexicana and the Horchata latter both hot and in a 12 oz and they were both spectacular. I also love their tres leches muffin too! They have keys on the bar to get into the restrooms. The restrooms were very clean and had paper towels. There were plenty of tables and lots of seating available even though they were decently busy. Huge location! They have so many different types of lattes and drinks here, as well as pastries. I originally got an iced pistachio latte but I didn't like it. It tasted really syrupy and just not that great. Instead, I got an iced horchata latte with oat milk. It was so delicious! It was like dessert, it's definitely a sweet treat. I got a large and towards the end it started feeling heavy and overly sweet, so if I were to get it again, I'd probably ask for it to be half sweet. At first blush, the pristine cozy interior and Latin inspired menu offering a variety of unique beverages and a plethora of enticing house-made pastries had me at HOLA. But, then my interactions with the uncooperative cashier, Gabriel, started and it all went South of the Border from there. I asked for a shot of Pumpkin in my Iced Chai, he said NO. I asked can I have it blended, he said NO. I asked for some confectioners sugar on my Cheese Delight, he said NO. Three strikes...you're OUT Bro. I was in the area and found this place on yelp. First parking lot is very small so you probably will have to park on the street. The place itself was pretty big inside. I've been to a few of these coffee shops but this one didn't feel like a Mexican coffee shop but that might just be me. The service is good there's plenty of seating, prices very reasonable. I first visited Tierra Mia in Chinatown 4+ years ago and never left a review as I have returned several times. I have ordered the frappe and latte, they are delicious. I did read reviews about bad service but i can only speak for myself, the CS for me has been fine. In one instance, the barista gave me a free frappe as they made an extra one by accident. Let me start off by saying that I've been to almost all of the Tierra Mia locations. This particular location is my 2nd favorite (Long Beach is #1). With that out of the way, let's get into all of the details! There aren't many coffee shops in my area with Latin-inspired drinks, so Tierra Mia is usually one of my go-to spots for those types of drinks. I only wish that there was a Tierra Mia location closer to the San Fernando Valley! This location has efficient service, even during their peak hours. I've visited multiple times at their busiest times, and they handle the big crowds like champs! The employees are friendly and helpful for the most part. Kudos to management, as well as the rest of the team! Consistency with the drinks can be a bit better at times, but still good overall. Tierra Mia features a vibrant ambiance with both indoor and outdoor seating options. Upon entering the establishment, you get hit with a burst of absolute loudness. If you are looking for a cozy ambiance, this is not the coffee shop for you. The parking can definitely be an issue, too. Parking tends to get very tight on weekends, particularly during the evenings. I've tried their Mocha Mexicano, Horchata Latte, Horchata Frappe, Coco Loco Latte, Strawberry Lemonade and their Tres Leches Muffin. Let's start with the Mocha Mexicano. That is actually my go-to drink. It reminds me of hot chocolate mixed with espresso. It is a very delicious drink, when made correctly. There's been times when the drink tastes too bitter, but that hasn't been the case recently. Now for the Horchata Latte. Their horchata latte is a sweet and creamy drink, but it is not the best. Their horchata doesn't taste as authentic as I would like it to taste. The horchata frappe is plagued by the same issue that I just mentioned above. Now for the Coco Loco latte. I was not a fan of the Coco Loco latte. It tasted like a very bitter coconut latte. I don't know if I just got unlucky with the barista that made the drink, but I don't see myself ordering it again. Let's talk about the Strawberry Lemonade. I was very impressed with that drink. It had a nice balance of strawberry and lemonade, with neither one being overpoweing. It is a very refreshing drink, especially on a hot summer day/night. Last but not least, let's talk about the Tres Leches Muffin. That muffin alone is worth the trip to Tierra Mia. The muffin is usually very moist, indulgent and bursting with authentic tres leches flavor. It is the perfect companion for any of their lattes or frappes Overall, Tierra Mia has a lot of good, but also has some things that need to improve. With that being said, I highly recommend their Mocha Mexicano, and their tres leches muffin. Found this cafe on a whim and totally love it. Pricing for the large drinks totally reasonable and lots of choices to choose from. Met a good friend here after going to a funeral. They have an indoor and outdoor area, which made it perfect for us to debrief and catch up. I drove up from San Diego early in the morning so coffee was needed for the late night drive home. You walk in the door and can't help but get caught up in the energetic vibe. I've tried the horchata latte (iced), mocha Mexicano (hot), the tres leches muffin, and the guava cheese pastry. Overall I've been really satisfied with everything. I preferred the horchata latte to the mocha -- not sure if it was just me but it seemed less sweet than the mocha which I preferred. The flavor profile was over all really good. As for the pastries, all were really good. The tres leches was moist but rich. I could only have half at a time. The guava cheese pastry was really good though. I thought it was priced fairly and well-prepared. The cafe gets busy but the staff are really friendly and very quick. I like the energy / vibe.
