Stopped in here for lunch with my boyfriend while we were staying at a near by hotel. Hostess was really friendly and accommodating. We waited about 10 minutes for a server to come by for drink orders. Once server showed up, though she was friendly. The food was good. I had the honey sriracha shrimp tacos, and my boyfriend had the pulled pork sandwich. Everything tasted great. Would consider coming back but probably wouldn't seek it out again. While visiting downtown Chicago from Nashville , we needed a nice location to watch the Tennessee Titans game on a Sunday. This spot was perfect. The service was excellent, the food was great and the drinks hit the spot. We had TV near our seats and enjoyed the entire game. There we several TV's for a lot of NFL games. Service was horrible, I'm of age to drink alcohol wouldn't allow me to order a drink because I had an 18 year old with me, totally understand went up to the bar by MYSELF!! Met up with a couple colleagues here for drinks. I arrived late and ventured down the stairs to the pub. ID was checked before entering. Hmmm, must cater to a more youthful crowd? Stepped inside and it was packed at 6pm. Fortunately my colleagues saved me a seat at the bar. They had already ordered drinks, so I glanced at the menu. Quite a selection of beers to choose from, but I settled on a glass of Chardonnay wine. However, it took me another 5 minutes to flag a bartender's attention to place my drink order. Plenty of tv's with different sports playing on each tv, so it seems a great spot to watch a game with a group. Plus, some pool tables to have your own competition. I was given one tip from my friend Steph P. when visiting Chicago. Mostly along the lines 'there was this bar near my hotel I went to three times during my weekend work trip. They have every beer you can imagine. Pages and pages of beer.' I vaguely remembered her texting me during one of these sessions when she was geeking out and sending me screenshots of the beer menu. So naturally of course I had to come here when I found out it was like a ten minute walk from my hotel. I literally dragged my sister out of the hotel when my dad and brother said they were going to rest and take a nap before dinner. Told her we were going to go window shopping and accidentally deliberately guided us here. It was pretty packed when I came in on a friday late afternoon, early evening. So many televisions. But it more than made up with how many beers there actually were on tap. I tried a stout from Iowa that I would probably never see in my life ever again and she went with the 10 Lords a Leaping from Bruery that I heavily persuaded her into since I've had 8 Maids a Milking before and it's glorious. Drinks were a bit pricey but I also ordered not on the happy hour (which is generally only select drafts). But I still had a good time and hey, we were on vacation. Worth the trip. read more

Was looking for a late night spot near Northwestern Hospital. I had been to Otooles a long time ago and they stay open late. The waitress was sweet and friendly, had a blueberry cider and a brown ale, both good. The ghost pepper Irish wings were decent in size, good flavor and decent heat. We have found this place to be a reliable go-to for us after we've seen a show downtown. Often by the time we get out of a show, many places are closed or closing and we want a drink or need to eat. It can be loud and sometimes there are large groups, but overall it is a good bar atmosphere. The food is decent bar food, and plenty of drinks to choose from. Bar with really yummy drinks. I got the Prickly Pear Margarita and hubby got the Blueberry Margarita. Both were fruity and refreshing. Warning. They don't do any frozen drinks. But everything else is banging. I promise you won't miss them. Bobby B. was our bartender and he don't missssssssss. Their kitchen closes before 1am on Sunday. Last call is like 120-130am on Sundays. Lots of options, but they're going to charge a lot more if you want meat added to just about anything. For example, on GrubHub it shows a Chicken Caesar Wrap for $8.00+...when you click into the item, it only has Romaine, croutons, Parmesan and dressing for $8, then you have to pay $5 more for chicken. $13 for a wrap? That's a bit excessive, in my opinion. AND a sneaky way of putting it. They have at least ONE keto-friendly option (which is what I'm looking for lately). The keto bowl is really tasty and, although my eyes were disappointed with the portion size, my stomach considered it sufficient. But my frugal mind objected loudly. A steak keto bowl was $21. *Doubletake* There was maybe a taco's worth of steak in this thing, a nice scoop of guacamole, a scoop of pico de gallo, about a cup of riced cauliflower, a scoop of feta cheese and about a half cup of some sort of cabbage slaw. The lemony sauce made it really stand out in flavor, but deliciousness aside, I can't see how the hell this cost $21! I would definitely re-order this on someone else's dime, but never in my life would I pay $21 out of my own pocket for this dish! I'm assuming the same goes for most of their food. Delicious, but probably way overpriced for fancy/glorified bar food. Four stars simply for the flavor, though. I'd usually knock it down for not being worth the value, but it WAS tasty and I really appreciate having a keto option that I don't have to nitpick things out of the dish. read more

My girlfriend and I came in to watch the Bears Hall of Fame game and to have drinks and dinner. It was bustling, but it did not appear to be overly busy. We found a spot at the bar and ordered a beer and a cocktail. As the bartender delivered the drinks, I told her that we would like some chips & salsa for a starter (we were looking forward to sharing a burger and fish & chips). The bartender then disappears. After ten minutes we asked the other bartender about the chips & salsa, understanding that it is not a difficult order to fill. The other bartender begins investigating, and it appears that the order was never entered. At the fifteen minute mark the original bartender returns. She reeks of marijuana and offers us a sheepish look which suggested that she forgot to enter our appetizer order. At this point we paid for our drinks and left. It was disappointing: the television setup was perfect to watch the game, the place had a lively vibe, and the menu looked great. I really wish our experience had been better here. read more

This place is above and beyond in the field of late night dive bars! We stopped in around 10pm on a Saturday and got a table right away. The service was friendly and quick, the food was surprisingly great (we were fully prepared for typical dive/sports bar food), and the atmosphere was welcoming. This place could be amazingly fun. But no. We went in for a drink so we just went to the bar. I sat my drink on a table to take off my jacket. A waitress walks up and said if you want a table you have to see the hostess. Then said every time you set something on the tables I have to sanitize it again. And I have told you a couple times. Really girl Really! Whoa! Funny thing was this was the first time I had even see her. The next night our friends were having a private party at this bar. After the party we went to the main bar to get more drinks. I received my drink first. So I step back away from the bar and I was about 2 feet away from the table. I come here about once or twice a year in January for the past 6 years. The menu is pretty decent and we always receive great service. Some favorites are the fish and chips, macaroni and cheese and any of their salads. They have a great beer selection also! One of my favorite beers is on the menu, Allagash White. read more

I love this pub! Visit if you're in the look for a properly poured Guinness and some delicious bar food. Their burgers and sandwiches are tasty,nothing outstanding, but good for bar food. Their fish and chips is far above what you'd expect from a bar! Crispy but not over battered and not greasy at all. Their cocktails are also good, but it's an Irish pub...get the Guinness. Oh, and they have dozens of TVs surrounding the bar area so you can watch any game and sport that's on that day. read more

I say surprising because we hadn't heard of it when we were planning our trip to Chicago and just happened to pass it, saw the sign that it had been in Man v Food and decided to stop in for lunch. We came on a Friday around 1pm, we got right in, we're greeted right away, and our food came very quickly. We started with the buffalo chicken egg rolls (AMAZING), a cup of baked potato soup & French onion soup then I got the chicken Mac n cheese and my boyfriend ordered the Little Timmy burger. It was all fresh, HOT, and had a really great flavor! As a pro tip, if you like spicy stuff, ask for some of the ghost pepper sauce to mix into the potato soup. The security guard on the night of Friday, Apr 30 who claimed to be the manager had no sense of how to manage the waiting guests and was derogatory and seemed to racially profile all the guests and pass unfavorable comments. This is absolutely not acceptable. After so many complaints against him, he should be fired immediately. There is no room for racism and in my opinion, these kind of people are probably the reason why the black community is marginalized even in this day of equality and racial tolerance. ZERO STARS!! This place is SUPER RACIST. We asked for water and napkins and it seemed like she turned into another person. She slammed the serving tray and stormed off. We thought she had fallen but she was throwing a temper tantrum. Timothy O'Toole's is a great spot to hang out for the night. The bar isn't usually overcrowded and it's also easy to get a table if need-be. Their bartenders make pretty good drinks at an affordable price and the beer selection is good. You can expect the bar food taste when ordering from the kitchen, but it's good enough to drink with in my opinion. My burger was a little heavy on the seasoning, and I don't remember what appetizer I got, but I didn't much care for it. Great hangout spot for sure, however. read more

Admittedly, the first time I passed Timothy O'Toole's, I thought the place was dead and refused to go inside. It was October - my friend and I walked by it and didn't see anyone around so we thought the bar was dead and kept moving. A few months later, I found myself back in Chicago with my dad who insisted we go there because they offered trivia. (We love trivia!) I realize now why I didn't see anyone. You have to walk downstairs to actually get into the pub. Once you go down, you'll find a bunker-style restaurant and bar. There's a lot of seating so we were surprised to find the entire bar full and many of the tables occupied. We arrived during an off hour so I'm assuming this place gets packed during normal peak hours. We were seated at a high top near the bar so we had access to TVs around us. Our server - I asked for his name because he was wonderful but of course I forgot - worked hard to get us our Buzztime trivia boxes. The polar vortex forced a lot of their stuff offline, and they hadn't gotten time to put the trivia cables back. He spoke to his superiors several times and kept us updated until it was back up. Buzztime was the main reason we came and we really appreciated someone working so hard to get it for us. Timmy's draft list is long and interesting. My dad ordered a few different offerings while I stuck to a nitro stout. (If a nitro stout is available I will always choose that first.) The menu has your typical bar offerings with some surprising options mixed in. I'm trying to limit my carb intake (food wise; don't you dare try to take beer from me!) so I ordered wings and a Caesar salad. They were able to accommodate the well done request but couldn't give me all flats. Not a huge deal but a slight letdown. I had the garlic butter and Irish ghost sauces on the side. My dad did the boneless wing chipotle BBQ basket with garlic Parmesan fries. Our food came out hot and fresh, and the Buzztime boxes followed. The Irish ghost sauce lived up to the spice hype but also had a nice flavor to it. I especially loved the garlic butter. It was like pizza joint garlic butter which is my absolute favorite. I had an obnoxious amount of sauces so I begrudgingly shared my butter with my dad...my fatass would have bottled it up to take home. My dad enjoyed his food but said the chipotle sauce didn't have the kick he thought it would. It was tasty nonetheless and he finished his food. My dad said Timmy's was the perfect bar experience for him. Busy but not overly so, impressive draft selection, and food and service that exceeds expectation. I'm sorry I slept on Timothy O'Toole's. I wouldn't hesitate to go back when I'm Chicago. read more
