Meh...classic bar food, warm beer, friendly waitress and hostess. Food was barely warm when we finally got it. Oil really needs to be changed. Mac n cheese was not very creamy. Fish and chips were pretty fishy tasting. Egg rolls are a great idea but poorly executed. And super dark down there. Lots of TV's. read more

I use to love Timothy O'Tooles wings. But you can tell that they mostly reheat wings that must be already over cooked. The bones aren't even warm. Meat is mushy or hard on the outside. They use to win contests for wings must not care anymore. read more

Great local sports bar, plenty of seating, tvs to watch whatever you wish, and plenty of great food options. The burger I ordered with pork belly was delicious...but I wish I brought more of an appetite to eat because it was huge and couldn't finish it. Still hit the spot though. Is going to an Irish Pub in Chicago cliche'... I have never been one to follow trends or rules, especially when it comes to food. Timothy O'Toole's Pub is located downtown not far from Michigan ave near the hospital, and after a couple steps down into the belly of the beast you are transported to sports bar heaven. Timmy's is decievingly large compared to the small front doors area but the subterranian location makes it the perfect location for rowdy sports and suds. The menu was also very nice for a pub with many interesting choices outside the common pub grub. My grilled turkey sandwich was absolutely amazing and would fit on any upscale menu in much pricier establishments in and around Chicago. Our fried pickels were also cooked perfectly and complimented the cold and plentiful drinks we had flowing this night. Prices were what I would call family friendly and the food was very good but the service is what set Timmy's apart from just another Pub. Having a hospital just down the street just might come in handy the next time I decide to visit Timothy's because next time I'll be ready to bring it, Al;oha read more

A solid spot for an impromptu meal! Stopped by this pub with some friends and had a garlic parm bone-in basket of wings. Our servers checked up on us regularly and made us feel right at home. Quality food and quality service. Nothing beats that! read more

I Live for this place! Drinks are good and the food is awesome! This place is a true Chicago Bar! Everyone was friendly and me being Super Demanding Man I came here twice on August 7 2019. Both times were incredible and the lady bartender took time to educate and coach me on exactly WTF an IPA beer is! I came to Chicago for my 30th bday weekend and around 7pm on a Friday, you guessed it, you cannot get in ANYWHERE to eat... ACCEPT this little pub here! They were so quick in getting us sat down. And thank God because I was HANGRY!! The food is typical bar food but it was all really good and fresh with fast and polite service. I was sitting at the bar with my out of town friend who recommended this place as this place is a minute away from hotel. Food was good and ambience was cheerful with lots of patrons for sports TV but these two young girls were not attentive enough. I had beef slider with coleslaw and never got fork so that me and my friend were trying to have eye contact with them for decent 10 mins. (No apology was given as expected) And when we checked out, I asked for takeout box and that box size must be a joke as I had to squeeze 2 leftover sliders with coleslaw in tiny little box and it was all juiced over the box and again, not even single word saying "thank you, good night" My friend recommended this place as he was there other night and make bartender kept asking and checking on him to make sure his food is okay and if he needs anything else and my friend thought it was a very good attentive service. Not sure these two young girls are just backup who were asked to come to work while scheduled bartenders had a sick call or something or if these young girls are family member of owner but it was really bad customer service as I saw them chatting with each other while customers were not getting basic items such as fork and customer never got any greeting for departure. read more

Great atmosphere, strong drinks, best wings in downtown Chicago imo. Always feel taken care of by Bobby, Alex, and Kiersten. Sometime I stop by just for a beer to chat with them on slow night. Johnny is by far the best and nicest bouncer I've met in Chicago, always has my back, very friendly and accommodating, looks out for the staff and always has an ear to ear smile when you're coming down those infamous stairs! Food 4/5: I thought the food was pretty good. It's bar food so it was definitely nothing special, but I really did enjoy my meal. I did order the spinach artichoke dip, which I order at every restaurant if they have it on the menu and this one was one of my least favorites (definitely a personal opinion). I would try other items on the menu if I'm in the area. The food is worth the price for the area and location. Atmosphere 4/5: It's a traditional bar that has plenty of TVs so you can watch a variety of games. It was pretty loud inside, but it's the perfect location for a casual bite or drink with friends. Service 4/5: Service was average. We did have to ask the waitress for refills, check, etc but it was pretty busy on a Friday night. read more

Nice Irish pub, right across from Doubletree hotel. We all liked our food - burger, chicken sandwich, and meatloaf. Service was good. Good selection of beers. Take on the Big Timmy burger and get a free TShirt if you finish it. Burger wasn't an issue for our guest, but the ribs of fries slowed him down. read more

The Chicago Fire was cooked and seasoned great. The only complaint is was that it was advertised as very hot but as you can see, it was just a line of sriracha. I'm not one to write a review, as a bartender myself, but I had the worst experience tonight. Had a bartender in the back bar who couldn't care less about good service, and then made cocktails with barely an ounce of liquor. Not only did we have to ask for an extra shot for it to be a normal cocktail, he charged for top shelf. When I asked why he charged me for Casamigos, he lied and said that was their house liquor; I even checked with a different bartender and they said that was not their house tequila. The bartender made it seem like we were a nuisance while he was watching the football games. The only saving Grace of this place is their food, otherwise, I would've left after the first drink. read more

A classic after work spot. Drinks are good and relatively inexpensive. Always get the boneless wings with buffalo sauce and ranch, with a side of fries. Always hits the spot after a long day. Service can be slower if they're really packed, but everyone's super nice and attentive. Timmy's offers drink specials daily, and it's always a good selection. A great place to watch your favorite sports, as there's multiple TVs throughout. Can get pretty loud in there but it is a bar so to be expected. Parking is available in the garage down the street, and discounts offered to Northwestern employees as well! read more

Good food and we had great service. You walk down some stairs and it opens up in to a very large Pub with pool tables. There is plenty of seating options so don't be afraid to check it out. Food wise what we ordered was fine. No complaints! Beer list is long and they have a full bar that can make any drink that you want. They close at 3:00 am but I believe the food stops between 1:30 and 2:00. Close to hotels and the area felt safe. read more

Food challenge? Sign me up, said I -- as my tummy cringed with the aftershocks caused by this thought, a greasy spoon breakfast was only a few hours earlier. But logic and reason was completely out the window at this point and to further this, I dazzled up a round of the super dark beer known as Half Acre Vanilla Big Hugs. Big Timmy arrived looking confidently delicious, I needed to set my dial to Beast Mode --- AND GO! Getting coaching by text and encouragement by bar folk, I had Timmy rattled, throwing bitten and chewed combos and then he was gone. Then his potato bodied big brother showed up. He was lean and mean, big and bad -- pointing those French fry fingers at me. I thought to myself that my only chance was to hit him hard, so I reached out and pressed my face in. Resurfacing from the fray in my tray, my face was cheesy and grease began to drip from my hands and it was then that I began to see my impending defeat looming. Just... no. Maybe if you're 22. You will feel like you're at a frat party - loud, meh food, crappy service, young 20s flirting and drunk. A warning: this is in no way an Irish pub. I'll give it one star because I have to, but the doorman guy earned it on his own - super nice. read more

This is a good place with good food options. It can get crowded on the weekends, but the staff seem to stay on top of it. We first came in upon arriving in Chicago. Our hotel bar had closed and we need a post-train libation. Fortunately, this place was just down the block. We got beers and an appetizer. The bartenders took good care of us and the food was quite good. We came back two days later for a lunch before departing. Everything was really good and the servers took good care of us. It is noisy; like any sports bar. Yet, it is a solid go-to if you are in the neighborhood. read more

Sara McKinnon is the co-owner/operator of Timothy O'Toole's Pub in Chicago and Gurnee. Sara has owned and operated several restaurant/bar concepts in the Chicagoland area over the past 22 years including upscale bistro's, sports bars, a cigar lounge, martini bar and a funky, mellow lounge. Sara is passionate about the restaurant and bar business with a focus on creating winning concepts, menu development, cocktail programs and front of the house service. All the meals were outstanding (a sliced brisket sandwich, some wings, chicken tenders, onion rings and a burger). Service was great. It was a little loud when we first arrived as there was an intense Illinois State basketball game on but as soon as the game ended, it was much quieter. We really enjoyed our meal at Jake's!

Came here after our company's Christmas party to grab some drinks and mingle some more. The crowd is chill and mixed and just a fun atmosphere. We played a game of darts, sat around and talked and people watched and drank some dranks. Great bar located in the heart of downtown and it was pretty poppin for a Thursday night.

The food from Theory never disappoints. Last year, I had the Theory Burger and was delighted by how good it was. This year, I tried the Challah French Toast and it was pleasantly delicious. The Mac and Cheese was also a solid choice, and for $8, they provided a good amount of food! And that Chicken Parm Egg Roll...wow they were so good!! I was skeptical from the name, but this was like having a pizza roll but in egg roll form The only reason I am giving this place 4 stars is because Theory has severely up charged for the Champions League. I recall last year a reservation was $5/person, but this year they charged $15/person. For this reason, we came in at 9AM opening time for an 8-person table and were able to get one without having to pay the reservation fee. I really like how organized Theory is though, as a sports bar. Service has always been great and I may come again for another game!

We requested a more comfortable seating. After a disappointing meal, then we waited for a long time to get our bill as the server was in a different room doing something herself. We had to go grab her. She dropped off bill, then she disappeared again. We had to once again to get up to find her... with just one customer on the house, I can't imagine how busy she is for paying no attention to her customer. I will never come here again for sure!

The menu includes a wide variety of salads, wings, wraps, sandwiches and, my favorite, burgers. I was with a group of 4 and we all ordered burgers - and none of us opted for the same burger. So, our little group got to try 4 different burgers. And all four were delicious. Three of us ordered with a side of fries - also delicious. Great place for dinner in the Windy City.

I entered the place on a Wednesday night and it wasn't busy at all. They ave a security guard posted at the door for reasons unknown to me but raised an eyebrow. The host greeted and seated me right away. I was seated at a booth that had lots of crumbs on the seats which says to me you're need retrained at cleaning especially since the place was slow. The server was very nice and helpful but I didn't get his name unfortunately. I iordered the half slab of ribs and 1/4 chicken with side of green beans which also came with corn on cob and Cole slaw. I also had a slice of apple pie to go. Everything came out pretty quick and temp was good. Sorry no pics this time though but it resembles what others have posted. So let me just jump right in on the ribs. They were ABSOLUTELY no where to being on a top 10 list of ribs so not sure where or who gave them the title of (best) but it definitely falls in the category of false advertisement. They were pretty tough and flavor was average at best. The chicken was moist and pretty good as were all the sides. The best part for me was the apple pie. Definitely changed my mood after the disappointment of the ribs. I'm not condemning this place but I can't recommend it either based on the misleading rib statement so proceed with caution!
