I came here on a weekday evening, and when I ordered, I had to repeat my order like 4 times before the lady at the register got my food correct. She kept repeating it back to me incorrectly, and while there was a long line behind me to order, she was on her phone on the side of the counter rather than taking orders. She also had one of her arms inside of her shirt, while I was ordering food, it was uncomfortable. I ended up waiting about 45 min to get my take out order... For fast casual food, that was entirely too much time. Everyone who was waiting with us, they all waited about the same time, but this is not normal for other Tin Drum locations. This was my first time at this location after recently discovering the Tin Drum on briarcliff. I did a delivery order through ubereats. The first thing I noticed is that this location appears to have an expanded menu compared to the other one. Located in a shopping plaza in Decatur. Plenty of parking. This was my first time in the actual restaurant. They cater for my job often. I took my pregnant friend so she could enjoy it also. The Citrus pad Thai is amazing. She had the citrus teriyaki glaze bowl with white rice & fried chicken. That glaze was boss. If you check in on Yelp you get a crab cheese roll. I give the new Tin Drum in Decatur 3 stars. It's OK. Currently, this is Tin Drum's newest location. At the time of writing this review, it's different than the other Tin Drum locations because it's the first to reflect the company's rebrand and new concept. This location has a different look and menu. This location opened in February 2019 in the new North Decatur Square development, anchored by a Whole Foods 365. At the time of writing this review, there are 11 Tin Drum locations in metro Atlanta. The location at North Druid Hills and Briarcliff is the first of the existing locations to relaunch under the new concept. I first visited this location in Decatur in March 2019 for a Yelp event (https://www.yelp.com/biz/yee-yelps-new-taste-of-tin-drum-decatur) and have since returned as a regular customer. This review is based on my experience as a regular customer. This new Tin Drum looks great. It reminds me of when I visited the first Tin Drum when it opened on Georgia Tech's campus in 2003. It looks hip, modern, and cool with a fun Asian street vibe to it. The space feels open and inviting. There's an awesome mural on the dining room wall, a cute marketplace with T-shirts, Asian candies, and other neat stuff, and my favorite part -- bright and colorful signs that evoke the illuminated street signs of big Asian cities. Tin Drum's cuisine is Pan-Asian, so you'll find everything from Chinese to Thai to Indian. Rice, noodles, sandwiches, salads, and more. What I like about Tin Drum is it's a good value. You get generous portions for the price you pay. Rice and noodle bowls cost anywhere from $8.80 to $12.00 each. All other items are $7.00 or less. My fiancee and I visited for a Saturday night dinner and here's what we got: * Singapore Curry Chow Men (with grilled chicken, $8.80) - rice noodles, cabbage, carrot, onion, mushroom, scallion, jalapeno, egg * Phuket Woon Sen (with grilled chicken, $8.80) - vermicelli, cabbage, carrot, onion, mushroom, scallion, egg * Koreano Slider (single, $4) - fried catfish, gochujang (Korean red pepper sauce), pickled daikon and carrot, sesame oil, buttermilk bun * Veggie Spring Roll ($1.50) * Crunchy Chicken Potstickers (3 for $3) In general, the food was fine. The bowls were our favorites. Unfortunately, the slider and potstickers were underwhelming. I liked the Singapore Curry Chow Men and the Phuket Woon Sen about the same. The Singapore Curry Chow Men is one of my old Tin Drum favorites. I've always liked the noodle texture, fluffy egg, crisp jalapeno, and savory curry flavor. I think the curry flavor could have been stronger in the bowl I had here. This was my first time having the Phuket Woon Sen at Tin Drum and it was more flavorful than I expected. I liked the vermicelli a lot. It was tasty and addictive. The chicken in both bowls was cut into big chunks, especially in the Woon Sen. The meat was tender enough. When you order chicken, you have the option of having it grilled or fried. I think the chicken in both bowls could have been seasoned better. The Koreano Slider didn't taste as good as it looked. The sandwich was served open with shredded pickled daikon and carrot piled high on top of a fried catfish fillet with gochujang. Our entire order came out pretty quick except for the slider, perhaps because they fried the catfish fresh? The slider wasn't packed with the amount of flavor we were hoping. The texture seemed a bit off too. This wasn't a bad sandwich, but I wouldn't order it again. Along with fried catfish, fried chicken is an option in the Koreano Slider too. If you order catfish, be careful; there were a couple small bones in the catfish I ate. I hate to say it, but the Crunchy Chicken Potstickers were no better than the frozen potstickers you can get at H Mart. I don't recommend them. They were indeed crunchy with thick and crispy skins, but that was the only thing memorable about them to me. As for the Veggie Spring Roll, it was par for the course. Not bad. Service was great. The cashier and the lady bussing tables were helpful and attentive. This is a fast-casual restaurant. Drinks are self-serve (they have self-serve Thai tea). Takeout is a popular option. Tin Drum is on top of things when it comes to their website and app. You get freebies if you install the Tin Drum app. Also, they have a loyalty rewards system. read more

Rating this based on being a fast causal restaurant. Hadn't eaten at any Tin Drum because it wasn't specific as to what type of Asian country or area. Food is decent but the service is poor. I placed a large online order and had a quick question about one of the menu items. The first employee that I spoke to didn't know the answer to my very simple question so he passed it off to the manager. The manager answered my question but was very short with me. He essentially answered the question and then promptly hung up. Then my friend went to go pick up the order and she texted me that the service was poor. They did not label our to-go containers as requested, they forgot items from our order, they were out of fries (who runs out of fries??). The packaging of the boba is by far the most unprofessional I've seen - just look at it lol. It also wasn't a complete seal because as I was shaking mine up to mix it, milk tea started dripping out. This new location in Decatur which is so close to my work place that I will start being regular or will visit at least more frequently. I like their new look or should say great ambiance. The menu is so different from other locations and have so many new items, including few Indian stuff of my favorites like Bombay Pav Bun with Tikka Dip, Creamy Curry Spicy Tikka bowl and Sliders which are the most popular street eat in India. It's called Pav! I have tried their bowl item which was the Singapore Curry Chow Mein with Shrimp which is made of Rice noodle, cabbage, carrot, onion, mushroom, scallion, jalapeno and egg. Also tried their not-in-a-bowl item was the Spring roll Lettuce Wrap which was super refreshing veggie spring roll meal. Made of butter lettuce, seasonal herbs, carrot, cucumber, shallot crunch, toasted peanut, chili lime dressing. I enjoyed both my bowl and "not-in-a-bowl" selections of food. Good portions of the meal and very presentable. Very tasty and yummy. I really liked the spice levels of the food where you don't have to pour more Sriracha to it. I also had an orange soda drink from their fountain section. I had a chance to meet some of the cool staff of Tin Drum over here. Tin Drum is great healthy fast food place. Also very reasonable prices. Shrimp with panang curry (pictured) was very good. They give you 2 bowls: one with rice, and one with the entree. I let the main dish sit for several minutes to allow the panang sauce to infuse the shrimp and vegetables. The rice was sticky, which made it better. Having 2 bowls is clever and lets you pour the main dish on the rice at your leisure. Great idea! Upon entering, order at the counter, and they give you a number to place on your table. Grab a soft drink at the soda area. Then they bring you your food. Also nice outdoor seating. The manager stopped by and chatted for awhile. This location has only been open for several months and is in new super nice Decatur plaza with plenty of free parking. The manager mentioned they are refreshing the menu with more options here and they have done a good job. She was very helpful and the staff was very helpful. I've been wanting to check out this place for forever. Finally my daughter requested takeout from here for her birthday meal. It took over an hour to prepare, even though we ordered well after the dinner rush. They left off the boba tea we had ordered for her. There was a staple in the (cold) fries. And the food largely lacked flavor. It was mostly just spicy, but not in a good way. The sandwiches were bland and over-fried. The firecracker cauliflower was pretty good. The food is not good. It's watery, soggy, saucy and mostly rice. Good luck finding the veggies and meat the description says it's supposed to have. Girl packaging food had no mask on. The menu was very descriptive and the pictures look exactly like the meal. I personally didn't like the noodles the were very thick not like typical thin ramen noodles. The Ramen is also drenched in ginger I am a ginger lover but it's just a bit much for my taste. The cashier was sweet but wasn't very helpful as far as assisting first time customers with ordering. Terrible customer service. I have come here a few times (the newest location) and the staff just isn't friendly or inviting. I was standing at the counter to order for some time. Not once did the young lady signal and say she'd be with me, or anything at all. She made eye contact but didn't say a word, no hand gesture, no smile...nothing. She returned still didn't say a word. Recently I've ordered a few things: chicken potstickers, veggie roll, chicken lettuce wrap, Chinatown Lo mein, sweet and savory sesame chicken, and their new Boba tea. The chicken potstickers and vegetable roll were pretty average and likely frozen. The Lo mein was pretty standard too. I was actually impressed by the chicken Lettuce wrap and the sesame chicken (I ordered it on the spicier side). The boba tea was also just OK- a bit too watery in my opinion. We stood at the counter for a good 10 mins while workers walked about the restaurant saying nothing to us. Three of the workers, including the manager, were sitting and having lunch and also acted like we were invisible. I'm very patient. The least you can do is say someone will be right with you. I found myself pleasantly surprised at Tin Drum. A fellow yelper was actually the person who put me on to Tin Drum at a yelp event, and a few days later I decided to check it out. Good eats! The first thing that you probably will notice after the food are the vibrant colors all over the place including tin drum rotating tower near the counter! But it's the food, not the colors you're interested in right? So what did I get?? I was all set to get their green curry, but was told they don't sell it at this location. I decided on their Chinatown Lo Mein ($8.80). Provided in a bowl, you actually get a decent amount of wheat soba noodles along with mushroom, cabbage, carrots, onion and scallions. Not as greasy as I thought, not as flavorless as I thought. In fact the flavors here were really good, even as a to go order! Customer service here was informative and nice, and parking was plentiful, being in the Wholefoods 365 lot. Interior was spacious, clean, not surprising since this is a fairly new location.
