Okay this place was a LOT of fun!. They are still working on the mural outside, but we got to see what it is supposed to look like when done, and it's going to be very cool. I was there with the whole family, and we tried a lot of stuff. We tried the cotton candy flavors; all of them were really good, my favorite was the grape, very fruity! We also tried about 7 different lemonade flavor combos, the only one we did not care for was the Salted Caramel, but the rest of them were really good, and they made them all fresh squeezed to order. There was one that was Kiwi Watermelon and I think we all agreed that was the very best one. I also had my first ever funnel cake here! (literally do not know why I have never tried funnel cake before.) It was very tasty, and it was HUGE I could not finish it. I got it with the caramel sauce, I think next time I might get it with just the powdered sugar and ask for some fresh lemon wedge to squish over it. It tasted like it would be good like that. Two of us got shave ice, and really liked that. The employees were super nice, and very energetic. We will for sure be going back. Sad to say that I do not agree with the overwhelmingly positive reviews on this place. It's a fun concept - beautiful and spacious interior and a palace for sweet carnival treat lovers. Also cheap prices! So what's NOT to love? First and foremost, walking in gave us a huge whiff of a high school locker room smell. I couldn't really figure out why it was stuffy and smelly, but it definitely was not the food being prepared. Please consider having a better air ventilation system or just simply keep the door and windows open. Second, there were items on the menu(s) that were actually not being sold. They were not sold out - just simply not sold. So why not update the menu? Third and honestly unforgivable reason is the images I attached here. That's one scoop and two scoops of ice cream. Very cheap prices! But WHAT is THAT? A spoon of Great Value vanilla ice cream in a... to-go condiment/sauce cup??? Also, asked this to-go and they put in a large plastic bag lol. What exactly am I holding? This entire concept is so fun and exciting, but barely anything even met the slightest expectations of a "carnival themed" shop. Finally got to try this place. They're open Wednesday through Sunday. It's pretty spacious inside and I love the oversized games. The woman up front was very friendly. We ordered the deep fried s'mores, blue raspberry shaved ice, mini churros, and funnel cake. Ordering and waiting for the food took longer than expected. I usually have to wait for special events or festivals with dessert vendors to come to SJ, or travel to Santa Cruz or SF to get my fix of this sweet treat. And most places aren't open late. So I'm glad to have discovered Tiny's Carnival in downtown SJ who just had their grand opening this past weekend. Not only do they serve funnel cakes here, but they are GOOD funnel cakes, made just like what you'd get at an actual carnival, possibly even better. I ordered mine with strawberry and chocolate drizzle for $8. It came with whipped cream on top and strawberry slices. It was tasty and sweet, but not too sweet. Just right. It was also freshly made, with delicious fried dough, crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. The setting was clean and bright, with playful and colorful artwork on the walls and ample seating, as well as a small bar with TV's. Service was friendly, and wait time was minimal. Note, they only accept cash, Zelle, or Apple Pay (no credit card payments as of Feb 2026). That's a bit inconvenient for me, but I was pleased with my overall experience nonetheless. read more

My coworker recommended this place as we all worked fairly close to this location. I had never tried a fried Oreo before and was eager to try after hearing how good they were. They have maybe 3-4 different options of Oreos but I decided on the regular one since it was my first time. It was so so good and now I can't wait to try all the other flavors. My biggest worry with fried food is the oil being old or tasting burnt but this was far from that and can tell by color as well. We also tried the lemonade and corn which was so good. I noticed this spot driving by after my flight. I said to my boyfriend, "Funnel cake sounds good.." We gave each other a look and decided to try it out. It was a Friday night and there was a celebration for the soccer match so the streets were quite busy. We walked in around 11:00pm, not many customers despite how lively it was. I absolutely love the interior and wish I took a better picture. The artist was committed to replicating the feeling of being at a fair. Absolutely loved the theme inside. We ordered the churro-mania funnel cake assuming it would just be a basic cinnamon sugar. It took about 7-10 minutes and GOT DANG it did NOT disappoint! The presentation was fantastic, (my photo does not do it justice, should have locked in) it had vanilla cinnamon ice cream, whipped cream, a drizzle of caramel and a small churro to top it off. The five stars is for the ferris wheel painted on the side wall. Now that the carousel is gone from across the SAP Center, the only place outside of Christmas to see an an amusement park ride inside downtown might be on this wall. The closest coin operated horse machine might be at Story and King. The popcorn came closest to soaring towards the lower third of the tub. Out of the three places downtown that have machine made popcorn, Tiny's is the best place to bring the kids. The big screen TV's in there and the seating arrangements would make it a great place to have video game parties and tournaments in there, where you can get loud and boisterous without upsetting the neighbors, and not worry about kids spreading popcorn, soda and dripping ice cream all over the house. A spacious venue, it is located near a parking structure with easy access. It utilizes the space well, with a clean bar. There are large lawn board games and Connect 4, which can be fun to play with a group. The workers there are straight to the point, which I appreciate. It took a bit of time for my food, but I will give the benefit of the doubt because it takes time to fry and prep. They have a colorful assortment of flavorings for drinks and shaved ice. Their menu is straight to the point. I will need to come back to try the lemonades. My other complaints include the smell. There is a soft scent of cannabis in the air. Tiny's Carnival Sweets & Treats is hands down one of my favorite spots in San Jose right now. I've gone 3 days in a row and every single time the service has been amazing!! Everyone is so welcoming and friendly plus they play 2000s R&B and Hiphop which I loved!! Vibin and eating bomb snacks what more can you ask for?! The lemonade is refreshing, the deep fried Oreos are perfect, and the funnel cakes are LOADED with toppings. The Cajun corn is insanely flavorful (seriously, they need to make crispy fried shrimp with that Cajun sauce ASAP). The asada loaded potato was buttery, filling, and so good. Let me just start by saying this, I am always fair in my reviews. I won't crap on a place if the food was good but because the red carpet wasn't rolled out for me or someone didn't take my order fast enough. If the food is good then I will say so. Just like I won't over hype a place simply because it's the new trendy spot featured on IG. I judge solely on the product being served. Although if your establishment is dirty or the service is absolutely buns, I don't care how good the food is, I'm going to call you out on it. So with that said, let's get into it. The Good: I have been waiting since I was a child for a restaurant that sold Theme Park/Carnival like food to come into existence. I mean having access to a funnel cake without having to buy tickets to some place is an automatic good in my book. The place seems like it would be a great place to bring your kids for a treat and I can definitely see the appeal aesthetically for IG/Tik Tok peeps to come in and take pics/vids. The Bad: I hate putting this under bad, because this is a new business, you can tell that they're still figuring things out so it's not bad in the "stay away" sort of way just more that you can tell that they're still figuring things out so please take that with a grain of salt. I can definitely see that the potential is there and this place could definitely take off. Ok the actual bad, the food was honestly kind of mid. It wasn't bad or terrible it just didn't taste like there was any passion in the preparation or flavor. Being that no other place like this exists (at least in this area) they have the opportunity to sort of blow peoples hair back with their creativity, but instead it just sort of tastes like what you would get at Great America or any other sort of theme park. Like you poured some funnel cake mix in a fryer and fried it. I just didn't feel like they have developed their own flavor or take on things yet which was kind of a let down but that's something else to take with a grain of salt. I don't know if this belongs on the "bad" or not as I just don't know how I feel about it, but I was surprised when my large lemonade was served in one of those containers you get when you buy pho to go. If you've purchased any sort of soup in the past 5 years or so you probably have like 5,000 of these plastic containers in your cupboard. Now obviously these containers come from somewhere so they probably just did a bulk purchase of these containers, but I couldn't help but wonder if I was drinking out of someone's reused take home soup container. The upside though is you definitely get a lot of lemonade so I can't complain too much about this. I do feel bad giving the place 3 stars and not 4 especially since it's such a brand new spot and can potentially be some place great, but like I said I try to be fair in my reviews and base my rating on the product served to me and unfortunately food wise it was just mid. I will return in the future when the place has settled in to its own thing and maybe I will revise this review which should be taken as a positive because I don't return to places I don't like so take that for whatever it's worth. The wrap up: 3 stars seems a little harsh but I would still recommend checking the place out as the potential for greatness is there. I've only been once but loved the potato I got. I expected only a single "stuffed" baked potato but it was in a good-sized bowl with what must have been at least two baked potatoes spread on the bottom. For $3 extra ($15 instead of $12) you get beef as a topping. I think they said carne asada and it did have a great flavor. Not sure how it would be without the meat but it was fantastic tasting with it. Also cilantro, tomatoes, onions and sour cream. It was a lot to eat. Also got a fried Oreo (ordered one for $2 but they gave me 3). It is battered and they give you a choice of ice-cream type sauces (caramel, chocolate, strawberry [and some others]) to drizzle on it. The Oreo softens and the fried batter has a taste that reminds me of a glazed donut. I should have tried it right away but didn't get to it until after the potato. But it was tasty and a different type of dessert to try. Just don't tell your doctor. read more
