    Salad & empanadas
    Orrin E.

We were in NYC for Mother's Day, and decided to try out Tio Pepe. There's a restaurant with the same name in Philly with amazing food and while we know there's no relation, we were hopeful that the food would be just as good. Admittedly, we were also intrigued by bottomless mimosas and sangria. It wasn't very busy, the host sat us in a 4 top in the window, shortly after that the manager apologized and moved us to another table. We ordered sangria and opted for light lunch, and ordered the empanadas, clams, soup and salad. We asked for bread, anticipating that we'd want to sop up the garlic broth in the clams, but everything just lacked flavor. The empanada filling, the clam broth, the soup. The service was fine, the atmosphere is cute, location is great for people watching.

    Tacos

I've been coming here since before the pandemic. Back when there was just the taco shop. I used to love their tacos and elote. then I started coming during the pandemic when they were just take away drinks. Which was amazing and something to do. Since the pandemic, I have only eaten here a handful of times. And every time I come I'm just a little more disappointed. The service has gone down tremendously as well as the food quality. What was once a staple in my weekly meals is now a once in a while trip to see if this place has gotten better or worse. Today I got the tacos, barbacoa, tinga and pork belly. My father got the chimichanga. The tacos were absolutely mid. The best one being the beef barbacoa. I also ordered the rice and beans but they were forgotten about. When I finished my tacos I asked about it and the waiter hit me with "oh they didn't bring you it?" The man forgot about it. Whatever. It happens. The rice and beans were mad anyway. With frozen veggies and the beans were watery. The tacos are so tiny and cost $5.50 each. Probably three bites per taco. Waters were not refilled throughout my meal and no one checked on us while we were eating.

    Frozen Strawberry Margarita to go!

I came here recently and didn't even realize that I had been here previously. We were in the area and I popped in because I saw that they had frozen margaritas that could be purchased togo. I order a couple and whe I paid and waited, I noticed that they had a nice tequila selection. I told hubby to come in and check out the bar. We got a taste of mezcal and the bartender gave us an orange dusted with tajin. This was the first time I've ever had a shot served like that. It was awesome and I always have a mezcal shot like that any chance I get. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.

Came here on a Saturday afternoon after attending the play "Light's Out" about Nat King Cole. The restaurant was not crowded at the time, which was around 4pm and we didn't have a reservation. We were greeted warmly and seated immediately at a table by the window. They also have bar seating and an entire seating area in the back. The staff was VERY friendly and helpful as far as making suggestions and answering our questions. There are a LOT of options too! You can order a bunch of Tapas, or strictly stick with a main course. Also, lots of drink options on the flip side of the menu. We started with a DELICIOUS bowl of freshly made Guacamole which was served with a sweet salsa and chips. I highly recommend this as well as the Sparkling Sangria!! Yummy!!! I ordered the Currasco (skirt steak), which was cooked PERFECTLY! It came with roasted potatoes and veggies that were also very flavorful. My friend ordered the Red Snapper which was moist, flakey and well seasoned. This came with roasted veggies and a rice pilaf. The waiter even gave us extra chips because we devoured the first basket. Neither of us were able to finish our food. (Don't have big appetites and get full quickly) So we took home our food and also ordered dessert to go. The Chocolate Mousse cake and the Tres Leche cake were both delicious as well. I would definitely return! So many other things to try on the menu!!

What a change in just a few days, the employes are smiling again, They tell me that they are happy to work for the reinstated general manager Claude Alain Solliard, a seasoned professional They say , " He eliminated the too many glasses on the tables, fixed the broken lights, the decorative plates fallen from the walls, etc.. " says Diego from Chile... So it's time to patronize this lovely Latin place on W4 Street again, the gambas al arilio and Most importantly the Paella Valenciana made by the assistant Chef, who worked years in Spain, also new to come the Guacamole made fresh at the table... Wish you to start 2025 with some good Latino food... Best respectful regards Happy New Year Daniel Marie CHAPPUIS, regular guest.

Came here because my initial happy hour plans did not work out and I was pleasantly surprised. I had several delicious tacos and a margarita. They have a HH special here where you get 3 Tacos and a Margarita for $18. All of the tacos were good, but my favorites were the barbacoa and the pork belly. The Margarita was small but a good size For the deal b you're getting. The only downside is that you have to buy three tacos and a drink to get the deal. So come hungry!

My husband and I stopped in here for dinner on our way to check out some of the bars in the Village. A nice place, friendly servers and great margaritas. We got the Happy Hour Special and were delighted with it. We each got three tacos, and the chicken and beef were both great. The pork belly was more fat than meat, but still not bad. The margaritas were great and we enjoyed the chips and salsa too. The best part of this restaurant is probably the view. Right on W 14th St., the front seats, or the outdoor seating, give you a fantastic opportunity for people watching. We had a great time and enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Definitely worth a stop.

Great service and the decorations were so nice. Our waiter was very warm and welcoming and checked up on us a bunch of times. I shared a large order of the taco platter which comes with 9 tacos. Our favorite was the fish taco and our least favorite was the pork belly. The pineapple mojito was sweet and strong. Looking forward to coming back here for brunch some time.

My date ordered the hanger steak and said it was absolutely amazing. Only hiccup: his first glass of wine he got came out hot... like, microwave-level warm. Fortunately, the server brought a new (cold) one and the rest of the meal was smooth sailing. Service was friendly, the vibe was homey and relaxed, and the food was solid across the board. Would definitely come back, especially for that salad and another round of grenadine magic.

It was our first time eating at a Friedman's location. It had a nice diner feel to it, with a mix of booths and tables. The brunch menu has a variety of breakfast items, salads, sandwiches and burgers, starters, and entrees (fish tacos, grain bowl, fried chicken). I like that several of the items are naturally gluten free, and some can be made gluten free by request. We decided to go with three breakfast items from the brunch menu: I got the shakshuka, my sister got the Nova Benny, and we got the lemon ricotta pancakes to share. All 3 dishes were great. The shashuka came with grilled ciabatta, perfect for dipping into the sunny side eggs and tomato sauce. My sister loved that the poached eggs and smoked salmon of the Nova Benny came on top of a crispy potato latke. The pancakes were fluffy and the lemon ricotta and lemon zest elevated their flavor. Our server was friendly and attentive, and he asked us if we had any allergies when he took our order. He came by several times to check on us and refill water. Anyway, their happy hour is solid enough for a Monday and was meeting up with a friend I hadn't seen in over a year. Place is actually very cute. There are no tvs which I appreciate and the paneling of the walls and decor with all the flowers is quite tasteful. Happy hour deals 4-7pm Mon-Fri & all night Thursday apparently: Aperol Spritz $8, Hugo Spritz $9, Paloma $10, Mules $9, Draft Beers (except Guinness) $7, House Wine $9. As well as 2 Appetizer Bites for $19.95. Not the best but not the worst. I'm normally not a Spritz kind of gal. I think watering down prosecco or wine is heinous. But it was a Monday and I didn't exactly feel like powering down into happy hour so Aperol Spritz it was which switched to a Modelo later. It was the perfect drink situation on a god awful hot as hell day. We also ordered the fish tacos and what initially were the curry fries but they brought out the Greek fries. I wasn't mad about it. Honestly was torn between the two and I don't send food back unless something really bad happened. But it was essentially a side of Caesar salad dressing with feta cheese and generous amount of herbs on a very sparse and frugal amount of crispy standard cut fries. Now I know why it's a 2 for $20 deal. The tacos were 3 in an order which I guess is typical. They weren't bad but nothing stood out to me. I'd come for the drinks or try something else on the menu.
