I live down the street from Tito's and discovered it on Yelp. Tito's is tucked in the back of a strip mall and definitely seems like a secret hole in the wall / dive. Inside has a cozy and established feeling. The inside is half cafeteria and half convenience store. This place gets pretty darn packed during lunch. Seemed like the most popular sandwich here was the milanesa, so I ordered it. Yes to chili. The milanesa contained breaded steak that was cooked perfectly & was easy to bite through, along with the soft bread and tomatoes. The slightly mild spicy chile was definitely a must-have.. I couldn't imagine having a sandwich here without it. It just totally made up the flavors of the entire sandwich. I also ordered 1 beef empanada along with the sandwich. The empanada was about 5 delicious bites big, and the beef had some sweetness, which reminded me of Korean-style bbq beef (bulgogi). I liked it so much that when I was finished with the empanada and milanesa, I ordered myself another beef empanada. They were out of chicken empenadas, so I'll check them out next time. I really, really wanted to like this place; however, I think it's overrated. Honestly, I don't see how people rate this place with four or five stars. Don't get me wrong, I do love supporting momma and poppa businesses; however, I was disappointed with this place. We got there at 4pm today and it was a bit crowded (I thought that was a great sign; not!) As soon as you walk in, you can't help but to notice the dirty floor. The menu is above the register and they offer hot sandwiches, cold sandwiches, empanadas, and sides. Next to the register they keep fries, empanadas, chicken wings, and some type of meat over heated lamps. However, I paid no mind to it and I asked the lady what she recommended; although, I had seen a rib-eye picture on yelp that caught my attention. I ordered a full rib-eye sandwich for my boyfriend and a half milanesa sandwich for myself. As sides, we got two beef empanadas (they were out of chicken,) fries, and a drink. Our order came out to $23.21. The lady at the register gave us our receipt so we proceeded to the seating area. The tables are connected to each other and they had crumbs all over them. I wanted to take a look at the meat selection they have and see what I can purchase. The meat part of the market doesn't look good at all. Seems like the meat looks old and they don't take care of this place. Finally, our order number was called and everything was placed in a bag. Now the recap: Milanesa sandwich: After unwrapping my sandwich and seeing it, I knew I was in for something not so great. It looked plain and it tasted bland. There's no taste to this sandwich other then dough and tomato. Aside from tasting bland; my milanesa was COLD!! I know for sure that they don't make fresh food here. This milanesa had probably been fried for hours and it was probably under a heated lamp that doesn't work. I hate returning food, but when something that is suppose to be fried it should taste hot and crispy; not cold and soggy! I asked the gentleman who was cleaning the table if I could return my sandwich, because the milanesa was cold. He said, "yes, do you still want this one?" I told him no thank you it's old. He then threw the sandwich away and put in a new order for me. A minute later my sandwich was ready. Major red flag!! Food poisoning waiting to happen. Rib-eye sandwich: This sandwich was a different story. It was hot, full of flavor, and yummy. This is the reason why I even gave this place two stars. The meat is tender, with grilled onions, tomato, and cheese. These ingredients compliment the sandwich very well. If you really want to try this place I suggest you only order this. Beef empanadas: They're so overrated! They don't even taste like Argentinian empanadas; more like cheap ground beef with no flavor. I've definitely had better and the quality of their empanada is very disappointing. They're also very doughy, overly fried, and too much time under heated lamps. Stay away from them! If you really want to try great empanadas and you're willing to drive, go to El Gaucho Market in Lawndale or Empanada's Place in Culver City. Here you'll try authentic Argentinian empanadas, sandwiches, and much more. Oh, and a clean atmosphere. read more

Back in the late 70s, my pops used to deliver meat to local markets and restaurants all over LA. He eventually came across Tito's (before they took over the whole shopping center). Even though we lived in the SFV, he introduced us kids to Tito's. Whenever I'm passing through the area, or even close, I make sure to stop and pick up a least a dozen beef empanadas and a large matambre sandwich. Yes this place kicks butt! Not only are the empanadas and sandwiches delish, they also have a market inside the restaurant. The ground beef is very high quality and freshly ground, highly recommend. Tito's what can I say about my affinity for the place? I've been coming to Tito's since I wee lad. Always got the same cold sub. Always good, always finishing it and wanting more. As I got older I tried the wide variety of hit and cold subs. Most are good except for a few. But that's my opinion though. The also serve empanadas which are the best! Its a small Argentinian meat market that serves good food. I love this place and I'm willing to stand in a crowded line for the subs and empanadas. Super busy place. The tables for lunch were dirty and there wasn't much place to sit. I ended up sharing a table with some people. Their prices are super cheap and the food is decent. I had a ny steak sandwich which was decent sized but had a bunch of lettuce and was dry. My friend ordered some cream cheese jalapeños which were made with red peppers I didn't quite get. If you empanada fans wanna go for a drive to find some good empanadas, milanesa, and other deli sandwiches, "CONTINENTAL GOURMET" is the place to go. There is one (market & deli) in Hawthorne on Prairie Ave. The other one (deli/restaurant) is in Lomita. Forgot what street but cross street is PCH. Empanadas are fresher and different variety from beef, spicy beef, chicken, spinach, etc. Sandwiches are made fresh even if the line is long and customers are waiting... Worth waiting for. What a waste of $50 bucks for a dozen of empanadas, 3 milanesas(small), and a pound of jalapeño poppers. I rather take quality over fast service. Service was too fast. My pops would bring me in 35+ years ago and it was always the shit. I just came in on a teusday around 1130 am, and its been a while for me(maybe 1 year) and i was in the area so fuck it, lets get this fix and bring some empanadas home for the wife and kids. Look, i see your yelp reviews and google reviews etc.... You guys are still doing good business. Always with lines, always busy, always selling. But when i walked in this time it looked just sad af. Tito would not be happy if he were to walkin and see the register area looking fucked up, the hot holding looking fucked up, the paint looking fucked up, for fucks sake at least take 3 seconds to straighten the old location picture on the back of the house entry. This is his legacy to his kids, grandkids to have prospered and created something amazing that has put food on your table, and supported your family all this time. Put smiles to thousands if not millions of people. You guys have regulars that iam sure can agree with my statements here, and iam sure your creating new long time customers on the daily. The sandwiches need work. Why ? Let me tell you why. I've been coming here since I was a kid. This place was just a small liqueur store when I first remember coming with my parents. Their sandwiches are awesome. Every person I've introduced this place to, loves it. I always keep it simple. I get their ham and cheese sandwich with the jalapeños. Their jalapeños are nicely chopped and the bread is so soft. Their cheese is soo good. Real good quality for a cheap sandwich. The beef empanadas speak for themselves. I've never had a bad one and their always perfectly cooked. The meat is always well seasoned, and to the olive lovers out there, you get one perfectly hid little surprise in each one. The jalapeño poppers are the best I've ever had! Their spicy beware, they use the red jalapeños with the cream cheese inside. Sooo good! And their fries are great! Their perfectly seasoned with a nice little crisp. I've tried everything there and even though all the sandwiches are good.. The lomo and the ham and cheese remain my favorite. I came on a Sunday. Way too busy so I only tried the beef empanadas 1.89. Tasted like ground beef jerky. The dough was soft, not flaky. I've never had an Argentinian empanada so I don't know what to look for. It was ok. I liked the addition of green olive but I only found 1 in the 2 empanadas I bought. Would've liked more olives. I prefer the Filipino empanadas at Josephine's where they use chunks of flank and the dough is crispy and sweet. I'll have to come back on a weekday to try a sandwich. They were HUGE sandwiches and less than $5 for most items. Places like these make me wonder why Subway is in business. read more

Tito's has a wide variety of hot or cold sandwiches. My favorites, "lomo" and "milanesa". I like to add a small order of the seasoned fries, an empanada, and a few chicken wings. The pork and beef ribs are really good too. I prefer the seasoned ribs over the bbq ribs. The bbq sauce is so so. It can be a mad house an certain points. But service is still quick. If you plan going yourself and are paying credit or debit, make sure your order is more than $10. That is the only way they will accept credit or debit.
