Great food and interior--- BUT I have been twice but had major problems both times. The first time, my burrito came out 20 minutes after my BFs burrito. In the two times I have visited they have been out of 3 things I wanted to order. The second time I had to pay more because they were out of the cheaper vegan option and didn't offer it to me at the same price. Then, I paid extra for an additional sauce. When it didnt come out, I had to ask 3 people about it before I spoke with a girl who first asked me "if i paid extra for it." When I said yes, she went to check on it and came back and told me they were out of sauce. I asked for a refund and she said it shouldnt cost more-- and I told her I was charged for it. AND that totally contradicted what she just said to me when she asked if I paid more for it? I understand the place is new, but it is so disorganized. After I paid and was about to leave, a woman approached me and asked if I had taken the signed copy of the receipt when I def had not. I had only received two copies of the same receipt. One I signed with a tip and left, and one I took to my table-- and I knew because of the sauce ordeal and also I was splitting the order with friends so was annoyed when I didnt initially receive an itemized receipt. Good food but the staff need more training-- its a mess there. I have never had so many things go wrong in one meal. No compensation for the mess either and had to fight for my $1 for sauce I never received back. Also expect to wait 10-15 minutes in line to order. read more

I absolutely love this restaurant but unfortunately, this location tends to miss the mark. Second time ordering from this location- I got a fajita burrito with carne asada- the rice was very dry and there was barely any carne asada in it. Previously, I had purchased a salad that was so watery (legit looked like someone had added water to the bowl) and it was almost inedible. This place is right around the corner from where I live, I will not be returning. I walk up to the counter and order a $28 burrito chips and salsa combo, way pricey, but the thought of a good burrito after a long day sounded good. The cashier tells me it would be 15 minutes because they are busy. So I wait at a table behind their bar. I half hour goes by and I approach the bar wondering where my food is. The (manager?) girl reaches to the front of a line of to go bags, and says "oh here it is". Shocked I said I've been waiting here the whole time, she comes back with well it's really loud and we've called your name. So I pointed at the table saying I was sitting right there the whole time. She tells me she's had people sitting at the bar that I've not heard them call names of peoples order. My thought is: if this is happened before wouldn't you want to fix it somehow and maybe raise your voice to get the attention of people waiting to leave with their food??? She seemed very put out that I was even questioning that. I will not be returning and the food is mediocre. I really want to like this place. I love the food and drinks but the staff have to get it together. Our first visit the food came out very quickly but our side took 15 more minutes (the side was tortilla chips) Our second trip the food came out immediately but our drinks took 15 minutes. Tonight's trip I got food to go. After waiting 20 minutes I asked what was taking so long. They told me they ran out of chicken and it would be another 10 minutes. Meanwhile my other tacos and corn sat there in a bag. They offered to do the other chicken which I allowed since I needed to get back and all of the food (including the chicken tacos) were ICE COLD. Note, I live half a block down from this place so I can't blame travel time. Again love the food, but the need more help and better preparation. read more

First visit here and it was a great one! They've been open for barely two months and I wish them well! This place is open, airy, bright, and lively. Had a modern feel and furniture. Has benches and chairs to choose from. You can seat yourself either inside or patio. It's a modern twist to Mexican food. Pretty simple menu. You choose either salad, burritos or quesadillas but have several meat or chicken and vegan options to choose from for your fillings. They have variety of sauces in tables to choose from. Soft drinks are self served and had a great variety of frescoes and iced teas, but they have cocktails, wine and beer on the menu with great pricing and great looking! You order at the cashier and they bring the food to you. It's open kitchen so you can see them working through the glass partition. It was clean and manager was constantly cleaning up specially the drink area. They had a sign in the bathroom regarding washing hands and how big they are about sanitation. I love that. Loved the added touch of the pomegranate seeds with the guacamole, and I did enjoy my cauliflower paleo rice bowl but both me and my partner were still hungry after the meal and we had already paid for what we thought were full entrees. I ordered my "Taco Kit for 4" for Cinco De Mayo this morning at 11am to be ready at 6pm. When I arrived at 6:15 I realized they might have been behind in orders, as there was a huge crowd outside and inside, politely waiting. I have been a long time fan of this place, but was extremely disappointed by the lack of professionalism, lack of safety in making everyone wait in a large group until one bag of food would come out to the "contactless" table (that had 6 people crowded around it waiting, with 15 others outside. We were informed that they might be about an hour behind. After the hour rolled by, polite people began asking if they could cancel their orders, and the hostess obliged. Disturbingly, the three guys in the kitchen that we could see were off and on on their phones, laughing, showing each other stuff, and generally just having a good time. One of the girls assembling food off and on slowly in bags (maybe it wasn't ready? Not enough?) had her mask down below her chin, and was putting her hands in all the bags. Food came out by the bag maybe once every 10 minutes. The girl next to me had a pick up time of 7:15 and received hers much sooner than me. When I finally received my order at 8pm, the cooks in the kitchen were again laughing, on his phone (sanitary? Yuck) taking bathroom breaks and didn't have a care in the world. Either there was no manager, or Tocaya needs to hire a new manager, and way way more staff to fill the orders that they took early in the day on CINCO DE MAYO. We will never be returning. Oh, and my 8pm order didn't even have all the items in it when I got it home. It was apparently a taco kit for 3. I will say, the nice hostess finally refunded a group of us' money after waiting 2 hours. It wasn't her fault. But honestly, it wasn't worth it and I'm not sure I trust the safety of the food after seeing all that. read more

Have been to this location twice. Today was my last time. I've been to Tocaya before in SD and Hollywood, and they were really really good. This location is SLACKING, and that seems to be an understatement. My food had ZERO flavor, the only thing that had some flavor was the vegan crema. Tiniest portions I've ever seen, I'm very petite and this was basically like eating a snack for me. Also beans were hard and undercooked. I ordered my food to go and when I asked the girl who was handing out the food for an extra salsa PLEASE, she literally gave me a death stare, not even one word or you're welcome when I thanked her, after spending over $30 dollars there for flavorless, undercooked snack. I hate leaving bad reviews but that last situation with the employee tipped me off. Most people on here are complaining about the no flavor food and tiny portions, not sure how this place is still in business. I should have just gone to chipotle & ended up with a whole meal then some for $11. Lesson learned. read more

I went to this place for my second time last night. We enjoyed it the first time, although we were freezing because the air was blowing so much. However we visited last night, and my feelings have changed slightly. I find a place quite expensive. I understand they're giving you good quality food or at least I think they are, but I don't see why any burrito should cost 1495 Unless it was an extra large size which this was not. Some of the items have really nice flavor, and I feel it's overpriced. Also, I do not recommend the brussels sprouts. They sound good on paper .. But when they arrived they were nothing that I expected. Most restaurants are going to give you a whole brussels sprouts, which I love. This place slices their brussels sprouts ..more like shreds them. Not only did I not know that, but the menu mentioned nothing about coriander as the seasoning. I mean if you're going to mention garlic, and tomatoes in the ingredient list on the menu, why on earth would You leave out a strong flavor like coriander ? I got a burrito and where was the meat? It was stuffed with everything else but the chicken. I think it only had 4 very small pieces of chicken. It was very busy as well - maybe they were under staffed? The burrito was more like a sandwich wrap.
