The restaurant had a calm, relaxed vibe when we arrived. I ordered a medium steak and it arrived very obviously well done. There was absolutely no pink meat inside/it was fully brown. The steak was very difficult to cut and I sawed the entire thing apart to see if any of the steak was cooked to the appropriate temperature, but it wasn't. The service had been decent at first, however, when I mentioned that my steak was overcooked the waitress argued that the pink portion would be near the bone, but guess what, there was no bone. I proceeded to dig through all of the pieces of steak to show that it was overcooked and the waitress told me that I should have told her before cutting the entire steak apart. I mean, were you going to take it back and reverse the overcooking? Would never recommend this restaurant and only gave 2 stars because the rest of the food was edible. read more

Cocktails: weak and generic Oyster Rockefeller: warmed oysters on half shell with bland toppings (bread crumbs quite lame) Wedge salad: nothing appetizing really if you like the traditional wedge with heavy blue cheese and fresh bacon. Let's start with the good parts the drinks were exceptional and the bourbon glazed bacon delicious and our server Cici was great. Other appetizers were blah the crab cake had a weird smell and taste the calamari tasted like frozen calamari that was over cooked very rubbery. My niece loved her lamb chop entree I had a ribeye medium the cook was perfect but it was so fatty for a $50 steak I was underwhelmed. I wasn't a fan of Toni's steakhouse, We went to celebrate my father's birthday. When we first arrived there was an issue with the reservation, my stepmother called previously to amend the reservation from 9 to 12 people and was told that would not be an issue. However it was, When we arrived the servers debated and had us stand there for 15-20 mins, while they discussed if they could move 1 table or not. They weren't even sure if they could accommodate us sitting together. The restaurant space is very small, so all 12 of us just stood awkwardly really close to other tables while they were eating. After that was finally sorted by the manager making the executive decision to just move the table we were all finally able to sit. Speaking of, did I mention that they sat us in a booth and had to add 2 extra tables anyway because the booth itself was not big enough to even sit 9 people in the first place? When we were finally able to sit down, the server took our drink orders. Once she had them filled, she came back and gave everyone a drink except for me! I had only asked for a water. She then proceeded to ask if it would be okay if she took the orders and then got me my water (not that I was trying to be difficult but at that point we'd been sitting there for quite sometime) so I told her absolutely not. In her defense, she had to run all her food and drinks for a party that large and had no help from the other servers or managers. The food finally came out and I will say that it's solid. They put spicy Mayo on all the appetizers and I ordered fried green tomatoes. I think they should maybe serve it on the side. It ruins the dish, in my opinion and the batter they're fried in isn't seasoned very well. Everything else was good and everyone who had steaks, was very happy with their meal. I had a basic grilled shrimp dinner. I also wasn't a fan of the fact that the only options for sides you don't have to pay additional money for are all variations of potatoes or broccoli. At one point, prior to receiving our appetizers, someone in my party spilled water and was given a paper towel from a roll to clean it up with instead of a napkin. I think, at the end of the day, Toni's is an affordable steakhouse with no big thrills. Overall, I think Toni's can do better when it comes to the servers and the restaurant layout. The servers could use more help with bigger parties and I also think if they removed the booths they could have more tables and not have to worry so much about space. I think it's very reasonably priced for a steakhouse and the food is definitely the reason why I'm giving 3 stars instead of 2. It's been a couple years since I've visited so when a friend decided to have her birthday dinner here I was optimistic. Surely, things have improved after such a long time. Well I was wrong & right at the same time. Our reservation was for 8:00 and we sat down around 8:15 due to the entire party not being on time. There were 7 people in total and we were placed in a booth, you can imagine how cramped things were. Our waitress Markie(sp) was INCREDIBLE! Super friendly & personable. After browsing the menu we ordered drinks and they were overpriced to say the least. I understand their is a markup when you go out but this was ridiculous, $25 for a red bull & bourbon? How is that even possible. Drinks were brought out and we placed our orders. The birthday girl & her boyfriend ordered the steak for 2 which came with four side, 2 people, including me ordered lamb chops, 1 person ordered the chicken fettuccini alfredo, 1 had pork chops and the last person ordered salmon. The fettuccini Alfredo was described as bland and underwhelming. The pork chops received a rave review and the bone was picked clean of meat. The couple that ordered the steak for 2 said their meat was tender, however their sides (mashed potatoes & broccoli) were subpar. The salmon was so/so but again underwhelming & under seasoned. Both orders of lamb chops were cooked incorrectly. We both asked for medium in the hopes that if it was over cooked it would be medium well, which would have been fine. I was given 4 chops and 75% was cooked well so the meat was VERY tough. Markie offered to have the kitchen cook two more but the wait would have been an additional 30 minutes as a party of almost 20 was seated after us. The other person that ordered lamb chops faired better than me, only one of her chops was cooked well, the other 3 were perfect. I ordered double mashed potatoes as my side and the portion was small and the potatoes were very dry & had no remnants of seasoning. Overall, the experience was lackluster. I would not revisit. Markie was the only highlight to the entire experience & had it not been for her everyone would have requested to speak with the manager on duty. Ruth Chris is definitely the better option for steakhouses. Yes, you pay extra for sides but the portions are adequate and flavor is present throughout the meal. read more

Honestly, this experience was terrible. It is the experience itself which dropped the rating from a possible 4 star to a 2 star. So we showed up for an 8:30pm reservation and didn't get sat until 9:00. It was solid that I was able to get a glass of house red from the bar while I waiting. I'm very glad it wasn't over priced. It was actually pretty good, on the lighter side for a cab. Probably why I drank so many glasses . When we got sat, you could instantly see the disappointment in the guests around us. Crossed arms in a restaurant are NOT a good sign. We ordered drinks and apps. It took forever to get both. A 15 minute wait for drinks is not a great start. Some people in our party didn't get their drinks until the apps came out. The server never apologized or gave us a heads up. The apps came out longer, my buddy still didn't have his drink. The shrimp wasn't bad. A little on the salty side but that makes sense. Seemed like a steakhouse seasoning. They were big and felt fresh. By the time I was done with my shrimp, we realized they never brought the oysters out. During the time we took to eat our apps, our drinks were empty and we never saw our guy. It wasn't his fault honestly, they had him waiting our table and making drinks behind the bar. Soo we waited forever for our food. I went to ask to speak with a manager. I honestly just wanted to tell him our server could do a better job serving drinks. And an estimated wait time would've been nice. He never acknowledged me after they told us to wait. Sucks! After I shriveled up and turned into an old man from the wait time our food FINALLY arrived. Wait.. this part was super unfortunate. My steak was over cooked. There was no way I was sending it back and having to wait longer. Well, my loud mouth got me in trouble. When I told my mate, the server over heard me.. Crap! I fell like 2 stars is generous, but we did have a great waitress. The restaurant is extremely small and looks like a nicer Olive Garden inside. It's pretty dark and calming. I wish I had more good things to say. We ordered the tomahawk medium rare, kids chicken tenders, and a burger for my son. The tomahawk had an odd flavor and was very charred on the outside. It just wasn't what we've come to expect from a tomahawk. It was cooked to the correct temp, though. But everyone eating it agreed it wasn't very good. Not sure who they have as their baker or bread supplier but A+ for that. 2) service was not very good D at best. Waitress took our orders but appetizer took 35 minutes. Forgot my wife's salad and refilled my tea once with fresh brewed tea and no ice. 3) ambience was ok. Could have been a little lower on the lighting and they need to dust the bar area. The "top shelf" liquor had a clear dust level on them that looked like they haven't been poured or checked in months. We in total handled 4 menus, 2 at the bar and the 2 at our table all were stained with food grease or other dried liquids. If you're charging $110 dollars for dinner for 2 at least spend $5 on printing a new menu every once in awhile. We did not know quite what to make of it in all. I was thinking before going in more upscale than Longhorns but not as nice as say a Ruth Chris type steak place. It turns out it's more like a mom and pop restaurant wanting to be a steak house but not wanting to spend the little extra on making it a nice steak house. It's been a few years since my last visit. I must say I I will be back soon. My son and I were on the Salvatore side so that meant we ordered a little extra to make sure we have food to take home. We chose the maple bacon for our appetizer along with complementary bread. I selected the lamb chops which were amazing they were cooked medium well along with mashed potatoes with sour cream and wilted spinach. My son ordered fried shrimp along with french fries and he had a side of mashed potatoes. We both had an amazing Caesar salad. And for dessert I chose the caramel salted cheesecake and when I tell you it was fresh and very good it was. We sat in a booth the tables are clean, the restaurant noise level was appropriate, We were seated immediately as we walked in and the service was a one. My son was very complementary to the waiter about his food and his drink and the waiter interacted with us very well along with the other staff that assisted at times. We did not have to ask for refills of our drinks our waiter make sure that our experience was positive. We will definitely visit Toni's steakhouse again. read more

This is not the case if you're in midtown. It's off Abercorn just enough to sit outside with minimal road noise. The interior is simple and elegant. I sat outside and loved the small space I had to myself. My waiter was attentive and we had great conversation. The wine and drink lists were plenty to cover all the bases including expensive taste. I ordered the ribeye which was cooked a perfect rare. The Cesar salad had freshly shaved cheese and the right amount of dressing. Both sides I ordered were great. The total with tip was $80 and included two glasses of wine, dinner and dessert. After my meal I ordered the tiramisu to go. The taste was decent but I was looking for it to be a traditional dessert. It was almost a pudding and very small. For the price ($8) I expected a little more thrill in a dish. Overall, the meal and service were great. I haven't been to Toni's in a min bc it's never a good experience. Idk what they have going on. It took and hour to get apps and there were literally on 3 tables in the establishment. After the apps it took another hour to receive the entrees. Granted the steak and lamb chops are amazing. But the kitchen is a whole disaster obviously. Not once have I been able to enjoy my steak and chops in the establishment due to the waiting game. Our waiter tried his best to keep us satisfied but like every other visit, we have to get a good a meal boxed to go because we've waited over and hour to eat. I think this time was the last straw. We have been frequenting Toni's for close to 20 years for special occasion dinners. Up until tonight they have always had the best prepared steaks of any restaurant I've been to over my almost half century of living in Savannah, and I've recommended them to friends. All that changed tonight when I ordered what has become an overpriced 8oz. filet mignon. I typically order my steaks medium / slightly rare. This was beyond medium well done, only about 3/4"thick and an obvious seam of what I'm guessing was meat glue holding together two inferior cuts of meat. IF I could post photos here I would do so. I asked her and she said she forgot. I told her it was too late not to worry. we never saw her again. She never asked how our meal was or anything. Walked in was told by toni himself there was no seating at the bar for one tonight because of private party despite a single chair at the corner of bar. . All other chairs were moved off to the side by entrance not stored away in back. There were multiple open tables was told they were not available again by toni himself. I made an order online of a Toni signature double cut filet steak. I was told that it comes with 2 sides so I choose sautéed mushrooms and a baked potato loaded with out chives. For dessert I ordered the slice of homemade chocolate cake because I love chocolate and I liked the fact that it was made from scratch. My bill came out to $50.00 plus I gave a $5.00 tip to the bartender who took my order over the phone. I thought that it was kinda pricey but it is steak. The steak was $38.00 and the slice of cake $10.00! But hey I'm thinking it's made from scratch so I'm sure it's gonna be worth every penny. Here's where the disappointment comes in. When I go to pick my order up from the bartender I asked him did they add any steak sauce. He said no, that's extra. That's going to cost you a dollar. I said " I just spent almost $60.00 in here for a meal and you can't give me a condiment for free? " He said " I don't make the rules." So then I asked " so if I were dinning in would you be charging me for steak sauce?" He said "no, do you still want the sauce?" I said " yes I will just pay the dollar." I had to go back out to my car scrounge up some change because I don't usually keep cash on me. I look at my receipt and I was charged for the 2 side items separately that he told me came with the steak. Disappointed. I came into town to visit family and we decided to dine at Toni. They weren't very busy which was great because we were a party of 6. Upon arrival we put our name in at which time there were plenty of open tables where our party would fit yet we still ended up waiting about 30 minutes and finally were sat at one of those long-time empty tables after reminding someone that we were still waiting for a table. The server, though incredibly sweet and personable may have had too much on per plate because she forgot several things including silverware and drinks as well as their refills. After ordering our food, it took over an hour before we inquired about an ETA on our meal, as the kids were getting restless and I still had a 4 hour drive back home that night. We asked for an ETA on our meal a little after 8p and were told it'll probably be another 10 minutes. We never saw our original server again after that. 35 minutes later the meal comes out and we immediately asked for boxes to take everything to go. After getting boxes, it took another 15-20 minutes to track down someone (not our server, still couldn't find her) for our check at which time it took our original server about 30 seconds to bring it to us and get us out of there. Most people would think well maybe the guests were rude or demanding etc. I've been a server before and we know how to treat our servers so trust me when I say that wasn't the case! Not a very good experience for an incredibly expensive meal. The Caesar salad dressing was delicious however the croutons were like soggy Texas toast so that was a turn off and the Alfredo was tasty and creamy but lacked the flavorful aspect. Cant speak on how my family felt about their meals since we all ended up taking most of it to go - except my son. Who due to the delay was starving at that point and devoured his steak and said it was great. The restaurant is beautiful inside - maybe not best for families with kids as it kinda gives a romantic date vibe with the dim lighting however it was pleasant and cozy and very upscale - absolute no hate to the establishment, or staff as a whole - I just wish the experience for my family would have been better.
