Terrible experience. Ordered using app, and while they got the order right, nothing else was good. Waited more than 20 minutes, though sandwich was ready when I arrived, thus was no longer hot. Apology from manager for delay, but no offer of compensation of any kind. Potato pancakes poorly cooked, pastrami dry, and sourkraut was absolutely tasteless. How can you have bland sourkraut at a deli? Woefully understaffed. Final straw was hostess brought out black + whites for those waiting to be seated. She offered them as well to the two gentlemen behind me waiting for pick+up, but not me. Really? This cannot be considered a good NY deli in an area with residents who know better. I have always loved TooJay's, but the last few times of going it has been below par. We walk in and the hostess seats us, our "waitress" walks by us half a dozen times and doesn't say a word. The host ends up taking care of us , drinks , food and even delivered the food to us. Food was alright, two waitresses had breakdowns because they are clearly understaffed. Then the waitress who ignored us 15 times asks us if we wanted a refill. Sadly the check was even under the waitresses tab, i was sure to tip her nothing and give it directly to the host. She was working super hard, even the waitresses were rude to her in front of customers. Don't know what happened to this place, it's the customer service that blows more than anything else. Had to personally get up and ask for a box, Poor hostess can't do everything. I'll be sure to go to Flakawoitz or Bens next time. Can't justify the expensive prices for lousy service. Good food, good service. We ordered the lox potato pancakes, a chopped salad and a Cobb salad--YUMMY! As usual TooJay's did not disappoint.

While the Rye bread is still very good, the pastrami is so downgraded from what it used to be we will not go back They tell me they went to a different company for the pastrami and didn't like it and went back to the original company but this is not the same pastrami from one year ago. What a disappointment! Will go to Bens in Boca! Bens in Boca just as bad. Where can you find a good pastrami sandwich??? read more

Have recently been frequenting this place and it gets better and better every time!! Everything is homemade, not from a can. The corned beef hash and potato pancakes are outrageous!! Went for lunch the other day and had the Beef Brisket sliders. It was the best beef brisket I have ever had! Server was slightly on the rude side since it did take about a half hour for our food to come out, which is not like them. The food usually comes out right away. Apparently there was a computer glitch. My husband got the shrimp salad sandwich. Shrimp was perfectly seasoned. He also got the Matzo Ball Soup which was great as well. I ordered shepherds pie through door dash. It was listed as "comfort food" and I certainly wanted that. Instead I got gluey flavorless potatoes atop maybe 2 ounces of badly seasoned beef with a disproportionate amount of peas and corn for $14.00. I could have gotten a 6 oz hamburger for less. Bless the poor server that had to help guide my aunt and nephews through the ordering process. Although my nephew was deeply disappointed that they don't have chocolate chips (omg, seriously?! #firstworldproblems), my meal was SO very delicious. I had the grilled egg sandwich with swiss, avocado, and arugula (no bacon, cause pigs are smarter than dogs). Very fresh and flavorful. H O R R I B L E!!!! Took forever to get anything. Soup. Bread. Anything!! When asked why it was taking so long, the waitress responded with we are out of chicken tenders, which is what my 7 year old ordered. The waitress said that they had to make them from scratch. After waiting and waiting, they finally bring out the food. The pastrami looked fatty. I'm kind of ok with this, because I think it can be fatty. I didn't even taste it because I took one look at the mock chicken tenders and they were burned. Pic is attached. I asked the manager, "would you eat this?" After many times of repeating and avoiding I finally asked him again and he said no. I said are you kidding me to him.? I said would you eat this? He replied with...no. So I asked why would you lower your standards for your customers? In all fairness he offered to make her something else, but I refused to make her wait a second longer after waiting for an hour already. I got up and left and told him to take it off the bill. My friends and I visit this location often before we see a movie at the theater in the same plaza. We only order from the counter. The service is excellent. We've been lucky to get Nancy a couple times and she always takes good care of us. She explains the ingredients in the baked treats as some of us have food allergies. The chicken soup, chicken salad, pastrami on rye... Never disappoint. Nancy even comes out from behind the counter to hand us our order. She's is friendly, pleasant and we enjoy her positive energy. It's because of her that we don't try any other restaurant in the plaza. We always look forward to our trips to the TooJay's walk up counter. We'll be dining in on January 7th for breakfast; so we'll have a new experience to review. read more

It's funny how one man's trash is another man's treasure. It's certainly appropriate with Toojay's given some of the downer reviews. Me? I love this place. Great sandwiches (albeit a tad on the pricey side), a solid deli and decent service. The rye bread with its soft and fluffy inside and its hard-chewy crust make the ideal platform for the 4-5 inches of near-perfect corned beef or pastrami that goes between. I've eaten nearly all of their sandwiches (except the tongue -- I do draw the line somewhere) and they've all been pretty fantastic. In fact, everything I've tried here has been delicious and well portioned, right down to the kosher dill pickles. And man, their potato pancakes with sour cream are the stuff of dreams. I only wish there was one closer to Southern California so I could go to Toojay's more often. read more

Never again. The hot dogs tasted like the ones My dad used to get from Costco when I was a kid and he would overcook them and they would shrivel up to the point where they were too small for the bun and they would become so dry that you had to put too much condiments on them. read more

I've been here several times and I always get the matzo ball soup. This time I got the 1/2 a sandwich and cup of soup combo, with a BLT and of course the matzo ball soup. The BLT was delicious, as was the matzo ball soup. I always add a little salt and pepper to the matzo ball and then it's really yummy. Our waitress who's name I forget had a trainee with her who's name was Cricket, they both were so nice and sweet that they really made the meal enjoyable. My only complaint would be that you only get one matzo ball the cup of soup and it really wasn't all that big. My daughter got the PB and J, I took a bite and it was really good. We were the youngest people in the restaurant. Every table around us had coupons, I asked about this and was told you can sign up and the coupons are mailed to you. I didn't sign up but may if we go back again soon. This is a great place to go to if you are going to the Cinemark movies across the parking lot. Waitress never changed her gloves from pushing trash can to bringing food. My card was handed back covered in grease from her gloves. And the feces on the bathroom floor... ummm! I'm assuming they don't clean the condiment bottles since to one brought to me was dirty. Isn't everyone doing individual portions now with Covid anyways? We had dinner at TooJay's in Boynton Beach last night (2/2/18) and were very disappointed in our meals. Each of our 2 couples ordered the Deli Platter (with 3 meats) & the Brisket Platter, served with soup or salad. Soups were lukewarm to cold, salad was OK. My 3 meat platter, with skimpy portions, 2 pastrami, 1 tongue: pastrami was worst I have had, pastrami filled with fat, tongue was salty. Our friend's 3 meat platter only had 2 servings of meat, after being asked the waitress finally brought 3rd serving of meat. Waitress kept almost bringing us other tables orders on 2 separate occasions. Long wait for food to arrive. Restaurant somehow advertises specials on pastrami, but avoid unless you just like fat. Note: Several hours after I posted this review I received a call from the manager, Tony, who said he was sorry about this, that they strive to provide better food and a better dining experience for customers. While I cannot change my original review, since the pastrami really was unacceptable, I am very favorably impressed by the responsiveness of management at this restaurant. Therefore my wife and I will go there again to see how things may be different. read more

TWO TABLES GOT FOOD AND DRINKS before we even had a a slice of cake we ordered....then a 3rd table who the waitress took the order after us, got there food before we got a refill on our drinks. 'Ello chaps! TooJays is much like Big Boys to Midwesterners or Shoney's to Southerners. It's a "breakfast served most of the day, or get a burger when you want, and why not go home with a pie" kind of place. A great alternative for breakfast compared to IHop or Dennys. There's a deli when you first walk in and this Too Jay's is located at the Boynton Beach Mall. Service was quick and friendly and food was good. This place is gnome approved. read more

We were looking for a sit-down dining experience and at first glance it looked like a grab-it-and-scoot deli. However, walk to the rear and to the left is a huge dining room. I was very impressed with our waiter. He was both attentive and informed. There are pictures of the New York scene around the walls and he directed my attention to some of the more riveting. Worst food ever! Chili was an old soggy hamburger in greasy water. The brisket was slimy and non chewable. Spit back into napkin. Gravy was salty brown goop for the old fashion pot roast. Upgraded vegetable to Brussel sprouts. Bacon was burnt. Brussels and carrots cooked together so the carrots were basically raw. Not sure how they got burnt bacon in with the way undercooked Brussels but what a total failure of a fairly simplistic dish. 10 mins after eating what I could of this food and I was running for the bathroom. Not just the food though waitress was definitely on something. Placed our order and asked for a to go order for when we leave. My son wanted me to bring home a burger. She brought the to go order to the table with our meal. Blamed the kitchen but never offered to even keep it hot. We also inquired about a B day cake for my daughters birthday. They needed 72 hours to have writing put on the cake even though cakes are there on premise. I think they might be selling someone else's pre Made frozen cakes. My wife couldn't wait to eat there today. And now we will never go back. The waitresses are always very friendly but friendliness does not make up for sandwiches/salads made incorrectly consistently. Today I ordered a triple j and I checked to make sure it could be made warm. The sandwich came out cold but the bread was suspiciously grilled. I told my waitress who went right back to the kitchen to get it fixed. Ten minutes late the sandwich came back out EXACTLY the Same Temperature except for the bread was flipped. I said it was fine only to find out the sandwich only had 2/3 advertised meats and no cheese...it's a deli figure out how to make some sandwiches, especially one that's your namesake. read more

The chicken caesar wrap was nothing but chunked dry chicken and some lettuce with a very small amount of dressing which was tasteless. The side of coleslaw is 2 tablespoons. There was nothing good about our trip to this restaurant. The service was horrible. We waited 15 minutes to get our drink orders taken. I know it was the day before a major holiday, and maybe they were short staffed, but this was excessive. We were about 30 seconds away from walking out, when we finally had a waitress ask for our drink order. We went ahead and ordered. The food came fairly quickly, but the pastrami sandwich was inedible. It was tasteless and the Challah bread had a sponge-like consistency. The roasted vegetable salad did not have any of the menu listed vegetables in it: broccoli, mushrooms, and asparagus to mention a few. The Chicken Capri looked like chicken stew. It was supposed to be a chicken breast with artichokes, mushrooms and capers, with fresh asparagus. Instead of fresh asparagus, I got really overcooked canned green beans. The artichokes and chicken were unrecognizable, as such. There were plenty of capers, which did give it a lot of flavor. At the least, we should have been told that the listed vegetables were not available. I know, I would have changed my order. My husband sent the salad back and got the chicken and strawberry salad. They were both in the salad, but it was mediocre, at best. The waitress offered no apology for the salad not having the right ingredients. She did bring the replacement salad very quickly, though. I never tip less than 15%, even for mediocre service. I could only do 10% for this order. It was not her fault for the bad food, but the bad attitude was so obvious, I could not reward the service. So sorry. We will not be back to any Toujays, anywhere. read more

For some reason I had not visited this particular Too Jays because I had not so much enjoyed my last experience at another location... but let me tell you... the food and service at this location was very nice. Their belgian waffles taste just like what a belgian waffle should be, malted batter crisp on the outside and soft on the inside... you can order a combo platter which includes eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes and bagel or toast... it's huge... but it's the best breakfast going in the Boynton Beach area and believe me, i've tried them all! read more

Most Too Jays I've been to are pretty decent. This one is ok however on my last visit I was extremely disappointed when I ordered the "stacked high" hot pastrami sandwich to go. $10.99 and there was no stack. It measured less than an inch and the meat didn't even make it to the back edge of the bread! I could have bought 3 of these at Arby's for that price. I'm not the only one on this blog who has been short meated on a take out order at this location! read more
