I was craving HK style food for dinner. Hopped on yelp and found this place. I'd been to this shopping plaza for Koi palace and 85 degrees a bunch of times but never knew this place was here. We came in and it wasn't too busy, which made me a bit skeptical but it got busy as we ate. It's actually not a huge place. Maybe 8 booths and a few tables. I wouldn't call it a hole in the wall but had that feel almost. Mostly clean though. I like it - no nonsense and just concentrate on the food. I got the baked pork chop rice and the bf got the beef and wonton noodle sauce. Both came out quickly and piping hot. My rice dish was sizzling sill and the soup was steaming. It was still steaming by the time it was finished 20 minutes later. Mmm, I love hot food. The pork chop rice was on point and hit the spot. The tomato sauce is wonderful - tomato-y and carrot-y and slightly sweet. Need to figure out how to make it. Fried rice underneath it and the two big pieces of pork chop. I like that they also serve it on two plates so you can remove the pork chop and place it on the second plate to cut it up. But I didn't want to waste any of the sauce and rice so I manned up and cut it all on the same plate. I only tried the broth of the wonton soup. And it was quite good. But my bf liked the wontons and the noodles were al dente, as it should be. I did wish it had bok choy or another veggie instead of lettuce and cabbage. Oh and I forgot that they gave us both the veggie house soup before our entrees came out. My bf, who doesn't even live tomatoes really liked this tomato based soup. And though it had a slight kick, I liked it too. I love anything with tomatoes. I give this place a 4 Star, the food is very good! The fried tofu is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Beef stew ho fun soup is on point, the noodles aren't mushy!!!! The beef stew is a very good portion and very flavorful. The pork and old age egg porridge is good, needs a little more flavor but nothing a pinch of salt can't fix. The waiter that was working was pretty nice. While we waited, we got a bowl of beef tomato soup which was good since it was cold outside. The first thing I usually think of when I see the word "spaghetti" would be an image of spaghetti with tomato sauce and that kind of thing. When my food came, it had no tomato sauce, to my surprise, but it actually looked good. The waitress told me that the plate was hot and she was right. I moved my plate while holding the napkin around the handle and it was super hot. The food was tasty and just the right portion, too. I wasn't full but I wasn't hungry anymore. I'd say majority of the food here might be pushing the expensive side because the cheapest item I saw that would be enough for one person. I have at least 4-5 really good go-to choices for HK cafes in the greater LA area and most of them are open until 4am, so this is yet another cuisine I have yet to find replacements for up here despite searching the entire East and South bay rather heavily since 2013. So depressing that my good friend (another LA transplant) has chosen to raise his children to only know the subpar Chinese food available here, despite hating the Chinese food up here almost as much as me. Don't get me wrong, there is amazing Ethiopian, Indian, and Afghani food and oysters and sourdough bread up here, and other foods I'm less knowledgeable and picky about. My favorite thing to order is their wonton noodle soup but sometimes I like to switch it up and order their thousand year old egg porridge. The wontons are flavorful and the noodles are cooked perfectly. If you have the time, is suggest you prefer their baked dishes. Real Lai Cha! Came here spontaneously on a Sunday night. This is clearly the best Hong Kong style milk tea in SF & the Bay Area. They use evaporated instead of condense milk (how it's supposed to be). Clearly nothing better than that! I had beef chow fun rice and it was legit. I'd say the quality is Vancouver level. They also have a "white" menu, haven't tasted it but looks good. I heard they have bad customer service here but I have to disagree. When I was there, they were extremely friendly. I've been on a mission to find good Portuguese baked chicken. This place was okay; not amazing but not bad. There was a lot of sauce for the amount of chicken and there were gloops in the sauce; I'm not sure why. There were onions and bell peppers too, and the sauce was quite yellow. The flavor was pretty good, I just wish there were more pieces of chicken and more vegetables too! I did like that the rice came separately though. Service was alright; not too great. We had to ask for water and for the check, and they made us wait a while for water too. Dry salt bombs disguised as food. I was craving a Hong Kong baked dish last night and was inclined to be forgiving of anything, but the food here was rather awful. I ordered the baked fish with cream sauce over spaghetti and curry beef with fried rice. The curry beef included 5 small cubes of meat, 1 large chunk of fat, and a few small cubes of overcooked potato in a watery curry sauce that was so salty I needed a gallon of water to wash it down. The baked fish was not creamy at all. It was like the sauce evaporated when they baked it, so they topped it was melted cheese to disguise that. Once you broke through the cheese, it was just plain spaghetti and a fillet of slightly dry fish. I mixed some curry sauce in to moisten it, but that just made me thirsty. The complimentary tomato soup tasted good though, with lots of spicy kick from peppercorns. Always trust a big guy where to find good food.. so when a friend of mine took me here one day.. (diverting from the usual restaurants I go to in the same plaza).. and told me to try this dish.. I just listened and figured I'd try it. What happened? Well.. there's only one dish I've ever eaten there, and to this day I still get that same dish every time I go there.
