I couldn't decide what I wanted to eat tonight, but I kept wanting Top! What I love most about this place is how consistent it is. How consistently good it is! The Indonesian Fried rice has a ton of flavor and is a fried rice with some noodles tossed in as well. It is not for everyone, but I love it. What would make it a tad better though is if the egg was cooked over easy so that it would run. I'll request that next time. The short rib was very good and super tender! I had it last time in the family combo and wanted to have it again, so I asked for a side order. The spam Masubi is good, but not great. However, it does the job! The katsu Masubi though is fantastic! It's crispy and you get a great difference of texture from the rice and the katsu. And you have to wash it all down with a Hawaiian fruit drink! Once I saw the Guava juice in the fridge, I knew I had to get it! But the Hawaiian Punch is fantastic as well! Great food, even better service. The family that runs this business is so sweet and the food is great. Their chicken katsu and cutlet (regular) plates can be shared with their portion sizes, and their musubis are delicious and filling. Tried Ono Hawaiian BBQ after their Lake location opened up and found myself coming back. The sauces here are so savory and great, this place hits the spot. read more

Top Restaurant is absolutely to the "top" of my list for Hawaiian food in all of LA since 2021. I Found this gem when I would visit my gf when she lived in Pasadena I can call in an order of either katsu cutlet dinner plate or teriyaki chicken and it's waiting for me everytime I pull up (at least more than 10 plates) When it ain't broke don't fix it! They have so many options but I have yet to deviate from my usual and don't intend to anytime soon! read more

Great hole-in-the-wall spot!! Grabbed a late dinner here with family one night. My cousin is a regular and highly recommended this spot along with the crispy fried chicken. All the items on the menu sounded so good. Both the Indonesian and Hawaii menus. I ordered the Hawaiian BBQ Beef Plate (mini), which included rice and macaroni salad. One bite of the BBQ beef and it was amazing. So tender and light but flavorful bbq sauce. The macaroni salad was good to, not overly mayo'd. And adding just a little bit of red hot sauce on the beef and it hit the spot! We also ordered the crispy friend chicken and my cousin wasn't lying. It's damn good. Hot, crispy and moist on the inside. For the price and quality of food, you can't go wrong with this place. I'm definitely coming back to try more of the menu. This place is my go to for Hawaiian food. Skip L&L and give this place a try. My usual order is the chicken katsu curry. Comes with 2 scoops of rice 1 scoop of Mac salad and a mountain of chicken katsu with a curry on the side. They also do a wide range of Indonesian dishes that I have tried but can't recall their names. Fried chicken is also recommended. Without a doubt this would be classified as a hole-in-the-wall. Located in a strip mall, the interior of this generically named place is tiny with half a dozen tables crammed together. Food is provided in takeout boxes with plastic utensils whether you dine in or take it to go. Met a friend for lunch. I ordered the chicken katsu which came with rice and macaroni salad. I also grabbed a delicious can of Hawaiian Sun Guava-Strawberry Nectar. The amount of food you get is impressive for the price. The mound of deep fried chicken I received was much better than expected. The panko coating was crisp and not oily, the chicken was tender and of good quality plus it was served piping hot. I really enjoyed it. But I wasn't overly fond of the macaroni salad. Great casual place to go to get a load of good food at a fair price. read more

Recently we ordered this for takeout and since it's cooked to order we waited patiently outside. The Loco Moco was incredibly bland, the gravy had no flavor, the egg had no flavor, and the beef patty had no flavor. Did they forget to season it? At first, I thought this was just how it was supposed to taste... Until my friends told me that authentic Loco Moco is packed with flavor and I was completely played. Two stars because the food was edible and I was able to force myself to finish it. Spam Musubi (4.5/5) - Tasted good, nothing special but I was satisfied. 4.5 stars because other reviews read that the price is $3 for 2 but I received two for the regular prices each. Discovered Top Restaurant recently and it's a hidden gem. Even with the pandemic they are friendly, provide fast service, and responsive. PARKING: It's a corner plaza with plenty of parking spots. FOOD: Their crispy fried chicken is so damn good! 6 big pieces, very crispy, and all dark juicy meat. The crispy is airy and thin. The crispy fried chicken comes with a sauce (thicker texture like paste) and it's very tasty. Additional sauce cost $1 each. Tonight, we also got the Chicken Vermicelli and it was a a big portion. The flavor can be a little stronger but that's just my personal preference. PRICE: The price is very fair. The total was around $20. It was dinner for 2 and even have leftovers for lunch tomorrow. And they're not the professional photos, these are actually the dishes customers get. These are all appealing to me, as it shows Top is popular for their food, not decor. We ordered: Crispy fried chicken... because everyone loves it and raves about it. It's good & tasty, but not the orgasm inducing, mind blowing flavor that makes one faint on the spot as many Yelpers have claimed. 5 medium size pieces for over $8. Not a good value for a place ike this. I prefer to eat it w/o the sauce. 3.5/5 Indonesian fried rice. Scrolling through Yelp photos, this seemed to be very popular. But the flavor was flat. It tasted like they used a soy base, but not much else. No spices, no exotic flavors ... just savory with a fried overhard egg on top. Would not get this again. 2.5/5 Oseng Oseng chicken: This actually had more flavor than the Indo fried rice. It's spicy, has chicken, tofu, cabbage and plenty of spices. Not bad. 3.5/5 Both rice dishes were glistening with a shiny coat of oil, which made the food pretty heavy. I ended up eating less than usual. I really want to like Top, and support the nice lady, but can't figure out why everyone's raving about the same dishes as if it's the best thing they ever had. You'll definitely make at least two meals out of your order. Indonesian fried rice (nasi goreng) is a unique and delicious take on fried rice. There're cut up little pieces of noodles and everything is oozing with flavor (also, who doesn't like a fried egg to top everything off?). The other thing I ordered (cause I decided one already huge order wasn't enough for myself) was the crispy fried chicken. You can get 4 pieces with 2 scoops of rice or 6 pieces (both options are the same price). If the very crispy skin and juicy meat wasn't already enough to please my taste buds, the sauce that came with it threw me over the edge. I don't know what's in the sauce but it made an already delicious fried chicken even more delicious. The Hawaiian food here is also just as hearty and generous though that's only based off my experience of seeing and smelling it.
